How to default values in LOV

Hi,
I have created a page in which I have two different LOVs. My requirement is to default some value in the First LOV i.e. "ALL"
and the second LOV which is dependent on the first LOV will gets populated with the values based on the first one on the page load itself.
Both the LOVs have "autoSubmit" and "partialTriggers"realtion between them.
The problem I am facing is that I am able to set some default value to the first LOV with value as "ALL" by using "setSubmiitedValue" on LOV from backing bean on the page load but the second LOV popup (dependent LOV) is coming blank on page load.
But if i select same value "ALL" form the first LOV popup after page load then second LOV popup gets populated with values based on first LOV
Please provide some urgent help that how to default any LOV with some value and based on that second LOV gets populated on the page load itself.

In jdev 11.1.2.3,
By creating List of Value(LOV) for an attribute of a VO, I can get default value for the current VO's attribute from the lookup table, but it will also enforce a validate check for that value.
If I input a value which is not in the lookup table, then errors will raised.
Now I hope I can get default value from LOV, and can also input some new value (and this new value can be insert into the lookup table by a database trigger) for the attribute/field without failure to pass the check.
Any one can help?

However, my current issue is a different requirement, let me describe it clearly as:
I have a formlayout to input a field value which can be from a lookup table, or if this value is not in the lookup table then it can also be input without raising value validation check failure.and this new value can be added to the lookup table at the same time.
for example, there is a FK attribute deptno in the EMP table, in a form for editing EMP attributes, user can input deptno value which is already in the DEPT lookup table by selecting from a LOV. also can input some new value which cannot be selected from the LOV, and this new deptno value will be posted to database both in EMP and DEPT table.
The issue is, after create a LOV for deptno attribute in EMP VO, there will be a enforced value validation check, so new values cannot be input in EMP unless it is input into DEPT first.

List of values are designed to return valid values only. As a result, validation rules defined on data source view object attributes will be suppressed.
My question is: how to disable this enforced value validation for a LOV-enabled field?

I am unable to default LOV field in Create and Update page in OAF.
I tried in below way :

But I am getting developer mode exception, so please guide me how i can set the default value for create and update page instead of using code in process request method in controller.

1) In case of create, you can default the value either in EOImpl or in AM while initializing the row:

How to default value in collection after intial collection field entered

Hi there,
Am working on gettting to know collections but not really had much to do with them so far.
I have a multi row data entry screen that works great using a collection. Now the boss has decided that the new records require a default value that the users can overwrite if required.
The value i need to default is the second field in the collection but i only want to populate the value after the first field in the collection has been entered.
Could anyone talk me through how i do this please or point me to any relevant documents.

Hi Lisa,
If you want to default value only after user enters data in another row column, you ll have to write a javascript code that executes after the column is entered
If you have jQuery(already included in apex 4.0) it would make the task of accessing that other column easy.
Otherwise its much more harder work to get I can think of setting the ID's using the pitem_id_* while rendering the editable fields(set it for both the columns..say as COL1_ROWNUM , COL2_ROWNUM ) using APEX_ITEM. Then add an onblur event(using the html attributes parameter of APEX_ITEM api) call a JS function with the rownumber(to identify the row). You can then write the logic for default value inside the function and set the corresponding column with the value.
If you can update about your version and/or if you use any JS libraries, it would be easier to help you any further.

Can't Set Default Value for LOV Presentation DB Column

I have a simple form. One of the fields is populated using a named, dynamic LOV with the following source query:
SELECT USER_NAME DISPLAY_VALUE, USER_ID RETURN_VALUE
FROM USER_ACCT
ORDER BY 1
I want the default user to be public, which is one of the possible values returned by the above query. However, I just can't find a good way to do this.
If I put the following query in the Default section, nothing happens.
SELECT USER_ID
FROM USER_ACCT
WHERE USER_NAME = 'PUBLIC'
If I look up the ID and statically put the value in the Default, it works (This isn't acceptable . From environment to environment the value will differ)
If I put the SQL in an after footer page process, it sets the value correctly in the session but, does not update the display.
If I try to put it in the Post Calculation Computation section, it merely produces an error.
I'm sure that I am missing something simple but, I have not spent an hour and half on this.

A function I'd like to see is the ability to not only create a select list dynamically, but also set the default value of that select list's item to the first (or Nth?) value on that list. This could be specified in the builder by an item option.
E.G., if a select list LOV returns three values: "foo", "bar", "baz", go ahead and set the value of the select list item to "foo".
As far as I've been able to discover, there's no built-in way to do this in Application Express. I've looked through the app, the docs, and the forum. If such a method does exist, please let me know.
Otherwise, we end up running additional processes that reissue the query so we can grab the first item as the default value. This seems inefficient to me.
Keeping the LOV query and the "first item" query consistent can present problems as well. We usually end up pushing the LOV query into a function so it can be maintained in a single location, but this seems more like a workaround than anything else.
While the query is probably cached, Application Express has that return value already, right? Why calculate/choose it again?

How to default value on bet01 based on ansal

we can see in the debuggin for the DATA1 it is having the MFPY value but i dont find the value for bet01 ..........
and iam not getting the value on the screen in PA30 for the bet01.

We have created a new infotype 9002. This infotype has two mandatories fields, one with the amount and another with the currency.
The currency always will be 'EUR', for this reason we would like to assign the default value for this field and the user only should fill the amount field.

How to default values on screen using FREE_SELECTIONS_INIT

Hi Experts,
I have the following requirement :
We have developed a screen on which there is a button. On click of the button, a dynamic selection screen is generated using the functions FREE_SELECTIONS_INIT and FREE_SELECTIONS_DIALOG.
I want when the selection screen is generated for the first time, the fields on it contains some default values taken from a table.
e.g. If Screen has fields MARA-MATNR, MARA-MTART, MARA-MEINS then MARA-MEINS should be defaulted with a value 'EA'.
I have tried a lot but could not find a solution to it.
Kindly help me out as this is very urgent.

How to retain value in LoV item in Tabular Form, after Page Refresh

Hi,
I have a tabular form, which contains 2 items(columns), of type "Select List - named LoV".
Now, 2nd item(column) in tabular form, that LoV should get populated based on user's selection value in first item LoV.
1. So how do I refer to the value, that user selected in first item's LoV? I will have to use this value as reference in LoV query of my 2nd item ( on this tabular form)
2. Everytime I select value in first item LoV, page gets refreshed, as my requirement is to calculate 2nd item's LoV based on selected value in first item. So after this page refresh, first item LoV loses its value that was selected before the page refresh happened. So how do i retain this value in first item LoV? I have an unconditional process, that on every submit(refresh) of page, I set all my items with their corresponding values. But problem is what do i mention there to refer to this first item ( of type LoV) of tabular form?
I looked in view source of my page, this item is referred as f03.
So i used "apex_application.g_f03", to set this item to its value, in my uncoditional submit process. But it did not work. I tried to refer this item as "f03" in this unconditional submit process. But still it did not help, the selected item loses its value after page refresh(submit).

Hi Rave,
You will have to use Javascript and Ajax to change the values as ApEx submissions will lose your results unless they are saved into the database.
Remember, that as you are using a tabular form there will be lots of items called f01, fo2, fo3 etc on the page (one per row).

AP Form Personalization - How to default Values.

I am trying to Personalize the *"Payment Batch"* Form in AP Super User.
(Navigation : Payments > Entry> Payment Batches.)
My Requirement is:
*"Once the Bank Account(LOV) is selected, the Pay Group(LOV) should get defaulted."*
There is a ONE-TO-ONE Relationship with the Bank Account and Pay Group given by the user.
1. How can I default the Pay Group corresponding to a Bank Account.
2. Is there any table which links Bank Account and Pay Group to accomplish the same.
3. Can i do it by creating LOOK-UPS
Please help me start with this personalization.

How to default value from popup page to main page.

Hi,
Requirement:
I have a create page with table region of 10 lines.I have an icon for every line and on click of this icon, a popup window will be opened.
In the popup window i have quantity field with a table region. User is allowed to select the quantity. Also i have a ADD button on the popup page.
Now On selecting the quantity and click on add button, the quantity should be added and the sum quantity should be defaulted to quantity field in the main page.
For this requirement what i have done is
I have added the quantity on click of the Add button.and the total quantity i set to the quantity attribute that has been attached to main page.
But the quantity didnt get reflect to the main page. i think the focus is not retured o main page.
Please suggest me how can i do this requirement.

Hi,
As per my analysis for the issue, the control is returning to processRequest of the controller and when i set the attribute value, the value is being set and I am able to get the value and print it.
But the value is not displayed on the page.Here I am using Advanced Table Region, and I am not able to shoe the value.
I also created one view attribute and tried to set the readonly property to TRUE for the same field. I did in the same way, the value is being set and the field is made readonly.
The problem is I am not able to show value to the user, even the value is present in the view attribute.
Any pointers to this are really helpful.

How make default values in the selection criteria of BEx query????

I have to create a brand new query, in the selection criteria(Prompts) I have two prompts. one prompt should show current budget year and second prompt should show next budget year, both prompts are mandatory and default.
Can any one please let me know how to obtain current and next budget year??? do I need to write any customer exit or do i need to create a offset???
Two prompts are using same infoobject 0fiscper which is mapped to ECC Table MBEW and field is LFGJA.

Create a customer exit variable for calyear with ready for input (checked).

create a new selection in the structure, drag the KF and calyear restricted by current year variable . Copy the same selection and insert it as a new selection, go back to the calyear restriction, right clik on the variable. specify variable offset and enter + 1.

How to bind value to lov based on the output from other lov

HI all, i have 2 message choice Lov, i am selected a value from the 1st lov based on this value i am a executing a query, i want to display one of the attribute value from the query result in the second LOV. i am getting the attribute value correctly but i dont know how to bind that(display) in the 2nd LOV(at runtime).

I need to set the default value of an LOV that is found in a view criteria. I tried to set a groovy expression but unfortunately it wasn't read. i also tried to bind the LOV to a bind variable and set the value of the bind variable in the constructor of my backing bean but unfortunately the default value appeared the second time i entered the screen and not on page load.
Can anyone advise where can i set the default value,

if you want some default value in LOV. you go to edit list of value wizard-> UI hint->include no selection Item checkbox -checked.use labeled item first of list- and beside that put the label. but when you try to get value, it will show null.but you can manipulate in ur java , if it default value
