How to disable Password field in Oracle User administration

How can I personalize the password field on the user - define form not updatable ? I have tried forms personalization on this field but it didnt work. Can anyone have an idea whether this field can be personalized at all

See if this works out for you. I tested and it is ok
Trigger Event - WHEN-NEW-ITEM-INSTANCE
Trigger Object - USER.USER_PASSWORD
Processing Mode - Both
Action Type - Property
Object Type - Item
Target Object - USER.USER_PASSWORD
Property Name - ENABLED (APPLICATIONS COVER)
Value - FALSE
Save and close/open both forms. In Enter or Query modes, when ever user navigate to Password field, it is disabled and not editable.
Hope this works as you expected. Just play around :-)

How to define maximum field width on an updatable report

I have an updatable report.
From a user's perspective, this is a form in my app. How can I define the maximum number of characters the user can enter into a field?
I tried entering the following into the report column's element attributes, but none of these worked:
width=10px
width:10px
max-width=10px
max-width:10px
I don't know why the Tabular Form Element section allows to define Element Width and Number of Rows, but not the maximum width.

Hi Boris,
If your updateable report is created by using a wizard than its not.
You could use the apex_item.text api which allows for setting the max field width.

How to encrypt password field in JHS_USERS table?

We have developed an application using Jdeveloper 10.1.3 and Jheadstart 10.1.3.2.52 version. we are using custom login module using oracle.security.jazn.login.module.db.DBTableOraDataSourceLoginModule class.
We need to encrypt the password in the table JHS_USERS.
Please let us know the best way of doing it.

Thanks Brent, for pointing my to dbms_crypto package, which seems to be the successor of dbms_obfuscation_toolkit that I was looking at.
I just jumped in in the middle of this thread, my specific requirements might differ from the topic starter's requirements.
Unencrypted storage of passwords in the JHS_USERS table is judged as very unsecure by the security officers that are auditing our application. Anybody with access to the table (DBAs, support engineers, developers, etc.) can read the passwords. As users tend to reuse passwords or password patterns across applications, this is a serious security issue that goes beyond the scope of just our application. So the requirements are: It should not be possible to retrieve a unencrypted password by means of a select statement on JHS_USERS table.
The solution we are heading for is:
- A stored function that generates an MD5-encrypted string for the password, based on the unencrypted password and username. (Using MD5-facilities of dbms_crypto or dbms_obfuscation_toolkit package.)
- Database triggers on JHS_USERS that converts unencrypted password when a user is created or password is changed. (Using the before mentioned stored function.)
- MD5 is a one-directioal encryption mechanism. So the stored passwords cannot be decrypted. This is exactly what we are looking for in terms of security. But I think it forces us to customize the authenticateUser method. That method compares the password entered in the logon page with the password retrieved from JHS_USERS. So just before that comparison, we have to convert the entered username/password combination to a MD5-string too. (Preferable by using the before mentioned stored function again, to be 100% sure that the same algoritm is applied.)
This solution seems to be quit simple and straight forward. However, before starting the implementation I am very curious for experiences (and drawbacks) with similar constructs.

How to Handle Blank Field Value based Condition in SmartForms

Dear Sir,
In SMARTFORM , we need to define a Condition that incase Field Value is not equal to BLANK value (blank means that field is empty) then a specific text gets printed .
Our problem is that We do not know as how to define Empty Field Value based condition .
Had it been Non Empty Field value based condition then solution was simple and could be done in following way :
Field Value R Comparision Value
WA_KZDKZ = 'X'
In our case , we need to give Blank (Empty Value) instead of 'X' .

Go to the conditions tab in your SMARTFORM and give condition there
Field Comparision operator value
<Field name> <> Here symbol is diff space.
eg:
wa_mara-matnr =/ space.

In my opinion, you don't have any such std table/view to update ABC Classification field. You might need to update relevant infostructure based on your requirement, such as sales, invoiced, etc..
Try with following, based on your requirement:

MC+E
SIS: Customer, Sales - Selection

Very Urgent: how to define field symbols in class using se24 Points assured

I am new to abap oo programming. I am using se24 to build a class
where some methods have code which involves working with field sybmols but i am not able to figure out way for how to define field symbols in the attributes section.
I tried defining like : fld_sym type ref to dbtab-fld
but in the method implementation if i try to use it like assign fld to <fld_sym> there it says fld_sym is not defined as a field symbol.
So can anyone please guide me how to define field symbols in se24.
Also what should be the general steps while creating a class using se24.

How to define an itab including a field-symbols

*Please see below code, I define a field-symbols structure <wa>:

create data wa type (p_table).
assign wa-> to <wa>.
My question is after <wa> get assigned, if I want to define a new internal table or structure which should include <wa>, like below:

include structure <wa>.

But it doesn't work. How can I do that?
