  • Unable to deploy a simple servlet using WAR file on Oracle9iAS v9.0.3

    Hi All,
    I am facing problem while deploying a simple servlet using WAR file on Oracle 9i App Server.
    I have installed Oracle9iAS J2EE and Web Cache v9.0.3 on Windows 2000 server.
    It includes:
         - Oracle HTTP Server
         - Oracle9iAS Containers for J2EE
         - Oracle9iAS Web Cache
         - Oracle Enterprise Manager
    The release of installed Oracle9iAS is Release 2 (9.0.3)
    I referred following link to Deploy Applications Using WAR file:
         http://otn.oracle.com/products/ias/daily/sept12.html
    As mentioned in this documentation I have followed following steps to deploy WAR file:
    1] I have created a war file by name SimpleServlet.war. In SimpleServlet.war, there is a servlet by name Simple which prints time at which servlet was accessed.
    2] I have modified <ora9ias_home>\j2ee\home\config\application.xml and added following web module entry:
         <web-module id="SimpleServlet" path="../../home/applications/SimpleServlet.war" />
    3] To make this module accessible from over the web, I have modified file
         <ora9ias_home>\j2ee\home\config\default-web-site.xml and added following entry:
         <web-app application="SimpleServlet" name="SimpleServlet" root="/SimpleServlet"/>
    4] I saved both the files and started Oracle HTTP Server and accessed page as below:
              http://<server>:7777/SimpleServlet/Simple
    where Simple is servlet in SimpleServlet.war file.
    In the browser, The page cannot be found is shown to user. I have verified that SimpleServlet.war is extracted to SimpleServlet folder under <ora9ias_home>\j2ee\home\applications folder. I found that Simple.class is stored under WEB-INF/classes folder and web.xml contains correct entry for url pattern for servlet Simple.
    What else could be the problem? Am I placing the war file in wrong place or modifying application.xml or default-web-site.xml in a wrong directory?
    This is very urgent. Please help me with your valuable comments on this.
    Thanks in advance.

    SandeshHave you restarted you http server and then tried to load it again? Are you using the right port; maybe you have to use port 7778? Check you server settings in the http server instance. Also check your url binding of you application at Farm > Application Server: infrastructurehost > OC4J_instance > Application: appname > Web Module: modulename

  • How to Run a simple servlet "HelloWorld.java" in JBoss 3.0 ?

    Dear all,
    I am a beginner and I want to run a simple "HelloWorld.java" servlet .
    I need to use JBoss 3.0 .
    After I run this simple servlet, I need to use EJB-Servlet-JSP to implement MVC .
    I have the servlet code and I am able to compile it.
    But I dont know how to proceed as to where to put the class files , where do I specify an alias for my servlet and what modifications I need in Web.xml,Jboss.xml,Application.xml ?
    I do not anything about tools like Ant or Xdoclet so need to proceed without them.Please alos let me know where I can fond complete info about Ant and Xdoclet .
    Thanx in Advance,
    Sujith

    I am not sure of the JBoss package that you are using. If you are using the JBoss-Tomcat package, here's the solution. Create either a .war file or create a directory with the name <your-webapp>.war under <jboss-root>/server/default/deploy. If you are creating a war file, you have to place that war file in the same directory. JBoss-Tomcat will keep looking at this directory for new files or updates to files and deploys/re-deploys as required.
    The contents of the war file should be something like this.
    WEB-INF - directory
    WEB-INF/classes - your servlet classes
    WEB-INF.web.xml - your configuration. Here you can specify the servlet name, class and URI mapping.
    Now, you can call your servlet using the browser in this way: http://localhost:8080/<your-webapp>/servlet/<servlet-alias>. Here the <your-webapp> is the prefix of the .war file.
    Resources:
    Ant - http://jakarta.apache.org/ant/
    Xdoclet - http://xdoclet.sourceforge.net/

  • How to Deploy a Simple Java Web service in Oracle E Business Suite Server

    Hi,
    I have created a simple Java webservice using Jdev11g.
    I am able to Test the Webservice using Jdev11g itself.
    How Can i migrate the same to Oracle E Busienss Suite( - 9iAS ) so that webservice clients connect to 9iAS instead of my local machine
    Thanks,
    Gowtam.

    Hi Sudhakar,
    If you are used to working with ant then you can very well use eclipse to deploy your web service.
    You would usually have the ant script in the source root working directory. From eclipse if you select the build file from the navigator view and right click you will see a run ant option in the pop up menu.
    Select that option and you would be able to see each targets with a checkbox select option. So define each target maybe one for wsdl2java conversion, one for compilation and one for deploying your web services. You can either make all of them run by having depends option on or you can run them individually as it takes your fancy.
    I am not sure about debugging a web service yet.
    Hope this helps

    I've got a few servlets running alongside my JSC app without problems. They are small basic utilities that do things like fetch file attachments from the database or fetch reports from my report server.
    (If the search facility is now working) you could search the forum for "fileupload" and have a look. Somewhere there's a sample servlet that retrieves an uploaded file.
    That said, the main focus of JSC is to isolate developers from the nitty gritty side of J2EE and you'll most likely find better tools available in, for example, NetBeans and better skilled people to ask on one of the J2EE forums. I think there's even one called "Servlets." I'm not trying to be rude here -- just pointing out that you may be using the wrong tool for the job and may be asking the wrong people about it ;)

  • How to deploy a simple .jar (containing Helper classes) in Weblogic?

    Hi,
    I have created multiple .jar files.
    1) MDB.jar containing all my MDB classes.
    2) Bean.jar containing all my Session Bean classes.
    3) Utility.jar containing remaining Helper,utility classes.
    I had deployed MDB.jar, Bean.jar by using Weblogic Console, under 'Deployments'-> 'EJB Module'. How can i deploy Utility.jar ? First of all, do i need to deploy Utility.jar? Only EJB JARs need to be deployed?
    If we do not deploy a non-EJB JARs, how this code will be available and is executed?
    Thanks in advance.

    I'd recommend you deploy these 3 components together in an EAR file. THe utility jar file could go in APP-INF/lib, or you could reference it via manifest class-path entries.

  • Problem With Deploying a very simple Servlet

    HELP REQUIRED:
    Hi,
    I'm including code of a very simple Servlet application (I shd not call it an application):
    index.html
    ==========
    <html><body bgcolor="#FFFFFF">
         <head>
         <title> Rajeev Asthana </title>
    <form action = "/HelloWorldApp/HelloWorld" method = "POST" >
    Please press Submit
    <input type = "submit" value = "Press Me!">
    </form>
    </body></html>
    HelloWorld.java
    ===============
    import java.io.*;
    import javax.servlet.*;
    import javax.servlet.http.*;
    public class HelloWorld extends HttpServlet {
         public void doPost(HttpServletRequest request,
                   HttpServletResponse response)
              throws ServletException, IOException {
              response.setContentType("text/html");
              PrintWriter out = response.getWriter();
              out.println("<html><body bgcolor=\"#FFFFFF\">");
              out.println("<p>Hello World!</p>");
              out.println("</body></html>");
              out.close();
    web.xml
    ========
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <web-app xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee" version="2.4" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee/web-app_2_4.xsd">
    <display-name>HelloWorldApp</display-name>
    <servlet>
    <display-name>HelloWorld</display-name>
    <servlet-name>HelloWorld</servlet-name>
    <servlet-class>HelloWorld</servlet-class>
    </servlet>
    </web-app>
    sun-web.xml
    ===========
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE sun-web-app PUBLIC "-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD Application Server 8.0 Servlet 2.4//EN" "http://www.sun.com/software/appserver/dtds/sun-web-app_2_4-0.dtd">
    <sun-web-app xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee">
    <context-root>/HelloWorldApp</context-root>
    <session-config>
    <session-manager persistence-type="memory">
    <manager-properties/>
    <store-properties/>
    </session-manager>
    <session-properties/>
    <cookie-properties/>
    </session-config>
    <cache enabled="false" max-entries="4096" timeout-in-seconds="30">
    <default-helper/>
    </cache>
    <class-loader delegate="true"/>
    <jsp-config/>
    </sun-web-app>
    I have deployed it in following directory structure:
    C:\Sun\AppServer\domains\domain1\applications\j2ee-modules\HelloWorldApp\
    |
    |
    |               |               |               |
    |               |               |               |
    META-INF          WEB-INF          HelloWorld.java          index.html
                   |
                   |
              |          |          |          |
              |          |          |          |
         classes          sun-web.xml     web.xml          sun-j2ee-ri-project
         |
         |
         HelloWorld.class
    While generating HelloWorldApp.war (which is the war file for this app), I specifies /HelloWorldApp as context root (sun specific).
    Now, when I deployed it thru Admin Tool and then clicked on "Launch", it displays a page with :
    Please press Submit Press Me!
    But when I click the button "Press Me!", it says:
    "The requested resource (/HelloWorldApp/HelloWorld) is not available."
    What should I do to correct the problem?
    Thanks in advance.

    Yes, you need to add a servlet -mapping element and adjust your form to submit to the appropriate URL mapping.
    <servlet-mapping>
    <servlet-name>HelloWorldServlet</servlet-name>
    <url-pattern>/servlet/Hello</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>

  • How to deploy Servlet Application in Weblogic 8.1

    Hi,
    I am new to BEA Weblogic 8.1 .
    I was trying to create a sample application using InelliJ IDea 5.1 , and IntelliJIdea 10.5 . i configured weblogic with IDE , but now i do not know how to deploy my application in weblogic .
    I am new in IntelliJ also .
    So Can anyone tell me how can i deploy a servlet application in any IDE like i also have eclipse indigo.
    Thanks & Regards
    Komi

    Hi Komi
    Basically you deploy your Servlet as a WAR File. I am not familiar with IntellJ IDE. But it should have a provision to export/create a WAR file that has your Servlet. Also I hope you already have web.xml file with 2 sections like this: First you mention full package of your servlet and give it a name. Then enter a mapping url. You will use this url to run your servlet like http://weblogichost:weblogicport/yourWebappcontextroot/myservlet
    <servlet>
         <servlet-name>MyServlet</servlet-name>
         <servlet-class>com.abd.def.MyServlet</servlet-class>
    </servlet>
    <servlet-mapping>
         <servlet-name>MyServlet</servlet-name>
         <url-pattern>/myservlet</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>
    Coming to deployment, I hope you already created a Weblogic Domain and have admin username/password. Start your domain. Login into weblogic console like http://host:port/console and use admin username/password. Then from Deployments section, deploy the above WAR file. In Weblogic you can deploy JAR (EJBs, java files), WAR (web jsp, html, webservices, servlets) or EAR (JAR + WAR). In your case its just a WAR file.
    Refer the online docs for more details on Deployments in Weblogic.

  • How to create and deploy a simple jstl applicaton in weblogic 10.3.3

    How to create and deploy a simple jstl applicaton in weblogic 10.3.3

    1) Since JSTL libraries are provided as Web application libraries, they must be deployed before the Web application that is using JSTL functionality is deployed. The libraries can be deployed using the Administration Console or with the command-line weblogic.Deployer tool.
    Here’s an example of deploying a JSTL 1.2 library using the weblogic.Deployer command-line:
    java weblogic.Deployer -adminurl t3://localhost:7001
    -user weblogic -password weblogic
    -deploy -library
    d:/beahome/wlserver_10.3/common/deployable-libraries/jstl-1.2.war
    This command deploys the JSTL 1.2 library using the default library-name, specification-version and implementation-version defined by the MANIFEST.MF in the library.
    After a library is deployed, the extension-name, specification-version and implementation-version of the library can be found in Administration console. This information can also be found in the MANIFEST.MF file of the library WAR file.
    For more information on deploying a Web module refer below URL
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E15051_01/wls/docs103/deployment/deployunits.html
    2) To reference a JSF or JSTL library, a standard web application can define a <library-ref> descriptor in the application’s weblogic.xml file. Here is an example:
    <library-ref>
    <library-name>jsf</library-name>
    <specification-version>1.2</specification-version>
    <implementation-version>1.2.0</implementation-version>
    <exact-match>false</exact-match>
    </library-ref>
    For more information on referencing a Web application library refer below URL
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E15051_01/wls/docs103/programming/libraries.html
    3) Create a sample JSP in your application and JSP should look as shown below
    <%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jstl/core" %>
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>TestJSTL</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <c:set var="topic" value="JSTL" />
    <c:out value="${topic}" />
    </body>
    </html>
    4) Create WAR and deploy and test.

  • How to deploy an app with servlet and background processing

    i have a servlet with background processing. it has to run 24 hours a day.
    but i have problem with shutdown (after 1-2 hours without user action). [9iAS 9.0.3.0, windows 2000]
    i created for application seperate OC4J (in the EM) and i deployed it there. first time as war file, later as ear file (because there is possible to re-deploy only ear file).
    but it seems that the servlets are not designated to run as a uninterruptible task.
    the question is: how to deploy such (servlet + uninterruptible background processing) application in the 9iAS?
    a) everything in the OC4J (then how to disable shutdown?)
    b) servlet in the OC4J. where (and how) to install the rest of application?
    b1) servlet in the OC4J + rmi/soap/... + standalone server?
    what is the standard in the oracle world :) ?
    thanks

    I need to deploy a personal servlet in EBS R11, and I have no idea about where or how to do that.
    Please can some one help me?
    thinks a lot

    Brahim,
    There is are some testing servlets used in 11i,
    For testing purpose you can deploy your servlet in the following directory,
    $COMMON_TOP/java/oracle/apps/fnd/test
    The standard testing servlet can be accessed from
    http://host:port/oa_servlets/oracle.apps.fnd.test.HelloWorldServlet
    Thanks.
