How to deploy an EAR to the Web AS?

I develop a small web aplication with Web Dynpro. As a result I got an EAR file. One can deploy it inside SNDS. But is there another way to deploy the EAR, such as using deploytool? If yes, how?

Hi,
Yes, you can deploy the EAR file through Visual Administrator tool.
This tool is available in the server, (usr/sap/<SID>/JC##/j2ee/admin/go.bat).
Enter with the administrator user name and password, Server -> services -> Deploy. Here click the deploy button, and give your EAR and deploy.

  • How to deploy an ear remotely.

    Hi all,
I have an ear in my system.I want to deploy it remotely in the webas 6.40(server). I can able to deploy the ear using sdm batch from the same machine(server). But i want to deploy it from my system into server. Now actually i want know how NWDS can able to deploy remotely.so that we can use same mechanism to deploy.pls help me out to resolve this issue.
    Regards,
    Kiran.

    Hello Kiran,
you can deploy via command line only locally. If you want to deploy remotely in SDM, you can use the remote GUI:
    The SDM Server and
the remote GUI can run on different hosts, however they must be connected by a network
connection. Use the command remotegui to start the remote GUI:
    sdm remotegui
Since there is no current separate installation for the GUI, you must perform a complete SDM
installation even if you only want to start the remote GUI on the host.

  • How to deploy mapviewer.ear at tomcat

    Hi,
I have read the thread "how to deploy mapviewer at tomcat" and I understand which jar files I have to add to tomcat to have meet the requirements of oracle, but I am still confused how to deploy mapviewer.ear file at tomcat. Can somebody tell me how to do it step by step or give me some useful links about this topic?
Your generous help will be appreciated!

    Hi Andrejus,
In our department, we have oracle application server licence. I am trying to do as you told me, but I still have a question. I extracted mapviewer.ear file which includes a file named web.war. Is it right that I copy this war file directly into /webapps of TOMCAT or do I have to change something in this war file? In this procedure when can I provide the licence of oracle application server?
    Thank you and Best Regards!

  • Deploying forms applications on the web

    Hi,
I have migrated my froms from 6i to 9i.
1)Please tell me how to deploy them on the web and what are the various setting to be done.
2)Can anyone tell me where is the complete documentation available on deployment of forms ovwer the web and the settings to be done??

Would you like me to clean your house and do your laundry, too? :-)
Start by reading the manuals and white papers on OTN. Then, if you have SPECIFIC questions on how to do something, this is the place to ask.

The most likely thing is that the file tester.htm is not in the directory %FORMS60%\server\

  • How do I remove hierarchies from the web version (11.1.1.2.103)?

I am hiding some hierarchies from end users in the client by setting their Limb and Leaf Access to None and having success.  However, when I check the web (view only) version the hierarchies are still showing in the dropdown.  How can I hide them on the web was well?  Also, I would like to order the hierarchies in the dropdown but have been unable to determine how to do this as well.  Any insight would be appreciated!

Double check on the NAG selected against the Web version, don't recall exactly, it's been a while I have seen the client based version.
With respect to ordering the Hierarchies, please assign a value (order number) for the hierarchy level property "Hierarchy Sort Order "against each hierarchy.

  • How to deploy a WAR onto the NW AS?

I have a WAR which runs quite well under Tomcat. I want now to deploy it onto the SAP NW AS. With which tool can I do this?

    Hallo Thomas,
It is actually the only way. You cannot deploy a WAR file as it is on the WAS. You need to import the files into NWDS, and create a new WAR out of it, then an EAR archive and then deploy it.
The reason for the new archives is that the NWDS adds new descriptors specific to the Web Application Server.
Here is how you can do it. Unzip the WAR into a temporary folder somewhere. Then in NWDS, you create a project of type Web Module and import your contents into the webContent folder of your NWDS project.
Now create a project of type Enterprise Module and add a reference to the Web Module Project. If the reference has been set correctly, you should be able to see module reference unter the tab "modules" in your application.xml (Enterprise Project). After that, right click on the Enterprise Project and click "Build Application Archive" and the EAR file will be built. Just right click on the EAR file to deploy it on the server.
In case you do not have administrator rights for deployment, you can send the new EAR file to the concerned Administrator.
    Bye,

  • Using Deployed Engine Categories with the Web Widget

We use the categories of our deployed engines as part of our custom requests to the Translator API. We currently don't use the Web Widget, but...
Does the same "category" value apply to the the customized category attribute of the Translator Widget?
If so, what happens when a language pair is selected that does not have a deployed system with the provided category? Does the category default back to "general" in that case?
    Ryan

    Hi Ryan,
indeed, you can remove the label or use the same label across languages - that has the same effect. I recommend to not use a label. Unless you need to build different systems for the same language pair, in the same workspace.
Yes, you'll have to retrain. That's not a big deal: simply clone the training with a new name, without the label, and then train and deploy in a single step.
Let us know how it goes,
    Chris Wendt

  • How can I do to change the web site when I open a new tab.

    Dear Friends...
I cant find information, how to changes the web site when I open a second tab. Example: when I open Firefox my home page is google and that is perfect but when I open a second tab, why appears yahoo as home page? I want to changes that and I cant find how to do it . Thanks

The normal behavior is to open a blank tab, an add-on will be causing it to display Yahoo. One add-on that does this is the freeze net assistant, if you have that one you can uninstall it and it should revert to opening a blank tab.
There are add-ons that let you specify what should open in a new tab, such as:
    * NewTabURL - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/newtaburl
    * New Tab Homepage - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/new-tab-homepage
Another way of opening the home page in a new tab is to middle click on the home button in the navigation toolbar.

  • How to create clean text for the web in Photoshop/Illustrator

I am puzzled to death on how in the world to get clean text for the web in Photoshop/Illustrator, particularly white text. I want my text to turn out exactly like the text at this website: thepainteddoor.org
If you scroll down to the bottom of that page, notice the titles "Featured Media", "Social Networking", and "Contact Information". They are all .gif images. I have tried to replicate what these images look like for about 3 hours now to no avail. Can anyone tell me how to do this? It just looks like a simple outline or drop shadow, but I can't get it to show up like that. If someone could help me replicate that effect with text (aka make it show up clean as an image), I would graciously give them money through PayPal*.
    * = I will only give cash if it will replicate it exactly (and I mean exactly)..and it won't be too much..I'm a poor college student. :-P
    Thanks in advance!
    Thomas

You would do it the way I created it:
Select the Text tool in Photoshop and set the font and parameters as I have listed.  Then enter whatever text you like.  It will be rendered over the top of the lower layers you may have in the document.  Save as an image of the appropriate type and you're there.
Note that "lower layers you may have in the document" could conceivably be none at all (i.e., you render the text over a transparent document).  You could imagine saving that as a .png with transparency and get light text in an image that could then be put over the top of anything else.  The alpha mixing will see to it that the edges smoothly blend with the background.  I haven't actually tried this (I usually do try my own suggestions) because of lack of time right now.

  • How to deploy selected components on the production server with the same solution

    Hello,
We've a production server where we had deployed the visual studio based solution which contains all the web parts and their business logic. Production server is up and running live and end-users have started using it as well.
Now, some issues and change requests have been reported regarding some components (web parts). We've made all the relevant changes. However, I want to deploy only those selected components (web parts) instead of entire solution again.
So, as per my understanding, if i include the selected components in the package/feature then at the time of deployment, wsp retracts the old solution and deploys the new one. When the new one won't have those web parts which didn't updated then portal/site
will start giving error and site will be collapsed.
Another option is to create another farm solution in Visual Studio 2010 and add the updated components in it. Then, we may be able to deploy it. Then, i'll be able to remove the old web parts from the selected pages and deploy the updated one.
Is there any better option which anyone could let me know?
    Thanks!

Hi Sohaib, your another option is a good idea, only make sure to retract and remove the original from your farm, the add and install the new updated solution.  And if you run into any error that says features already exist, you can use powershell, install-SPSolution
and -force to get the new solution deployed.  http://tinyurl.com/q8erz72
Or, you could use Upgrade-SPSolution with a package that has same features from original, with the new artifacts.  Although, if any of the original features are modified, I would recommend retract remove redeploy.
