  • How to deploy a Flex application (Server Type ColdFusion) to production

    I have built a flex application using Flash Builder 4.6.  It utilizes ColdFusion Flash Remoting for its data services.  When first setting up the data services I had to set a bunch of properties in the flex server section.  Which I am not sure are all correct but the app does run and connect to the data services.  They were:
    Application Server type: ColdFusion
    Use remote object access service
         ColdFusion flash remoting
    Server Location:
         Deployed to Java application server
         Web Root: v:\inetpub\testFlex
         Root URL: http://myDevServerIP/
         ColdFusion Was folder: v:\CF9\JRun4\servers\testFlex\cfusion.ear\cfusion.war
    My question is now when I'm ready to deploy to my production machine and load the app onto a tablet or other computer, obviously the Root URL will be different something like http://myLiveURL.com.  Is this the only thing I change?  Do I even change it here or is there some other location?  Any other things I need to change?
    Thanks!
    Your help is much appreciated!

    All the paths to CFCs are the same in my live production site.  Can you be more specific as to what you mean by "RemoteClass aliases in your AS Classes and CFCs (if any) are correct."?  How will the app know that the CFC is on http://myLiveSite.com instead of http://myDevSite.com?  The only line of code that I have noticed that points to a URL is the endpoint in a file called _Super_XXX.as.  And at the top of that file it says that the file is not meant for editting.
    To clarify...I see your app/code all exists on a server access via a web browser so I can understand that everything still works when deployed.  Mine is a mobile app so when I am developing and testing on my local computer the URL points to my local development machine.  However when I deploy it to a mobile device like a tablet and run the app, it needs to be able to access a cfc on a remote server via a different URL ie. my http://myLiveSite.com/myCFC.cfc instead of http://localhost/myCFC.cfc
    Thanks for your help!  I will now take a look at your thread.

  • How to integrate a flex build in a web application running on jBoss 5.1

    Hi,
    I have two flex builds for a messaging application that I have to integrate with my web application running on Jboss 5.1 . I have tried hot deploying the builds into the default deploy folder of Jboss,but that approach doesn't seem to work(maybe because I may need to make war out of the flex builds). Can someone tell me an approach of how to accomplish this. Can I leverage BLAZEDS for this purpose.

  • How to deploy a single class to the web portal?

    EDIT: I've been able to create the deployment file. I found an older copy of NWDS and the old project folders are working perfectly again. I'll cross that bridge with the new version another time.
    Firstly, sorry if this post is in the wrong section ... I looked around and couldn't find a section that I thought fitted.
    A while back my company created a simple login module to similate a single sign on for our network. The module worked perfectly for a few months, then about a months ago it started rejecting logins for no apparent reason. I've asked all involved with the system and everyone claims that they haven't touched anything and that the problem must be within the Java class.
    Due to recent workstation upgrades, I now have the latest version of NetWeaver Development Studio installed (SDN_Preview_SR_5_IDECE71). This new version does not like the old project that was created for this task, and I am struggling to create a new project which will do what I need.
    Can someone point me to up-to-date documentation that explains how I can create a project which contains only a single java class that is to be deployed to a web portal? The class that is created extends the SAP class; com.sap.engine.interfaces.security.auth.AbstractLoginModule.
    Please note that I have already look at some of the online documentation, for example: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/e1/8e51341a06084de10000009b38f83b/frameset.htm
    And that was of no help as it seems the documentation is no longer up-to-date with the current version ... or am I looking at the wrong documentation?
    Another possibility is to install the older NetWeaver Development Studio, the problem here is I do not know where I can download a copy for Windows? I can only find the latest version for Windows online.
    Thanks in advance for any and all assistance,

    Hi Andreas,
    You need to do the following:
    - Upload the text file as a local configuration file in the "Local Content":
    http://wikis.sun.com/display/OC2dot5/Uploading+a+Local+Configuration+File
    - Create an OS Update Profile for the configuration file:
    http://wikis.sun.com/display/OC2dot5/Creating+an+OS+Update+Profile
    - Create a job and select the profile you have created as well as the servers you want to deploy the text file on:

    Your forms won't need anything to run on the web. I suggest you refer to the "Guidelines for Web Deployment" document which you can find by searching Form builder Help for Guidelines or navigating tools\doc60\guide60 folder. Best of Luck

  • How to migrate a flex app from Flex Builder 3 to Flash Builder 4.7

    Hello,
    I have written an extensive application using Flex Builder 3. I have maintained the app for several years using FB3. In the mean time I have created several mobile apps using Flash Builder 4.7. So I am very familiar with the the new framework. However, my client has requested some big changes to the app. I figured this would be a great opportunity to migrate the app to FB4.7. I would like to keep the mx structure for the time being. So, are there any good documents concerning this migration path? What SDK should I use. Should I start using the Apache Flex SDK?
    Thanks,
    --randu

    Hello Raja,
    Thanks. Your reply has been very helpful.
    For deploying the Flex app, as a web on NW 04S, I did the following:
    - Created a web project and included the following files as web-content. These files were created using the Flex builder or in the Flex development perspective of NWDI - CE, you can find them in the "bin" folder of your Flex project.
       - AC_OETags.js
       - your-app.html
       - your-app.swf
       - history.htm
       - history.js
       - history.swf
       - playerProductInstall.swf
       - crossdomain.xml - This file is important, if our Flex app wants data from the server.
        ( I made the simplest possible crossdomain.xml containing
           <allow-access-from domain="*" secure = "false"/>
      -  Declare "your-app.htm" as the welcome file in web.xml
      -  Package, this .war after building this web project in an Enterprise application project and build it.
      Now, you have the .ear made, which is deployable on your NW Web AS.
    Apart from this, another thing which is important to be included in your Flex mxml code is the following:
    ( Thanks to Abesh for this........ )
    - You have to tell the Flex app, in the action script, as to from where should the Flash engine pick the crossdomain.xml ( in case you are accessing the server for data from your app)
    You might have noticed, we packaged the crossdomain.xml along with our other web content in the .war.
    So mention, something like this in your action script.
    Security.loadPolicyFile("http://<hostname>:<http-port>/<context-root fo your web app>/crossdomain.xml");
    The code will work like a charm.
    Hope this helps everyone.
    Thanks guys.
    Best Regards, Gagan.

  • Deploying servlets in the Sun One Web Server 6.1

    Friends, Please let me know how to deploy servlets in the Sun One Web Server 6.1.
    Thanks in advance,
    Madan.

    You cannot get that behavior.
    When an SSL client and server negotiate the connection, the client sends a list of all the cipher suites it supports. From that list the server will pick the most secure cipher suite which it also supports (if the server doesn't support any of the cipher suites proposed by the client, the connection establishment will fail).
    RC4 (128bit) is more secure than 3DES (112 bit). Thus, a server will never pick 3DES above RC4_128 if both are valid options (i.e. when both client and server support both). If you really wanted to force use of 3DES you need to disable RC4_128 in the server (or all the clients; or both).

  • Using Weblogic to Deploy Simple Flex App

    Hi,
       I am trying to deploy a simple Flex application in a weblogic8.1  server , so that I can use it locally.
    Can any one please guide me where and how I have to deploy my flex app .
    I am pretty new to this can any body provide me a guide or walk through step wise for me.
    More over What is the url I need to give in the browser to access the flex app I deploy in the Weblogic server.
    (At present I am using the IIS -- just copying the .swf file and wrapper html page in to the C:\Inetpub\wwwroot and giving http://localhost/test.html
    in the browser to access it) ---  How do I do this using Weblogic 8.1
    thanks
    Nash

    Hi again Nash,
    the stuff I am doing at present is not yet permitted to be publicly available, but the principles are very straightforward. Remember that WebLogic is primarily concerned with server-side functionality and Flex with client-side, so there is not really a great deal of overlap. The place where your Flex instantiation code will sit is in one or other JSP, using code very like the templates that Adobe generate. The only thing you have to do is ensure that your JSP (or the controller/code files behind it) generate HTML that contains the necessary. I tend to use the Apache Beehive libraries for UI stuff, but from vague memory I don't think these were around in WL8 - however, it doesn't really matter what tag library you prefer as all you are doing is generating HTML that looks like the usual JavaScript calls to AC_FL_RunContent (or swfobject if you are using that method). Basically, just take the Adobe-generated template and wrap the necessary bits and pieces round the edge to make it a proper JSP.
    When you need to make calls to get functionality, just use something like
                        service = new HTTPService();
                        separator_date = new Date();
                        service.url = "get_tool_list.jsp?sep=" + separator_date.valueOf();
                        service.addEventListener(FaultEvent.FAULT , fault_handler);
                        service.addEventListener(ResultEvent.RESULT, resultHandler);
                        service.resultFormat = "text";
                        CursorManager.setBusyCursor();
                        service.requestTimeout = WEB_SERVICE_TIMEOUT;
                        service.send();
    and then inside get_tool_list.jsp (or whatever...) do the server-side functionality you need, and return the result in a suitable format that the Flex resultHandler method can then interpret and make use of.
    Hope that helps,
    Richard

  • Macromedia Flex app talking to Portal

    Hi All,
    I need my Macromedia Flex app to communicate with my Portal. I was wondering what is the best way to achieve this:
    1. Calling a JSP and sending some XML containing the data, or
    2. Developing a Portal Service then exposing it as a Web Service.
    Also, with the Portal service how do i get hold of the request object?
    Thanks in advance,
    Raj

    1. in my opinion option 1 would be better and you can easily massage the data and send it as the way you want it.
    2. other option would be use Flex-Ajax Bridge. where you can create flex controls at runtime from javascript.
    <a href="http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/Flex-Ajax_Bridge">Flex-Ajax Bridge</a>
    look about for my weblog on FA bridge with BSP in couple of days time.

  • Have you used Macromedia Flex?

    Have you used Macromedia Flex? What's your opinion of it? My manager is good at
    latching onto the flavor-of-the-week, but things I've read about Flex makes it sound
    pretty good. Does anyone have any war stories?
    Thanks,
    Laszlo

    From what I understand, Flex can be compared, roughly to JSP:
    JSP:mixes html markup (typically) and jsp tags with Java and JavaScript in a text file (*.jsp).
    The jsp-engine compiles that and what's delivered to the client's browser is html+JavaScript.
    Flex: mixes XML markup with STL-like tags and tags for controls (they claim dozens, including tree
    and calendar controls, editable comboxes etc...) and tags for layout (think LayoutManagers).
    The event handlers are written in ActionScript which is supposed to be very JavaScript-like (and
    in one place I read it was statically typed, hurrah!). Again this goes in a text file (*.wxml).
    The Flex engine compile *.wxml files into flash programs (*.swf) and delivers this to Flash running
    on the client. Flash, not the browser, executes the dynamic content.
    Here are some of my concerns and non-concerns:
    The Ubiquity of Penetration (is that an episode of Oz or what?) Flash is on a lot of desktops, but
    Macromedia plays Three Card Monty by not pointing out that Flex needs the latest version (7)
    to run, and that version is not everywhere, yet. But as their surveys show, it may be everywhere within a year.
    This is a non-concern for me. I write apps for gov't employees so I've got a different issue: many of them
    work in the boonies where their LAN support is execrable. And on top of that, their desktops are so screwed
    down, the only thing they can install are browser plug-ins. So Flash fits.
    The cost. Flex retails for $12,000 USD. That's seems a lot to me for something that's just in
    the presentation layer.
    This is version 1.0. Flash may be stable but how buggy is Flex?
    Where's the Java?. ActionScript is supposed to be Java-like, but what would be cool would being
    able use a subset of Java and the API for the dynamic content. This could be compiled on the server-side
    and something like byte code could be sent to Flash to execute.
    How fast and responsive are the Flash programs?
    How big are the Flash programs generated by Flex to download? And how good are browsers at
    caching flash programs? Do they use the same mechanism as for caching images? I'd hate to
    redownload a flash program over a dialup line when bouncing between screens.
    How good are the controls that Flex delivers? How does it compare to Swing, say. How comprehensive
    Is their set of events?
    What do you need on the server-side? Flex communicates to sever apps via (1) Web Services
    (2) remote objects or (3) http calls, among other things. The Flex engine itself is a web-app, and
    they list their system requirements as WebSphere 5+ (although it runs in Tomcat 5.0). Unfortunately,
    our production admins only support WebSphere 4 Server.
    Aside: I went to a product demo on Monday, and I have to say salesmanship in software products
    creeps me out. Maybe because I came into programming through the back door, from math and logic,
    but at demos I feel like I'm being sold a used car. The presenters kept referring to ROI. What do I know
    about ROI? I thought they were talking about Le fils do roi...
