How to determine domain name in db_link?

Hi all,
when executing:
create database link TST connect to myuser identified by pippo using 'MYTNS';I obtain the db link name with a suffixed domain, for example:
TST.DOMAIN.COM
Where does that domain come out from?
How to determine it before db link creation?

I have a windows 2003 server running Exchange 2007. I am wanting to rename the domain, however when I search the web for the process to perform a rename of the domain I see "The domain rename operation is not supported in Microsoft Exchange Server 2007".

The server runs active directory, dns, dhcp, and Exchange 2007.
This change is being inspired by the change with SSL certs where internal addresses like .local will no longer be supported in the third party certificate registrars. Recently we renewed our cert and did not include the .local URL. Now the internal
systems are getting warnings about the cert. I tried generating an internal self signed cert but it seems only one cert can be valid with exchange 2007 running on windows 2003. Thus the internal cert replaced the external cert and allowed
the internal systems to run without complaining about the cert but the external access was causing warnings. I reversed back to the third party cert. This cert has company.com and mail.company.com and autodiscovery. I believe if I rename
the server to server2.company.com the autodiscovery will allow the server2 to be mapped to company.com and the cert will be valid for internal clients.
Do I have this correct? Are there errors with what I have found so far?
Any suggestions about how to solve this issue short of getting a new server? How can I rename the domain?

As you mentioned, the domain rename is not supported in Microsoft Exchange Server 2007.
About your question with certificate, we can change URLs to xxx.domain.com. More details about this workaround, please refer to:

Note: please make sure the same name with certificate.
Additional, Microsoft do not recommended to install Exchange server on a DC. I suggest install Exchange server on a member server. More details to see:

How to find domain name for the host

I have found the hostname but I am not able to find the domain name , how can I do that?? From the forums I was able to understand why the BSP Application was not displaying but unable to execute the same as I was unaware of the domain name.

What about doing something like this?
data: urls type tihttpurls2,wa type IHTTPURLS2, host type string.
call method cl_http_server=>get_extension_info
EXPORTING
extension_class = 'cl_http_ext_bsp'
IMPORTING
urls = urls.
concatenate sy-sysid '.' into host.
translate host to lower case.
loop at urls into wa.
replace host in wa-host with ''.
endloop.
The idea is that you get all the possible URLs and then delete the host part of it. Then you get the domain.

I've developed a custom security provider and deployed it in WL_HOME/server/lib/mbeantypes folder. I also have multiple domain created and running in the same machine. now if a user logs in from a specific domain, say, t3://localhost:7005, how do I retrieve the domain name in my custom security provider?
I found the following code could do it, but this code needs to know the port number in advance

Hi Fabien.
The first domain you listed is not a real domain. It is your development URL. You do not make a domain with BC for your actual domain.
You need to purchase a domain with a domain hosting company in your country, one that you like or is recomended to you.
Then you need to set up the Domain in the hosting company as you want it if you want to use emails etc and just set what is called an A-Record to BC for the web traffic or if you want it all through BC you point everything to it.

I'll second that it's probably a DNS issue, although it may also have to do with the server's configured hostname (which was entered when the server was first set up). Basically, the requirement is that a DNS lookup on the hostname should return the server's primary IP address, and a reverse DNS lookup on the primary IP address should return the server's configured hostname. If you want the server to be set up as B.com, you need to:
a) make sure its configured hostname is "B.com" (you can check it with the "hostname" command). If it isn't, use the "changeip" command to fix it. If your server's IP address was 1.2.3.4, the command would be "sudo changeip - 1.2.3.4 1.2.3.4 A.com B.com".
b) make sure the DNS forward and backward lookups work right. Use the command "host B.com" to check the forward lookup (it should answer with 1.2.3.4, or whatever the server's IP address actually is), then "host 1.2.3.4" to check the reverse lookup (it should return B.com). If any of this doesn't work, find out who's supplying your DNS service and bug them to fix it.

How can i change the domain name from "localHost" to my system's ipaddress. So that whenever i execute the page, the page should open with the ipaddress and not with "localhost", like http://*10.34.65.175*:7101/Testing/faces/index.jsf

I changed domain name from "localhost" to ipaddress as you said, after that the server stopped working. Unable to run any application.
Then I changed it back to "localhost" and its working fine.
I am doing it for 2 reasons,
1) With localhost as domain name, I am unable to open ADF mobile browser application in Android emulator.
2) Unable to do remote debugging. Hope this could be the reason.

How to add domain name to SharePoint URL so SharePoint used FQDN address?

I have SharePoint sites with fully qualified domain name (FQDN). I have DNS and SharePoint configured to access sites with the FQDN links. I work in an organization with users who have logins in different domains, SharePoint servers are in different domains,
and users who connect to the SharePoint externally. So, the FQDN links used for SharePoint sites works great in getting users connected. However, some users enter sites with no FQDN, i.e http://sharepointsite v.s. http://sharepointsite.domain.com, and some
of the SharePoint features do not work or they may not be able to connect to sites.
The problem is that users have short-cuts or favorites or hyper-links with links that are non-FQDN.
In my alternative access mappings, I have both settings for non-FQDN and FQDN, like http://server and http://server.domain.com, but this does not help. The public URL zone is the FQDN and the site collection is the FQDN URL.
Is there a way for DNS to add the domain.com automatically to web links, if they don't have them? Anything I can do differently in SharePoint?

In the alternative access mappings, I tried adding a http://site as in Internal URLs in the default zone and SharePoint would not take it. I tried adding the URL in the intranet zone and SharePoint said it was already
added.
So, this did not work.
DNS settings are:
Alias (CNAME) = sharepointsite
Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) = sharepointsite.domain.com
Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) for target host = server.domain.com
When I type in sharepiontsite in IE address bar, it will revert to
http://sharepointsite.domain.com. So, that is working, but the URL is not converted to a FQDN with a full address, like
http://sharepointsite/project/default.aspx
I am still stuck. Any other suggestions?

You can dojava.net.InetAddress.getLocalHost().getHostName()to get the name of the computer. But this will not give you the "domain name of the user". In Windows, for example, when I sign on to my computer, that user name only means something to my computer. There's no "domain", in the Internet sense, involved.

How to determine the name or type of a control in a existed VI?

I got a couple of VIs other engineers created before. There are a couple of controls I can not tell the type or name of that control.
I used LabVIEW ctrl-H to try to figure out what control was used but failed. I also tried to use "Edit\Customize Control" to determine that control, still could not find it.

The name of the control is its label. It may have an empty label, meaning no name. It's also possible its label is invisible. Right click it and go to Visible Items to find out.
As for the type, the color and shape of the icon is usually the best way to tell.
Right click the diagram terminal of the control and select View as Icon. This might help you. If it doesn't, I suggest you post the 2 controls in an empty VI, and I'm sure someone can figure it out.

"Who ran me" - how to determine the name of the dbms_scheduler job that ran me

I can see plenty of examples out on the interweb which shows how you can use dbms_utility.format_call_stack to find the hierarchy of procs, functions and packages that got me to a particular point in my code.
For example, if proc (procedure) A calls proc B, which in turn calls proc C, in the code for proc C, I can query the call stack to find out that proc C was called by proc B which in turn was called by proc A
However, I want to extend this further.
For example, using the example above, if proc A in turn was started by a dbms_scheduler job, I want to determine (within proc C) the name of the dbms_scheduler job which started the whole process off.
The reason I want to do this is that I have inherited a (massive) system which is undocumented. In many places within the code, email alerts are sent out using a custom "MAIL" package to designated users (now including me) when certain long-running processes reach certain milestones and/or complete.
I have added to the custom "MAIL" package a trailer on the mails to show the call stack. I also want to show the name of the dbms_scheduler job which started it all.
Over time, this info may help me in building the "map" of how the whole undocumented system hangs together and in the meantime, to assist in troubleshooting problems

Use USER_SCHEDULER_RUNNING_JOBS or DBA_SCHEDULER_RUNNING_JOBS there is column SESSION_ID and when you know your session ID build query is very simple.
select owner, job_name
into ...
from dba_scheduler_runnig_jobs
where session_id=sys_context('USERENV','SESSIONID');
You must declare local variables in PL/SQL procedure to read owner and job_name into them. Second thing, you must handle possible exception no_data_found than can be raised when procedure is not run from job.

don't understand that, why you don't use the session, when you are in BC4J (AM.getSession()) - which will give you at least the URL you connect too (in case you use a datasource - bad luck, as it is defined within the container ..)

You should have received this information from the vendor that sold you the IVI-COM driver.
You might also consider using a native LabVIEW driver for your scope. If NI has one, I think it will be easier to use. Look at ni.com/idnet to see the available drivers.
