How to determine network bandwidth for EP 6.0 implementation

Hi
can you please guide me how to determine the network bandwith requirment for SAP EP6.0 implementation for smoother operation
Thanks & Regards
Ashutosh

Hi Ashutosh,
luckily network bandwidth is mostly not a problem as long as it is not very small, e.g. a modem dial-up 56kbps connection on client side. To make sure that the server side outgoing line is strong enough, you'd need to do some math and calculate from the expected request volume how much bandwidth you'd need. Some guidance might be taken out of the how to paper under this link:
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/documents/a1-8-4/how to perform sap enterprise portal load testing.zip.
Check chapter 2.4 in the pdf file.
For "smooth operation" you'd need network wise not only worry about bandwidth but also about network latency times and sometimes network quality in regard to % package losses or similar. If your end users are more then 1000 miles away you usualy start seeing response time increases from latency times...
The impacts of networking on performance are many, but so are the tuning possibilities. If you have a lot of end-users accessing EP over a WAN, perhaps even over the Internet, and if they do so over long distance you might want to make EP landscape WAN tuning a dedicated task in your project.
In addition the network requirements of Portal are discussed in this paper : http://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000757275&_SCENARIO=01100035870000000112&_OBJECT=011000358700003943521999E , chapter  3.5.2 Enterprise Portal.

  • How to calculate network bandwidth for dataguard 11.2

    Hi all,
have a customer who needs to setup a new data guard environment in release 11.2.0.2. Primary site will be in Italy, standby site will be in New York.
He would like to know the network bandwidth between primary and standby site needed to obtain the maximum performance in redo transport with or without compression option.
I found a lot of threads and docs indicating some formulas but none of them explained how to:
    - calculate network bandwidth on a rac system (having a single instance standby database)
    - calculate network bandwidth in case of use redo transport compression
    - calculate cpu consumption if using redo transport compression
Could you please give any advice?
    A.M.

    Hi,
customer made ma a lot of technical question just like the following:
    - which are the main factors determining the 30% overhead indicated in the network bandwidth calculation
    Required bandwidth = ((Redo rate bytes per sec. / 0.7) * 8) / 1,000,000 = bandwidth in Mbps
    - how much bandwidth will I gain if I apply redo transport compression and why redo transport compression and why usually the gzip utility gives me 5X less and oracle compression gives me a maximum of 50-60% of compression even if it uses the same engine of zlib compression as indicated below?
Data Guard redo transport compression uses the same zlib compression engine at level 1 as gzip -1. To estimate the compression ratio you can achieve using Data Guard redo transport compression, first compress an archived redo log file with gzip:
    $ gzip -1 <archive redo logfile>.arc
Then use the gzip --list option to explicitly display the compression ratio:
    $ gzip --list <archive redo logfile.arc>.gz
Note: Use gzip version 1.3.3 or later. Refer to www.gzip.org for the latest information on gzip.
Could anyone give me any direction?
    Thank you

  • The network bandwidth for Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS)

I use BITS in Powershell script to download files from Internet. The download speed is 1mb or lower. I tried set 2mb in the following local policy but not working. the reason could be the policy is not for Windows 7. Anyone has suggestion?
    Thanks.
Computer Configuration | Administrative Templates | Network | Background Intelligent Transfer Services (BITS) | Limit the maximum network bandwidth for BITS background transfers

    Hi,
The following policies are supported in Window 7
Computer Configuration | Administrative Templates | Network | Background Intelligent Transfer Services (BITS) |Set up a maintence schedule to limit the maximum network bandwidth used for BITS Background transfers
or Set up a work schedule to limit the maximum network bandwidth used for BITS Background transfers
    see this link

  • How to determine number range for billing document based on company code ..

    Hi Friends!!
can anybody tell me how to determine number range for billing document based on company code & tax departure country if required??
    Amit...plz help me!!

    Hi Amit,
    1. Define different Billing Document number ranges in  SPRO -> Sales & Dist -> Billing -> Define number ranges for billing docs. (VN01). Make sure that all are internal number ranges.
    e.g.
NO.  From number To Number    Current number  Ext
    A1   0930000000    0930999999
    A2   0940000000    0940999999
    A3   0950000000    0950999999
    2. Define a Ztable ZNUMB_RANGE as follows
Comp. Code | Tax departure country | Billing Doc Type | Number Range
    100                IN                               F2                      A1
    200                IN                               F2                      A2
    200                US                              F2                     A3
    3. In user exit RV60AFZZ (USEREXIT_NUMBER_RANGE)
Read table ZNUMB_RANGE for Number Range with Comp. Code, Tax country and Billing Doc.
If found pass this number range value to us_range_intern.
us_range_intern is a standard SAP variable which tells program which number range use to create the current document which is under process.
Let me know if you are clear.
    Thanks,

  • How to determine pricing procedure for invoice list

    Hi ,
Could you pl let me know "How to determine pricing procedure for invoice list"
All other things are available i.e.
    Create Condition Tables
    Maintain access sequences
    Maintain pricing procedures
    Define condition types
Basically how the pricing procedure will be assigned for the Invoice list.

    Hi Pinky,
Create a billing doc type by coping std.(ZF1)
Assign invoice list to billing type Zf1
Now maintain a document pricing procedure (for Eg: Z )
Assign this to billing type in pricing control - document pricing procedure.
Now maintain the pricing procedure determination as per the sales area /doc pp/cust pp.
Also in copy control in VTFL maintain pricing type as " B".

  • Sync iPod with iTunes - reduce network bandwidth for iTunes music folder

I'm using a network drive for my iTunes music folder. Average bandwidth is 50Mbps, compared to, say, an external USB HDD with hi-speed USB bandwidth of 750Mbps.
For some reason iTunes needs to consult the files in the iTunes music folder when syncing an iPod. That is, it needs to access the music files even when there is no change and no files actually need copying from the music folder to the iPod.
Because iTunes is reading my music files, it's really slowing down a sync.
How do I get iTunes only to look at my music folder when there's a file to copy. Reading each file just for a sync is consuming resources and I can't see that it's necessary - iTunes knows what is in my music folder as it has the library xml file stored locally on the PC hosting iTunes.
Anyone have any advice here ?
    Thanks.
PS have posted this Q twice before with no replies. Hopefully yet another paraphrase to make the question more relevant with get some help from a kind soul out there.
    Here's a link to my previous post(s): http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=802961

On my Mac, if the external drive with iTunes library is not connected, it will error out and ask if I want to keep looking for the files.
I'm using a network drive for my iTunes music folder. Average bandwidth is 50Mbps
Why so slow? Is it wireless? What kind of connection is it?
iTunes also wants to know if there is a file to delete or if there is a file that has changed.
an external USB HDD with hi-speed USB bandwidth of 750Mbps
USB 2.0 theoretical max speed is 480Mbit/s. Realistic max speed is ~60% of that.
iTunes knows what is in my music folder as it has the library xml file stored locally on the PC hosting iTunes.
iTunes does not use the library.xml file. It is simply created for other applications to access iTUnes library.

  • How to add network information for failover zones with logical hostname?

    Hello!
As stated in [http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-3069/ds_template-21?a=view] I must not configure network addresses for a zone when I manage these with a logical hostname:
If you require the SUNW.LogicalHostName resource type to manage all the zone's addresses, configure a SUNW.LogicalHostName resource with a list of the zone`s addresses and do not configure them by using the zonecfg utility. But when I start the zone for the first time using "zlogin -C" it does not ask me any questions about the network. Of course, there is no adapter configured. But how do I add information like routes or nameservers to the system when using a logical hostname?
    TIA
    Stephan

    Hi Stephan,
I can only assume that when the zone was configured via zonecfg without any network interfaces that sysidcfg did not ask you for the default route or name service, as such you will need to setup those parts up manually.
Please take a look at the FAQs for zones, i.e. http://opensolaris.org/os/community/zones/faq/ in particular
    http://opensolaris.org/os/community/zones/faq/#u5
    http://opensolaris.org/os/community/zones/faq/#cfg_defroute
Finally, if you require a NIS client then please see http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/816-5166/ypinit-1m?a=view

  • How to determine database growth for new B1 instalation

    Hello B1 people,
I'm working on the capacity planning of my new business one project and must know how to determine database growth. Does anyone did something like that before?
    Wich tables should I consider?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Gabriel,
I think it is difficult to make any predictions about database growth because this depends on the volume of your business transactions, the number of users, the continuity of your master data...
For example a small number of users can create a lot of transactions (accounting, logistics) with big documents like sales orders with more than 100 items, or a lot of users who primarily look up things but only create small transaction won't create too much data and thus influence database growth in totally different ways.
You should collect information about the volume of daily business to make any forecasts.
If you start with an empty database, the first big growth will be when you upload your master data, but if only few business transactions follow, you shouldn't use that first increase for your calculation.
Is this your very first B1 installation, or do you already have B1 systems running? If you use the EWA service on a running B1 installation on a regular basis, then you will get a good impression of database growth and transaction volume but you should only use this as a basis for your calculation if the business of the new installation is similar to already running company's.
    Hope that helps,
    Sandra

  • How to determine plant code for specific vendor

    Hi Experts,
I am getting list of vendors(EORD-LIFNR) from Purchasing source list (i.e EORD) for every material.
After that I would like to know how to determine plant code of any specific vendor.
Please let me know all tables links where i can get this or  transactions as well if i can see this??
    Thanks,
    Yogesh

    Hi ,
The vendor will not be created at the plant level.so we cannot get a vendor never at plant level in standard( otherwise customized)
Know if i am not wrong ,if the requirement is to find the source list of the vendor and there presence in plants it is done in the same table EORD-Werks
if there is something else let me know

  • How to determine the values for Model Parameters in Forecasting

    Hello Gurus,
On basis we will determine the values  for the Model Parameter values (Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Sigma).
    Thanks,
    Siva.

    Dear Siva,
the values are dependent from the forecast stratey and forecast model.
The forecast strategy determines the method or the techniques that are used to create the forecast. You set the forecast strategy in the forecast profile.
There are some settings that you must make for certain forecast strategies. The table below shows you which settings these are. You make these settings either in the univariate forecast profile or under the Model and Parameters tabs of the Forecast view on the demand planning desktop.
Model initialization is the process by which the system determines the necessary model parameters for the chosen forecast model. These parameters are in following link:

I hope this helps you further.

  • How to disable network connections for an application

    Hi to all,
I would like to know if there is any way a user can disable network connections for a specific application.
    Thank you,
    Xwang

Yes, but I would like to block only a specific application, not all the traffic from the PC.
I've found this "solution" which uses iptables on the net:
"Add a group to your system (I use nonet myself), then add a rule to your output chain like this: -A OUTPUT -m owner --gid-owner nonet -j REJECT --reject-with icmp-net-unreachable Run the program for which you know in advance that you want to block, with sg (sg nonet "your_prog your_args")."
Do you think is it right?
Another suggestion was to use unshare to call the program disabling the net for that program only.
The problem is that unshare is runnable only by root so, in case, I should turn on its setuid flag in order to execute the program as a normal user, but I don't know if it is safe to do that.

  • How to determine the bandwidth of a particular frequency in Labview?

    Hallo,
After i determined the frequency of a signal, i want to measure the bandwidth of this frequency. how can i do that in labview? is there a block which can calculate it directly?
    thanks in advance..

If I remember correctly, the BANDWIDTH is defined as the frequency distance between the -3dB points, relative to the peak.
It's not correct to say "the bandwidth of a frequency", you measure the bandwidth of some process, say an amplifier or a filter.
If you have a spectrum sweep of this filter, then you just measure the peak amplitude and look on both sides for the places where it crosses the 3dB down amplitudes.  The difference between those frequencies is your bandwidth.
If it's a narrow bandwidth, you'll have to pay attention to how FFT works or you won't get a good answer from an FFT.  If your FFT frequency resolution is low, your precision will be low as well.
I don't think there are any canned solutions for you.

  • How to determine frequency band for one's iMac?

I recently bought a TC and (think I) want to set up two networks. The one network I haver set up presently has an older AEBS (b/g) connected to my modem and an older AX (to extend the network and play iTunes on my sound system). This network connects wirelessly to my two iMacs: a 2.0 GHz G5 and a 2.8 GHz Dual Core.
Someone suggested that I could leave my old network as is and design a new network with TC for backups, utilizing the faster "n" standard of the TC. But when I read through the manual "Designing Airport Networks Using Airport Utility," I see that setting up two networks requires, apparently, knowing whether or not my iMac is a 2.4 GHZ or a 5 GHz client computer? How do we determine this?
Any other info you can provide me on how to setup TC to my wireless network would be appreciated.

So, in the manual Designing Airport Networks, they pair the TC with the "n" capable computer, but in the illustration provided, they have the modem connected to the TC with an Ethernet WAN cable and a LAN ethernet cable connected between the TC and the older AEBS. Is this how it HAS to be configured?
I assume that you are depicting the illustration on page 48. If so, yes this would be the proper configuration for a "Dual Band" network. In this case, you definitely do not want to connect the 802.11g base station wirelessly to the TC, because doing so you would not be able to run the TC's wireless in pure 802.11n.
Could the TC be connected wirelessly in another room to the modem? This is where the 2.8 GHZ iMac is. The modem and the older AEBS are paired presently.
Not to the modem, but to another AirPort. Again, however, if the other AirPort is the older 802.11g version, you will only be able to connect them wirelessly in a Wireless Distribution System (WDS).
Also, I've read a lot about backing up each computer the first time by way of an ethernet cable, i.e., not wirelessly? Does one simply forego configuring the network until those first backups are finished?
Not doubt not an ideal situation, but many have reported that performing the first Time Machine backup to the Time Capsule wirelessly is not quick. Depending on the amount of data being backed up, I heard anywhere from 4 to 24 hours ... or more. As a workaround, most found that performing this first backup while connected directly via an Ethernet cable reducing this time significantly.

  • How to determine network issue?

I have an older RV016 that I just upgraded to the 3.0.2.01 firmware in the hopes it would fix my issue.  It did not.
I have several devices, that when plugged into the switch slow my network performance.  If I disable the ports these are on, performance resumes to normal speeds.
With these device ports disabled, I get around 20Mb/s.  With these devices connected, I get less than 1Mb/s, as measured by speedtest.net.  The speed change is instantaneous when enabling or disabling these devices.
    They are fairly common devices:
    Global Cache GC-100
    Phillips Pronto RFX9600
    Toshiba HD XA2
    Linksys PPSX1 ver. 2
All other devices I have used so far work fine.  If I move ports, the issue follows the device, not the port.
How do I determine what is causing the slowdown?  Is there anything I can do to correct this?
    Thanks in advance, Pete

Hi, My name is Eric Moyers. I am a Network Support Engineer in the Cisco Small Business Support Center. Thank you for using the Cisco Community Post Forums.
When you said "plugged into the switch" what type of switch are you referring too, or do you mean the RV016? Also have you tried turning the ports on one at a time to see if one is more a culprit than another.
One thing I would definitely do is run a wireshark analysis on the network with the ports off and then run it against each port to see what type of traffic you get out of each port as it comes up.
Please feel free to call into the Small Business Support Center and speak with one of the engineers who can help you with this.

  • How to determine the week for credit management?

Is there a transaction that will show the week for which credit is determined. For example, when running RVKRED88, it shows the week the order is processed under.

    Hi Rocha,
In Credit management S066 and S067 information structures play a vital role in updating the credit values of a customer. This works in tandem with the update group present in the OVA8 settings in case of automatic credit check.
When an order is created S066 information structure and OEIKW field is updated which increases open order value. when order is delivered S067 information structure and OLIKW field is updated which increases open delivery value and decreses S066-OEIKW
When delivery is billed S067-OFAKW value (Open billing)gets increased and S067-OLIKW gets decreased.
Updation is through the information structures S066 and S067.
In the transaction code OMO1 select the information structure and double click it. You will be faced with parameters pop-up.
In this pop-up you have radio buttons day ,week  and Month. _Based on the value you choose here you will get day or week or month for the Period split: info structure field present just besides horizon field of dynamic credit check in OVA8 Screen_If you choose week it will be till the end of the week and if you choose Month it will be end of the month. it is how system considers.
For example if we have created an order today i.e. 19/08/2011 and the Period split: info structure in the OVA8 has 1month.
System evaluates dynamic credit check as today's date + one month =19/09/2011which is =30th september,2011.
So while evaluating credit for the order, system will consider all the open orders whose  delivery date is on or before 30th september + open deliveries + open bills + A/C receivables.
