How to do a prompt

I have 2 prompts in my reports ,what I would like to do is I want to group by the promts that the user have selected.
Can some one please tell how to do it.

You can only create a group on database field. Suppose i have fields like Country,Region,City in my report. If the user enters Country in the prompt You can wite a formula like
If {?Parameter}="Country" then
else
If {?Parameter}="Region" then
else
and now insert a group on this formula. Remember that If statement will return only one datatype fields. If one is numeric and the other is string then you need to convert the numeric in to string by using totext().

I have a report prompt column which is 'Adj Type' which holds values 10,20,30 and when user selects Adj Type = 10 then this value should be passed to report column.
For Eg. Column 1 value is 10 and this should multiple with prompt value and the output should be 10* 10.

1) Declare a presentation variable in prompt under the Set Variable section -->Presentation Variable -->P_var
2) In Fx Table_name.Your_column * @{P_Var}
@{P_var}{20} ( 20 is default value it will override when a user selects value in prompt

How to use the prompted value in the filter expression

Hi
Is it possible to use the prompted value in the filter expression?
My requirement is that user will be prompted for a date field and I need to filter the records such that the records are displayed for the last 5 weeks from the date entered by the user.
If somehow I know how to use the prompted value in the filter expression then this requirement is easy to be done. If this is possible, please guide me?
If there are other ways to acheive the desired results then please suggest.

You didn't confirm whether you are using Sync or not, so I don't know which of the two would apply.

How to fill a prompt in webi with current date?

A webi report is being generated on BEx Query.
IN BEx query variables are defined for some date fields to prefill them with current date.
Foe ex. there is license start date. For this field variable is defined so that in variable screen License start date is automatically filled with greater than or equal to current date(which is system date). WHich is a mandatory variable.
On BO side, a webi report is being developed on a Universe (based on this BEx query).
When the webi report is run, the license start date(mandatory variable in BEx) is automatically prompted, but date is not getting prefiiled with current date.
How to prefill this prompt with current date?
the prompt should be like
LIcense start date >= <current date>

Yes, it isn't possible to reference anything like 'Current Date' in the universe (like you would with a SQL data source).
The solution I have seen recently goes like this, I don't know the exact details (so I might have some terminology wrong), but someone with ABAP skills should get what I mean.
Assuming you want to filter on 0CALDAY.
In ABAP, create a customer EXIT that calculates the current date as a number (so today might be 40651). Do the same for 0CALDAY.
In the BEx create a formula variable that references each of those, then a Formula Key Figure (I forget the exact name of them) that's just the current day number minus the 0CALDAY number. This gives you the 'age' of that row of data.
Your Webi report can then have a built in filter (or prompt with a default value) of, say Age <= 30. The report can be scheduled and will always run with the last 30 day's data.
We actually did the customer exists to show the 'age' in months.
Sorry I can't explain it any better, but it's working great for us.

I have a group dashboard prompt in which there are two prompts: fiscal year, and month. The month prompt is contrainted, that is, if a fiscal year is chosen, the month prompt shows only those months for the fy. My question is how can the month prompt is sorted in decending order? If that is the case,
you need to made 2 different prompts..
Assign a variable for Year prompt as year_var something like this..
And save with any name..
Now create other prompt. here you need to write a SQL in Show SQL part of your prompt.
SQL look like the following...
*SELECT month FROM SubjectAreaname WHERE YEAR = '@{year_var}' ORDER BY month DESC*
Save this with different name..
Now add these 2 in one dashboard page..
But due to this.. you find 2 GO button for each prompt.
First you need to select value from Year prompt then click on First GO button, after your month column will be populated with values corresponding to that year.. in descending order.. So again Go..

How to avoid the prompt when verifing signature?

I sign the doc with my cert.
The cert is not trusted by Acrobat/Reader itself so when i try to verify the signature Acrobat/Reader will prompt the user cert is not trusted.
My question is how to avoid this prompt through Acrobat SDK or how to add my cert to trusted cert list through Acrobat SDK?

But I have just found the cert which will cause the signature failure.
The key is the cert can not be removed.
I'm very curious that why a cert has no relationship with the signature could cause the signature failure?
Is it a BUG of Acrobat/Adobe Reader?
If not how can i operate successfully?

Which versionof obiee are you in? If you are on 10.1.3.4.1 version, apply PATCH 9492821 to fix this issue.
Can you do the following checks,
In the repository physical layer, set the column to have a data type of date
In the BMM layer, where the column is mapped, edit the column mapping to contain a CAST function to cast as date

If I schedule a report to run every month on the data of the previous month I would like to be able to change the prompt date automatically without me changing this prompt date every month. Does anyone know how I can do this?

Hi Thierry,
I could only achieve this by setting a condition in the universe to a default date. So if the date equalled the 1st January 1900 then use the system date otherwise use the date in the prompt
The code would look something like
test_date = case when @prompt('Enter date:', 'D', {MyClass\MyDate},mono,free,,,) = to_date('01/01/1900', 'DD/MM/YYY')
then sysdate
else @prompt('Enter date:', 'D', {MyClass\MyDate},mono,free,,,)
end
You can then schedule your report using 1st Jan 1900, but the user can also refresh with genuine dates

How to have three prompts with one object?

Dear collegues,
I am creating a report where I want to see an employees salary in three different periods, f.ex 11.2006, 08.2007 and 09.2007. This is no problem when I set these spesific periods as filters in the query. But how can these three periods be prompted values? So that the user can choose for which three periods he wants to see the salary?
I have used an object Month Year to try. I drag it into the filter area of the query three times, and gives it prompt-functionality and call them Date 1, Date 2, Date 3. When I try to run the query it just tells me "No data".. (BO 6.0)
Is this possible?

If I use OR, do I get all the dates and can distribute them in different columns?
(In this report we follow salary development of employees. The report shows the given salary at three different points of time for an employee).

How can I disable prompt to ask viewers to dload Flash?

Thanks to this forum, I now have a Flash video on my website. And I'm on a mac! Now, here' s my latest problem.
When I added the Flash video, there was a selection in Dreamweaver where, when clicked, the page will prompt viewers who don't have the latest flash version to download it. Way cool.
However, when I select "Insert" "Media" then "Plug in" and I add a quicktime video, I can view the quicktime video, only this prompt still appears asking viewers to download flash, and when I add the video, there doesn't appear the same selection asking if I want to prompt viewers to download Flash or Quicktime. So, what is the code to disable that function from this page?
Also, if you know the code to prompt viewers to download quicktime, that'd rock. BUT, I posted a message on the apple message boards, 'cause I realize that's their focus.

What I'm trying to do is this...
I have one page where I have a flash video. On that page, when a user doesn't have flash installed, the page correctly asks if they'd like to install it.
I also have a page with a quicktime video. I'd like it so that if a user doesn't have quicktime, the user is asked if they'd like to install it. As it is now, the page asks if they'd like to install flash. I don't want it to ask if they'd like flash, and don't see any settings in dreamweaver to turn off that feature. It automatically added it, even though I added a quicktime plugin to the page. How can I turn that off, that is, so it doesn't prompt viewers to download flash? If it's a matter of removing code, I can do that, but how will I know what flash code looks like? Please help.

the aim is to fill a drop-down list of a Year prompt only with year values that can provide data.
This Show list SQL statement works:
SELECT Time."Year" FROM "AnalysisCatalog"

Using the maxYear Repository Variable does not work:
SELECT Time."Year" FROM "AnalysisCatalog"
WHERE Time."Year" <= @{biServer.variables[’maxYear’]}

How can I achive the result without hardcoding the Year 2007?

Actually this error does not cause any harm except a presentation inconvenience. In my multi-select prompt I am using variable expression with dynamic repository variable. Dashboard results are correct. Just variable's value does not appear on page (error Error Codes: G689FFB3:SDKE4UTF
Expression: @{biServer.variables['CUR_CAL_PER_MONTH_NAME']}). Pushing "GO" button on the prompt fixing the error but it's actually second execution of the dashboard.
Any ideas ??
