Trying to download Overdrive Media Console to access public library book
    Thank you

Jeff, I'm pretty sure I activated Bluefire directly on my iPad.  Quite a time ago now, so I may have remembered wrong.
Overdrive partner with most of the UK public libraries for DRM loans.
I also only just realized Bluefire can download the .epub from the .acsm file, so no need for ADE at all.
I don't usually use my iPad for ebooks (much too heavy), so hadn't really used Bluefire that much.
I still need ADE to get the .epub so I can download it to the (Sony) eReader.
Anyway, it looks as if original poster is happy

Elsewhere: call the phone number in the Apple Online Store
You need a minimum of 1 GB memory. More would be preferable.

  • IPod Touch, version 4.2.1--Overdrive Media Console

I want to listen to audiobooks from my local library on my iPod.  I have downloaded Overdrive Media Console to my iMac (iTunes).  The icons show that a particular book will play on an iPod (but not an iMac???).  It says my version of the Console doesn't support WMA audiobooks.  I'm at a total loss.  Anybody know if I'm trying to do something I just cannot do.  Thank you very much.

Thank you!  I am new to this tech stuff and though I've had an iMac for two years, I don't really know how to use this support community easily.  Before I posted my request, I did look through quite a few posts, but didn't find anything.  Clearly, there is a LOT on the Overdrive Media Console.  Guess I need to figure out how to look for specific topics.  So much these days assumes a basic knowledge of how computers work and so I spend an inordinate amount of time searching for understanding.   Again, thank  you--it seems there ARE problems with downloading audiobooks to iPods!

  • Overdrive Media Console App

Downloaded Overdrive Media Console to hopefully download books from my local library
I get the welcome page but dont know where to go from there
The welcome page gives a audio description of what is contained in it, but where do I go from there. I have tried all the buttons on the welcome screen to no avail
    Thanks

    All is well,
I just had to slide finger down from top of bezel to get to the menu
Works great , can now read my library books- guess the Sony reader can be put aside

I have downloaded OverDrive Media Console ap, and need to log into Adobe, which fails each time. Help

In the past, you have had to re-authenticate your Acrobat.com account on update if you are using the Acrobat.com features. This is something we are working on and hope to improve in future updates. Thank you for the feedback.

  • I downloaded audio books from overdrive media and my ipod nano 6th generation showed it was transferring why can't I find the audio books on my ipod?

I downloaded audio books from overdrive media and my ipod nano 6th generation showed it was transferring and now I can't find it on my Ipod where would it be?

The problem may have been in how you transfered it.  You didn't go into much detail.  Just be sure to follow the steps in the tutorial below.  Note Paragraph 5.
Many libraries worldwide now use Overdrive Media Console, which comes in Mac an Windows versions http://www.overdrive.com/Software/omc .  Some find the mobile device transfer process confusing.  To load or delete a WMA or MP3 (Macs can only download MP3 books) audiobook onto an Apple mobile device see the "How to Transfer to a Portable Device" video in the guides at Step 7, then do the following.
    1. For Windows versions, you must first do a security update of Windows Media Player (even though you won't be using it) using Internet Explorer at http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/indivsite .
    2.  Open iTunes, plug the mobile device into the computer USB port and open the Overdrive Media Console.
    3. Highlight the mobile device in the left hand menu of iTunes and insure the "Manually manage music and videos" box is checked in the Summary Tab. If the mobile device storage is full, transfering will delete that portion of music necessary for the ebook.
    4. Highlight the book you want to transfer in the Overdrive Media Console and click the Transfer Button.   A window opens permitting you to click the boxes for parts of the book you wish to transfer.
    5. After the book has been transfered, when you click the disclosure triangle (arrow) to the left of the iPod, iPhone, or iPad in the Device section of the left hand menu of iTunes, MP3 books will show up under the Music subsection and WMA books will show up in the Books subsection.  Once the mobile device is disconnected from iTunes, MP3 books will show up in the Songs list of the mobile device and WMA books will show up in the Books list.
    6. To remove a book from a mobile device plug the device into the USB port and open iTunes. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of your iPod, iPhone, or iPad in the Device section of the left hand menu of iTunes so that you can see the device’s subcontents. For an MP3 book select the Music subsection, right click on the book and choose Delete.  For a WMA book, select the Book subsection, right click on the book and choose Delete.
    7. The Overdrive Media Console Guided Tour (videos) is at http://www.overdrive.com/Solutions/Libraries/tour/MenuWelcome.html .  The "Portable Devices" and "How to Transfer to a Portable Device" videos are there.
    8. To find a nearby library for ebooks search http://search.overdrive.com .  You can download the software, search for books and see tutorials without an account at the website of any library that uses Overdrive, however, you need a library card to download books.  At this library site, for example, the software and guided tour are at the bottom of the left hand menu.

  • I just installed the latest version of iTunes to my windows 8 computer.  I was downloading audiobooks through overdrive media console just fine until I downloaded this new version. It says it has been transferred but it's not in my iPod. Help!

I just installed the latest version of iTunes on my windows 8 computer.  I was trying to transfer an audiobook I downloaded through overdrive media console to my iPod nano. Overdrive says it was transferred successfully, but it is not in my iPod.  I have had no problems transferring audiobooks until I downloaded this new version.  Help!

I just realized that part of my post got cut off.  There was a message that i could not connect to the Apple store (and my genius stopped running).

Note comment about Macs and MP3 in intro below.

  • How to transfer book from overdrive media console to iTunes 11?

I've downloaded a book from my library using Overdrive.
The Overdrive media console video shows how to load the book into iTunes.
However, I cannot select iTunes as a destination for the download - iTunes launches when I go to the download selection window, but iTunes is not shown as an option (I can download directly into my iPods).
How can I load the book into iTunes so that I can manage which iPod, etc. that I want to carry it at any given time?

Do it for free on a PC running iTunes.
Do it for free on an older Mac capable of running Audion.
    Conversion software (mostly commercial):
Switch (free basic version) - http://www.nch.com.au/switch/index.html  - I'm not sure if this will do WMA
    All2MP3 - http://download.cnet.com/All2MP3/3000-2140_4-190407.html - mixed success with WMA
Flip4mac - need the intermediate payware version which lets you convert.  Use with Quicktime player.  Flip4Mac - http://dynamic.telestream.net/downloads/download-flip4macwmv.asp?prodid=flip4mac wmv  - The free version will let Quicktime play but not convert Windows Media files.
After installation a new Flip4Mac pane will appear in System Preferences.  Make sure you set the boxes to ensure that it will play WMV files in Quicktime.
VLC - not really a converter but will do some in the export menu but may be slow and a bit of a learning curve.
Explore online converters where you upload a file in one format and download in another.

  • UNABLE TO DOWNLOAD LIBRARY BOOKS USING OVERDRIVE MEDIA CONSOLE

Hello until recently I was able to download e books from the library to my PlayBook using Overdrive Media Console. I was able to get directly to my PlayBook. However it is now not working. I am unable to download to PlayBook. I have deleted and reinstalled several times. The only way I can read is through my browser. This means I can only read where I have Internet access. I can not understand why it stopped working. I contacted my library but they were not sure what the problem is. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions. I hope I can figure it out as I enjoy borrowing books from the library.

Looks like nobody on the forum uses overdrive. Threads are mostly a year old if you search for Overdrive on the forum.
The recent reviews on blackberry world say that it no longer works.
Google "overdrive media console on playbook."
Check out the playbook instructions.   http://overdrive.com/files/TestDrive/playbooksetup-P100.pdf
    Contact the developers
    Contact the library.
Remember they only sold two million playbooks worldwide which is a tiny number. Support for this minority app may be hard to find.
If you dare, you could try the security wipe and start again, but you may lose all your data as you need to backup and restore which is risky.
    EDIT
Ask your library if their website has been updated to the new system which may work differently.

  • Downloading audiobooks from OverDrive Media Console

When I download an audiobook to my iphone4 using OverDrive Media Console it appears as being in correct order when I look at it in iTunes but not on my phone.  How can I get it in the correct order on my phone.

I agree that transferring audiobooks to an iPhone using Overdrive is very flaky.  My biggest issue now is that when I do a transfer, about every 3rd or 4th segment doesn't transfer successfully.  I have to go back and select those and transfer again and then they are out of order with no apparent way to put them in the correct order.  So when I start listening to the book, I have to closely monitor when I am at the end of a part so that I can manually select the next part.
    My latest transfer of a book with 14 parts placed 2 versions in Audiobooks with the order 5, 12, 1, 2, 3, 6, 8, 9, 10, 13, 14. (missing parts 4, 7, and 11)
    When I went back to Overdrive and selected parts 4, 7, and 11 to transfer, my iPhone then had a playlist with the book with the order 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, 4, 7, 11.
    Crazy!!

  • How do I install overdrive media console?

I have a Mac with OS 10.9.2. I followed the library instructions: 1. Create an Adobe ID; 2. Tap the App store ; tap the search bar in the top right corner and enter OverDrive Media Console; then tap the blue SEARCH  on the keyboard. THERE IS NO BLUE SEARCH ON THE KEYBOARD. I tried Enter, but the answer is "Your search found no results".

You will need an application that is compatible with the Palm OS. I looked on that site you provided and I didn't see an application for the Palm OS. It looks like that is a Windows desktop program only.
You can look for ereaders for the Palm OS by doing a google search for that type of program.
Mobipocket reader is compatible with the Palm OS.
For reference purposes, click on the following link for the support page for your device on the kb.palm.com webpage.
