How to dynamically generate parameters based on dropdown?

Hello,
newbie ABAPer question..
I was wondering if it's possible to dynamically create a UI based on the values on a drop list/drop down box?
For example, screen would initialize too
dropdown list filled with 1 - 50
field1 field2
user selects 10 from the drop down list, then the screen would look like this:
drop down list dropdown list filled with 1 - 50
field1 field2
field3 field4
field5 field6
field7 field8
field9 field10
field11 field12
field13 field14
field15 field16
field17 field18
field19 field20
thanks for looking!

Then you need to use fm
FREE_SELECTIONS_DIALOG
for dynamically generating the selection parameters screen.
Please make a search on this forum for sample code how to use this

  • How to dynamically generate HTML in Servlet without all the out.println?

    Since I am not sure whether this is a Java Servlet or JSP problem, so I will describe my situation. And hopefully someone can propose a good solution. I came from a PHP, so Java Servlet and JSP are still a little bit foreign for me.
    My problem
    My front end is a JSP page that essentially contains a form (let’s call it form1). The reason it is a JSP not a HTML is because I will need to load form data from the backend and display them in the form. Once the user submits the form, it will go to a backend Java Servlet (let’s call it servlet 1), which loads data from files according to user input. Then, I will need to dynamically create a new form (let’s call it form2) based on the data loaded from files. Once the user inputs and submits form2, another Java Servlet (servlet 2) will do more processing. That is the end of line. Both form1 and form2 require Javascript.
    My question is that since servlet 1 will need to dynamically create form2. I naturally will want a presentation control. Instead of doing out.println(“html code”), I want to use JSP and write direct HTML code. On the other hand, can JSP be used as a form action? So basically, in form 1, can I do <form action=”…/xxx.jsp”> I think I saw something like this, but I lack the comprehensive JSP knowledge to know for sure. More importantly, if hypothetically JSP can be used, how do I handle functions such as doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response), which is used in servlet1.
    Thank you,
    M

    no, servlets should not be used to generate a view, that is what a JSP is for. So let your backend servlet fetch the data, put it for example as attributes of the request scope (request.setAttribute()) and then forward control to a JSP that will generate the view, based on the information you stored in the request scope. That is the proper way of using servlets & JSPs; use servlets to invoke business logic classes, use JSPs combined with JSTL to generate the view. If you do it properly, you don't need ANY java code in your JSP.

  • Generate Comp based on dropdown list and checkbox selection?

    I currently have a dropdown list with three sizing options in it. Then I have two check mark boxes, one if checked ideally would create the template at its normal composition size and if the other checkbox is checked it would inverse the widthxheight of the composition size. Then below that I have a "generate" button that I want to be able to click and depending on my selections it creates the comp.
    It sounds like I need some sort of if then statement but I'm having a hard time putting the two together. See below what I have so far.
    There may be parts missing but I have it all working in a decibel pallate currently. I just don't have the functionality tied to a button yet.
    Any help would be much appreciated!!!
    (also I don't know how to format the extend script on here so apologies for that)
    // palette controls
    templateGen.VerticalCheckbox     = new Object();
    templateGen.HorizontalCheckbox    = new Object();
    // define values for the controls
    templateGen.comLookup            = new Object();
    templateGen.compLookup          = 'Template1';
    templateGen.compLookup          = 'Template2';
    templateGen.compLookup          = 'Template3';
    function templateGen_getHashValues(hash)
      var ary = new Array();
      for (k in hash) {
      ary.push(hash[k]);
      return ary;
    // "composition" menu
       var panelGrp1 = templateGen.palette.add('Panel', undefined, 'Comp Templates');
      compGrp1 = panelGrp1.add('group', undefined, 'Templates List');
      compGrp2 = panelGrp1.add('group', undefined, 'Orientation');
      compGrp3 = panelGrp1.add('group', undefined, 'Generate');
      templateGen.compList                                             = compGrp1.add('dropdownlist', LIST_DIMENSIONS, templateGen_getHashValues(bapple.compLookup));
      templateGen.compList.helpTip                                = "Choose the type device template you want here. All comps are 60fps.";
      templateGen.compList.selection                             = 'Template1';
      templateGen.compList.graphics.foregroundColor  = darkColorBrush;
      templateGen.VerticalCheckbox                           = compGrp2.add('checkbox', undefined, 'Vertical');
    templateGen.VerticalCheckbox .value = true;
      templateGen.HorizontalCheckbox                          = compGrp2.add('checkbox', undefined, 'Horizontal');
      templateGen.HorizontalCheckbox .value = false;
    templateGen.generateBtn1      = compGrp3.add('button', undefined, 'Generate');
      //applyBtn.onClick =????;

    When I work with dropdowns I always like to attach the data they represent (like width and height of the comp in this case) directly to the items.
    I didn't execute the code to really check it, but it should work like this:
    // add templates to your dropdown and store the items in an array
    var templates = [];
    templates[0] = templateGen.compList.add('item','template1');
    templates[1] = templateGen.compList.add('item','template2');
    templates[2] = templateGen.compList.add('item','template3');
    // attach a width and height to each item
    templates[0].width= 1280;
    templates[0].height= 720;
    templates[1].width= 1024;
    templates[1].height= 768;
    templates[2].width= 1920;
    templates[2].height= 1080;
    // choose the item that should be selected by default
    templates[0].selected = true;
    applyBtn.onClick = function(){
            // read the width and height from the selected item
            var width = templateGen.compList.selection.width;
            var height =templateGen.compList.selection.height;
            if(templateGen.VerticalCheckbox.value){
                  // swap width and height
                  var temp = width;
                  width = height;
                  height = temp;
            // now create your comp here with the given width and height

  • Dynamically Generating Views Based on Data Entered in Planning

    I was wondering if this is possible: When a user enters data into a web form by selecting an intersection in the Page view say Div1->Region2->Dept3, is there any way to dynamically then generate a subform which has only this intersection in the page view? This way if the user comes back, they do not have to go to the original webform and select the intersection again, they can just go to this "sub-form" with this one intersection into which they entered data.
    It does not look like it is possible, but just wondering.
    Version is 11.1.1.3.

    I don't think I totally understand what you are trying to achieve but have you looked at user user variables where a user can select say an entity member as a user variable and the user variable is used in the form, if the user keeps the same value in the user variable the form will retrieve the same entity value the next time the form is run.
    It may not achieve exactly what you want but it is worth looking into.
    Also in 11.1.2 there is the additional functionality of users being able to generate adhoc webforms.
    Cheers

  • How to dynamically generate textbox and update datbase

    Hi,
      I am creating a from which has steps number of steps varry from process to process, so what I am thinking is to display one text box intially and to display another text box and hide first text box when user click next text button, Is there a way to do this ,,,,
    thank you.

    If you're using CF7 or later, you can use Rich Internet Application forms (aka Flash Forms) which gives a number of options as far as "tabbed" forms go.
    If you're using CF6 or earlier, or you don't want to mess with Flash Forms, it _can_ be done using JavaScript, but it's a royal hemhorroid to work with.

  • How to run business services as dynamically generated Subject?

    Hi experts,
    I have configured a business service which puts a message on a JMS queue in a weblogic container other than ALSB's weblogic container.The queue is configured with a security policy [say a 'MessagePublisher' role], so that only users with role of 'MessagePublisher' can send message to that queue.
    We have different partners SFTPing messages(xml/csv/excel format) to us, of which only few of them would have a role of 'Message Publisher'. I have configured a proxy to read these files from a directory, however sender of some of these messages may not have a role of 'Message Publisher'.
    I am expecting the senders' credentials to be appended to the message by some process on SFTP server. How can I generate a 'Subject' within a proxy using these credentials and do a run as on the business service, so that only users with the role of 'MessagePublisher' succeed in sending message to the queue.
    I probably can configure my business service to run as a user account who has the relevant role, but I do not want to hard code the UserAccount within business service and obtain a user account using sender's credentials.
    Is ALSB not supposed to be used as suggested above?Would highly appreciate any thoughts on this..
    Regards.

    The JMS business service can use only a static service account. I think this has an undesirable implication that the business service cannot be invoked as a dynamically generated subject.
    Only way I know of to enforce role based access control in this scenario is to have an extra proxy service in front of JMS business service. Enforce access control over this extra proxy service.
    To invoke this extra proxy service with credentials embedded embedded in the message, I think you need to look at "custom authentication" option under message level security. I am not sure how this would work. May be someone here can explain that.

  • How to dynamic select based on runtime value ?

    how to dynamic select based on runtime value ?
    I want to write a select function, which do selecting based on parameters. eg,
    CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION myfunction
    (tableName VARCHAR2, pkName VARCHAR2, pkValue VARCHAR2, requestString VARCHAR2)
    RETURN VARCHAR2 AS
    BEGIN
    select requestString from tableName where pkName=pkValue;
    RETURN NULL;
    END;
    myfunction('users', 'user_id', '100', 'user_name'); it will select 'user_name' from table 'users' where 'user_id' = '100'.
    This way could save lots of coding. but it can't pass compiler. how to work out ?
    Thanks.

    While this may save code, if used frequently it will be ineffecient as all [explicative deleted]. The danger is that it would be used even for repeatable statements.
    This mode of operation ensures that every statement [calling the funciton] needs to be reparsed, which is extremely expensive in Oracle (in CPU cycles, recursive SQL and shared pool memory).
    Such reparsing is rarely a good thing for the environment ... it could easily lead to buying more CPU (bigger box) and therefore adding more Oracle license ... which could quickly exceed the typical developer's salary.
    However - if you really, really want to do this, look up 'execute immendiate' in the PL/SQL manuals.

  • How to put links (name anchors) in a dynamic generated page

    I have a page (results.asp) that gets dynamically generated
    from a db using a DW and MySQL app. The page (a table) looks
    sometihng like this:
    Year Card #
    1951 01
    1951 02
    1951 03
    1952 01
    1952 02
    1953 01
    1953 02
    1953 03
    and so on
    I've made the "Year" column a text link and added a Pop-Up
    Menu behavior so that users could select a year and jump directly
    to a specific section of the page (table). However, I'm not sure
    how to put a <a href> name anchor in for each of the years.
    For instance calling :
    <a name="1951">1951</a>
    from a declaration of:
    <a href="#1951">Go to year 1951</a>
    I would want to call each year (1951, 1952...1973) using name
    anchors. But again, I'm not sure how to put all the named anchors
    in a document that gets dynamically generated. It is a a table that
    gets its data generated via a Repeated Region. Hope this question
    makes sense. Any suggestions/comments appreciated. Thanks.

    If you year card allways follows that format then you could
    use the
    following code on the page.
    Outside of the repeat region have this statement
    <%
    Dim TestYear, CurrentYear, ThisYearCard
    TestYear = "0000"
    %>
    Then in the repeat region where you want the anchor to appear
    use this code
    <%
    ThisYearCard = recordset.fields.item("YearCard").value
    CurrentYear = Left(ThisYearCard, 4)
    If TestYear <> CurrentYear then
    response.write("A name='") & CurrentYear & "'>"
    TestYear = CurrentYear
    End if
    %>
    Where you want the Year card to appear you would then use
    <%=ThisYearCard%>
    rather than the recordset element.

  • How to dynamically execute generated SQL statements using 11gR2 ?

    Hello,
    I'd like to know if it is possible to do what the following statement intended to do:
    select * from (select replace('select empno from emp',
                                 '') from dual);in other words, is it possible to dynamically generate and execute a select statement in a from clause ?
    thank you for your help,

    Hello Aketi,
    That is totally WICKED !!
    I've been playing with the code you posted, pretty much since you did, trying to figure out how it works. I have some idea of how it works now but, I cannot figure out why I get the set of results, not once but TWICE.
    When I run the query you posted above, this is what I get:
    SQL> @getxml2
    TABLE_NAME                          count
    CLOB_EXAMPLE                            1
    D42                                     1

    DEPT_2                                  0
    DEPT_ACCIDENTS                          6
    DEPT_EAST                               2
    ... some tables deleted to shorten the output
    T1                                      1
    T10                                    10
    T100                                    0
    22 rows selected.
    TABLE_NAME                          count
    CLOB_EXAMPLE                            1
    D42                                     1
    DEPT                                    4
    DEPT_2                                  0
    DEPT_ACCIDENTS                          6
    DEPT_EAST                               2
    ... some tables deleted to shorten the output
    T1                                      1
    T10                                    10
    T100                                    0
    22 rows selected.
    SQL>The result is shown TWICE. I cannot figure out why. Any ideas as to why the result is shown twice ? (I ran the statement from SQL*Plus and started a fresh instance of SQL*Plus to ensure that no settings from previous scripts would be the cause).
    Thank you for your help, great little piece of code!

  • How to pass dynamically generated string value as array name in TestStand?

    Hi All,
              I have a string variable which holds an array name as its value. The string value is a dynamically generated one. Now my problem is how to retrieve the values within the array where as the array name is stored in a string variable.
    for eg:
    fileglobals.InfoName = "Array_Name" --> fileglobals.InfoName is a string variable, Array_Name is the array name generated dynamically and it is known only at run-time.
    Array_Name[0] = "a";
    Array_Name[1] = "b";
    Array_Name[2] = "c";
    In the above case, I have to retrieve the values of a, b and c
    Any help is greatly appreciated
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Looking at your sequencefile.
    You seem to be trying to save into FlieGlobals.InfoName a string with the values of "FileGlobals.Info_0".."FileGlobals.Info_n" where n is the value of Parameter.TestSocket.Index.
    Then you are setting the value into FileGlobals.TempName from "StationGlobals.FileGlobals.Info_0" assuming Parameter.TestSocket.Index is 0.
    Is this correct?
    I realise this is a cutdown sequence file but you must make sure These variable actually exist in either FileGlobals or StationGlobals. Also with FileGlobals each SequenceFile has its own FileGlobals unless you have set the properties of the SequencFile to use a common FileGlobals.
    What was the precise error you was seeing as it will properly telling you what variable of property it can't find.

  • How to display  servlet dynamically generated image ?

    Hi,
    How to display servlet dynamically generated image ?
    I have a servlet generating a buffered image in the doGet. I want to display the image in a jsp page with other information. I'm not able to get it properly displayed.
    **Try n# 1 **************************************************************
    This displays my image but nothing elle :
    ServletOutputStream sos = pResponse.getOutputStream();
    JPEGImageEncoder encoder = JPEGCodec.createJPEGEncoder(sos);
    encoder.encode(img);
    **Try n# 2 ****************************************************************
    I tried also :
    In the servlet :
         request.setAttribute("renderedImage", img);
    and in the jsp page :
         BufferedImage image = (BufferedImage) request.getAttribute("renderedImage");
         <img src="<%=ImageIO.write(image,"jpeg",response.getOutputStream())%>" width="300" height="280"/>
    This last try draws big crap in the jsp page, thank you in advance.

    Call another servlet from the IMG tag. Have the servlet stream out the image using ImageIO (instead of writing HTML).

  • How to dynamically adjust Frequency, Phase and Amplitude for a Generated Sine Wave in C/C++?

    Hi,
    I wonder if anybody know how to dynamically adjust Frequency, Phase and Amplitude for a Generated Sine Wave in C/C++? This is a part of my project: I need to dynamically generate a sine wave voltage signal by some calculation using the data from a simultaneous analog input and another signal.
    Your help will be appreciated so much!
    Marlon

    Hello Marlon,
    Here is an example of changing frequency and ampliude for an E-series device in Labwindows/CVI. The programming should be similar in C for your S-Series device. As is says on the linked webpage above, this process is going to be very processor intensive since you will continually be creating a buffer.

  • When someone other than myself downloads an image from my web album, a dynamically generated file name replaces the original file name.  How I can prevent the original file name being replaced during the downloading process?

    When someone other than myself downloads an image from my web album, a dynamically generated file name replaces the original file name.  How I can prevent the file name being changed during this downloading process?

    Hi Glenyse,
    Here are my steps.
    1.  I upload multiple image (jpg) files onto my photo album.
    2.  I select the "sharing" by email option for this album.
    3.  I enter the recipient's email address.
    4.  The recipient receives my message and clicks on the link.
    5.  The recipient accesses my photo album and clicks on one of the images.
    6.  The image opens up to its own screen.
    7.  The recipient selects the "download" and then save file option.
    Here is the part I do not understand.  For some reason, during this "download" process, the original name which I have given to the file is replaced by different name.  So I was hoping that someone knows how to prevent the file name from being changed during the "download and save" process.
    Much appreciated if you can help me find a solution to this problem.
