How to edit text in MS Word HEADER using bookmarks?

I've been using the ActiveX calls to edit text in Word docs for a while. I assumed there was no trick to doing it in the header of a Word doc, but there seems to be no way to get into the header via LabView ActiveX calls.
Regretably, Word also makes this tricky. I found these VBA hints:
Bookmark, Go to Bookmark:
(This method does not work with bookmarks in Headers/Footers)
Selection.GoTo What:=wdGoToBookmark, Name:="Name"
Bookmark, Select a Bookmark:
(This method works when using bookmarks in Headers/Footers)
ActiveDocument.Bookmarks("BookmarkName").Select
Bookmark, Insert Text Using Range (Change Content of Range):
(This method works when using bookmarks in Headers/Footers)
ActiveDocument.Bookmarks("BookmarkName").Range.Text="Text"
Bookmark, Insert Text Using Range (Add After Range):
(This method works when using bookmarks in Headers/Footers)
ActiveDocument.Bookmarks("BookmarkName").Range.InsertAfter _
   "Text"
I have been using the first one and I was hoping one of the last three would be simple to implement, but there does not seem to be a way to do any of them via LabView.
I do not have the reports tool kit, but I have seen nothing to indicate that it is possble with that either.
So, is it possible to edit the headed of a MS Word doc?

I'm also not happy about word and LabVIEW and I hope that there will be much more improvement with the open document format... right know I have to use a word document template .
However, here is a code I use to fill bookmarks even in the header. I found that somehow the bookmark vanish after manipulation and you have to add it again.
Hope that it help ....

  • How to edit a pfd document then save using Preview?

I received a form in pdf format. I need to fill out some blanks with text and e-mail it back to the sender. I could not figure it out using Preview. Actually I tried the Adobe acrobat reader also and had zero success. Thanks

Then you know wrong. I do this routinely.
No, you are wrong. I just tried it 2 minutes ago. Neither Adobe Acrobat 7 nor 8.1 will allow you to save a filled-in PDF form. You cannot preview. You cannot print to PDF. All you can do is Print.
Why do you need to print the filled-in form to a PDF file? You just save it; it's already a PDF file!
Because saving is disabled in Adobe Reader. Usually, if one is using a fill-in PDF form, it is some important document such as a tax form. It is always a good idea to keep an electronic form of such documents. The free Adobe Reader will not allow you to do this.
As I stated above, you can fill in and print with Preview, +but you cannot save.+
No, I can save a filled-in form to PDF using Preview. It is no longer editable, but I have an electronic copy of what I entered. That is impossible using Adobe Reader.
I really did not want to respond, and from now on I will not,
    Good!
but if you say that you know Adobe Reader 8 won't let you save a filled-in PDF file, then you are spreading misinformation, and this is a disservice to those people who come here for answers. I save filled in PDF forms all the time; in your opinion, am I routinely doing the impossible?
Apparently, you must own the full Adobe Acrobat package. That will allow you to do all sorts of things with a PDF.
I think getting to the bottom of what works and what doesn't in a thread titled "How to edit a pdf document then save using Preview" is hardly doing a disservice. I appreciate your giving me the inclination to try a fill-in form using Preview again. I am quite pleased to learn that PDFView and Preview (in Tiger and Leopard) will allow you to enter data into a filled-in PDF form. Somehow I missed that. Often, it is a good idea to go back and re-try something even if you are sure you know the results. Sometimes things change underneath without your knowledge and sometime your knowledge expands to allow you to accomplish what had before been "impossible."
You can sigh all you want. But please, check your facts next time. And a bit more civility would be appreciated too. Sometimes people are wrong. That's life. The purpose of this discussion forum is not strictly to respond to questions without further elaboration. I am not here trying to make myself look smart. I am here because sometimes the questions posed are interesting and make me think. I often learn something new while trying to help someone else. That is exactly what happened in this thread. If such elaboration were not allowed, then the only people answering questions would be those who want people to think they are smart or are trying to sell some book. That would truly be a disservice.

The iPad doesn't have any text over cellular capabilities. You can use apps like Text Free to send texts to non-iOS devices, though.

  • How to edit text in a form

I downloaded a form to pay taxes, I compiled it inserting my dates but I wuold like to edit text: how can I do it?
thank you and excuse me for my bad english

I was going to comment yesterday and did not. I think I will chime in anyway for what it is worth. As Claudio mentioned, editing PDFs is not really recommended. If you have downloaded a government form, there may be some implications if you actually tried to change the form (to make it look better) and it could be rejected. I remember some time back I has a passport or visa form I think where the size of the field entry was rediculous. I lived with it and the limitations.
The form was also restricted from editing, that would have made it a bit more difficult and might have invalidated any submission. I do not know if there are any legal implications of making such changes, but there may be some aspects of the form not being accepted if you try to change it.
If you are talking about no fields available, you might want to recheck the source of the form to see if they have one with fields included (the IRS used to have forms with and without fields). If the form allows adding fields and that is the issue, then simply select the TOOLS>Advanced editing and use the form tools you need. If the form is locked, it is probably best to print the form and start using a pen.
Another option in the latter case is to print the form and then fill is in using a word processor, playing around with the placement of the text until the two line up. Then you just print the form and then reprint the text on top of it. That used to be the method folks used.

  • How to edit text in JPG image downloaded from Shutterstock? [was: help]

I downloaded a jpeg image from shutterstock.com to use for my baby shower invitation and was told that I would be able to erase the example text and add my own using adobe illustrator but having a hard time figuring this out. Please help.

You were mislead. Text in a flattened raster image (your JPEG) is essentially "burned in" and not editable or erasable in Illustrator. It is true that you could set type over (in front of) an image with Illustrator.
It may be possible to achieve the end result you want, but without seeing the image, it would be difficult to tell you how to proceed. Can you post a screenshot?

  • How To Edit Text?

    I just upgraded to EportPDF.
    With your subscription you can:
Enjoy unlimited online conversions from PDF to Word (DOCX).
    Make scanned text editable.
Maintain page, paragraph, and font attributes.
Preserve tables, images, and multi-column text.
    Export PDF comments to Word.
However, I cannot seem to edit text within the PDF.  If I try to export to Word, the resulting doc looks completely different, not to mention its missing the graphics.
All I wish to do is change some basic text in the PDF... just change a "9" to an "8".
    Please advise.

    Hi,
You can not edit the content within Pdf file by using Export Pdf But with the Acrobat.
Would it be possible for you to send me your document?

  • How to edit text in the yellow text box of a URL-link?

    Hey guys!
I´m currently working on a website in Iweb.
My current challenge is the following:
    - I´ve made a marked text a hyperlink. But when I rollover it, a yellow text box appears and shows the entire URL.
Now, I want it to show a custom edit text.
    example:
    the link is: www.domainpage.com/home/subfolder/page1234/sweet.html.
the yellow text box SHOULD SAY (example):
    "Sweet" tattoo
How do I rename the text in the yellow box?

This is a screenshot of what text boxes affect the page title.
If you can't change the necessary text box to reflect the title you want you can add the title via an HTML snippet and the following code:
    <script type='text/javascript'>
    parent.document.title = "PAGE NAME TO SHOW IN BROWSER TAB/BAR";
    </script>
Apply the code via snippet to each page you want to change the name to.

  • How to edit text in a PDF on an iPad

Away from my iMac, I am trying to edit text on a contract PDF on my iPad. Have not been able to do so in any app I've found. Any suggestions?

PDFs are not meant to be edited (except minor edits such as adding a word or changing spelling).
Adding paragraphs and such is not accomplished very easily, even with Adobe Acrobat Pro.
If you want to change something, change the original docuemnt then print it to PDF.

  • How to edit text box in Acrobat XI, created by prior versions of Acrobat

Hi, I'm having a difficult time trying to figure out how to edit a text box that was created in an older verison of Acrobat and used to fill out a form.
In my case, I've added text boxes over pre-existing text using an older version of Acrobat.
When I try to click on the text box, however, it seems to pick up on the pre-existing text and not allow me to edit the text box that I created in the past.

Try to edit the text with the 'Add Text Comment' tool which resides in Comment pane. The text used to fill the form may have been written as annotation, hence when you are trying to edit those with editing tools, original text is being edited.

  • 2.1.0.62: Bug editing text columns in multiple rows using editor-window

    Hello Forum,
I hope this is not a double post, but I did not come up with the right keywords to search for.
So here is the bug/strange annoying behavior:
When I edit multiple rows of a table using the extra edit-window, it shows the text of the previous row I edited and not the text of the actual row.
Well, sounds quit complicated so I'll give an example:
Suppose you have a table with two columns and two rows. One column is of type varchar2. Say it contains the values "one" and "two".
Now I click into the row containing "one", open the extra-edit-window and change the value to "one-1".
Then I click into the second row and also open the extra-edit-window. The window shows "one-1" instead of "two" as it should.
This is very annoying because I don't have autocommit activated and when I edit a couple of clob fields, the editor just shows the text of the previous field. I have to say commit for every row in order not to scramble the contents of multiple fields. I have to use the edit-window because the inplace editor is not very useful when editing large texts.
I observed this bug with varchar2 and clob fields but it may not be restricted to those.
I run Windows XP and conect to Oracle 10.2.0.4
    Regards,
    dhalek

    Hello -K-,
setting "Post edits on row change" indeed does prevent this bug, but leads to another problem:
When I click the rollback-button, the table data is not reverted to its original state. In fact the changes are not commited, but rolling back, does not give the old data back. I can enter "rollback;" into the worksheet and then refresh the table data to show the old values but internally SQL Developer still thinks it has uncommitted changes in the table.
I, for now, uncheck "Post edits on row change" and use the inplace editor wherever possible. That has some strange cursor bugs (sometimes puts the cursor to the end making it impossible to enter text in the middle of the field) but that does not affect other rows.
    Regards,
    dhalek

  • How do I open a microsoft word file using Teststand 2010?

    Hi All,
I am currently using Teststand 2010. I need to do a simple task, at least I thought it was simple. I want to open a microsoft word file using Teststand 2010. I thought the using the "Call Executable" would be the first step, but I am not sure how to set it up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    WJ

    Hello,
You will actually need to use an ActiveX step to use Microsoft Word. I found this forum post with a similar question and an example. I opened the example and saved it to TestStand 2010 to reattach here.
Note: you will probably need to modify the "Open Document" step to make sure the FileName of the Word document matches the real file location.
