How to ensure that giving the firefox.exe command in run dialog box in Windows opens up a specific firefox Profile?

I have a firefox profile with certain proxy settings set. When I type firefox.exe in the run dialog Box in windows it opens up the default profile. I have a firefox shortcut specified with the command line args -P "profilename". I want this to be used as it will force the custom profile. Is there an environment variable that i can set for this?

You can set the default profile to use in the Profile Manager to be used when no profile is specified and otherwise use desktop shortcuts with a profile specified (-P "profile"). 
There is also a "Don't ask at startup" check box in the PM window.

I've had the same problem. This solved it...
Go to the "Form properties..." in the File-menu. Select "Run-time" to the left and in the box "Scripting" Preserve scripting changes to form when saved: choose Automatically (Script-based state changes are saved locally in an insecure fashion. This option cannot be used for certified forms).

How can I return to the last selected item in a dialog box

In OS 9 using Dreamweaver (for example) when I was adding images to a document, each time I added one the dialog box would return to the last selected image and I could just arrow down to the next in the list, add it (exiting the dialog box) and then repeat the process until I had added all the images in the folder. Now, using OS 10.4, after I add an image, and return to the add image dialog box it goes to the first item in the folder list instead of the last selected item. this really slows the process down, and when I'm adding 100 items or so, it's a real drag. I figure there has to be a way to get the dialog box to return to the last selected item, but I don't know what it is. Help!

Yes it is done through iTunes. The iPhone will never show up in Finder as a device. I don't if this issue is before or since installation of 10.8 (a nightmare in my case, which led to significant failure issues). And because I haven't tried to remove templates since finally managing to install 10.8 (now at 10.8.4), I don't know if this is typical of the newer OS or a problem. I've been a Mac user for more than 25 years, but I think I'm nearing the end of the road. By the way, I've never needed to do this before because the manuals always offered an answer... they don't seem to do that anymore. In any case, I don't know how this works... I'd prefer an email reply if that's possible. But that would probably be too easy, and I don't know how to get a reply.

Thanks, I appreciate the help. I think this is one of the problems Apple is creating by changing the OS so often. I had fomer colleagues at [a major aerospace contractor] who told me that so many original files were ultimately lost because of the deadly change in the "Save As" operation that they are now afraid of every OS update. Apple has badly damaged their support base with that very prominent company (they won't update now until they've fully examined and understand changes in the pre-conditioned nature of OS computer functions), and they are a whole lot less enthaled with Mac-related equipment/software. Can't blame them, I too used orginal files that way (as easy-to-use templates), and lost some important files before I realized what was happening (to late to revert). Companies should not have to retrain employees each time an OS gets an update, it's can be very expensive several different ways. They learned a painful lesson with that one. And because I'm now retired and don't use multiple devices, I need iCloud like I need a hole in the head... but I'm told there's no way to keep Apple out of my computer. Fortunately, because of major problems when initially installing Mountain Lion, one hold-over of the hardware/software damage I experienced was that iCloud can no longer access my computer even though everything else is working fine again. That was the only "good luck" I had as a result of that expensive nightmare.

You have (probably accidentally) moved or deleted the Lightroom program. You need to find it (have your operating system search for lightroom.exe) and move it back to where the shortcut expects it to be.

I successfully created the table Employees, Address and Phone tables and their conresponding Java Classes. I also finished all the JPA and persistence works. Any updated data can persist to the corresponding database tables. Now I want to create the corresponding Coherence caches for these java objects. I want to know how to guarantee that all the inserted data entries are shipped to the correct Coherence caches? For example, guarantee all the employee data entries are added to the Employees caches and all the address data entries are shipped to the Address caches (do not ship the address data entries to the Phone or Employees caches)?

Is there a configuration option to prevent an unprivileged user from accessing the firefox profile manager and/or firefox safe mode?

I'm designing a locked-down Firefox user profile for use on public computers (common room in an apartment building). I can use existing plugins and add-ons to prevent access to about:config and to lock down the various firefox preferences but this is moot if a user can still access the firefox profile manager or can start firefox in safe mode. Is there any configuration setting that could prevent this?

Reinstalled 10.7.3 from the Combo Updater from apples website.
The only way to reinstall the Mac OS X or repair the startup disk running v10.7.3 Lion, is to use Lion Recovery The combo update does not do that.
How much free space on the startup disk? Not enough free space can account for the problems with your apps.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there's a minimum of 15% free disk space.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
