My problem is to retain client socket connection without opening and closing socket connection for every request.I want to open the socket connection once and send multiple requests one after the other based upon the response over the same socket.Finally I want to close the socket only after completing all my requests and receiving respective responses.I don't want to open and close the socket for each request and response.While at the same time I expect the socket to send each request only after receiving the response for the previous request.

I don't know what's you point on the wall and the player but you should do something as that:

This code is working for slider.I mean it scrolls the slider.but it dosent make any effect to sound.

I get this error (imported or checked) on an OPN module I am developing after resolving syntax errors. I am assuming it is complaining about something semantic, but there is not much information there. Is there somewhere else to look for more

I assume this is directly from the MessageAnalyzer.log file and not from the output window? Usually what I do is open the log and search for error. Sometimes the problem is repeated multiple times as each reference triggers another error.
If you want I could try with your OPN to fine your problem. But in general we don't have a lot of support for the OPN developer. Maybe we'll have more in the future if there is enough demand.

How Can I Learn To Develop Flash Games For Under $50.00 USD?

I am completely new to anything Flash. I have never written a
single line of Actionscript. I don't know the difference between
Flash and Flex. I don't know in what forums Flash developers hang
out. I don't even know what kind of coffee they drink, or if they
drink tea instead.
However, I have developed games and have been thinking about
developing some casual games and have heard rumors that Adobe is
"pushing" causal game development with Actionscript 3 and their
latest releases. So I went to adobe.com expecting to see a link for
something like "learn how to develop games in flash" or some such.
I poked around the developer related pages and didn't find anything
I thought useful.
What I did find were plenty of stuff for *existing* flash
developers. Links to articles and HowTos for specific topics and
information about products that cost a minimum of several hundred
dollars. I can't learn how to develop games and create a prototype
with a 30-day trial, and I am not going to buy a $1000 pro-grade
tool when I am an indie developer without a budget or a pre-funded
project that would justify such expenditures.
I have seen some open source stuff, but don't know if it can
do anything more than build some annoying shaking banner ads.
So let me introduce myself as a possible use-case for Adobe
Marketing and the Flash (Game) Developer community.
I am an educated experience software developer who has a day
job doing "enterprise" software stuff. I want to *play* in my free
time (evenings and weekends) with "Flash Stuff" and learn enough to
be able to build a simple game that I can put on my personal
website and have my friends download. I am not a student, so I
can't get student discounts. The money I have goes toward
toys^H^H^H^H tools for my other coding habits^H^H^H^H^H projects. I
am not interested in 30-day trials, as I may go 45-days or more
between the first and second weekends I get to play with this. I
know OOP so I want to start out learning how to do the "advanced"
stuff from day one and not have to start with dragging and dropping
PNGs w/o any coding and then "relearn" how to do it in code so I
can do anything beyond having the image appear and rotate.
I *am* willing to put time into this endeavor, but only after
I have a few things spoon-fed to me by "advocates" who's job is to
get me "hooked" and willing to invest my time to go beyond Hello
World. At the same time I am download and playing with GarageGames,
TGE/TGB, Game Maker, Dark Basic, Blitz Basic, etc. and many
complete development environments that are full-featured and
completely free if I limit myself to releasing only freeware games,
or cost me less than $50 for the "professional" version with all
the bells and whistles.
I have heard rumors and rumblings about some open source
tools being available and Adobe maybe open sourcing some of their
previously pay-to-play tools, but also understand that Adobe can
probably provide a better "comprehensive" package of tools,
documentation, tutorials, and support, *if I can find the right
place to ask/start.*
And, most of all, I don't know where to start my search as I
have no personal contacts to bug about stuff like this.
So, where can I find the big red button to push and get
everything I want handed to me on a silver-platter.

self-mocking humor and am not some clueless n00b]

Just saw your post. Better late than never. You may want to
consider GameBrix.com, where you can create Flash based, casual
games using your web browser. No downloads are required. You can
create a game from scratch using a library of images, sounds and
game mechanics. You can also upload your own. The online script
editor will allow you to view and edit the ActionScripts associated
with each game mechanic. In short, a great way to ramp up on game
design and build your own game without investing a lot of $
upfront.
BTW I am associated with GameBrix so any feedback is
appreciated.

How to detact socket connection status

hi.. i am using socket class for the connection. How can I
detect for disconnection of the socket? Because calling the Flush()
method (called writeUTFBytes() eariler) is not throwing IOError
exception. I found that AIR has some network monitor which can be
used for this case. But I am not using AIR. Also, another work
around it to connect to some URL again to check the status. I don't
really want to use this method because the application needs to
send data back to the server very very often and I'd like to be
slow down. please help me out.....thanks in advance...

We can view active RFC Connections through SMGW. But if you want to have the history of the login details I guess you need to activate Logging.
SMGW -> Goto Expert Functions -> Logging -> Select appropiate options.

Establishing Socket Connection to a slow or busy server

Currently, I'm developing an AIM-based BOT application in Java and it requires establishing a socket connection to their free and public server (host: toc.oscar.aol.com, port: 9898).
About 75% of the time a connection will be successfully established using this:
oConnection = new Socket("toc.oscar.aol.com", 9898);
25% of the time when a connection fails (timeout) is due to the server being too slow or busy to respond to the connection request; however, the server will eventually response within 40 to 60 seconds.
Let me go into details with my findings when attempting to connect to the slow/busy server:
For experimental purposes, I used the telnet command (via the DOS command prompt: "telnet toc.oscar.aol.com 9898"), the connection will be established usually within 40 to 60 seconds.
As I said before, the BOT application is developed in a Java environment and when attempting to establish a connection (using Java's Socket), a timeout exception gets raised when it hits the 20-seconds mark. It tells me that the Java Socket has the timeout defaulted to 20-seconds.
I am aware that we can define the timeout settings using Socket's "setSoTimeout(x)" method; however, it's only good for AFTER a connection is established.
Now, to sum up my findings � it clearly shows that the DOS' telnet prompt has longer "wait time" before raising any exceptions. As far as Java Socket is concerned, if a connection is not established within 20 seconds, it raises the timeout exception.
Is there a way to stretch the "wait time" or "timeout" to be longer than 20 seconds for when a socket connection is being attempted?

Yes, I also tried that option but no cigar. That
timeout value is an alternative way of using
setSoTimeout(int).
I don't think so.
First the Java documentation would not make sense:

Connects this socket to the server with a specified timeout value. A timeout of zero is interpreted as an infinite timeout. The connection will then block until established or an error occurs.
Parameters:
endpoint - the SocketAddress
timeout - the timeout value to be used in milliseconds.

IOException - if an error occurs during the connection
SocketTimeoutException - if timeout expires before connecting
IllegalBlockingModeException - if this socket has an associated channel, and the channel is in non-blocking mode
IllegalArgumentException - if endpoint is null or is a SocketAddress subclass not supported by this socket

Second my tests indicate otherwise:

I speculate that the "Connection Request Timeout"
value is platform dependent because when I use a
different machine, the request timeout is either
longer or shorter than 20 seconds.
That could well be the case.
So the proper question would be -- where is the Java
Socket borrowing the timeout value from? The settings
in Winsock?
That I don't know.

How to change the connection for a recurring report

I have a group of reports running in production on recurring schedules. I need to update the database connection for these as we are changing our server environment.
I open the report in Crystal Reports 11 and changed the database connection saved the report back to the Enterprise Server location (I also have a backup of the original). When I preview the report using the Central Management Console, the report uses the updated database connection info. When I test the recurring report I get a logon failure. When I go to the instance to look at the database logon for the recurring instance it shows the old database connection.
How can this database connection get updated for the current group of instances for these recurring reports?

Establishing Database connection for XML Data Definition?

I have a XML Data Definition which will query data from Oracle Database.
I did some research and tried few setting options in JDeveloper (11g), but had no luck on finding a way to connect to Database.
My goal is to use JDeveloper to run a XML Data Definition against Database and generate a XML File with data.
Can this be done?

It's not the same how you implement the programs in java or .Net to create DB connection. It's different over here. You have use the DataBase Links in order to make to connection with another DB and use that Link in the stored procedure or function where ever its necessary as per your requirement.

First, handle your exceptions properly.
Second, you should not normally create static database connections.
Third, hardcoding connection data like that is not a good idea.
