How to explain my Java version message?

How to explain the following Java version message?
What is 14.2-b01?
Can I install JDeveloper 10.1.2 using this Java version?
C:\Oracle\product>*java -version*
java version "1.6.0_16"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_16-b01)

What is 14.2-b01?It's the version of the Client VM. The end user doesn't care about it at least 99% of the time.
The most important part is this:
java version "1.6.0_16"
Can I install JDeveloper 10.1.2 using this Java version? Most likely as 1.6 is the newest version and Update 16 is relatively new (don't know if there is a newer one).
What are the version requirements for JDeveloper?

I'm really not sure what you mean by the HTML 'version'. The only thing I can associate with that is HTML Spec. 3.2, 4.01, 5.0 etc., but I cannot see how it relates to anything I mentioned (and in any case, the 'version' should be obvious from the copy/pasted HTML).
..The website is our client website and this problem is coming during login. I won't be able to share the credentials with you. I don't want any 'credentials', but I will expect that if you are serious about solving this problem, you will set up a version of the applet at a public URL so others can see it fail if they think it will help solve the problem. Of course, what you do is up to you, because ultimately it is your problem, not ours. (I just thought I'd stress that last part to indicate to you that it is your onus to encourage people to read, experiment & answer.)
The only change I need to do to make it work is enable update 23 and disable update 24 in Java Control Panel.Have you tried searching the bug database for hits? There were some security updates in 1.6.0_24 that affected a number of things, including copy and access to the Robot. Perhaps there was a bug introduced at the same time.
..Unless I have misunderstood & what you are trying to do is somehow related to (yet) another security bug fix. ;)

  • How to install 64bit java version

    Dear All,
I need config jvm memory greater than 2G because "Account Analyst Report" issue.
If I must need to install JAVA version 64bit, how can I do it?
Platform is: Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)
    Current Java version is:
    java -version
    java version "1.6.0_21"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_21-b06)
Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 17.0-b16, mixed mode)
    Please Help!!
    Thanks,
    Jackie

    Hey, Guys,
    Thanks for your information.
    Customer's information:
    EBS version: 12.1.3
Platform: Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)
The instance was fine, after run pre-clone scripts, then OPP service can not start up.
I tried these notes and doesn't work.
At first, customer's error message is:
    "Invalid maximum heap size: -Xmx5120m
The specified size exceeds the maximum representable size.
Could not create the Java virtual machine."
Then, I let customer set to 2G, 3G and 4G. Also doesn't help.
    I checked customer's context file:
    See following information:
    <oafm_jvm_start_options oa_var="s_oafm_jvm_start_options">-server -verbose:gc -Xmx256M -Xms64M -XX:MaxPermSize=128M -XX:NewRatio=2 -XX:+PrintGCTimeStamps -XX:+UseTLAB -XX:+UseParallelGC -XX:ParallelGCThreads=2 -Djava.security.policy=$ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/oacore/config/java2.policy -Djava.awt.headless=true -Dhttp.webdir.enable=false -Doracle.security.jazn.config=/AP/crp2/inst/apps/CRP2_m4000/ora/10.1.3/j2ee/oafm/config/jazn.xml</oafm_jvm_start_options>
    <oafm_jvm_stop_options oa_var="s_oafm_jvm_stop_options">-server -verbose:gc -Xmx256M -Xms64M -XX:MaxPermSize=128M -XX:NewRatio=2 -XX:+PrintGCTimeStamps -XX:+UseTLAB -XX:+UseParallelGC -XX:ParallelGCThreads=2 -Djava.security.policy=$ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/oacore/config/java2.policy -Djava.awt.headless=true -Dhttp.webdir.enable=false</oafm_jvm_stop_options>
The max is 256M, min is 64M, then I let customer to increase the value, run autoconfig, but also doesn't help.
Another engineer said customer should install 64bit java version on 64bit platform. His comments is:
    Please check the java version.
The 32bit Java version can only address 2GB memory which in reality is 1500M for VM Heap Space.
If customer needs more than 1500M VM Heap space, then they need to install the 64bit Java version.
    And customer run command:
    java -versionoutput is:
    java version "1.6.0_21"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_21-b06)
Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 17.0-b16, mixed mode)
    Then engineer provide solution:
    update FND_CP_SERVICES
    set DEVELOPER_PARAMETERS = 'J:oracle.apps.fnd.cp.gsf.GSMServiceController:-mx1024m'
    where SERVICE_ID = (select MANAGER_TYPE from FND_CONCURRENT_QUEUES
    where CONCURRENT_QUEUE_NAME = 'FNDCPOPP');
    and commit.
But customer need config jvm memory greater than 2G because "Account Analyst Report" issue.
If I must need to install JVM 64bit, how can I do it?
    Our EBS version is 12.1.3
    That's the whole process.
    Please HELP!!!
    Thanks,
    Jackie

  • How to add new Java version to Java Preferences?

    Greetings,
I know Java 7 is not officially supported, but I know it works.
I built 1.70.jre and put it in /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines, but I do not know how to add to  Java Preferences.
Does anyone know where the list of Java versions is stored and how to add a version to it?
    Thanks

Fixing the permissions did not fix it.
I think there  to be a record somewhere of what version are where. That is probably set if you use am installer which I do not have. I only have the file I copied there.
I found out that typing this in Terminal...
    export JAVA_HOME=/Library/Java/1.7.jre/Contents/Home
...temporarily sets that version to the one being used, but it is only for that Terminal session, and it still does not show in Java Preferences.
I need to know how to get it into Java Preferences. It might be some command I don't know.

  • How to determine the Java version in Windows XP

In Windows 2000, I can determine the version of Java that's running by typing 'java -version' in a command prompt. However, when I type this in a command prompt in Windows XP, a message says 'java is not recognized as an internal or external command ...'.
Is there some other means of determining the version of Java that's running on Windows XP?
    Thank you.

I found the directory with java.exe on my XP client. After updating my Path and then typing 'java -versions' I still see a 'java not found message'. No problem though - a README.TXT says that I have JRE 1.1.7B.
One final question - a co-worker who also has XP just starting seeing a pop-up window saying 'Runtime' error when running a Java applet. His java.exe is in a path that includes the sub-directory 'JRE' On my XP client, java.exe is in a path which includes a 'JRE11' sub-directory. We therefore seem to have different versions of the JRE. Since I don't see the Runtime error when running the same applet, should my co-worker try upgrading his JRE?
    Thank you.

  • How do I change JAVA versions?

    Hi All,
Since upgrading to Lion, I cannot use a program to look at x-rays on Safari. I called the IT help desk, and they said that I needed to change the JAVA version to 4.1.10 but could not tell me how. Can someone please help me on this? Thank you so much!

I'm not sure. That's out of my expertise.  You'd have to make sure that the Java version you need will work well with this version Lion. But if it did work, it might be as simple as dragging a file from one Mac to the other or it could be that you need a Terminal command to do it.
In general, I'd go out on a limb and say it may not be a good idea with something like Java.

SL comes with Java SE 6 (32 and 64 bit). Is there a way to install previous version of Java? I am looking for J2SE 1.4.2.
    Any idea?
    Thanks

It's not supported by Apple, but here's what was posted on another site. The user name is the same as yours, but since you're asking I'm presuming that it wasn't you. Note that I'm quoting; I haven't tried it myself; as with any such hack, unexpected consequences may arise:
xsi wrote:I was able to get Java 1.4.2 working with Safari in Snow Leopard >tonight. Here's how to do it.
    1. Install Java 1.4.2 as outlined in this link:
    http://wiki.oneswarm.org/index.php/OSX_10.6_SnowLeopard
Alternatively, extract Java 1.4.2 from the Java For Mac OS X 10.5 Update 4 installation package, and install it in a similar manner:
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/Javafor_Mac_OS_X_10_5_Update4
    2. Make sure that Java 1.4.2 is the first 32-bit application in the list. Under Java Preferences, my list reads:
    Java SE 6 64-bit
    J2SE 1.4.2 32-bit
    Java SE 6 32-bit
    3. Open Safari in 32-bit mode via the Get Info window for Safari. This is where I was getting screwed up. It finally occurred to me that Java 1.4.2 is a 32-bit application, but if Safari was opening in 64-bit mode, it wouldn't use the 32-bit Java apps.
Once I opened Safari in 32-bit mode, Safari was able to use Java 1.4.2.
    Hope that helps.

  • How to tell what java version classes where compiled?

Is it possible to get the version of the Java SDK the classes were compiled with from within a Java application? I think about something like:
    System.out.println("Application classes compiled/compatible with "+getClassCompilationVersion());

For the minimum check, the point is that i get the following exception when i try to run a application that was compiled with/for 1.4 is tried to be started with a 1.3 JRE:

But it seems, that the new classes can't be used ... even though the main() method doesn't use any 1.4 specific API. The JVM rejects the classes just because of the newer class file format versions.

  • How to use a java version on a CD application?

i need to specify the location of a version of java on a cd, meaning that i want the java applet on the cd to use the version of java that i will supply on the cd, regardless of what is on the machine itself. can i do this? and how?
    thanks

So you'd like to have people run your applets without having to install a JRE? I don't think that's possible. (That is: everything except for a paradox is possible, but it won't be worth the while.) I think your best shot will be to provide an URL to the sun site (where the latest JRE/plugin can be found).
    Kind regards,

  • Can I get the Java version of mobile tv with the r...

I would like to know how to get the Java version of mobile tv with the removed mobile tv application, so I can view the Sky EPG programme guide on my E90.
Can anyone tell me how I can get it please. The version from sky will not work but reading other posts on here suggests that the java version might.
    Please help.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Sky have made it near impossible to get this application on current phones.
Luckily for you the java version is available for download as part of this useful guide.
The instructions are for the N95 but should work on an E90. I've got it working on an N82 and N96 at the moment.
Just a note about the java app: It says it's for a sony but it works perfectly on a nokia. Not sure how it will look on the E90's big screen so if it doesn't work try the front screen.

  • Different Java versions on IE6

    Hello,
We have a Windows server 2000 with Internet Explorer 6 SP1, and different aplications that need a specific version of JRE, exactly 1.4, 1.5 and 1.6.
The problem is we do not know if it will work on the same server, or how to change the java version to use it with each application.
I had thought to make different shortcuts to the IE, and somehow indicate at the launch which version to use, but I think it is not possible.
I had investigate the navigator and there is no option to change the java version or something.
    What can I do?
    Thank you.

The culprit is definitely the Java JRE as stated above, Oracle 11.5 I believe is designed to run with 1.5.0_16 or at least that what has been forced on our installation.
From what I can tell, the export call when run with an invalid JRE does not fire properly and Oracle gets an unknown response so therefore defaults you back to the login screen.
We had this issue and removed all versions of java (1.6.0_16 was the culprit in our case) and every returned to normal.
You will also need to make sure you have "Automatically prompt for file download" and "File download" enabled in IE (assuming you use IE) for the zone in which your Oracle install resides or you will see popup-blocker symptoms as well.
    Hope this helps.
