How to expose event handlers of the TextBox in a NumericUpDown?

The NumericUpDown control contains a TextBox object that I have exposed by creating a class that inherits from NUD and references the TextBox as the second control in the Base class, like this:
Public Class clsNumericUpDownExt
Inherits NumericUpDown
Private TheTextBox As TextBox = MyBase.Controls(1)
Event NewLeave()
Public ReadOnly Property TextBox As TextBox
Get
Return TheTextBox
End Get
End Property
End Class
In the form, I instantiate an object from this class and display it in a tab control on the form, like this:
Public WithEvents dynNudTime As clsNumericUpDownExt = New clsNumericUpDownExt
'In the form's Load event:
Dim loc As System.Drawing.Point = New System.Drawing.Point(177, 19)
Dim fnt As System.Drawing.Font = New System.Drawing.Font("Microsoft Sans Serif", 30)
tabTimer.Controls.Add(dynNudTime)
With dynNudTime
.Width = 240
.Location = loc
.Font = fnt
.Maximum = 86399
.Visible = True
End With
Since it was declared WithEvents, I can see the event handlers of the NUD base class of the object in the form, so I can code an action for, let's say, the ValueChanged event. Is there a way to see the event handlers of the TextBox, so that I can code an
action for, say, the TextChanged event?
Thanks!

 Well, you could add a public event to the NUD class and raise the event when the text of the textbox is changed.  You would need to do this for each event you want to handle from the textbox.
 In this example i added a custom event that will pass the NUD control as the sender and the Text as the 2nd argument.
Public Class Form1
Private WithEvents nud As New clsNumericUpDownExt
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
Me.Controls.Add(nud)
End Sub
Private Sub nud_TBoxTextChanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal TheText As String) Handles nud.TBoxTextChanged
Me.Text = TheText
End Sub
End Class
Public Class clsNumericUpDownExt
Inherits NumericUpDown
Public Event TBoxTextChanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal TheText As String)
Private WithEvents TheTextBox As TextBox = CType(MyBase.Controls(1), Windows.Forms.TextBox)
Private Sub TheTextBox_TextChanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles TheTextBox.TextChanged
RaiseEvent TBoxTextChanged(Me, TheTextBox.Text)
End Sub
End Class
If you say it can`t be done then i`ll try it

  • How to remove event handlers for a content type currently in use?

    Hi,
    We had a SP 2007 solution that managed event handlers as described in
    Brian Wilson's blog regarding event handlers. We then did a in-place upgrade to SP 2010. It so happend that we wanted to remove some of our old event handlers and this is where our problem started. We managed to delete event handlers
    (SPEventReceiverDefinitions) for
    Site and List by using the ui from Brian Wilsons feature "Manage Event Handlers" (ref the link above), but not anyone at all for
    Content Types... It simply wouldn't be deleted
    (remove was grayed out in the ui).
    We then tried to do it by code. Below is a code snippet illustrating how we tried to delete the event handlers for content types:
    using (SPWeb web = properties.Feature.Parent as SPWeb)
    string targetClassName = "targetClassName.";
    web.AllowUnsafeUpdates = true;
    // Removing Content Type event handlers
    foreach (SPContentType ct in web.ContentTypes)
    for (int i = ct.EventReceivers.Count - 1; i >= 0; i--)
    if (ct.EventReceivers[i].Class.StartsWith(targetClassName))
    ct.EventReceivers[i].Delete();
    ct.Update(true);
    web.Update();
    The Content Types are not sealed and are
    not readonly. When debugging, we can see that the
    Delete() method are called on one of the Content Types we wanted to delete event handlers for. We noted that the
    ct.EventReceivers.Count remains the same, before and after Delete() is called. We did not get any exceptions when running this code.
    When running the code a second time and debugging again, we see that the very same Content Type still has the very same event handler attached... As in, it wasn't deleted....
    We also tried to delete the event handlers through PowerShell as described
    here in the post by Per Jakobsen. However, the script did not really seem to find any EventReceivers... We tried to write the
    $site.AllWebs | % {$_.Lists} | % {$_.ContentTypes} | % {$_.EventReceivers} list to file, but it was empty.. We did however get a long list when writing $site.AllWebs | % {$_.Lists} | % {$_.ContentTypes} to file. We could then in
    that file see the event handler references we want to remove registered to our Content Types, as we did during code debugging earlier on. So PowerShell might still be the way to go here...
    So, does anyone know if there is a way to force this delete through, either by code, PowerShell or some other means? Any help regarding this matter would be very much appreciated :)

    Hi,
    For your information, there's two versions (at least) exists for each content types. One is Site Content Type - exists in Root web and another is list content type. Once you add a content type to a list, a copy of the site content type is taken and stored
    in the list. If you update the site content type, it may or may not affect the list conten type. So make sure you are updating the both - site content and list content type. Once you update site content type with passing paramater true to 'ct.Update(true)',
    the list content types are supposed to updated too.

  • How to get event 'out of the class'

    I have been reading myself silly about this, I either don't get it or it is very difficult.
    What I want to do:
    1) setup
    2) show panel
    3) handle input in panel
    4) once valid
    5) "get out"
    6) display other panel.
    I can go all the way to 4.
    But I can't get "out" of the panel.
    All I can guess/understand is that I have to trigger an event that will be handled below/outside this panel.
    Has anybody some idea how to do this? Maybe a link to some example code?
    There is tons to read about event handling but the (only) part I understand is about events within classes just as all the examples are (One panel two buttons, two pictures etc)
    I guess the only option I might envision is dividing by zero and catching the error outside the panel.
    That would be bazooking a mosquito, but it also shows what I try to implement.
    I'd be so happy to understand this part of the 'java system' ...
    (please understand that I don't want 'cardlayout', I want to understand what I need to do)
    Much thanks for any help!

    Thank you for your suggestion.
    My problem is that I am (feel?) stuck within the panel.
    So to put it differently, I cannot build a child panel with a button (in the child) that will have the parent pane change color. This as my 'code focus' is within the child panel and I cannot 'activate' code outside it.
    I am totally confused now as to how java works.
    So I cannot write a parent pane with a child pane where the child tests for a name and if the name is correct the child will be removed and some code will put in another child pane with fi a picture.
    This seems so utterly basic to any programmers needs, but I cannot find one example - or I have gone blind looking for it. In my code if I want to read the input field I have to handle it within the child pane, if I want to change child panels I need to do that in the parents panel code. But I can't change the code focus. So the child needs to generate an event that the parents can act upon, but there are no examples while I actually expect tons of examples. So maybe I don't speak 'Java'.
    This meaning that I cannot write a stack of panes and remove them one by one using fi the escape key.
    I am just left clueless by Java.

  • How to Expose byte[] Field in the Bindings

    I'm using JDeveloper 10.1.3.2 and using JPA...I have a table that contains many columns and one of these columns is an array of bytes:
    @Lob @Basic(fetch=FetchType.LAZY)
    @Column(name="SYS_CERTIFICATE")
    private byte[] certificate;
    Is there a way to expose this field in the pageDef for my jspx page? I don't need this field to actually exist on my page, but after an action has occurred I want to programmically populate this field in the bindings.
    In the data controls, its listed as a accessor attribute but it has no attributes so if I try to add it as an accessor attribute there are no attributes to select. I can't change the certificate element to be an attribute (instead of a accessor attribute) because the type has to be byte[] and cannot be byte since I need to store an array of bytes. Any ideas?

    Hi,
    I created a POJO model to simulate this
    package oracle.pojo.entities;
    public class TestEntity {
        private byte[] cert;
        private String name;
        public TestEntity() {
        public void setCert(byte[] cert) {
            this.cert = cert;
        public byte[] getCert() {
            return cert;
        public void setName(String name) {
            this.name = name;
        public String getName() {
            return name;
    package oracle.pojo.entities;
    public class TestEntityWrapper extends TestEntity {
        private String certificate;
        public TestEntityWrapper() {
        public void setCertificate(String certificate) {
            super.setCert(certificate.getBytes());
        public String getCertificate() {
            return new String(super.getCert());
    }As you see, I used a wrapper class that translates the byte to string and string to byte. I am wondering if there is something similar you can do in your JPA entity

    JournalFrame journal = new JournalFrame();

    }

    Bet you're trying "java JournalFrame" when you need to "java JournalApp".
    Couple pointers toward good code.
    1) Use white space (extra returns) to separate your code into logical "paragraphs" of thought.
    2) Add comments. At a minimum a comment at the beginning should name the file, state its purpose, identify the programmer and date written. A comment at the end should state that you've reached the end. In the middle, any non-obvious code should be commented and closing braces or parens should have a comment stating what they close (if there is non-trivial separation from where they open).
    Here's a sample:
    // JournalFrame.java - this does ???
    // saisoft, 4/18/03
    // constructor
      private void jbInit() throws Exception {
        this.getContentPane().setLayout(borderLayout1);
        radioPanel.setLayout(gridLayout1);
        statusPanel.setLayout(flowLayout1);
        textAreaPanel.setLayout(gridLayout2);
        buttonPanel.setLayout(gridLayout3);
        personalButton.setSelected(true);
        personalButton.setText("Personal");
        personalButton.addActionListener(new JournalFrame_personalButton_actionAdapter(this));
        businessButton.setText("Business");
        status.setText("");
        entryArea.setText("");
        entryArea.setColumns(10);
        entryArea.setLineWrap(true);
        entryArea.setRows(30);
        entryArea.setWrapStyleWord(true);
    } // end constructor
    // end JournalFrame.java3) What would you expect to gain from that inner class? It might be more cool, but would it be more clear? I give the latter (clarity) a lot of importance.

  • How to stop Event Handlers themselves throwing events in ssis

    Hi,
    We have SSIS package, where custom logging is enabled by making some entries to a table and in "Event Handler" Section. This logging is
    at the package level(i.e., not at the task level)
    Below points describe in brief about the event handling being handled in the package
    OnPrexecute: Make an entry to the logging  table with packagelogid, sourcename, sourceid and startdatetime
    NOTE: PackagelogID is an auto-generated number for each execution of the package
    OnPostExecute: Update the enddatetime, to the record
    entry made above(i.e, OnPreExecute), for specific packagelogid, sourceid(PackageLogID and SourceID are passed as a parameters to have this update).
    What I have observed is that, after the execution of a particular task in Control Flow, there will be 2 entries in the Logging table,
    One entry for the control flow task
    And another entry specific to OnPreExecute eventhandler
    itself:
    i.e, For each execution of a control flow task, below entries are made to logging table
     One for the main task in control flow
    Another for OnPreExecute task itself.
    OnPostExecute also runs after the completion of OnPreExecute to update the enddatetime for this OnPreExecute Task entry in the logging table
    Now, I want to avoide last 2 execution. I don't want an entry in the Logging table for the execution of Event Handler itself.
    Is it possible to avoide that
    Please let me know if the above issue explained is confusing or if you need any further information.
    Raksha

    Hi Raksha,
    You mixed in several unrelated things. 1st seems you have a problem with locking and I do not see how the Event handler is related.
    Can you simplify your question?
    Obviously, running inserts / updates in parallel with WITH(ROWLOCK) makes little sense. Why?
    Perhaps you need not to run in parallel, this is it. EventHandlers can be disabled at the package level, task or even container

    Now come to se38 initial screen and enter the program name.
    Now go to the menu Utilities-->Find in source code
    One popup will come give the search value as OPEN_FI and search.

  • Event Handlers for the Textfield

    How can I capture the 'value changed' event of a text field, without using IB.

    you can do addTarget:action:forControlEvents on UITextField, e.g.:
    [myTextField addTarget:(id)self action:@selector(textFieldChanged) forControlEvents:UIControlEventEditingChanged]
    then implement the textFieldChanged function, e.g.:
    - (void)textFieldChanged{

  • Do I need to worry about these event handlers in a grid from a memory leak perspective?

    I'm pretty new to Flex and coudn't figure out how to add event handlers to inline item renderer components from the containing file script so I attached the listnerers simply as part of the components themselves (eg <mx:Checkbox ... chnage="outerDocument.doSomething(event)"../>):
    <mx:DataGrid id="targetsGrid" width="100%" height="100%" doubleClickEnabled="true" styleName="itemCell"
          headerStyleName="headerRow" dataProvider="{targets}"
          rowHeight="19" fontSize="11" paddingBottom="0" paddingTop="1">
         <mx:columns>
         <mx:DataGridColumn width="78" dataField="@isSelected" headerText="">
         <mx:itemRenderer>
              <mx:Component>
                   <mx:HBox width="100%" height="100%" horizontalAlign="center">
                        <mx:CheckBox id="targetCheckBox" selected="{data.@isSelected == 'true'}"
                             change="outerDocument.checkChangeHandler(event);"/>
                        <mx:Image horizontalAlign="center" toolTip="Delete" source="@Embed('/assets/icons/delete.png')" useHandCursor="true" buttonMode="true"
                             click="outerDocument.deleteHandler(event);"/>
                        <mx:Image id="editButton" horizontalAlign="center" toolTip="Edit" source="@Embed('/assets/icons/edit-icon.png')" useHandCursor="true" buttonMode="true"
                             click="outerDocument.editHandler(event);"/>
                   </mx:HBox>
              </mx:Component>
         </mx:itemRenderer>
         </mx:DataGridColumn>
              <mx:DataGridColumn id="Name" dataField="@collectionDesc" headerText="Name" itemRenderer="com.foobar.integrated.media.ui.component.CellStyleForTargetName"/>
              <mx:DataGridColumn id="Created" width="140" dataField="@createDateTime" headerText="Created"  labelFunction="UiHelper.gridDateFormat" />
         </mx:columns>
    </mx:DataGrid>
    This grid is part of a view that will get destroyed and recreated potentially many times during a user's session within the application (there's a large dynamic nature to the app and views are created at run-time.) By destroyed I mean that the view that holds the above datagrid will no longer be referenced under certain circumstances and an entire new view object is created (meaning the old datagrid is no longer refernced and a new one is created.)
    I heard you should clean up event handlers when they are no longer used, and I know at what point the view is destroyed, but I don't know how to clean up the event handlers added to the item renderer components? Is it something that the Flex garbage collector will handle efficiently?
    Also, on a somewhat related note, how could I push the item renderer to an external component since in my event handlers for the item renderer buttons I need a reference to the datagrid.selectedIndex which, as an external item renderer I wouldn't have access to this containing grid?

    No. You don't need explicit cleanup in this case: if your outerDocument is going away, you have nothing to worry about. The event handler leak can happen in sort of the reverse situation: suppose you have a long-lived MyView that contains a custom DataGrid like the one below. Now suppose that MyView frequently destroys and re-creates the grid. And suppose that on its creationComplete event, the grid registers a listener for outerDocument's (MyView's) enterFrame Event. Unless you explicitly remove this listener, MyView will still have a reference to it even after the grid that registered the listener is destroyed (and garbage collected).
    This is a pretty contrived example, but it sort of illustrates the potential for leaks: a certain component is elligible for garbage collection, but some longer-lived component holds a reference to it (or part of it, such as a listener function). If the longer-lived component is elligible for GC as well, you don't really need to worry about proper cleanup. That's what you're paying the GC processor cycles for.

    Hi Mahesh,
    you can create event handlers under the actions tab in you view. evry event handler has an importing parameter wdevent of type ref to cl_wd_custom_event.
    you can also create events in your component controller and they can be handled within your views

  • Document Event Handlers

    How do I access the Page/Open and Doc/Open event handlers using the Javascript debugger ?
    Currently, I can see only a few related to the Closing and Saving of the document...Document Will Save, Document Will Close, etc.
    There is no "Add" button in the Document Actions dialog box that appears when one clicks on Other Tasks when editing a form-based document.
    Also, I noticed there is a Javascript function "SetPageAction" which can be used for the Open event handler, but apparently this must be established via script...
    no GUI counterpart appears to be available.

    There isn't an explicit document open event. Code that you place in a document-level JavaScript will execute when the document is opened.
    To get to the Page Open/Close events, open the Pages navigation pane, select the page you want, right-click > Page Properties > Actions

    Hi,
    the back button is always part of toolbar buttons.
    So you can open the view controller class and open the GET_TOOLBAR_BUTTONS method from that class.
    In this method you see how the BACK button is defined. One of the attribute of button structure is ON_CLICK.
    The value of this attribute should be the event name that is triggered when the button is clicked.
    Now open the DO_HANDLE_EVENT method from the view controller class, you will have methods with prefix EH_ON
    after the prefix you see the event name. If you find one that mached to the event name of the BACK button, then this is the event handler that is triggered by the BACK button.

  • Some Doubts about Event Handlers

    Hi,
    I had some doubts on Event handlers in OIM 11.1.1.5 ........
    1) I want to use the same event handler for both Post Insert and Post update task.... Can I use the same event handler for that... If yes then how can I do that....
    2) Can I create the single Plugin.xml class and add the all jar files in single say lib folder and zip them all together.. if yes then What changes I need to do?? Need to add only the plugin tags for different class files in plugin.xml file? OR need to do some thing extra also...?
    3) If i need to change any thing in any class of event handler.. Is there need to unregister the plugin and again register...??
    If yes.... Is there need to delete the event handler using the weblogicDeleteMetadata command???
    4) As we Import the event handler from path like event handler/db/... If we add all the evetn handler.xml files in that folder..... As During Import weblogicImportMetadata recursively call all the files in that folder.... Now if i need to change anything in any one of event handler class... then if we import from the same folder event handler/db/... What will it do............Create the duplicate copy of all the eventhandlers????? OR i need to add only those Eventhandler.xml files for those class files i made the changes.....
    5) As I need to create email on user creation during recon and also email id get updated as first name or last name updates..... What I had to use in Event handler.xml (entity-type="User" operation="CREATE") or Some thing else....
    Help me clarify my doubts...

Just have two event handlers in the same MDS file and the operation should be CREATE for one while MODIFY for another. The class and version and name remains the same.
    2) Can I create the single Plugin.xml class and add the all jar files in single say lib folder and zip them all together.. if yes then What changes I need to do?? Need to add only the plugin tags for different class files in plugin.xml file? OR need to do some thing extra also...?Yes, in the single plugin xml you can define multiple eventhandlers and the jar will contain multiple event handlers class.
    3) If i need to change any thing in any class of event handler.. Is there need to unregister the plugin and again register...??
    If yes.... Is there need to delete the event handler using the weblogicDeleteMetadata command???No, if you are just changing the class, then you need to update the class only in the plugin. For this, first delete plugin and then update plugin and then purgecache.
    4) As we Import the event handler from path like event handler/db/... If we add all the evetn handler.xml files in that folder..... As During Import weblogicImportMetadata recursively call all the files in that folder.... What will it do............Create the duplicate copy of all the eventhandlers????? OR i need to add only those Eventhandler.xml files for those class files i made the changes.....If won't create duplicate copies but would overwrite the ones which are there in MDS at the same location. So effectively, if the xml is not changing you should not be worried about overwritting.
    5) As I need to create email on user creation during recon and also email id get updated as first name or last name updates..... What I had to use in Event handler.xml (entity-type="User" operation="CREATE") or Some thing else....For recon and event handler, you will need to have post process event handler on User CREATE and UPDATE. On Create construct the email address and populate it in the email field. For update check if the firstname/lastname are changing and if yes, then update the email id on the profile.
