How to extend/ replace generated classes from JAXB

Hello Experts,
In our application (Which uses Java Webdynpro as the UI and RFC’s for the backend access- an R/3 System), there is a need to construct an XML file (from the data entered by the user) which will be later accepted by the backend system. Now to avoid manual creation of the XML document, what we did is that we created an XSD file based on the back end structure (This XSD contains definition for all the possible fields and structures in the back end).
Then we used the JAXB implementation to automatically create Java Objects from the XSD file. We populate this JAXB generated Java objects and then use the Serialization framework to serialize them into an XML file.
This all works well, provided that the structure of the back end system does not change, but unfortunately it can, customer can add additional attributes to the existing structures (They do not create new structures, just add new attributes to it so I do not need to create new Java Object classes at runtime, I need only to add attributes to them). If they do so, the XSD and corresponding Java Objects (which are shipped as part of the source code) do not remain valid anymore as the automatically generated Objects (which correspond to the structures in the back end) would not have the definition of the newly added attributes.
Can anyone please suggest how to overcome this limitation with JAXB.
The needed functionality is that somehow I should be able to add fields (corresponding to the customer added attributes) to the automatically created Java objects and thus pass the data in the additional attribute to the backend. (Please note that at runtime using an RFC, I can find out the current structure of the backend but the structure at the Webdynpro end (set of Java objects generated from the JAXB) is static and is a part of the code).
Any comments/suggestions could be of great help.
Thanks
Amit Kapoor

You cannot do that. TheJAVA language does not allow a class to "extend" more than one upper class.
Typically, the solution is to modify your architecture a little bit. Just use the "has a" relationship instead of "is a". That means something like that:public class MyFraisMessage
    extends MyOtherClass
    private FraisMessage message;
  etc...You write an extension "MyFraisMessage" of your upper class "MyOtherClass", which has the JAXB generated object as an attribute. This structure is often useful, when you think you would need multiple inheritance.

  • Problems generating classes with JAXB

    Does anyone know where there might be a list of known problems with generating classes from an xsd with JAXB? I have a very deep and pretty complicated xsd, and it seems some elements get generated correctly and some don't. It's very hard to find any pattern of why. Is there a limit to the number of levels deep it will go?

  • How to call a Java class from another java class ??

    Hi ..... can somebody plz tell me
    How to call a Java Class from another Java Class assuming both in the same Package??
    I want to call the entire Java Class  (not any specific method only........I want all the functionalities of that class)
    Please provide me some slotuions!!
    Waiting for some fast replies!!
    Regards
    Smita Mohanty

    Hi Smita,
    you just need to create an object of that class,thats it. Then you will be able to execute each and every method.
    e.g.
    you have developed A.java and B.java, both are in same package.
    in implementaion of B.java
    class B
                A obj = new A();
                 //to access A's methods
                 A.method();
                // to access A's variable
                //either
               A.variable= value.
               //or
               A.setvariable() or A.getvariable()

    If you have lost it then you might find a single replacement you can purchase at a AAA travel store. You could call your local Apple Store to ask, but Apple does not sell the adapters separately.

    Alchemista,
    Not sure if you were able to solve your problem..but I was trying to do exactly what you were trying to do.. access a datasource from a simple Java client. However, you cannot do so by simply writing the Java class and running it. The simple Java client has to be deployed as a J2EE Application Client. The following tutorial shows how to create a J2EE Application Client using the non-J2EE Java class you have written.
    http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/J2EE/appclient
    The article talks about accessing EJBs from a J2EE App. Client.. but since you only want to access the DataSource, just skip all the screens until it asks you to register the JNDI DataSource resources...
    Let me know if you have any questions. You can email me at [email protected]
    I hope this helps.

  • How to extend an AS3 class in an MXML Component

    Hello,
    I have a few MXML Components based on the Spark Group.
    They all use MXML for layouta and AS3 for logic.
    They all have the same logic and I would like all to extend an AS3 class to have the same methods and properties isteand of declaring the same exact ones for each MXML Component.
    How can this be done please?

    Hm, no, I'm not explaing this properly.
    I have an MXML component based on the Spark Group.
    It has a few form elements.
    There are many such components.
    I want all to have two public methods: getData() and setData() which get and set data from and to the input elements.
    I don't want to write the exact same method for all of them.
    I would like to at least interface the MXML components with an AS3 class forcing them to have those 2 methods.

    hi experts,
    We have written start routine to get the storage location text and sending to File located at Application server through OPEN HUB.
    here is the code written in the Transformations
    In the global section
    Text for 0STOR_LOC
        DATA: l_0stor_loc_text TYPE HASHED TABLE OF /bi0/tstor_loc
              WITH UNIQUE KEY stor_loc.
        DATA: l_0stor_loc_text_wa TYPE /bi0/tstor_loc.
    and in the code to get the text
    " Populate the lookup table for 0STOR_LOC
        *SELECT * from /BI0/TSTOR_LOC*
          into CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF table L_0STOR_LOC_TEXT
          FOR ALL ENTRIES IN SOURCE_PACKAGE WHERE
                  STOR_LOC = SOURCE_PACKAGE-STOR_LOC.
    im sure there is problem with the Routine only. i think i need to change the code if so please provide me the modified one.

  • How to run a java class from a shell script with passing arguments

    hi,
    I have a jar with all the required classes. I was using ant to run the classes i needed.
    But now i want to use a shell script to run the class, also the class accepts some arguments so when script is run it should accept arguments.
    So can any one tell me how to set class paths, jar location and call the required class from shell script or batch file with passing arguments to it.
    Thanks in advance.

    Let's say that the order of arguments is as below
    1. Jar file name
    2. Classpath
    Your shell script would look like this
    java -cp $CLASSPATH:$2 -jar $1 I am assuming that your jar file has the required main-class entry in its manifest. Note that $1...$9 represent the arguments to this shell script.
    The same goes for a batch file
    java -cp %CLASSPATH%;%2 -jar %1

  • How to access a Java class from view controller?

    Hi All,
    I have created a Test.java class file from Navigator view under
    Src --> Packages --> com.sap.MyProject.
    When I try to access the Test class from view controller,
    I getting this error "Test cannot be resolved or is not a type".
    How do I fix this?
    Thanks
    Sundar

    Hi,
    I have created a Test.java class file from Navigator view under
    Src --> Packages --> com.sap.MyProject.
    After this you can goto the context of your View and define the VA goto the type of VA and click on the right side button and go to java native type and type your java file name click you name .
    that means the jave file s assigned to VA.
    U can utilize thrut that VA.
    Thanks,
    Lohi.

  • How does EF Distinguish Regular Classes from Entity Classes?

    I'm newbie to EF, just read a couple of short articles on it the other day.  When reading them I didn't pick up on what criteria EF has for distinguishing regular classes from EF classes. Suppose for instance I wrote up a class for internal use only
    (but which happened to have the same name as one of my Sql Server tables).  Aside from reading my mind, how would EF know that I never intended this class for entity purposes?

    What are you talking about here? It's back to the namespaces.
    If you are making folders in a VS project, then that's a namespace. You crate a class in that namespace, then it should be decelerated with a namespace attribute specifying what namespace the class is in, and you woud have to use an Imports in VB or a Using
    statement in C# pointing to the namesapce where the class is located in the class that needs to use a class in another namespace. Or you don't use Import or Using and you give the full namespace path to the class in code of namespace.classname.The below DB
    first, only a part of the code in  namespace, the usage was installed into the DAL.Model namespace where I have a project called DAL and within the DAL  project I made a folder, a namespace,  named Model and pointed EF to that folder in doing
    an add of a new Item in VS. And everything about EF is in the DAL.MODEL namespace. You can have Jal2 class in the namespace and Jal2 in some other namespace. Ef could care less about Jal2 in the other not DAL.Model namespace.
    I don't care how you do it. I don't care if you are using EF DB first, Model first, Code first,  any other kind of first or you start making your own classes for data yourself, but you need to understand Namespaces in .NET, what they are for,and how
    to use them effectively in creating  .NET solutions.
    Comon man, this is .NET 101 you should have figured out long ago.

    I think the OP wants to use a class file as a COM object. I've never done that, but this URL:
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;q167941&
    seems to indicate that you should have placed the class file into the c:\winnt\Java\TrustLib\ sub directory before you ran the JAvaReg bat file - I would re-run JavaReg and bounce IIS and associated services and see if that works out.
    Good Luck
