How to fetch previous record from internal table?

Hi,
My final internal table (it_final) has all the data month wise year wise.(opening and closing qty)
but if
Material   Batch    Month   Year        opening_qty         closing_qty
FC5431   abc        08        2008        100                       50
FC5431   ABC       09        2009         0                          100
Suppose I want to take PREVIOUS record(closing_qty = 50 in my 09/2009 openin_qty = 50) how will Ido this?
Any solution????????? BTW i m using S033 for opening an closing qt monthwise.

Hi Gurus,
              I have a requirement where i have to fetch the last record value in the table.
I have a screen where the TEXT name is REQUEST and I/P field name is REQ and SAVE push button.
In this I/P field automatically 1 should display when i excecute the program and when i save this, the request number should turn to 2 that is dynamically..once agin save then 3 and so on....and this 1, 2, 3 will be storeing in table.
I have succeeded till generating the values dynamically and saving in the table like 1 is displayed and when i click save it is changeing to 2..but the problem is when i am coming out of program and logon again the request number is again displaying as 1 rather it has to start with 4 because already 3 request are there in the table.
My code is...
Table zsave.
data declarations....
data req type i.
req = 0.
req = zsave-req.
PROCESS BEFORE OUTPUT
req = 0.

Can you tell me, when updaing the ZSAVE table with the counter value are you modifying the exisiting value or inserting the value as new record?
From the code in your first post, i see that you are extracting records into internal table but when you are moving to variable REQ, you are moving from table work area which is blank, so everytime when you execute it may be starting as 0.

Using this code i can get only single plant...
If i want to get multiple plants from an internal table,how i can change this code?
Since it is a recording i cant put this code in LOOP..ENDLOOP.
Suggest any method for doing this....

just imagine the table to be BSEG or FAGLFLEXA... then what would be performance of the code ?
any ways,
jyotsna, first check if you have a pattern to follow like if the primary key field have a increasing number range or it would be great if you find a date field which stores the inserted date or some thing..
you can select max or that field or order by descending using select single.
or get all data.. sort in descending order.(again you need some criteria like date).
read the first entry. using read itab index 1

My internal table contains material in lakhs.After fetching the record from database table MARA,i process each material to find out its characteristics.As there are too much records it is taking time, resulting in time out error abap dump. If i want to process first 5000 material then remaining 5000 and so on...what logic should i apply?or can there be any alternative solution?

You can also check if the read statement has BInary Serach.
By Adding this it will improve performance.
Read statement will occupy lots of time to read the records.
Sort the Internal table with some key field and the use Binary Search for an internal table.
Ex :
SORT T_PRGEN by ATTR20A.
READ TABLE T_V_TCAV201 INTO WA_V_TCAV201 WITH KEY ATTRV20 = WA_PRGEN-ATTR20A BINARY SEARCH.
This should fix the issue.

To get recent timestamp records from internal table

hi all,
i have one requirment
i'm storing error messages in one table while creating a sales order basing on timestamp
which is of this format yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss (random Number)
if i want to see the error messages left i'm getting all the error messages displayed
for example i have created a sales order
i got 10 errors displayed
i have rectified 5 errors ... if i again display error messages the 10 errors + the 5 errors is getting displayed
i want to display the 5 error messages only not the previous messages from internal table
basing on timestamp current one has to displayed remaining has to deleted from internal table.

I thought we used Sales Order Incompletion process for this.... but, if you're recreating the errors list every time you save with a create or change transaction then, at save, delete all rows in your error table for this document. Then get your errors and update your db table from your current errors table. From this viewpoint, the timestamp is not relevant.

1) insert one by one record from internal table

2) insert total records at a time

or let me know if any other statement is there with high performance.

Insert the entire table at atime rather than a record so as to increase the performance.
you can use INSERT <dbtabname> CLIENT SPECIFIED FROM TABLE itab.
or
MODIFY ZPRODUCT FROM TABLE GI_AFPO.

Hi,
Deleting a record from a standard table can be done only if table maintenance exists - Cehck tcode - SM30. But it is not advisable to delete records, coz the records may be dependent on many other tables. If u delete in a single place, there may be chance that inconsistency in the data happens and hence will affect ur financial statements.

To delete duplicate records from internal table

hi friends,
i have to delete records from internal table based on following criterion.
total fields are 7.
out of which if 4 fields are same and 5th field is different,then both records must be deleted.
in case all five fields are same,the program should do nothing.
for example.
if there are 3 records as follows
a1 b1 c1 d1 e1 f g
a1 b1 c1 d1 e2 w r
a1 b1 c1 d1 e1 j l
then first two records should be deleted as four fields are same but fifth(e) field differs.
but third record should remain as it is evenif first five fields are same for first and third record.
values of last two fields need not to be consider for deleting the records.

First get the index number of the IT_data table and store it in one variable whose declaration like this.
data: tabix type sy-tabix.
while reading the internal table it_data set the tabix variable.
tabix = sy-tabix.
Instead of the above use below one.
Delete it_data-objek
Use the Below statement it will delete the row from the internal table.
Delete it_data-objek index tabix

Issue with fetching a record from IHPA table with PARNR value as condition

I am trying to fetch a particular record from IHPA table where i am giving the OBJNR number, PARVW and PARNR as customer no. , But I am not getting any record but if i will give OBJNR and PARVW it will generate a record with having same PARNR value.
Example :
case 1st :-
when i am passing following values in IHPA table,
OBJNR = IE000000000010070910
PRAVW = BP
PARNR = 620000562
it is not generating any record
case 2nd:-
But if i will pass
OBJNR = IE000000000010070910
PRAVW = BP
it will generate a record?(one row) which will include PARNR as same 620000562 along with other value.
Q1 - Why it's not generating in case 1st,
Q2 - How I will resolve this issue ? as i have to link some table as EQUI -

VCKUN
VCNUM ?
      I have written a code for this to join :
     SELECT A~EQUNR
       B~PARVW
       C~CCNUM
       D~CCNUM

      But it is not generating any record but when i am commenting the PARVW i am getting the mixed record of PARVW as (BP,SP,SH)

I have made a project that connects CEP to database table but i m getting some problem in fetching the data from database.
From the following code :
If the where condition is removed then the application runs fine but i am still not able to fetch the data from the table because it is not showing any output.
