How to find a regular expression in a statement

I have to find regex in a statement and return boolean true if it matches .
regexpression : AR%SUPERUSER
How to write in code?
I have tried this
String EXAMPLE_TEST = "This is my AR SUPERUSER string which I'm going to use for pattern matching.";
System.out.println(EXAMPLE_TEST.matches("AR SUPERUSER"));
It returned false

That works fine, but if you want to find the part of the String you have some options:
String EXAMPLE_TEST = "This is my small example string which I'm going to use for pattern
System.out.println(EXAMPLE_TEST.matches(".+small example.+"));
System.out.println(EXAMPLE_TEST.indexOf("small example") >= 0);
System.out.println(EXAMPLE_TEST.contains("small example"));{code}

  • How to write the regular expression for Square brackets?

    Hi,
    I want regular expression for the [] ‘Square brackets’.
    I have tried to insert in the below code but the expression not validate the [] square brackets.
    If anyone knows please help me how to write the regular expression for ‘[]’ Square brackets.
    private static final Pattern DESC_PATTERN = Pattern.compile("({1}[a-zA-Z])" +"([a-zA-Z0-9\\s.,_():}{/&#-]+)$");Thanks

    Since square brackets are meta characters in regex they need to be escaped when they need to be used as regular characters so prefix them with \\ (the escape character).

  • How can I remove all content between two tags using Find/Replace regular expressions?

    This one is driving me bonkers...  I'm relatively new to regular expressions, but I'm trying to get Dreamweaver to remove all content between two tags in an XML document.  For example, let's say I have the following XML:
    <custom>
    <![CDATA[<p>Some text</p>
    <p>Some more text</p>]]>
    </custom>
    I'd like to do a Find/Replace that produces:
    <custom>
    </custom>
    In essence, I'd like to strip all of the content between two tags.  Ideally, I'd like to know how to strip the CDATA content as well, to return the following:
    <custom>
    <![CDATA[]]>
    </custom>
    I'd much appreciate any suggestions on accomplishing this.
    Many thanks!

    Thanks much for your response.  I found David's article to be a little thin with respect to examples using quantifiers in coordination with the wildcard metacharacters; however, I was able to cobble together a working expression through trial and error using the information he presented.  For posterity, here’s the solution:
    Find:
    <custom>[\d\D]*?</custom>
    Replace:
    <custom>
    <![CDATA[]]>
    </custom>
    I believe this literally translates to:
    [] = find anything in this range/character class
    \d = find any digit character (i.e. any number)
    \D = find any non-digit character (i.e. anything except numbers)
    *? = match zero or more times, but as few times as possible (i.e. match multiple characters per instance, but only match one instance at a time, or none at all)
    I’m still not sure how to effectively utilize the . wildcard.  For example, the following expression will not find content that ends with a number:
    <custom>.*?[\D]*?</ custom >
    I'm presuming this is because numbers aren't included in the \D metacharacter; however, shouldn't numbers be picked up by the .*? expression?

  • How to make a regular expression case insensitive?

    Hi,
    I am using SAP UI5 .
    I am validating the user input using a regular expression to make sure user dose not enter a keyword which is reserved.
    var regexAppID = /^(?=^(?:(?!(^Admin$|^AdminData$|^Push$|^smp_cloud$|^resource$|^test-resources$|^resources$|^Scheduler$|^odata$|^applications$|^Connections$|^public|^Public$|[\.]{2,}|^[\.])).)*$)(?=^[a-zA-Z]+[a-zA-Z0-9_\.]*$).*$/;
    textField.mBindingInfos.value.type.oConstraints.search = regexAppID;
    The regex blocks the user from entering the keywords Admin,AdminData etc.
    It works fine if the user enters the value as it is given in regex (ie case sensitive example "Admin").
    But when user enters "admin" or "aDmin" etc the regex is not catching it and my server crashes as it bypasses these keywords.

    Can't you use this expression?
    ^/(?!ignoreme$)(?!ignoreme2$)[a-z0-9]+$
    Then you will have only a match when the word is something else then "ignoreme" or "ignorme2".
    Why don't you just check it in an IF statement? if(input==="ignoreme" or ... ) ? It's both static.. or you could put all options in an array and use the statement indexOf to find if it is in the array.

  • Plz Help me: how to find two different Expressions (Objects Strig)are equal

    Actaully I m having a problem i have the situation
    Suppose i have two String objects s1="Hotel in Paris" and s2="Paris in Hotel"
    means if we have to String then by considering the permutations on first String we have serch out that whether it is foud in second string or not: e.g
    String s1= "computer notebook sony";
    String s2=" sony computer notebook ";
    How to find that these two Objects or your can say "expressions" are equal in java ..................................................................................................Please Tell , if any one have any idea abt it
    many many Thanks in Advance

    This won't work with duplicate words, will it? well, maybe, since you are putting both strings in sets. But then, how would this handle capitalization? This is my ugly solution:
         public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception {
              String s1= "computer notebook sony";
              String s2=" sony Computer notebook ";
              s1 = s1.toLowerCase();
              s2 = s2.toLowerCase();
              String [] words1 = s1.split("\\b");
              for(String w : words1)
                   s2 = s2.replace(w,"");
              if(s2.trim().length() == 0)
                   System.out.println("The strings are equal");
              else
                   System.out.println("They are not equal.");

  • How to search with regular expression

    I make pdx files so that I can search text quickly. But Acrobat doesn't provide a way to search with regular expression. I'm wondering if there is a way that I don't know to search for regular expression in Acrobat Pro 9?

    First, Acrobat must "mount" the PDX.
    As "Find" does not use the cataloged index, use Shift+Ctrl+F to open the advanced search dialog.
    It may be helpful to first enter Acrobat Preferences and for the Search category tick "Always use advanced search options".
    Back to the Search dialog - use the drop down menu for "Look In" to pick "Select Index" then, if no PDXs show, click the Add button.
    In the Open Index File dialog, browse to the location of the desired PDX and select it.
    OK out and use "Return results containing" to pick a "Match ..." requirement or Boolean.
    To become familiar with query syntax, for Acrobat, it is good to review Acrobat Help.

  • How can I use regular expression to match this rule

    I have a String ,value is "<a>1</a><a>2</a><a>3</a>",and want to match other String like "<a>1</a><a>8</a>",if the one of the first string(like "<a>1</a>") will occur in the second string,then will return true.but I don't know how to write the regular expresstion.
    Thx

    Fine fine. :P
    I was a little bored, so here's some code that uses Strings and a StringBuffer (though you could use a String in place of the StringBuffer). Is this perhaps better? :)
              String testMain = "<a>1</a><ab>2</ab><ab>3</ab>";
              String test = "<ab>1</ab><ab>3</ab>";
              String open = "<ab>";
              String close = "</ab>";
              StringBuffer search = new StringBuffer();
              String checkString = null;
              int lastCheck = 0;
              int start = 0;
              int finish = 0;
              boolean done = false;
              while (!done) {
                   start = test.indexOf(open);
                   finish = test.indexOf(close);
                   if ((start == -1) || (finish == -1)) {
                        System.out.println("No more tags to search for.");
                        done = true;
                   else {
                        checkString = test.substring((start + open.length()), finish);
                        search = new StringBuffer();
                        search.append(open);
                        search.append(checkString);
                        search.append(close);
                        if (testMain.indexOf(search.toString()) != -1) {
                             System.out.println("Found value: " + checkString);
                        test = test.substring(finish + close.length());
    Resulting output:
    Found value: 3
    No more tags to search for.

  • How can I add Regular Expression verify?

    I need to write a Regular Expression for date whose format is 'yyyy-mm-dd'('2004-5-3' or '2004-05-03') and a Regular Expression for phone number whoes format is '12345678' or '1234567' or '13809441234'.
    Thanks for any help.

    The date format is a little tricky as there are many invalid combinations. You'd be better off calling TO_DATE with your user input and format mask. If an error is returned, the date is invalid.
    For the phone number assuming a valid phone number could be 7, 8, or 11 digits (it's a little difficult to tell what the format your suggest is) then you could apply something like the following:
    ^[0-9]{7}([0-9]|[0-9]{4})?$

  • Regular Expression.  Select Statement.  Carriage Return

    Oracle 9i
    Using SQLPLUS
    I've read about regular expression and need some translation/explanation.
    I have a large table containing a varchar2 (free text) column. Users may have inserted carriage returns when they entered the data. I need to locate rows that contain carriage returns, select and display them. Later I'll need to update those rows to replace the carriage returns with a space.
    Can you assist with syntax. I believe use of a regular expression is required.
    Thanks

    for single characters like <CR> TRANSLATE() Doh. Never post at the end of a long day.
    As the other posters have pointed out, one-for-one single character substitution is normally done with REPLACE(), although TRANSLATE() also works. The more normal role for TRANSLATE() is situations where you want to substitute multiple characters, e.g.
    SQL> update <your table> set <your column> = replace (<your column> , chr(13)||chr(10), ' ');This substitutes a space for a carriage return and line feed combination.

  • How to find redo generated per each SQL Statement?

    Database version is 10.2.0.4. OS is AIX.
    We have excessive redo generation during specific time of a day. We would like to identify which statement is contributing to this excessive redo.
    ADDM shows this as first finding
    Waits on event "log file sync" while performing COMMIT and ROLLBACK operations were consuming significant database time.
    Is it possible to find out which sql statement is generating how much redo in bytes during a specific time?
    Thank You

    user11181920 wrote:

    For example, you will see bunch of UPDATE,DELETE,INSERT statements issued by apps. So? What you going to do with them? If you can modify the app to eliminate unnecessary DMLs - it would be great of course. But it is unlikely.From what I've seen, namely developers putting way more commits in than the business rules would justify, it is not so unlikely.
    >
    Also when DML statements generate Redo, the do not cause too many waits of "log file sync", because buffer Log writer flushes buffer as soon as it fills more than 30% or after some time, or on Commit/Rollback. This may or may not be true, as there can be several reasons for log file sync: insufficient I/O (which is the only one you are addressing); CPU starvation (because the cpu ultimately controls i/o requests, and even fixing some unrelated sql that hogs the cpu could change this); lgwr priority (on some systems it makes sense to simply raise the priority, it can vary widely as to whether this makes sense); and other things like private redo, file option flags and the IMU relationships with undo that can be too complicated to put in a partial sentence.
    >
    Waits on event "log file sync" while performing COMMIT and ROLLBACK operations were consuming significant database time.So the root cause can be too many commits, which you should evaluate and fix if possible. You can also use Tanel Poder's snapper script, including on lgwr to see more closely what it is waiting on. See page 28: http://files.e2sn.com/slides/Tanel_Poder_log_file_sync.pdf
    >
    Right. It is because Log Writer writes here synchronously, reliably, it waits until HDD writes data down and responds its written OK.
    And HDDs are not the fastest things in computer. They are mechanical - that is why.
    I would recommend you :
    1. Place redo log files on fast HDDs that used preferably dedicated for this purpose only. If other I/O will frequently disturb these drives they will cause heads change tracks which causes longest HDD waits.
    2. Consider to use faster technology like SAN or SSD.Read this instant classic: http://www.pythian.com/news/28797/de-confusing-ssd-for-oracle-databases/
