How to find if item's value has changed without leaving the field

i am using timer in this one appilcation , where i am letting the user define the time in minutes like (30) ..Is there any way to know after they change the value of that item lets say to 40 so that i can execute some other statements.
i have tried post-change and post text item ...
thanks.

You could use a timer, and then in the When-timer-expires (WTE) trigger, try Validate(Item_Scope). Try that, and see if it will cause the when-validate-item trigger to run.
If that does not work, then in the WTE trigger, move the cursor out of the item. THAT will definitely cause the WVI to run if they have made a change. However, moving the cursor back into the field may cause problems with cursor position and also with the contents of the item selected (highlighted).

  • How to update model only if value has changed?

I would have expected that a model property is only updated if the value of the UIComponent has changed, but I am apparently wrong.
Why is the setter-Method of a model always called, even if the old and new value are the same (or better: equal)?
I have not found anything in the spec that defines the behaviour of an implementation in this regard.
thanks in advance for any comments

I think the value always gets set, why? Does it cause problems on your end?
Though, it will be better if they don't update it when they are the same values.

  • Is it possible to know if an item value has changed

    Hi,
I'm working on a form and need to know if an item value has changed without compare it with database_value of get_item_property. there is a button <save> on the form and i want to know when user click again and again on button save if this item value has changed. thanks for your ideas.

Tabit7 - Posted: Apr 9, 2011 12:15 AMbut sometimes in query mode, the item is not navigable and its vallue changed and the prev_value did not work, perhaps the w-n-i-i do not fire>
If you look up the trigger in the Forms Help system it will tell you if the trigger will fire in Query Mode. The WNII trigger will file in Query Mode where as the Pre-Text-Item trigger does not.
i try an other way and it seems to work, i put a flag in w-v-i when database_value is different from block value and use this flag in button Save, thanks a lot for your idea it put me in the way. Glad you were able to find a way to resolve your issue. ;-)

First, create a variable that is visible to the entire form. Many people would simply use a GLOBAL variable, but I do not like the limitations of GLOBALs and I don't like the fact that they are visible to the entire Forms sessions, not just my form. I prefer to use a Forms program unit (PU) Package Specification so I can explicitly define the variable data type (eliminates the need to cast the GLOBAL to the correct data type) and the variable only occupies the amount of memory needed to support the variable. Also, when I exit my form, the variable is automatically erased.
/* Sample Forms PU Package Specification */
    PACKAGE Form_vars IS
       g_prev_val   VARCHAR2(50);
END Form_vars;No that I've created a variable to store the Previous Value of an Item, I can write code to use it. I will use a Form Level When-New-Item-Instance (WNII) trigger to ensure I capture the value exiting value of the item before any changes.
    /* Sample WNII trigger */
    BEGIN
       Form_vars.g_prev_val := Name_in(:system.trigger_item);
END;This is a very simple example. There are many other ways to implement this method; such as using the Pre-Text and Post-Text-Item triggers as Abdetu suggested.

  • WARNING: ADFv: Could not find selected item matching value ...

Using Windows JDev 11.1; I have an entity object with an attribute which has a LOV configured to supply a select-one-choice render. The LOV query requires that a bind variable be supplied. When creating a new record in the entity via the VO, I can use the ViewImpl to create a new row, retrieve the RowSet which corresponds to the attribute LOV query, set the named where clause parameter, and I'm away. When updating however, I'm getting the following error reported:
    09/12/2009 2:44:04 PM oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.model.binding.FacesCtrlListBinding getInputValue
WARNING: ADFv: Could not find selected item matching value EMPLOYER of type: java.lang.String in the list-of-values.
I can't supply the bind variable value before the row is instantiated (and presumably populated with the current value/key) because the View Accessor RowSet is only accessible via the RowImpl. If after the query has executed, I apply the bind variable value, re-execute the RowSet query, I can see that it's populated, and I can create a RowSetIterator to loop through the LOV RowSet and confirm that the key/value is there. I can even setCurrentRow on the RowSet but I still find that the above error appears in the serve log output seemingly after all this code executes.
So my question is what is the technique for supplying bind variables to attribute LOV View Accessors as part of an underlying EO object query.
In the run-time, the list items appear unpopulated (current value and list items). If I reload the page, it all comes up fine, which could tend to suggest that a PPR event might fix me up, but I would prefer to know how this should be done.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Is your issue resolved. I'm facing similar issue. I have created a viewaAccessors in EO, associated these to ViewObject attributes as List of Values.
I created the table in UI using the ViewObject.
I see those as selectOneChoice but not values (Empty list).
If I create new record in the table by CreateInsert. table now shows the ListOfvalues.
any Idea what am I missing.
    Thanks,

  • Could not find selected item matching value "New" warning message in ADF

    Hi,
I have a selectOneChoice1 for a field which has the following fixed values in it. And while creating it, I selected the 'SelctionRequired' option so that this field will always have a value.
    New
    Pending
    Completed.
While navigating to this page, I am trying to set the value to 'New' (Retrieved from the DB) in the backing bean. But when the page is rendered, the above field is empty with the above options in the list and jdev has the follwing error message in its log.
WARNING: Could not find selected item matching value "New" in CoreSelectOneChoice[UIXEditableFacesBeanImpl, id=selectOneChoice1]
Can any one help me with this issue?
    Thanks,
    Priya

The value of a list binding is the zero-based integer position in the list that is selected, not the actual underlying value.
The simplest way to set the value of an attribute is to use an attribute binding (which can be bound to the same attribute as the list binding). When you set the value of an attribute binding, it sets the value as you supply it. Otherwise, you'd need to set the list binding's value to the numerical "slot" number of the one you want to change the value to.

  • How to find out where a value is stored

    Hi,
i entered something in HR Area infotyp 0031, i expected to find those entries in table pa0031, but this table remains empty. How can i find out where sap stores those values?

press F1 on the field where u typed the value. click on technical info and get the table and field name.
in most cases it might be structure. either way, go to se11 and type the table/structure name and then search for the field name in that table.
then dbl click on the data element and click on the where-used button.
now select table entries and start looking for all the tables where the field is present. go to each table and check for the number of table entries and see if the value u entered has been caputred in that table or not.
    hope that helps.
    else u can revert back

  • How to tell if column value has changed for use in workflow actions

    Hello,
I am using Sharepoint 2010 and for one of my Lists, I am using a general list workflow.  What I need to be able to do is determine if a column value has change (say an "Assigned To" field) because I only want to take some action if that particular
value has changed.  I want to be able to have a workflow action that would be something like:
If Current Item: Assigned To not equals [OLD VALUE]
I have found some web searches that talk about creating a duplicate list or duplicate (but hidden) column but that doesn't seem to be the way to go.  I have document versioning set but don't if that can be used to help with this.  One possible
thought (although I haven't tried it to see if it works) is to create local variables and have the values in the variables be the "old value".  Just not sure if there is a best practices for doing this.
Thanks for any thoughts - Peter

    Helen,
Not sure I fully understand your goal.  We don't use "tasks" at all but if you are looking to have your workflow check certain valus and be able to send email messages to people based on whatever, then you can certainly do that (as long as your Sharepoint
has the email setup.  We do this for alot of workflow tasks.
So, in the workflow you can have a blanket statement like what I previously listed:
if Current Item:hiddenStatus  not equals Current Item:Status
        .... do something
or you can do something like:
    if Current Item:hiddenStatus equals "In-Progress"
        .... do something
Else if Current Item:hiddenStatus  equals "Completed"
        .... do something
or combine the two and do nested "if" statements.  Then you add an email statement wherever you need it like:
    if Current Item:hiddenStatus  equals "Completed"
       then email "these users"
To add the email part, just type in "email" on the line where you want to add a statment.  There is only one option to choose from.  That will display the line "then email these users".   The "these users" will be a link.  When you
click it you will get a popup to add the email info.  We typically will send the email to a user (or users) that are already listed in one of the PeoplePicker fields.  On the email form, you can type in your own text, designate that a value is based
on a column value (like our PeoplePicker), designate that a value is based on a workflow variable, add a link to the current item, etc.  To get to these options you will click the button to the right of the fields or use the "Add or Change Lookup" button
in the bottom-left for the text area.  There is alot you can set in the mail.
Does this help answer your question?

WARNING Could not find selected item matching value "null" in CoreSelectOneRadio[UIXEditableFacesBeanImpl, id=dyna_2709976_11]
It seem that the component looks for a selectItem object qith its value set to null, so I tried to add one with a null value to no avail. The error don't cause any problem on the rendered page but it might spam the log when many users will be connected. Anyone every got this error and found a fix to stop it from appearing?
    Regards,

  • How to find if COLUMN DEFAULT VALUE is stored as metadata?

    Hello,
I'm using Oracle 11g enhanced ADD COLUMN Functionality. Adding new columns with DEFAULT values and NOT NULL constraint no longer requires the default value to be stored in all existing records.
Sometimes we change DB columns from NOT NULL with DEFAULT to NULL with DEFAULT. This operation "materialize" column default.
Is there an easy way (Dictionary view) how to find, that COLUMN default value is stored as metadata or is "materialized" ?
    Thanks. Filip
Oracle RDBMS version : Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.3.0 - 64bit Production

Thanks for your suggestion, but it is not what i'm looking for :-(
I don't need to find the default value, i need to know how is default value stored. It could be stored in 2 ways.
    1. "materialized" - prior to 11G (value is physicaly stored for every column)
    2. "as a metadata" - new 11G functionality (default is not physicaly stored and if you query the column DB transalte NULL value to defaut value)
Now I would like to now if my column is type 1) or 2). How can I do it?
    Thank you.Filip

  • How to find out when a file has been written to ?

    Hello All,
In an application I want to open up a file (while letting another process write to it). As stuff is getting written to the file I want to be able to process that data (getting close to real-time as possible). How would one go about finding out when new data has been written to the file ? Does Java provide some alerting mechanism for file changes ? Thanks in advance...
    -Pete

Maybe you could keep tabs of the file size. If the file size grows (which it will do each time the writing process flushes that files output buffer), then the file was written to.
What I'd like to know is if there is some way to monitor the entire drive for changes and respond to stuff like that. I know that the Win32 API provides services that monitor the file system for changes, but I don't know if other OS's do... or if Java provides an interface to those features.

  • How does an NSTextField know that it's value has changed?

I have a textfield that can either be edited by hand, or set through another control. (It's a page number, so you can jump to page 16 by typing in 16, or you can page up and down with the next/prev buttons) I have the value of the text field bound to an int page variable.
It seems to work correctly, when you type a page number in, it jumps, when you page up and down, the page number in the text box changes appropriately.
However, at some level, when I page up and down, the text box doesn't seem to know that it's value has changed, because if I type 1 it doesn't do anything. It doesn't call the bound set-method or anything. It looks like the textfield is thinking "I'm already 1, so I don't need to do anything." Even though it was 5 because I hit next 4 times. If I type an number other than 1, it goes there. If I THEN type 1, it goes to page 1, because now it thinks it's on that other page.
The problem seems to be that I'm changing the value of the textfield programatically, but some part isn't getting the message.
Does this seem like a reasonable explanation? And either way, any ideas on what's causing it?
    thanks

Solution: in order for the textfield to behave properly, I need to do everything through the bound instance variable.
The problem was that the "page" instance variable doesn't actually exist, there's a page method and a setPage method, but the actual page is kept elsewhere. When I make sure to call the setPage method from the next/prev code, it seems to work.
