How to find Patch UPDATE in Oracle !!!

Hi all,
How to find whether particular version of ORACLE DATABASE server is updated with specific PATCH UPDATE in it ?. or is their any way ( do we any views which shows the patch which has been applied) after applying patches ??.
Your response is highly appreciated
Thanks
Sravan

Thanks Human Fly
Actually what I meant was currently am in the process of applying patch
"Oracle Critical Patch Update - October 2005 " multiple security vulnerabilities for a particular version of ORACLE DATABASE server. It should be fixed by applying this patch.
So what I need to know is , is their any way to find whether this particular patch has been applied.
Thanks
Sravan

  • Command for "How to find Cursor Size" in Oracle Stored Procedure"

    Hi
    Can u tell me....
How to find Cursor Size" in Oracle Stored Procedure........
    I want command for that........

why don't you try select count(*) from your_table;That requires running the same query twice - or rather running two different queries twice. Besides it still doesn't guarantee anything, because Oracle's read consistency model only applies at the statement level (unless you're running in a serialized transaction).
This is such a common requirement - users are wont to say "well Google does it" - it seems bizarre that Oracle cannot do it. The truth is that that Google cheats. Firstly it guesses the number on the basis of information in its indexes and refines the estimate as pages are returned. Secondly, Google is under no onus to kepp all its data and indexes synchronized - two simultaneous and identical queries which touch different Google servers can return different results. Oracle Text works the same way, which is why we can get a count with CTX_QUERY.COUNT_HITS in estimate mode.

lastupdtimestamp is a column in my table. And how will this make sense in the scenario I've described, where UserA does an update before UserB, but commits the update after UserB's commited update? And add UserC and UserD and a 1000 more users to this scenario where concurrent updates happen.
What actual time does this lastupdtimestamp contain and represent? And why? How is that lastupdtimestamp used in business logic and processing? Or is it just a silly-bugger-let's-add-somekind-of-time column to that table that essentially meaningless?
Not saying that one should never add such a timestamp based column. Simply that one needs to understand WHAT it contains and it needs to be SENSIBLY used within the data model.
However, in my experience such columns are often slapped on afterwards, never featured in the actual data model designed, and is then used without a second though that the database and its data is a multi-user and multi-process system. And things happen at the same time. And things overlap (serialisation is the exception - not the rule).

    Hi,
You can determine this from OAM or from adpatch "Job Timing Report".

  • How to set notification for latest patch updates from Oracle?

Is there a link to receive notification from Oracle about the latest patch updates on OBIEE or BI Apps?

    Hi Tugdual,
Thanks for your great information. With your information i was resolve my one problem.
But however i have one more problem my application uses jni dll file called webcomponentjni.dll.
In 10.1.2 there was a option in OC4J Containers property
OC4J Container -> Administraton -> Server Property Page -> Environment Variables when i add path to the location of my webcomponentjni.dll it used to work fine.
But in 10.1.3 i don't have that option so i have added in opmn.xml file as follows
-Djava.library.path=<location> but it is not working.
When i try to browse the application it is giving the following error
Message:WCA startup failed with the following message: no webcomponentjni in java.library.path
Have you encountered such problems so far.

I hope, my question is clear as to how to find the memory taken by a process using top command.
Please revert with the reply to my query.
    Regards

a short and correct answer would be: you can't.
As oracle uses a fair amount of shared memory, and that shared memory is attached to most of the oracle processes, the same memory appears a number of times.
you should rephrase your question / what is it you want to achieve?
you can ask oracle how much memory is assigned to it, v$sga, v$sgastat, v$process (for PGA). moreover, you as DBA are the one who configured that.
you can look at major an minor faults per process to see what is causing the paging (if you have any).
you can also look at the /proc/pid/statm pseudofilesystem for your oracle pids.

  • How to find out if the Oracle is a 64 or 32-bit installation

    Hi,
I have a customer who has a 64-bit enabled Solaris 8 machine with an Oracle installed on it.
Is there a simple and quick way to find if the installed Oracle is 64 or 32-bit installation. Something like a v$ table.
    Thanks,
    Tal ([email protected]).

    Hi,
if the database is running, start a sqlplus session. You will see in the banner something like '64Bit Production' (for 64-bit) or only 'Production' for 32-bit. Alternatively, especially if the database is not running, go to $ORACLE_HOME/bin and type 'file oracle'. The returning strings shows either 32-bit or 64-bit.
