  • Fix stucked power button on iPod touch

    Hi,
I was using my iPod Touch 4th generation normally and then I tried to lock it but the power button was stucked even if I push hard it wont work.
The iPod still has the Repairs and service coverage (1 year limited Warranty) if I take it to an Apple Store, the repair will cost?
    Thanks.

Is the power button stuck because of a drop and damage to the metal casing? Or did the power button just malfunction on its own with no damage that you caused?
If you are under warranty and there is no damage inflicted by user, then Apple store should just give you a new/refurb ipod. You will have to restore all your apps and music so I would back up your touch before you take it into the apple store.
If the case is damaged then Apple won't cover it. They will charge you depending on the size of the iPod touch, 8gb, 32gb, or 64gb. If the case is damaged I would send it to iresq as I have sent multiple apple products to them and they can not be beat on price and customer service. Much cheaper than apple every time I have delt with them. They only do work for USA customers (not sure where you are locate).
I hope this helps, good luck.

  • Will apple fix my power button and if so how much will it cost

I need to know how much apple will cost to fix the power button on my iPhone 4

Out of warranty replacement for iPhone 4 is $149 US.
Apple does not repair iPhones, but replaces them.
Check here to see your warranty status:
    https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do
If you are still in warranty and problem is due to manufacturing defect,
Apple will not charge for the replacement.
Make an appointment before going to the Genius Bar to avoid delay:

  • IPhone 4s - Stuck power button

I have an iPhone 4s (out of warranty) and the power button is stuck.  So, I have to wait one minute for it to go to sleep after each use.  Can the Apple store fix it and about how much will it cost?

atc1989 I wouldn't believe any answer you get here on this forum as the value of your phone will be assessed by someone else.  And only the person assessing your phone will determine its true value.  Take a look around this forum...there are soo many people getting screwed out of their $200 trade for something as simple as VZW claiming they didn't deactivate "Find My iPhone".  And they're taking their credit down from $200 to some folks only getting $36 and that's over a simple app.  Imagine what's going to happen to you when your device actually does have an issue (i.e. stuck power button).
Try your luck on eBay and describe the phones condition throughly...you'd have better luck getting a return on your device that way rather than sending it in to VZW and praying for the best.

  • Faulty/stuck power button again! Who was the genius that located the ear-jack hole with the "Liquid Contact Indicator" at the top of the iPhone, so perspiration can accumulate and void the warranty

My Power button is stuck again...... like many, many other owners....like two of my previous iPhones.  According to the Genius at the Genius Bar in Reno, Nv., my warranty is void because the LCI which is located in the ear-jack hole on the top, has come in contact with moisture/humidity/sweat.  My iPhone has never been dropped or wet. My iPhone4s is in pristine conditon and is in great working order except for the "stuck" power button, but because of a poor quality and location of the ear-jack hole, my warranty has been voided. Everything I have is Apple.  The Rep/Genius in Reno while fullly aware on the chronic power button problems, tried to put the stuck button on  an exposure to moisture. He said, "It doesn't matter if mositure didn't cause the button to stick or not. Your warranty voided because of the Liquid Contact Indicated turned color. Of course, the "power/sync" hole LCI is perfect.  Thank you Apple! I think I'll refuse my iPhone5 delivery on Friday and go buy a "Droid" phone.
Hey, who out there wants to buy my new iPhone5 when it gets to me on Friday???

Thanks for your reply. I too would not rule out moisture damaging the power button, but ...
I guess was being too subtle. My points are:
    1. "Stuck" power buttons is a known issue/problem and Apple has been dealing with it since the first iPhone. This is quality problem. The evidence is with other users all around us and all over the web.
    2. The "sweat" issue is a design problem and should've been addressed long before the release of the iPhone5 in a few days.  Yes, they moved iPhone5's  headphone-jack to the bottom/underneath of the iPhone. To say that the "sweat" issue is the users' fault is like saying, Apple iPhones should only be sold to swine or other mammals without sweat glands. We're talking about as little as one drop from someone's temple running down the headphone-jack opening while one is engadged with a phone call.  That's all it takes to change the color of the LCI.
    3. Also I wanted to make my complaint public on this forum and not Facebook,  hoping to both, not only catch the eye of an Apple lurker, but let others know of the danger of speaking on their iPhones while out in the sun, high humidity or driving a car with the top down....... my point being, even the free AT&T Go Phones have protection against the slightest elements.
    4. I paid close to $700 for this iPhone4s 64G less than a year ago.  I don't like being dismissed with a cut and dry, cookie-cutter answer from a 20yr old without reasonable explanation and then be shoo'd out the door. "Next?"
    5. I love Apple products and I'm glad the new release has addressed the jack/perspiration problem although I know there were other factors involved in the decisions to not move/move it.

  • Apple Keybord ADB (Anyone knows how to use the power button?)

Hi, I just found my uncle's old Mac SE and I was wondering if anyone knows how to set the power button on the keyboard (Apple Keyboard) model number M0116C? I want this key to work, because it is actualy not working.
    Tanks!

Hi, I just found my uncle's old Mac SE and I was
wondering if anyone knows how to set the power button
on the keyboard (Apple Keyboard) model number M0116C?
I want this key to work, because it is actualy not
    working.
You don't make any settings for the power switch; either the Mac can use it or it can't. The Mac SE has a rocker power switch on the back of the CPU. The keyboard can't change the state of the power supply. Later Macs could, but not the SE.

  • How much for the power button replacement?

Power button for my iphone 5 can't work, can't power on/off or wake/sleep the device, have to plug in PC for power on, the apple warranty service for my iphone has expired,so, how much for the power button replacement?

Out of warranty replacement thru apple is $269.00 USD.  That includes a 90 day warranty on the replacement device.  You might want to check for repair shops that will just repair the power button, but since your warranty is expired, that might be a cheaper option for you.

Apple does not fix phones. If the phone is out of warranty, to replace it would be $149USC.

  • Hardware or software problem? non-responsive non-stuck power button

    Power button suddenly stopped responding.
It is not stuck as it clicks.
Arbitrarly, the phone would go on sleep while using as if someone pressed the power button! and right after the phone give me "Slide to shut down" as if someone pressed the power button for 3 seconds.
This happen when i'm on a call, and more when it is just there on my desk without me touching it.
As i didn't touch the phone and it does that, i guessed it is a software problem.
I preformed an OS update and the problem still there.
I'm in Dubai, and the weather is very hot and very humid, so i thought it is a hardware problem, but again, how would it do what it does suddenly without me even touching the unit!!!
We don't have Apple store here, just some retailers.
    Anyone with similar experience?

Try going into iTunes and on the same page you find the update option there should be a button to restore. I suggest restoring to factory settings and setting it up as a new phone first before restoring from a back up. If the home button works any better then it was a software problem and I don't recommend restoring from the back up if it works because the back up could carry over the software glitch with it.
If the restore did not fix it then it is a hardware problem.
Also, if it is very hot and humid where you are your phone could be getting water damage without you realizing it. Check the headphone jack to see if it has turned red.

    Hi cwether9!
I have an article that can help you troubleshoot that issue. The article is all about iPhone hardware troubleshooting, and it can be found here:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting

Specifically, the section you will want to reference is right here:
    Buttons and Switches
Sleep/Wake button will not lock or unlock iPhone
To lock the phone, press the Sleep/Wake button. Note: By default, if you don't touch the screen for a minute, iPhone locks automatically.
To unlock iPhone, press the Home button or the Sleep/Wake button, then slide the slider.
If either of the above steps don't work, try turning iPhone off and then on again.
If the iPhone will not power off, reset it.
Try to lock or unlock the phone.
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!
