How to force FF to download a file that is in cache automatically

We have files that others download. The files get changed frequently but have the same name in the same remote folder.
Many times when they download from a link FF does not download it again but uses the last file (same name) that we previously downloaded.
I do not have control of the user who is doing the download.
The files in question are Windows exe files.
The user doing the download is on Windows.
So how can we force FF to download the file and not use the old file in cache????

You should be able to open the zipped file by double clicking on it.

That's my question... simple I hope!
How do I insert a downloadable pdf file?

On your web page select the text ot the object you want to link the pdf-file to.
Then open the Inspector window (View -> Show Inspector or alt-cmd-I) and open the Hyperlink tab (marked by the blue arrow).
Select "enable as Hyper link" and set the "Link to" selector  to "a file".
In the File chooser select your pdf-file.
If your file is large, you might set the selector to "an external link". Then you enter the URL and it is would be your responsebility to upload the file to its site.

How can I import or download AVCHD files on a memory card to FCE?

What camera is this from? Make sure it is actual AVCHD and not some variant such as AVCHD Lite which is not supported.
Also, try this: In the Log and Transfer Pane, click on the Gear icon do set the preferences and set the Import
Preferences > AVCHD Plugin > AC3 Audio to Plain Stereo.
You can also download a trial version of Clipwrap and see if by converting the files to AIC with that software, then importing the files to FCE you have better luck.

How to go to the location of file that I received on skype? I was able to do it easily in old version.
Now, I recieved the zip file. If I click on the file, it shows the Zip File View. I don't know where that file is downloaded. (of cuz, need to dip where I set the download path.) In old version of Skype, there is a link where we can open the file in windows explorere.
I would suggest that the Skype UX or development team needs to read "Don't make me think" short book.

As I said - look whether your original file is damaged or not. If not, I wouldn't change it and find out what in your system makes it sound like it's clipping.
Good sound file, with volume maxed out. No need to change anything.
The same song clipped - no chance to repair.

  • Forcing Safari to download a file

There is a file that I need to download several times a week. The file is auto generated by USPS, and contains postage labels as a pdf. Safari 3 does not appear to know what to do with the file. Safari 5 tried to print the file. I want to save the original file tho. Unfortunately, the file has a non-standard file suffix ("LabelGenerationServlet", which I have no control over).
In Safari 5, I tried downloading the sample postage label file from USPS. Safari 5 tried to print it. Doing a save as pdf from the print dialog saved a file that was almost, but not quite, identical to the original file. Mostly some fonts are not correctly represented by going thru the print services.
Is there any way to tell Safari to save the file, and not to try printing it ? I would even be happy if I could tell Safari to associate that suffix with Acrobat Reader.

    Hi Carolyn,
Thanks for the reply. Most (possibly all) of what that linked article talks about, I am already aware of.
I currently do use Firefox. For arcane reasons, the Firefox download (from USPS to my downloads folder) is 'fragile' (for lack of a better descriptive word). Firefox (based on months of observation) has some problem (possibly a code bug) when (a) the connection speed is slow and (b) the download is over https. Many times the Firefox download 'stalls', and never recovers. That forces me to cancel the download, and start from the beginning. In extreme cases, I have to get in the car and drive to the nearest available broadband hotspot, download the file, then come home and print it.
From a few test attempts, Safari does not have the same problem that I observe with Firefox (i.e. the Safari download of the file is not fragile). However, Safari will not allow me to save the original download file (instead forcing me to print it).
Hence my original question: How can I get Safari to simply download this file (with its atypical file extension) ? I need the original file, and not the pdf created by print services.

  • Why is it now, when I try to login my gmail account, it is trying to force me to download a file connected to the page?

As soon as I try to log into gmail, instead of entering the service. It is trying to force me to download a page or file from gmail.
