How to format page number layout in TOC

I am using the automatic TOC function in Pages to make a table of contents for my thesis. It looked great at first, but when I changed the page margins all the of the page numbers moved to be next to the text section headers and in some cases, bumped down to the next line. I can't seem to change this so that all the page numbers are right-justified as they were when the TOC was originally generated. I've tried removing the TOC and starting from scratch, but I still have the same problem. Just to clarify: I have set "styles" to control the text formatting and indentation for each TOC level. My question is how to designate the proper margins and orientation for the automatically-generated page numbers. Any insight would be appreciated.

Explain how you get those results from that data.
Always say what version of Oracle (and other relevant softward, SQL*Plus in this case) you're using.

How to insert page number on each page for Cross-Tab report?

Hi,
I have created a Cross-Tab in the section Report Header via Crystal Reports 11.
Now, I want to created more Cross-Tabs, and each page has one Cross-Tab.
So, I insert Report Headers to contain Cross-Tabs. But, the report only shows the page number at the last page.
How to insert page number on each page?

Well, the easiest solution is to place the Cross-tab in the Report Footer, Of course, ONLY if the report contains this single object which I'm assuming is not the case.
If you do not wish to place the cros-tab in the Report Footer, here's what you need to do:
1) Create a formula;
whilereadingrecords;
2) Create a group on this formula. If the report already contains groups, move this formula to the top of the grouping list. It won't affect the other groups or records in any way.
3) Move the Cross-tab from the Report Header to the Group Header1 and suppress Group Footer1
4) Add the Page Number field to the Page Footer

Can any body help me regarding my issue...
I have to control footer to display in first-page only...but not in other pages.
for this i am going in this way..
my thought is to use IF condition by checking Page-number =1
but in practice i am unable to put the same in Syntax
by using <?fo:page-number?> i could able to display page-number , but how could use the same in IF condition....

If your report requires a different header and footer on the first page of your report; or, if
your report requires different headers and footers for odd and even pages, you can
define this behavior using Microsoft Word’s Page Setup dialog.
1. Select Page Setup from the File menu.
2. In the Page Setup dialog, select the Layout tab.
3. In the Headers and footers region of the dialog, select the appropriate check box:
Different odd and even
Different first page
4. Insert your headers and footers into your template as desired.
At runtime your generated report will exhibit the defined header and footer behavior.

and you cant chekc like page-number == 1 ,
as the pages are rendered at time runtime, at that time only the numbers will be available.

How to Get Page Break Before Inline TOC in EPUB?

I'm exporting a book file to epub. The TOC is created correctly inline, but I can't yet find a way to get a page break right before it.
In EPUB Export Options->Advanced, I have selected Split Document->Based on Paragraph Style Export Tags.
The TOC Header (saying "Table of Contents") has the paragraph style "TOC Heading." In paragraph styles panel->Edit all Export Tags, I have checked the checkbox for "Split EPUB" next to the "TOC Heading" style.
But, after export, there is no page break before the TOC Header.
How can I correct this?

I think basically you're doing it correctly. I've run into the same problem. What I found is that the heading in the PLACED table of contents (placed by using the Layout > Table of Contents feature and placing it onto the page) will not work for making a page break. It's a special kind of object because it can be updated by the Update Table of Contents command.
You have to do a workaround: You need to create "Table of Contents" in a separate frame and apply the TOC Heading paragraph style.
In the TOC style, DON'T include content for the TOC title. Look at the screen captures below of my TOC.

Question: how to automatize `Page Number`-ing

Hi,
Lets say, I have a document of 150 pages divided to 150 pdf files with a numeric tag in it, from 1 to 150, for a start (that is what I have to deal with).
The first 10 pages are the table of content, that is where I have to take actions (the document can contain any number of pages, 150-10 is just an example)
first, I open the table of content pages and then I merge them into 1 document (Acrobat)
then I go to: `file -> document properties -> open options`
here in the `Page Number` field, I set the number to the page, where I want the merged document to be displayed at open as default, then I save the document 10 times overwriting the existing *.pdf files, every time set the `Page Number` field to be displayed in harmony with the file naming
So now I have 10 completely identical documents containing the same 10 pages, the only difference, if u open them, they will pop on different initial page, as default.
My very simple question is: is there a way (must be) to automatize this process? Unfortunately there are hundreds of them, and it is a really mindblowing experience to do this 8 hours a day
There is a Plug-In, where I could create an action opening the `file -> document properties -> open options` and the `file -> Save As...` menu after each other, this way I only need to edit the `Page Number` field and then select the existing *.pdf file to save/overwrite it, but it is still time consuming and ineffective.

Thanks for your idea. The problem is that Nandor needs to set the Open to Page depending on the filename, ie. file0004.pdf should show page 4 when opened in Acrobat.
Let me explain. Initially there is a folder with an unknown amount of PDF-s in it, named as file0001.pdf, file0002.pdf, ... file0158.pdf etc. All of these pdf-s only contain one page.
The automation should do the following:
merge the first few pdf-s (they can be identified easily: only these pdf-s contain ... (ellipsis characters), save this merged pdf as file0001.pdf, overwrite the original). This is the TOC of a manual.
make copies from the merged pdf (TOC) acccording to the total page of the TOC, naming them as file0002.pdf, file0003.pdf – effectively replacing each single paged pdf with the multipaged TOC.
at the same time set the Open to Page attribute of each TOC clone according to the filename ie. page 4 for file0004.pdf.
I wrote a JS which can make the copies from the merged TOC, and tried to set the pageNum as well, but it fails (strangely enough the last pdf works perfectly, it opens to the right page).
Here is my script:

I suspect that pageNum() is just a runtime method to jump to a page, and I should hardwire it into the PDF somehow (document level JS?). But I don't know how can I attach a JS to a pdf from javascript. Or maybe pageNum() is not the property what I need here...

We are having list of Single page PDF. The pdf are named in the order,
ISBN_Author_01.PDF (with real page number as i)
ISBN_Author_02.PDF (with real page number as ii)
ISBN_Author_03.PDF (with real page number as iii)
ISBN_Author_04.PDF (with real page number as 1)
ISBN_Author_05.PDF (with real page number as 2)
ISBN_Author_06.PDF (with real page number as 3)
ISBN_Author_nn.PDF (with real page number as 500)
Here each pdf has a page number and in sequential order.
The task is to check whether all the pdfs are in sequential order (i.e i, ii, iii, 1, 2, 3). If any page is missing, the script should throw an error report.
To do this task, I am writing a Javascript to get the real page number from the PDF.
Can anybody help me how to get the page number from the PDF using Javascript.

The "real" page number within a PDF is the count of the physical page starting at 0, zero.
pageNum numPages
The number printed on each page is the page label.
setPageLabels getPageLabel
You will have to open each PDF and your script would need to know the page label for that file. I would expect you would need to build a 2 dimensional array of the file names and the page label for the page within that array.

How to Format a number to support multiple languages

I am trying to format a number so that it shows up with the corret decimal separators and thousands separators for different regions/languages, but can't seem to.
123456.223 is 123,456.223 (US English) and 123 456,223 in French (France)
I don't know how many such regional settings are being used and what the decimal and thousands separators are.
If you set the Format to 'System Default Number Format', all is well (But I have to live with 2 digits after the decimal). However, if I want to customize it by saying choosing one of the preset formats or using 'Customize'(say 3 digits after the decimal, for example), then, if I am designing the report in US English setting, the separators from that setting are used, even when the report is generated in French locale. Even if I try to put in a condition for these separators and use 'DefaultAttribute', it doesn't seem to help.
One workaround is to format the number as a string and display the string instead (this time use ToText() function and provide the no. of decimal places needed). But I have aggregations based on this field and they don't work in with string fields.
Could someone advise me if there is a way to solve this problem? (I'm hoping that there is some way, perhaps an easy one to overcome this problem.) It seems anytime I want to change the default setting, the current values are stored and used irrespective of the reigonal setting.

How to print page number in Pages

Please help. I have inserted the page number in my document and I see it the print preview, but when I print it just doesn´t print the page number.

It sounds like you have the page number too close to the edge of the paper and your printer simply does not print to the edge.
Test how much of the page your printer prints, by covering a page with a colored object from edge to edge and seeing how much is clipped off.

How to format a number to "+0000000000.123,45"

Hi! my name is Jorge. My problem is that I need to format a number to a extrange format. I know how to change the decimal point, the number of integer and fraction, etc.
But the problem is I want the number with N zeros at the begining but only with decimal point if there are digit. And I need the sign always appear, if it is a minus or a plus.
For example:
123,456.789 -> +0000000000123,456.789
-1,234,567.890 -> -00000000001,234,567.890
It is possible using a pattern. There is someone who show me how, because I can't find it the rigth pattern.

Here play with this - you'll need to tidy it up a bit for numbers under a 1000 or a million - maybe a parseInt function // * here would do it - Anyway, its a start. I've written it in a drag 'n' drop style so you can test and play first beofre applying it. Thats what I usually do - though I seem to recall java programmers think that 'drag-n-drop' is a dirty term - NO OFFENCE GUYS _ I'M NEW !!!

How to erase page number

I do not remember how I hade put it, so I can not erase...

Page numbres typically are on a master page, so I suggest you go to the master
page (in the Pages pallette). You should be able to erase it there.
Alternatively, if you want to erase the page number on just one page, hold control+shift while clicking on the page number. Then you can erase it.
