How to get 1280x800 resolution on VirtualBOX?

Hello, I have a 1280x800 monitor, and I can't get Virtualbox to fit into my resolution window correctly. With vmware I could do it. Is there any way to perform that?
Greetings

You can do it from a host console.
Start the guest, and then type in the host console
vboxmanage controlvm "put-your-guest-name-here-without-the-quotes" setvideomodehint "1280" "800" "24"
I believe it has to be done just once, but can't confirm- still using VMWare on my laptop.

  • How to get better resolution on graphical borders in Pages?

When using the «line effect» on a picture frame and choose a «image border», these borders a very pixelated and low resoltion when i.e. printing on a quality printer. Seems to be only screen resolution (100-150 dpi)? Is this a bug in Pages – how to get better resolution for these borders when exporting for example to PDF?

Here you see the issue. The Document's size is A6 landscape, means 14.8x10.5 cm, and it prints and shows really pixelated

  • How to get full resolution on Samsung E2420L monitor?

I bought a Samsung E2420L external monitor for my MacBook Pro.  The box says 1920 x 1080, however I can't seem to get the Mac to push more than 1600 x 900.  Samsung doesn't list any Mac drivers, how can I get the full resolution?
    Thanks!

Use extended mode rather than mirrored mode in your display settings on your computer. Uncheck mirrored". Mirrored mode mirrors your computer display, including the resolution, to the external monitor. Extended mode lets you use the external monitor's native resolution.

How do u get the present screen resolution from code?
    thanks

The AWT Toolkit class has got a method called getScreenSize(), it returns an instance of Dimension.
I'm not sure what to do when you have multiple screens though; maybe the methods of the classes GraphicsEnvironment and GraphicsDevice can be used.

  • T410 - How to show 1280X800 Resolution on a 4:3 LCD?

    Hello,
I have a T410 that's running Windows XP. I have a 19" LCD which is 4:3 format, and I want to acheive the following:
I want to have a resolution of 1280X800 (i.e. 16:9 aspect ratio) that's when connected to the external LCD, keeps the same resolution and shows black bars on the top and bottom (i.e. does not stretch the image).
    How can I do that?
    Thanks,

try reinstalling just the graphics drivers from inside the folder of Boot Camp drivers, or the mobility driver for your gpu chipset.

  • How to get full resolution screenshots from iPad with Retina display?

A coworker in another state has an iPad 3 with Retina display. I need him to email me some screenshots from his iPad. The native resolution is 2048x1536 yet every screenshot he sends me is only 1280x960 when opened in Photoshop. We've tried copying and pasting an individual photo in the mail message, as well as going to the camera roll, selecting 1 or multiple images and then sharing to a mail message, but all I ever get is 1280x960. This happens regardless of what the screenshot is of (either a specific app or just the iPad home screen).
Why aren't I getting full 2048x1536 screenshots? What do we need to do to get them? Thanks.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Mirroring won't fill the TV screen. The iPad has an aspect ratio of 4:3 and the iPhone 4S or prior an aspect ratio of 3:2, neither of these will fit exactly into a TV screen which as an aspect ratio of 16:9. The Apple TV will not zoom the mirrored image, because it may well cut off information which is situated at the top or bottom of the screen.
You may wish to try each of the settings in settings > AirPlay > Adjust for Overscan for the best setting that suits you.

  • How to get higher resolution previews in HDR Pro

I often make HDR images by exporting a bracket from lightroom into photoshop via right click>merge to HDR in photoshop.  When the dialog comes up it is always a very low resolution preview.  When I go to zoom in (cmd +) the resolution remains the same and I am zooming in on a pixelated image and the zoom is very limited.  I am working from D3s files so there is plenty of resolution but it just doesn't show up in the preview.  Is this simply the way it works or is there a way I can get a higher resolution preview.  I'm not worried about rendering times either as I'm on a 8 core with 16gb or ram.
    Thanks!

    Liter Cola-
not sure if this is entirely what you want, but there are options in adjusting the preview for a 32bit HDR image. with a 32 bit image you can store the entire dynamic range of the HDR image:
    "32‑bit Exposure
Option for adjusting the preview image for viewing 32‑bits-per-channel high dynamic range (HDR) images on your computer monitor. The slider is available only when the document window displays an HDR image."

  • How to get Best Resolution from iPhoto to iDVD

I have some excellent photographs in a slide show that I want to burn to iDVD. I have tried sending to iDVD but am not happy with the resolution. I have read on this forum that the resolution will always be less when transferred to iDVD.
So my question is in two parts
    1. If using iDVD what steps can I take to ensure the best resolution? I can't crop to screen size at it ruins the composition.
    2. If not iDVD then what will give me resolution as good as or nearly as good as the original slideshow?
    Cheers
    Ollie

    Hi Olie,
It's late so I'm to lazy to google it but is Australia PAL or NTSC? In North America we are NTSC. This means that a DVD will have a resolution of 720x480. It won't matter how high of resolution your files are or what program you use to create the DVD: a standard definition DVD will have 720x480 pixels. Next, the whole DV/DVD specification was designed for motion video, not for still images. So, in general, it is a good idea to apply at least a slight motion keyframe (Ken Burns effect). The following tutorial actually uses PS and After Effects but it gives you an idea:

Of course there are some high-defination DVD options on the market now... in the $1,000 range for a burner!

  • How to get 2560x1080 resolution in Portrait orientation in a 21:9 monitor

Recently, i just own a monitor with the ratio 21:9. I found that when i change my orientation to 90 degrees, it only has 1920x1080 resolution and there is no 2560x1080 resolution so the screen is streched. How can i fix this problem?

    Try the Thunderbolt connection.

  • Satellite P200D: How to get higher resolution with HDMI on external monitor

    Hi,
i have problem with my notebook P200D. I want to use my book with extern LCD in resolution 1680x1050.
In analog connection i have reached this resolution, but the quality of the output is bad.
I see some waves on the screen of LCD. And colors are little bit different.
Notebook has hdmi output too, so I have bought hdmi/dvi cabel, which is working, but i have reached only the resolution of 1200x1020.
Cabel is signgle link, it exists dual link cabel, but i am not sure if this sloves my problem. I have read that the hdmi output in the Toshiba notebooks is only single link.
So i cant reached higher resolution than 1200x1020... Is it true?

Vlada I do not know what you mean with bad picture but if you can use the right resolution the picture must be simply brilliant. I am afraid you can not set the right resolution (1680 x 1050) and because of that you are not happy with analog connection.
About HDMI usage I can just say that I have tried to connect Qosmio G30 to my HD Ready LCD TV. I have just switched to the TV using FN+F5 key combination, checked graphic card settings and set it to the center. The picture was perfect and I didnt change resolution.
It is very interesting theme and I hope someone else will post own experiences.
    Bye and good luck!

  • How to get better resolution on Blu-ray (1080/60i)

I'm experimenting with my new AG-AC160A camcorder and have been shooting youth hockey games in AVCHD mode, 1080/60i, 1/120 shutter, manual gain and white balance set appropriately, and florescent scene file setting due to lighting in rink. I have PP CS5 and am disappointed with the relative lack of HD-crispness when the Blu-ray output is played on my HD LED set. I used the above settings based on recommendations I saw in the forum somewhere. Any suggestions on what I can try differently? Thank you.

To elaborate on Ann's great advice, the Sequence preset you should be using is AVCHD 1080i30 (60i).
A good way to start out with the correct sequence is to import your clips and then drag one onto the "New Item" icon at lower right of Project Bin. This will create a new sequence to match the source material automatically. As Ann mentioned, you have a non-HD preview format, so if you rendered the timeline to green, and checked "Use Previews" on the final export, then your Blu-ray could have "SD quality" footage in it!!
Curious why the 1/120 shutter, hoping to get better action motion?
If you have a current timeline using the incorrect settings, go ahead and add a NEW Sequence with correct settings, open original sequence and "Select All" which is CRTL + A, then CTRL + C to Copy. Then go to the proper AVCHD sequence and Ctrl + V to Paste entire contents. You will now have the edited sequence moved into correct sequence settings. Now use Export and in AME choose "H.264 Blu-ray" and choose the 1080i preset and export, then use results in Encore. The Blu-ray should look excellent when done correctly.
When exporting from AME, do NOT check the box for "Use Previews", as you want to encode direct from original source and skip any intermediate render clips.
    Thanks

  • How to get 1440x900 resolution on external 19" display

My external monitor's native resolution is 1440x900@60Hz, which is not one of the options in my display prefs. Is there a way to do this?

Hi, randychur, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
I don't use Tiger, so the following suggestions may have to be modified a little for use in Tiger. In Panther, what I would try in your situation is described below. This assumes that you want to use both displays, not just the external one.
With the external monitor connected and turned on, open the Displays pane of System Preferences and click the Display tab. Click the "Detect Displays" button. You should see a pictorial representation of your built-in display and your external display as two rectangles. Drag the external display's rectangle to the position that display actually occupies in relation to your Powerbook's screen (left or right side, presumably). If you are seeing the same image on both displays, you are in Mirrored mode, and you need to switch to Extended Desktop mode, becasue in Mirrored mode your external display is limited to the same resolution as your built-in display — you can't set it diffferently. Switch to Esxtended Desktop mode by pressing the F7 function key at the top of your keyboard. Now click on the rectangle representing your external monitor, and you should be able to select from a variety of resolution settings other than the one being used on the Powerbook's own screen.
Post back to let us know whether this works for you. All my experience of using an external display has been with projectors that have lower maximum resolutions than my Tibook screen, so I'm not 100% certain this procedure will do the trick for you.
