How to get Mail to stop rewriting addresses in mail headers

Here is the scenerio:
- I have an address book entry for "Bob and Alice Smith" with an email address "[email protected]"
- Bob sends me email. He has his email client set up to send a From: line to be "Robert Smith <[email protected]>" to differentiate from his wife.
- Mail interacts with Address book, matches the email address, and rewrites *what is displayed* to show it from "Bob and Alice Smith <[email protected]>. (It doesn't change the actual header in the message, as showing the Raw Source.)
- When I reply, instead of using the From: line in the actual message, it uses the From: as modified.
This is wrong behavior. Mail should never automatically rewrite the sender's address when replying. How can I change this behavior?
Thanks
Fred

To anyone else following this, David and I have exchanged emails. I am the only one seeing this behavior.
There just aren't that many things to tweak in Mail.
1. General settings... nothing to do with this.
2. Accounts... nothing relevent.
3. Junk Mail... nada
4. Fonts & Colors ... no
5. Viewing... Show header detail -- Default, Display unread is selected. Others are not. (Message threading is selected)
6. Composing... Plain Text, Check spelling as I type, Auto complete addresses (no LDAP configured), When sending to a group show all member addresses is selected, Quote the text and increase quote level are selected. and include selected text if any otherwise include all.
not much there.

    How can I get the mail headers to "gray" out or be colored when they've been read? Right now, ALL messages in the list are bold black. Once I read an email, it still shows bold and black. I need some sort of identification to show what is NEW and what HAS BEEN READ.
    I've been using Outlook, which grays out read messages.
    Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • Re How to get apple to stop blocking online wagering apps?

    Would anyone have any suggestions for how to get apple to stop blocking online wagering apps in New Zealand? They block them with 'online wagering is illegal in NZ with a mobile device'. This is not true in relation to racing and many forms of online wagering. I have tried AppleCare and the person I dealt with eventually agreed with me but said he could not help. He suggested this forum as he believed postings were read by Apple. I have been able to access the sites via apps on Samsung pad no problems. Don't really want to ditch my iPad and iPhone though.

    Apple's legal department would probably just ignore any such comments. I'd suggest the iTunes Store request page:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html
    Again, you will not receive a reply.

  • How to get or change the ip address of MAXDB database node ?

    Good morning,
    I am having a problem configuring a sap server that is running on a SUSE enterprise linux VMWARE image, the image itself is delivered paused with the server running already but when i shut it down to change hardware configuration and then restart it, the sap server doesnt start, the startsap command gives the error "DB startup failed" i traced the  startdb.log file and found that it "failed to connect to server socket" after more searching i found out that it is possible that the ip defined in the /etc/hosts file for my node is getting changed after restart since i am able to start the database itself using dbmcli command the problem is still connecting to the node, i would like to know how to get the newly assigned ip address for the node so i can put it in the hosts file or a way to keep its ip static between restarts of the OS, any help is appreciated.

  • How to get the remote user IP address if behind the proxy or firewall

    Hi
    How do i get the remote user Ip address who is invoking the servlet behind from a firewall.
    When i use getRemoteHostAddr it gives the proxy ip address not the actuall user host address... Kindly let me know how to get the actual user ip address
    satish

    There is no reliable way to determine the original IP, and such information is not useful to you if the original IP is behind a firewall. What do you propose to use it for? There is probably an alternative way to do things that does not require the remote IP.

  • Does anyone know how to get Adobe to stop charging for a subscription that is no longer being used?

    Does anyone know how to get Adobe to stop charging for a subscription that is no longer being used?

    For full details on cancelling a membership and subscription see the following page:
    Cancel your membership or subscription | Creative Cloud
    Depending on where you are in your subscription cycle / membership and the type of membership
    If you have an individual membership, and opted for the annual membership (lower monthly fee). If you are cancelling in the middle of your membership, then you would be billed 50% of what's left of your membership for the remainder of the year, basically that would then in $$s become more like having taken out a month-by-month membership (higher monthly membership fee).
    If you are in the last month of your annual membership or your are on a month-by-month membership, you can log into your creative cloud account, cancel the plan yourself (no additional charges apply), by logging in with your Adobe ID and password, click your name in top left of screen and click on Manage Account.

  • How to get  documentation of a report with its respective headers?

    I know fm, SRTU1_GET_REPORT_DOCUMENTATION, has to be used to get the documentation of a report. But when i print out the result it only shows the documentation data and not the data's respective headers. Without the headers the data looses its meaning.
    Any idea on how to get both the report documentation and its respective headers.
    Any help will be appreciated.

  • How to get OSB to stop appending port # in the endpoint of a published WSDL

    This is the closest thread I could find to my issue, but still is not quite what I am looking for: How to get ip number in WSDL instead of host name? I have an OSB server behind a VIP, and I am publishing a proxy service for an external client to call. The VIP only accepts connections over SSL/https. OSB only hosts services on http/port 80, and the VIP handles the connectivity and security between them.
    I wrote a wsdl by hand, set my endpoint to the VIP address (https), created the proxy service, and deployed to OSB. I can test the service all day in SoapUI by calling the VIP, so far so good. However, when the client calls https://VIP/myService/?wsdl, he sees the wsdl's endpoint populated as http://VIP/myService:80.
    How do I stop OSB from appending :80 to the endpoint in the wsdl? This makes it unusable for any client caller to generate code by calling ?wsdl, so it forces us to export the wsdl and all schema files and provide to clients by hand. What configuration setting can we change that will fix this behavior?

    appending :80 to the endpoint in the wsdl ... makes it unusable for any client caller to generate code by calling ?wsdl
    I should have mentioned that :80 was an external constraint, so it was not an option to change this portion of the OSB configuration...
    Most wsdl clients should be able to call a wsdl from any port as well... The presence of :80 shouldn't make any difference... So, I can't quite understand that either...The point is to be able to provide a framework to clients that needs as few settings overridden as possible, so we'd like the published endpoint to actually match the true endpoint that we would expect a client to call.

  • How to get the information like IP address,Host name of connected clients v

    Hi Every one,
    I want to get the information like (IP Address,Hostname,Active sessions , Database Server….etc) of the connected clients
    via V$Views(ORACLE).
    And then I like to load these infromation into a table “Client_Table”.
    Could some one give me suggestion that which V$ views/method I use in order to get the above information and then
    how to load these information into a table “Client_table”?
    Your suggestions will be highly appreciated.

  • How to Get Duration, Start/Stop Time of Each Instance (Run)

    Can someone tell me how to get the Duration, as well as Execution Start/Stop times for a given run (Instance) of a Report, stored in History?
    For example, on the BO Server in InfoView, I can browse the History of each report, and for each run, I can click the details and view the Duration and Start/Stop times for that run. How do I get that information in Java via the SDK?
    Neither IProcessInfo nor ISchedulingInfo seems to have this information.
    For example, ISchedulingInfo's Start/Stop Times are for general scheduling (when the report will stop being scheduled). That is not what I want.
    I need specific data for a given completed Run, namely its duration and time endpoints. Thanks a lot.

    Hi,
    fetch the instance of the run like this
    IInfoObjects list = infoStore.query(
    "select SI_STARTTIME , SI_ENDTIME From CI_INFOOBJECTS Where SI_ID=<instanceIDtoMeasure>"
    IInfoObject element = list.get(0);
    Date startTime = element.properties().getDate("SI_STARTTIME");
    System.out.println("Beginn "+ startTime);
    Date endTime = element.properties().getDate("SI_ENDTIME" );
    System.out.println("End " + endTime);
    long time = ((endTime.getTime() - startTime.getTime()) / 1000);
    System.out..println("Runtime " + time + " sec");
    You can get the nstanceIDtoMeasure form your Report with getInstances

  • I set up two identities, the default & one more. How to get mail from the second one?

    I have two different e-mail addresses that I want to get mail from. So the main/default one worked just fine. So I went to options, account settings, identities and set up the second one. But this second one doesn't appear on the start page and still when I Get Mail, it only brings in the mail from the default one. So what do I do?

    You do not place your second account in Identities.
    You go to the Menu Bar and select '''File-New-Existing Mail Account''' and add it there.
    No Menu Bar? Press the alt key.
    If using the '''AppMenu button''', click that and select''' New Message-Existing Mail Account'''

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to get mail, firstname, lastname of user in OID, but I don't know how to work
    Please help me!!!
    Thanks!!!
    PS:I can get the userId by this code
    try
    InitialDirContext ctx = ConnectionUtil.getDefaultDirCtx(server,
    server_port,
    "cn=orcladmin",
    password );
    try
    Subscriber sub = new Subscriber(ctx,Util.IDTYPE_DN, cn,false);
    String[] arr=null;
    User[] user =sub.getUsers(ctx, Util.IDTYPE_SIMPLE, "*",null,arr);
    String[] users = new String[user.length];
    String dm ="cn=";
    for(int i=0;i<user.length;i++)
    users[i] = user.getDN(ctx).substring(0,user[i].getDN(ctx).indexOf(","));
    users[i] = users[i].substring(dm.length(),users[i].length());
    return users;
    //System.out.println("ok");
    catch(UtilException ue)
    System.out.println("error");
    return null;
    } // User myuser = null;
    catch(NamingException ne)
    // javax.naming.NamingException is thrown when an error occurs
    System.out.println(ne);
    return null;

    You are almost there.
    String[] arr=null;
    User[] user =sub.getUsers(ctx, Util.IDTYPE_SIMPLE, "*",null,arr);
    The String Array arr here needs to be an array of attributes that you wish the system to return with the search.
    Then from your User object you can get a collection of those attributes, here is a function that loads them into a HashMap
    private HashMap loadAttributes(User ldapUser, String[] attributes) {
    HashMap resultMap = new HashMap(attributes.length);
    PropertySetCollection psc;
    try {
    psc = ldapUser.getProperties(ctx, attributes, true);
    if (psc.isEmpty()) {
    return null;
    PropertySet userVals = psc.getPropertySet(0);
    for (int i = 0; i < userVals.size(); i++) {
    Property thisProperty = userVals.getProperty(i);
    if (thisProperty.size() > 1) {
    StringBuffer workBuf = new StringBuffer();
    for (int j = 0; j < thisProperty.size(); j++) {
    workBuf = workBuf.append((String) thisProperty.getValue(j)).append(",");
    resultMap.put(thisProperty.getName(), workBuf.toString());
    } else {
    resultMap.put(thisProperty.getName(), (String) thisProperty.getValue(0));
    } catch (UtilException e) {
    return null;

  • How to Get Safari to STOP asking for Password

    Whenever I start up Safari for the first time, it annoyingly asks for a password, and I've dismissed this prompt without typing in any passwords, and I've been able to continue doing what I'm doing. But how do I get Safari to stop asking for a password? I've read similar posts but nothing has been asked in exactly this way, as far as I can tell. What I've done:
    - Gone into Keychain Access and deleted the only Safari-related item I find there, called "Safari Forms Autofill." This works temporarily but the password prompt comes back again, and this item appears again in Keychain Access.
    - Gone into Safari Prefs Autofill and made sure Passwords was unchecked; it was.
    Any ideas?

    Aha, I've answered my own question: You have to uncheck the "Other Forms" option in Safari Auto-Fill Prefs as well. Ho ho ho all.
