How to go back to previous page

I have two JSP pages first.jsp and second.jsp the user starts at first.jsp and clicks the submit button which then takes the user to second.jsp where the users information is saved in a database. I want to know how to go back to first.jsp from second.jsp after the users info has been saved? I have been able to get the previous pages url information put I don't know what to do with it. I know there is a jsp:forward but don't think this can help me. PLEASE someone help me I am stuck and need to move forward.
thank you

Why do you think that jsp:forward will not fit your requirement? An alternative is to use sendRedirect()

  • Why does my safari stops working every time I try to swipe back to previous page

My safari stops working every time I try to swipe (multitouch) back to previous page? There's no spinning beach ball or anything, but the page just stops responding altogether. If I close the non-responding page fast enough the other pages remain fine, but if I just leave the non-reponding page as it is the entire app become non-reponsive and need to be forced quite. I'm running OS X 10.9.1 on a late 2012 MacBook Pro Ret. Anyone having the same prob?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • New page unexpectedly loses ability to go BACK to previous page after clicking on a link in page (not consistent), why?

    Firefox 4.0 Vista 32 bit
I will have a tab open, and click on a link, new page loads. The Back and Forward buttons do not work. Usually it shows in history (unless I opened too many pages before clicking on link). This has happened several times.
It is not consistent - one time I used search bar and opened a Yahoo search page - clicked on search link and when I wanted to go back to look at another search link from the previous page- page would not load (BACK button dead). I clinked search again, clicked on another link and that time it allowed me to return to the previous page???
I am about ready to go back to previous version.
    Thank you.

It's a good idea to try disabling Flash completely and see whether the problem continues. If it does, then my guess is incorrect. To test that, open this tab:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Plugins category
Here you can locate Shockwave Flash and use the Disable button. Keep this tab open for easy access when doing your test.
''If your test confirms that Flash is causing the problem,'' then the other thread has two suggested workarounds. The first is simple to understand (keep some Flash running at all times) but may be inconvenient to do all the time. The second is trickier because it requires editing a file in (or creating and then dragging a file into) a system folder. Fortunately you only need to do it once.

As you can't go back, purchase a new device with the old OS on it, transfer your sim and restore it with an old backup that is still the old OS and learn your lesson.
    DON'T UPDATE your device.
That only works if there is a previous backup that is using an iOS that is the same or older as the version of the iOS on the device.  And if the OP ends up purchasing a device that, say is running iOS 6.0.1, but their backup is using 6.1.3, then they're still stuck with having to upgrade.
It's far easier to simply accept the newer iOS, get used to it, and provide feedback to Apple about what imrovements/changes you'd like to see.  Functionally, iOS 7 is better.  Aesthetically, well, your mileage may vary.

  • How to go back to previous block?

    Hi,
I got a problem in navigation.I want to go back to previous block if user click a button.I use the function: previous_block but it go back according to how you put inside your datablock tree.I cannot use go_block('block_name') function also because when user click that button, it can go back to different blocks according to different situtations.
Can anyone help me what is the command to go to previous block??
    Thanks a lot.

    Create a Global variable GLOBAL.PREV_BLOCK
Before leaving any block to go to another one (look for GO_BLOCK commands and KEY-NXTBLK triggers)
    :GLOBAL.PREV_BLOCK:=SYSTEM.CURSOR_BLOCK;
When you wish to return to the previous block
    GO_BLOCK (:GLOBAL.PREV_BLOCK)

  • How can I return to previous page? There used to be an arrow in upper left side of screen that would allow this, but it has disappeared.

I have the latest version of Firefox, 5.0 installed today, but no arrow in upper left part of screen that previously would let me return to previous page.

can I somehow edit the location of where I can find all the sheets (right now they are on top of the page, and you can't see all of them listed at quick glance but must scroll/arrow through them)
On my machine I just hit shift-command-j (the keyboard shortcut I assigned in System Preferences) and a list of the sheets in the current document pops up:
I type a number from the list and jump immediately to that sheet. The hands never have to leave the keyboard.
(This particular document had a sheet named for each month.  But the sheets in your document automatically will be listed instead.)
This is done via a Jump to Sheet Automator Service (Dropbox download).  To install just doubleclick the .workflow package and (if needed) click 'Download Anyway' in System Preferences > Privacy & Security.
Installation will cause a new item to appear in your Numbers > Services menu.  Then, if you want a keyboard shortcut, go here in System Preferences and add one:
You can rename or remove the service by holding down the option key in Finder and choosing Go > Library > Services. You can also view the AppleScript contaned within the service by opening the .workflow package in Automator.
Note, also, that in Numbers 3 you don't have to use those left-right arrows upper right to slowly scroll left-right to the sheets that are out of view.  Just move your cursor up to the "band" with the "tabs" and drag left or right.  That's much faster than using the arrows.

  • How to go back to previous step in a sub workflow?

We are calling a sub workflow upon approval action from a main workflow. In the child workflow we have 9 steps. If at any step in the child workflow (other than first) user does reject action, the workflow control should go back to previous step in the child workflow itself.
We added a custom action in the exit events of all the child workflow steps. Following is the logic of exit event of Step4 of child workflow. Similar logic is there for all steps in the child workflow.
<$if wfAction and wfAction like "REJECT"$>
         <$wfSet("wfJumpTargetStep", "Step3@childWF")$>
         <$wfSet("wfJumpEntryNotifyOff", "0")$>
    <$endif$>
With this code when the user is doing reject action from child workflow, it is taking us back to the main workflow and not to the previous step of child workflow.
    Is this approach correct?
    -Pratap

    1. The 3 events are Entry, Update, and Exit.
    2. Rejects happen in the Update area but you can not reliably react to it there because upon reject it immediately leaves (not going through the exit event).
    3. The rejected content goes backwards in the Workflow step by step (even going back to the main workflow from a sub workflow) until it finds a Step that has valid Editors (not just reviewers).
    4. If it does not find an Editor step it goes all the way back to the automatic Contribution step at the beginning of the Workflow and sits there in a kind of no mans land until the contributor (or an admin) goes and approves it again.
    5. To check if something has been rejected the Entry Event of an editor Step BEFORE the step where it is rejected needs to have code to check for the Reject status.
The sub workflow should be able to capture the Reject as you desire. Are all of the steps in the child workflow (sub workflow) Review only steps? Or maybe the people in the steps do not have RW access to the document? This is what I would predict with your described symptoms.

  • Why do I keep getting this message when I try to go back to previous page? "object moved to here"

This is so annoying. I use ancestry.com a lot and after I look at a census or a person on ancestry.com, I try to use the back arrow to go back to the page I started on and the screen goes white and it says "object moved to here." The "here" is a link, but it doesn't work to get me back to the page I want. I have to use the back arrow several times and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, then I have to start ancestry all over again. This is so annoying!

This is likely an issue with the site and you'll have to contact them and ask them to fix it. But a link to a public page where this happens and lets us reproduce the problem might be helpful.

  • When I last up dated Firefox the forward and back arrows dissapeared. Now if I want to go back I have to go to History to get back to previous page. How do I get these forward and back arrows?

On MSN web sight there use to be forward and back arrows on the left hand upper side of page that let me go forward and back from page to page. Now the arrows are gone and I have to use the History or Bookmarks to move back and forth.
The arrows didn't reappear when I up dated to the new foxfire.

Click the Firefox button, go to Add-ons, then Plugins and disable the following:<br><br>
    * Fun Web Products Plugin<br><br>
    * My Web Search<br><br>
Both of these are adware/spyware and cause performance issues in Firefox.
Next, click the Extensions menu link (above Plugins where you are) and remove the "Ask Toolbar".
If the problem persists, please do the following:<br><br>
    #Click '''Help '''| '''Restart with Add-ons disabled'''.<br><br>
#In the next menu which appears, checkmark: "'''Reset toolbars and Controls'''".<br><br>
#Finally, click the button called "'''Make changes and restart'''".
Just in case you weren't aware of it, you can right click the Back or Forward buttons to get a list of sites visited. If you'd like to see the return of the arrow on the Back button, install this add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/backforward-dropmarker/
Last but not least, some of your plugins are seriously out of date which exposes your system to exploits. Please visit the [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/ Plugins Check] page and update where necessary.

    1 am pdt update time

See McAfee support to find out how to disable that McAfee feature - that isn't part of the normal Firefox installation.

  • I hate my new update.  All pages are printed too small for my aging eyes!  Yes I know how to do Command   but don't want to do this every time.  Also, more importantly, where is my Google search engine?  And why no easy way to click back to previous page?

Okay, as soon as I sent this I figured out where Google search is!

The desktop, the mail, all webpages.  I know there used to be a way to fix this in preferences but now cannot find it.
Also my home page will no longer open (BBC America).
I found the Safari Search option (should have been obvious!) But on other hand, do not understand why tool bar keeps disappearing - aah, just another of life's mysteries (until I figure it out!).

The page1 is navigated via 'Create' button in CitizenSearchPG
Now on this Page1, when I clicks on the 'Next' button (to navigate to the next page in the same multi-step flow) I am getting following exception and its not navigating to page2.
    Error: Cannot Display Page
You cannot complete this task because one of the following events caused a loss of page data:
    * You accessed this page using the browser's navigation buttons (the browser Back button, for example).
    * Your login session has expired.
    * A system failure has occurred.
To proceed, please select the Home link at the top of the application page to return to the main menu. Then, access this page again using the application's navigation controls (menu, links, and so on) instead of using the browser's navigation controls like Back and Forward.

  • Aperture web gallery - how to link back to main page from iWeb?

Okay, this may be simple, but I can't figure it out.
I created and uploaded a few web pages with iWeb to my dot.Mac account (web.mac.com/f8lee50) just to get a feel for things. I then created a web gallery with Aperture and uploaded it - naturally Aperture generated a URL for the gallery, which I set up as a link on my "Photos from Hawaii" page (the link is the word 'this' in the second paragraph, if you wawnt to look).
Okay, so this gets me from the "photos from Hawaii" page to the gallery, and within the gallery I can jump to the various images etc. But how does one navigate back to the "Photos from Hawaii" page from whence they came? Is there some sort of smart link that can be inserted (by Aperture?) that will send the viewer back to the main homepage? Or are the Aperture galleries essentially dead ends?

Richard, thanks for responding - I'll check that tutorial.
And thank you for the kind words, me100finn. I have not played with any variables as far as layout on the gallery (I did a bunch of stuff with the books, but the web gallery seems far less flexible) so I cannot answer your wuestion about the gray shadows.
Steve, thank you for the additional clarification (and the hint about spaces in URLs) - I guess what this all boils down to is that the web galleries from Aperture are not all that useful when they are meant to be a part of a bigger overall site. I'm not sure of what you meant when you say they have little forward or backward navigation in them - at least you can click on a thumbnail to get to an image, click next or previous or the grid to get back to the thumbnail galery. But, 'twould seem that hand coding HTML pages (the very thing I was hoping to avoid) is the only way to really integrate them. Given that, I gues the better approach will be just to use iWeb to load the images anyway.
Well, folks, thank you all for your answers. Until I do a re-do, I guess the back button is the way to go (which, for the record, I did sorta figure out myself
