How to handle DDL in remote database

Hi our db running on 10g. How to handle DDL's on the remote database? My requirement is as a object migration, how to migrate object/s from database A to database B through user. Say i have table call my_table in database A I want to create/replace this table on database B as a database user. Is there a way can be done? Database link or streams or any other method?
Thanks in advance,
-B

You have many options to do this, just to name a few
use COPY command of SQLPLUS
SQL> copy from scott/tiger@DB_A
         to scott/tiger@DB_B
         create new_emp using select * from emp;create database link to database A in database B, run this from database B
create new_emp as select * from emp@dblinkDB_A;or export/import
etc.

  • How to connect to a remote database in a lan??

    Hey guys......! I need to connect to a remote msaccess database in a lan and import its data into my mysql database.I know how to connect to a msaccess database using ODBC.But I don't know how to connect to a remote database without creating dsn in the machine where database is.One thing more...I want to know, how can I import data into my mysql database?? Is there any query for that or simply I have to select data from msaccess database and insert into tables of my database??Please, send me the source code in the forum itself and explain also.This is the last feature of my project.So I need to do it as soon as possible.

    If the mdb file in LAN, Just map the network drive.[Windows Explorer/Tools/Map Network Drive] in your system from which we need to access the remote mdb. Then go to ODBC Data Source Admin.. and create a new data source[Microsoft Access Driver] . After clicking the Select button, you will find a Network Drive will be visible on your Drives drop down. Select the map Drive, If not visible then just click the Network button there and map the network path where the mdb files reside. And use the JdbdOdbcDriver class to connect from java.

  • How to use an existing remote database instance?

    Hi,
    is it possible to use an existing remote database instance for installation of Solution Manager?
    Our dba has setup an empty database instance on a hpux oracle cluster for me and I don´t know how to tell the SAPinst during the installation of the distributed system that it should use this existing database.
    Or is it mandatory to run the installation on the host where the database should resides and then create a new instance?
    Thanks in advance for any hints!
    Christian

    We currently don't support DataControls based on the ADF BC technology. We will consider such support if there is a strong interest in that use case.
    Independent of the IDE's you use, there are ways to expose services based on ADF BC that can then be consumed by the view layer. A Google search will point you to some of the approaches.
    HTH. Thanks for your interest in OEPE.

  • How can I check a Remote Database is alive in a Stored Procedure

    Hi
    In a PL/SQL stored procedure, I do a select from a table on a remote database via the database link. There is a Loop around the select as it waits for a flag to be set on the remote table. However, on several occasions, while looping, the remote database has gone down and the procedure then fails with error:
    'Details ORA-02068: following severe error from ORA-02068: following severe error from 'Remote Database ' ORA-01033: ORACLE initialization or shutdown in progress ORA-06512: at "Current Database.Stored Procedure", line'
    Is it possible to trap this error and prevent the procedure from crashing?
    My current code is like:-
    LOOP
    SELECT flag
    INTO v_flag
    FROM remote_table@remote_db;
         IF v_flag= 'OK'
         THEN
    < Run Oracle Warehouse Builder Process Flow >
         EXIT;
         ELSE dbms_lock.sleep(600);
         END IF;
    END LOOP;
    Any help with this would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    GB

    Hi Bernd
    Thanks for your help. If I do this, I think the procedure would continue onto the 'IF' statement. I am looking for a way of looping round and trying to run the select again before moving on.
    If I did something like
    LOOP --- Loop 1 ---
    LOOP --- Loop 2---
    BEGIN
    SELECT flag
    INTO v_flag
    FROM remote_table@remote_db;
    EXCEPTION WHEN OTHERS THEN NULL;
    END;
    -- Need to exit if no exception ---
    END LOOP;
    IF v_flag= 'OK'
    THEN
    < Run Oracle Warehouse Builder Process Flow >
    EXIT;
    ELSE dbms_lock.sleep(600);
    END IF;
    END LOOP;
    Is there a way of going back to the start of Loop 2 if there was an exception, otherwise EXIT and continue onto the 'IF' statement.

    Hello,
    this forum is dedicated to APEX Listener, a web server alternative for AEPX. I guess you actually wanted to post in {forum:id=137}. I'd recommend to open a new thread there and mark this thread as answered.

  • How to handle link to Remote Desktop

    How do you handle a link to remote desktop--it's to a server that the user needs to use in the event of a shutdown to a system.

    Rick,
    Does this help?
    Connect to the service termination PI server through Remote Desktop by double-clicking the following server names.
    Then there is a list of six server names, which are embedded objects, to double-click on.

  • How can i connect to remote database from netbeans

    Hi,
    I have got MySQL database server installed and running on a different machine. Is there any way to connect and browse database remotely using netbeans 5.5?
    I have added connector/driver for that database. i can connect and browse the database with host: "localhost" and port number. But when i specified the ip address of that machine, it gives me error.
    Can anyone help please.
    cheers.

    well, its not working in App server either.
    In App server admin console, on that connection pool if i define servername as "localhost", it works fine. If i change it to the remote machine's ip address, then it doesn't work.
    Any idea will be appreciated.
    cheers.

  • How to handle and Manage Multi DataBase access with LCDS in runtime ?

    Hello there
    I got several customer working with the same application and I wonder how,  with LCDS,  to manage  in a runtime a multi dataBase access; without creating a configuration "mxl" file in
    the folder catalina for each database.
    Indeed, each customer have their own dataBase, and so far, I did not find out how to avoid creating a config xml file in catalina for every single database; which force me to create as well for each customer a  folder application, since the name of the config file in catalina require a folder application to be ran under tomcat....
    Thus, my question is :
    Is there anyway to create only one configuration mxl file in catalina (in the server side) and then from the client side (application) let the user select its environment (meaning its database) to run the application.... this technic can be also used for multi database environment such as : Dev / Test / Prod   environment (or database) where the same application can access to.
    Please if any one have an idea or already delt with; just let me know, because I'm entering in a bootle neck and the situation is getting serioulsy critical....

    Hello Ulrich,
    with compact and repair I mean the MSAccess function "Compact and Repair".
    Please follow the link below for more details:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/access-help/compact-and-repair-an-access-file-HP005187449.aspx
    Normally you can execute this function directly in Access or with the Windows ODBC Data Sources Administrator  => "Control Panel" => "Administrative Tools" => "Data Sources (ODBC)"...
     I want to execute this function via cvi code and not by hand ;-).
    Thank you for your support.

  • How to handle Null value in Database Adapter

    I configured the DA Adapter, with operation type as "Perform an Operation on a Table - Select" and added few where clause parameters (StreetNo, StreetName city, country, state, zipcode)too.
    If we won't enter any value for any of the column in the table (S_ADDR_PER) is taking as NULL, so what happening is, if i give "%" or if i leave as "blank" to those columns(input for where clause parameter). The DB adapter not fetching any records. Any help to handle this situation.
    I need query like this...
    select * from S_ADDR_PER where city like '%' AND state is NULL AND addr_line_2 like '%';
    seems.... I can't use the pure SQL option since i don't know which column will be null. Some case the addr_line_2 column will be NULL in table, in some other case the state or city column will be null.

    Hi,
    you can handle null with date like this , If it doesn't wortk for you then please explain your problem.
    select NVL(to_char(sysdate,'DD-MON-YY'),'Not Recorded')

  • Connecting remote database

    Hello,
    I am trying to realize the example discussed in
    updating a table in a database with data from a table in another database
    My 1st concern now is how to connect to the remote database.
    How do one connect to it?
    schema.tableName@server:port:dbName
    is not doing it. I have to apply it in a java program and I am testing it with Toad.
    Thanks + regards

    Just create a DB LINK for this kind of task. Say if you have two databases, one is db1, the other is db2. Create a db link for db2 in db1, then in your java program, connect to db1 as you normally do and submit sql statement like:
    select * from schema.tablle@db2
    Hope this helps.

  • How to find whether remote database is up or not (connected via dblink)

    Hi,
    I am using dblink to connect Biz database from Dev database.(Biz, Dev - database names)
    Running dbms job using the dblink from the Dev database to update data on Biz database...
    Problem is dbms job should run if and only if the Biz database is up for which i created the dblink...
    1) How to make sure or implement the check to find whether the Biz is database is up or not in Pl/sql or sql...
    2) How to reschedule the dbms jobs once the database is up
    pls suggest me how to find whether the database is up or not b4 running the dbms job?
    Using- Oracle 10g

    The only way to know whether the remote database is up (and whether the network between the two databases is up and whether the remote database's listener is up and whether the password configured in the database link is correct and whether the local TNS alias is correct, etc) would be to actually run a query against the remote database over the database link. In other words, the way to figure out whether the link is up is to let the job run and catch & handle exceptions when there are problems.
    By default, a job scheduled via DBMS_JOB will automatically reschedule itself if there is an unhandled exception by geometrically backing off (it waits 1 minute after the first failure, 2 minutes after the second, 4, 8, 16, 32 minutes, etc until it's marked as broken after 16 failures). You could, of course, catch appropriate exceptions and handle them in a reasonable fashion and manually reschedule jobs at intervals that make more sense for your particular job.

  • How to Select data using same column name from 3 remote database

    Hi,
    Can anyone help me on how to get data with same column names from 3 remote database and a single alias.
    Ex.
    SELECT *
    a.name, b.status, SUM(b.qty) qantity, MAX(b.date) date_as_of
    FROM
    *((table1@remotedatabase1, table1@remotedatabase2, table1@remotedatabase3)a,*
    *(table1@remotedatabase1, table1@remotedatabase2, table1@remotedatabase3)b)*
    WHERE b.dept = 'finance'
    AND a.position = 'admin'
    AND a.latest = 'Y' AND (b.status <> 'TRM') AND b.qty > 0;
    GROUP BY a.name, b.status ;
    NOTE: the bold statements is just an example of what I want to do but I always gets an error beacause of ambiguous columns.
    Thanks in advnce. :)

    Each object must be uniquely identified. So you cannot do this:
    select * from (table1@remotedatabase1, table1@remotedatabase2, table1@remotedatabase3) a3 objects cannot share the same alias. Example:
    SQL> select * from (dual, dual) d;
    select * from (dual, dual) d
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-00907: missing right parenthesisYou need to combine the objects - using a join or union or similar. So it will need to be done as follows:
    SQL> select * from (select * from dual d1, dual d2) d;
    select * from (select * from dual d1, dual d2) d
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-00918: column ambiguously definedHowever, we need to have unique column names in a SQL projection - so the join of the tables need to project a unique set of columns. Thus:
    SQL> select * from (select d1.dummy as dummy1, d2.dummy as dummy2 from dual d1, dual d2) d;
    DUM DUM
    X   X
    SQL> I suggest that you look closely at what scope is and how it applies in the SQL language - and ignore whether the objects referenced are local or remote as it has no impact to fundamentals of scope resolution.

  • How to create materialized view log on remote database

    How do you create materialized view logs on a remote database.
    I tried
    create materialized view log on global_express_views.vccs438_project_work_request@h92edwp with sequence, rowid ( columns...)
    ERROR at line 1:
    ora-00949 illegal reference to remote database

    Hi,
    I am not getting the error exactly. But have some suggestion:
    If the schema owner does not own the master tables, then the schema owner must have the GLOBAL QUERY REWRITE privilege or the QUERY REWRITE object privilege on each table outside the schema.
    Hope, this may help you?
    Thanx.. Ratan
