  • How Connections are handled on WebLogic JMS server

    I have a cluster with two managed servers, S1 and S2, running on 8.1SP3. I configured connection factory for both servers: CF1 for S1, CF2 for S2.
              A client, C1, lookups CF1 and create a connection thru it. At this point, I thouht C1 is "connected" to S1. But when I shutdown S2, in about 50% of occasions, C1 will receive lost server exception.
              What's going on here?
              Thanks,
              JD

    Good morning,
              A JMS client routes all operations through a single JMS connection host, where the connection host may consists of any one of the servers that host the designated connection factory. Once established, a JMS client's connection host doesn't change. In your case, 50% of clients load-balance to connection host S2 when they establish a connection.
              In most applications, best practice is to target CFs only at those server(s) that thost the client's destination.

  • How to handle fault event using Cairngorm?

    Hi,
    I have started using Cairgorm framework recently. But in this, I'm not able to figure out a place to handle a fault event. Based on some tutorial, here's my Command code:
    public class LoginCommand implements ICommand, IResponder{
            public var model:ViewModelLocator = ViewModelLocator.getInstance();
            public function LoginCommand(){
            public function execute(event:CairngormEvent):void{
                var loginEvent:LoginEvent = event as LoginEvent;
                var delegate:LoginDelegate = new LoginDelegate(this);
                model.userName = loginEvent.loginAttempt.userName;
                model.password = loginEvent.loginAttempt.password;
                delegate.login(loginEvent.loginAttempt);
            public function result(data:Object):void{
                model.applicationState = model.constants.MAIN_SCREEN;
                model.acCarbonFootPrint = data.result.EtCarbonFootPrint;
                model.acVariants = data.result.EtVariant;
                model.acBuildings = data.result.EtBuilding;
                model.cbLabelField = model.constants.FIELD_DESC_NAME;
                CursorManager.removeBusyCursor();
            public function fault(info:Object):void{
                CursorManager.removeBusyCursor();
                var faultEvent:FaultEvent = FaultEvent(info);
                Alert.show("Some fault...");
    If the return from the webservice is successful, it get's into result function. But if there is something wrong(like URL is offline), it wont get inside the fault function. Instead I get a runtime error. Here' a screen shot which depicts the dispatch of fault event from WebService.as:
    Is there some other place\function where I can catch this fault event?

    Usually, if there is a mismatch in data type (input character length exceeds the number that is defined for a field at backend DB table), I get a faultCode:DecodingError
    faultString:SOAP Response cannot be decoded. Raw response:
    This fault event will be caught in the fault function in the code above.
    But it is not catching the faultCode, Server.Error.Request and it's not triggering the fault function.................

  • How to handle when Client and server write to the socket at the same time

    Hi all,
    I'm writing a socket communication when client and server may write information the the socket at the same time. I look every where but the samples from the internet only shows example of server replies to client after receiving requests from clients.
    Let's say that:
    Client 1 ->Socket 1 -> Server 1
    Now if there are two threads in the server, one blocked waiting for the input from client on socket 1, the second one write something on the socket to client 1, is it possible?
    And if it's possible, if at the time Server 1 writes information to Client 1, Client 1 writes some information to Server 1 too, will there be any conflict problem or the socket could handle that two ways communication simultaneously?
    It's critical questions for me. Thanks for your help.

    I really use Server Client paradigm. However, beside the request, response mechanism, there is also an additional mechanism called update which server periodically send information update to client without the need for a request from client.
    So you suggest client should initiate 2 sockets, one for request and response, one for receiving update from the server? Will this work?

    Thanks for going over the problem it is resolved now by changing weblogic-ejb-jar.xml. To point to weblogic initial context factory. Since weblogic has a foreign server defined so MDB is able to read from MQ que.

  • How to configure JMS-Server to use username and password

    Hi
    Maybe this is a real stupid question, but please help me, I'm not very experienced using JMS:
    I'm using JMS (provided by OC4J / Application Server 10.1.3). I configured a ConnectionFactory (without username and password) and a Queue and there is also a application, which successfully opens the JMS-Connections.
    This works well as long as I do not provide a username und password in the ConnectionFactory (EnterpriseManager: OC4J/Admin/Services/JMS-provider...). If I do this, my application terminates with the following stacktrace:
    javax.jms.JMSSecurityException: JMSServer[aplora2:12602]: failed to authenticate "myuser/mypassword", no such user.

    where "myuser" and "mypassword" are the username and password I entered in the ConnectionFactory. (My Application certainly uses the same username and password)
    I expected, that by entering username and password here I would configure my Queue to be protected by them. But obviously there are some very basic things I didn't understand. Can anyone give me a hint, how I can protect the (OC4J-) JMS-Server or the Queue by username and password?
    Thanks for your help
    Frank Brandstetter

    Hey Frank -
    Assuming you've set up users in the "Security Manager" for your application, you can specify what JNDI resources they can "read" (and thus also connect to) via the orion-application.xml file. Look at the following snippet from the orion-application.xml file:
         <namespace-access>
    <read-access>
    <namespace-resource root="jms/firstQueue">
    <security-role-mapping impliesAll="false" name="jmsSecurity">
    <user name="scooter"/>
    </security-role-mapping>
    </namespace-resource>
    </read-access>
    <read-access>
    <namespace-resource root="delme">
    <security-role-mapping impliesAll="false" name="jmsSecurity">
    <group name="messagingUsers"/>
    </security-role-mapping>
    </namespace-resource>
    </read-access>
    </namespace-access>
    This would say that only the user "scooter" that you've set up would have access to the Queue whose JNDI name begins with jms/firstQueue. Anyone you've set up and added to a messagingUsers group would have access to any Queues whose JNDI name begins with "delme". (I'm honestly not sure what exactly this line does: <security-role-mapping impliesAll="false" name="jmsSecurity">)
    This is the only way I've found to limit access to a particular Queue.
    HTH.

    Hi Prameela,
    If you want the server event to be triggered in the search view, you have to add the code in the GET_DQUERY_DEFINITIONS method.
      DATA: lv_getter TYPE string.
    CONCATENATE 'GET_P_' <rt_result>-field INTO lv_getter.
        TRANSLATE lp_getter TO UPPER CASE.                    "#EC SYNTCHAR

  • How to handle Back button, Browser Refresh problem at server side.

    Hi Friends,
    How to handle Back button, Browser Refresh problem at server side in java?.
    I am able to trace that,
    request.getHeader("ACCEPT") is returning value- */*
    when the browser was refreshed and returning different MIME types
    for all other actions from browser.
    I have doubt, will the above solution works always for all servers,browsers?.
    Please also specify any solution to handle back button at server side?.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Venkat..

    I'm sorry I don't think tht's the right solution for
    the above question....
    We must be aware that whatever scripting methdologies
    we either javascript/vbscript would executed @
    client(browser) side not @ server side....
    Dud If U get a good solution keep me updated.....
    THANKS & REGARDS,
    RAHULMy dear friend ...
    the bad news is that u simply cant disable or add any listener to the back button of the browser.
    When u hit the back button of ur browser the URL gets re-executed. So in case u have a JSP then the history.forward() is the best solution. [only if the page doesnt get expired similar to secure https sites]
    Now dont say that user can have javascript disabled ...those users will have a pretty touch time browsing websites since javascripts r used extensively by almost all websites.
    But in case u have an action.do or servlet call then u need to manage it using a session variable since the request will be sent to the server rather than client.
    For multiple form submittion issues read the following article in javaworld...
    Client vs. server solutions
    Different solutions can solve this multiple form submission situation. Some transactional sites simply warn the user to wait for a response after submitting and not to submit twice. More sophisticated solutions involve either client scripting or server programming.
    In the client-only strategy, a flag is set on the first submission, and, from then on, the submit button is disabled based on this flag. While appropriate in some situations, this strategy is more or less browser dependent and not as dependable as server solutions.
    For a server-based solution, the Synchronizer Token pattern (from Core J2EE Patterns) can be applied, which requires minimal contribution from the client side. The basic idea is to set a token in a session variable before returning a transactional page to the client. This page carries the token inside a hidden field. Upon submission, request processing first tests for the presence of a valid token in the request parameter by comparing it with the one registered in the session. If the token is valid, processing can continue normally, otherwise an alternate course of action is taken. After testing, the token resets to null to prevent subsequent submissions until a new token is saved in the session, which must be done at the appropriate time based on the desired application flow of control.
    for more details refer :
    http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/javatips/jw-javatip136.html
    Hope u got the idea.
    FYI I have been using both these ideas in my credit card payment gateway project. This concept has worked really well.

  • How the JMS client detect if the JMS server is still running?

    I have a JMS server running on Weblogic and a JMS client running as a standalone application on my local machine. I ran into the problem that if the JMS server is down for a period of time and then get re-started, the JMS client will lose its connection to the server. Since JMS client is just passively listening to the topic it subscribes, it will have no information about the status of the JMS server. Therefore it will not be able to receive any new message if the JMS server is restarted.
    I wonder if there is a way I can have the JMS client automatically detect if the connection to the server is lost or reset. I tried to use a while loop in JMS client that does a JNDI loopup every minute to check if the JMS server is up. But if the WL server is down, the JMS client will just catch an exception and crash.

    Hi,
    You should use an exception listener that allows a client to be notified of a problem asynchronously. As your client only consumes messages, it would have no other way to learn that its connection has failed.
    Hence, you should implement the interface ExceptionListener (let says MyExceptionListener) and define your reconnection logic in the method onException(JMSException exception). MyExceptionListener has to be registered with your connection with the method:
    public void setExceptionListener(ExceptionListener listener) throws JMSException
    Hope it helps,
