  • How to handle BAPI RETURN message?

    Hi ,
    I developed a bapi ,it is calling from java  application . i don't konw how to send the return message to java application .Pl any one help out this problem.
    Thanks&Regards,
    Pratap

    bapi's normally have a return parameter of type BAPIRETURN (structure) or BAPIRET (internal table) that contain the result messages from a bapi. So if you develop your own bapi you should add this kind of export parameter.

    Can any one please suggest me how to handle that boolean value from the xml statement?

  • How to handle carriage return/linefeed embedded in text field as first char

    Hi,
    I am trying to use sqlldr to import text that is comma-separated and double quote-enclosed, but contains embedded carriage return/linefeed pairs. I have a control file which works for most cases and looks like this:
    LOAD DATA
    INFILE './foo.new'
    APPEND
    CONTINUEIF LAST PRESERVE (<>'"')
    INTO TABLE <tablename>
    FIELDS TERMINATED BY "," ENCLOSED BY '"'
    TRAILING NULLCOLS
    Unfortunately, this fails when the very first character of the text field is a carriage return/linefeed pair, e.g.,:
    "11","22","33","\r\nThis is the fourth field","","","","",""
    In that case, what is actually the opening double-quote for the fourth field, is interpreted by the CONTINUEIF clause as the end of that line. Can anyone please point me to a solution?
    thanks.
    stan.

    Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, I've already tried it, and it doesn't help. I believe the problem is that sqlldr tries to figure out where each record is delimited before it parses out the field. So, any field-level trimming depends on sqlldr first determining that the cr/lf is actually part of that record, and not an indication of the start of a new record (and it's doing the latter right now). Fwiw, Python's csv parser will handle this type of record just fine.
    regards.

  • Confused about CLASSPATH and how java handles import statements...

    Hello,
    I must admit I don't get it. I read the articles about setting CLASSPATH etc. but I still wonder:
    If you use an import statement, what does the compiler do? I.e. where does it look for the specified classes? I find it confusing because I see in different locations different .jar files:
    C:\jdk1.3.1_03\lib\dt.jar
    C:\jdk1.3.1_03\lib\htmlconvertor.jar
    C:\jdk1.3.1_03\lib\tools.jar
    and also
    C:\jdk1.3.1_03\jre\lib\i18n.jar
    C:\jdk1.3.1_03\jre\lib\rt.jar
    C:\jdk1.3.1_03\jre\lib\jaws.jar
    C:\jdk1.3.1_03\jre\lib\sunrassign.jar
    Can someone explain me what the purpose is of these files?
    And why do I have the same contents in
    C:\Program Files\JavaSoft\JRE\1.3.1_03\lib
    and in
    C:\jdk1.3.1_03\jre\lib
    Why is that?
    Thanks for answering my questions!
    -mike

    Thanx for the answers, but I still wonder, everyone
    here says I need to set the classpath, but I don't.Probably because your classes are already in the class path. The compiler/jvm also look for classes by themselves not just in jar files, when just a directory is supplied in the class path. And a period (".") is a valid directory.
    Programs importing different classes compile with no
    problem. So what's up with that?
    Presumably you are referring to your own code - because they are in the class path.
    Second, I still don't understand why the runtime needs
    the .jar files. The runtime uses classes, like String, that have to come from somewhere.
    This would also mean that end-users
    need to set the classpath to the .jar files in their
    JRE directory to be able to run programs that import
    classes from these .jars. But this is not true, right?No it is true. The end-users will have to set the class path. There are variations on this which make it seem like no class path is set. For instance applets in a browser are java but the end-user does not need to set a class path. That is because the browser knows how to download classes/jars and how to set it up so it uses them. (Actually it uses a class loader, but that is probably more information that you need.)
    Because if I make some nice classes myself and import
    them, how can I expect my end-user to install these
    classes and make a classpath for them?That would be between you and you end-user.
    First installation is not part of java. For installation you will have to find something outside of java to accomplish the goal.
    Additionally how the class path gets set is OS specific. Java does not deal with that. You will also have to find some way to deal with this (most likely part of the installation.)
    There are also variations on this. For example the browser example I gave above. Or using the ext directory. Or creating an executable jar. Or simply setting the class path.
    In my understanding it should only be needed in the JDK, not
    in the JRE. True or am I mistaken?Mistaken. The class path is needed in the JRE as well. You will need to set it.

  • The BIG thread of how to handle import/export 2011-12-06

    I have used Captivate since its birth!
    There have always been some issues with import/export.
    I am now using version 5.0.1.625 and still suffer from import/export problems. Actually those problems drive me crazy!
    I want this community to rise and demand some changes when it comes to big scale usability.
    First demand,
    One should be able to export captions from several captivate files at the same time, There should be a possibility to "batch export" a whole folder with subfolders of files.
    Second demand,
    Use common standards and let us choose among standards, in this case I am talking about the XML that is almost right.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/871079
    Who?, that works with translation companies uses word today? And even if one did, then there still should be a batch function to export everything at the same time.
    Let us talk about the word "translation"... how come it exports the colour and style... we use both white and black captions which gives black and white text
    Imagine white text on white background in word.
    Please stand with me and demand an update of the import/export function or a batch tool, by writing a message to the captivate team here.
    // Daniel

    The proper place to ask for these things is in the Bug/Enhancement form that Adobe provides on this forum: https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform&product=5
    If you have a vision for how you'd like Captivate to work, that where you need to lay it all out.
    ...and a word to the wise...I would avoid the word "demand".  It's not going to get you anywhere but could even backfire on you.

  • VBA Call WebServices: How to handle a returned empty complex array?

    Hi,
        These days I got a task to call a web service by VBA in Excel, but faced the following two problems about empty complex array.
    <b>1. When the returned value of a web service contains empty array, it crashed with "SoapMapper: array dimensions do not match definition"</b>
        Another guy faced the same question with me, detail at http://www.topxml.com/SOAPToolkit/rn-246726_SoapMapper-array-dimensions-do-not-match-definition.aspx
    <b>2. When the input parameter contains empty array, it crashed with "Operation Not Supported"</b>
    Dim arrayStudent() As Student
    Call webservice.DoThings( arrayStudent )

    Hello,
    we have faced the same Problem in our PHP / Typo3 solution. We used this switch:
    $object_array = array();
    if (is_object($salesorders->SALES_ORDERS_HEAD->item)) {
         $object_array[] = $salesorders->SALES_ORDERS_HEAD->item;
    } else {

  • How to Handle NET, Return Phone - Verizon Wireless Store vs. Wireless Zone

    Background:
    My wife needed a new phone and we had available a NET credit on the her number for a new phone we were currently on a Month-to-Month since the original contract was up. She chose a Samsung Reality phone. We dropped one line of the Family plan (from 4 to 3 lines) because we would now be paying 9.99 monthly for data plan required on the new line and the secondary line wasn't being used anyway. New 1400 Family plan + 9.99 monthly data plan is activated with corporate discount.
    My wife has been using the Reality and doesn't like the touch wizard features and the way the phone answers the call as she's pulling it out of her pocket (among other things). We are within 20 days of the original purchase/upgrade and went back to the VZ store to return for an LG Chocolate Touch - which my wife like's better. It was a Friday - clerk says no phones in stock and if he orders it will be Tues/Wed before he can get the phone. We decide to come back the next week (Tues). Clerk let's us know the LG Chocolate is not available within 500 mile radius (he thinks it's being discontinued). My wife does not like the other available phones and/or the 29.99 data plan requirements on some phones. Now What!
    Her brother contacts his preferred provider - Wireless Zone. They say they have the LG Chocolate in-stock and can make the switch.
    Now I'm concerned about the return of the original upgrade phone to VZ store and then being able to get the NET discount on the LG Chocolate (after getting credit from VZ store - $35 service charge).
    Can the authorized reseller apply a NET if the original upgrade phone is returned and roll the contract on the corporate discount?
    Thanks for any help!

    That would depend on the policies of the authorized reseller. Some honor the NE2, some do not. When you use an authorized reseller, you are actually signing TWO contracts, and Verizon's is secondary to the reseller's - read everything carefully so you know what the rules are and what your options are.

  • How to handle error msgs in one system which are available only in another?

    Hi Experts,
        I have two SAP systems A and B. An ABAP program in system A calls Function module in System B.
        System B returns any error with message id, class and variables in the event of any invalid data.
        How to handle this returned error message in system A when the message class exists only in system B.
        One way is to create a copy of this message class along with all the messages in system A.
        But the function module in system B calls many BAPIs which in turn may return messages from many different message classes. So making a copy of so many message classes in System A means creating so many custom objects.
       Is there any better way to handle this without creating the message classes in System A?
    Thanks & Regards
    Gopal
    Edited by: gopalkrishna baliga on Apr 27, 2010 6:28 AM

    Hi Gopal,
        As per my understanding your function module can retrun any number of error messages and it may have varied descriptions.It would be difficult to handle each of these error individually.
    One of the methods can be..use the raise exception otion whenever any error is encountered if you want to do in the shortedt way.
    you can catch all th set of error in soem exceptions and then use the same.
    Handling each error individually in the source system would be difficult if these errors do not exisit in the source system at all.

  • How do I handle NULL returns from prepared statement?

    Thanks in advance to all those who respond. As a beginner with Java/JSP/JDBC, I need all the help I can get!
    Here's the problem...
    I'm using a prepared statement in JSP to query a MySQL database.
    If there is a value to return, everything works properly.
    If the query returns a NULL (empty set) value, I get the following error:
    javax.servlet.ServletException: Before start of result set
    Here's the code (no negative comments please...I know I'm violating some conventions! I'll restructure it later. Right now I just need help with handling the NULL case):
    <%
    Driver DriverAppt = (Driver)Class.forName(MM_test_DRIVER).newInstance();
    Connection ConnAppt = DriverManager.getConnection(MM_test_STRING,MM_test_USERNAME,MM_test_PASSWORD);PreparedStatement StatementAppt = ConnAppt.prepareStatement("SELECT lastname FROM appts_pid1 WHERE user_id = " + Recordset1__MMColParam + " AND year = " + yy + " AND month = '" + months[mm] + "' AND date = " + dates[dd] + " AND appttime = '16:15:00'");
    ResultSet Appt = StatementAppt.executeQuery();
    boolean Appt_isEmpty = !Appt.first();
    boolean Appt_hasData = !Appt_isEmpty;
    Object Appt_data;
    int Appt_numRows = 0;
    %>
    Thanks for the help!!!

    I think I have a better handle on what's occurring here. To cut to the heart of the problem, I'm going to give a very simple example that illustrates what type of error handling I need.
    HERE'S THE EXAMPLE:
    Let's say that I have a database of users. There are only two columns in the database: user_id and lastname. There are only 2 users, user_id "1" has lastname "Jones" and user_id "2" has lastname "Smith".
    I built a very simple web interface that let's a user enter a number to see if there's a lastname associated with that record. The user has no way of knowing if the user_id exists or not, so they may or may not enter a valid number.
    If the user enters a valid user_id (in this case "1" or "2"), then the correct lastname is displayed. If the user enters an invalid user_id (in this case, anything other than "1" or "2") then I get the same "Before start of result set" error that I'm getting in my real application.
    So, the question is: WHERE IN THIS CODE WOULD I HANDLE THE RETURN OF AN EMPTY SET?
    The goal here is to have the sentence say "The user's lastname is .", basically returning null. If there has to be a value, then have the last sentence say "The user's lastname is unknown."
    If you can solve this simple example, you'll have also solved the problem with my main application!!!! :-)
    Here's the example code:
    <%@ page contentType="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" language="java" import="java.sql.*" errorPage="" %>
    <%@ include file="Connections/example.jsp" %>
    <%
    String Recordset1__MMColParam = "1";
    if (request.getParameter("user_id") !=null) {Recordset1__MMColParam = (String)request.getParameter("user_id");}
    %>
    <%
    Driver DriverRecordset1 = (Driver)Class.forName(MM_example_DRIVER).newInstance();
    Connection ConnRecordset1 = DriverManager.getConnection(MM_example_STRING,MM_example_USERNAME,MM_example_PASSWORD);
    PreparedStatement StatementRecordset1 = ConnRecordset1.prepareStatement("SELECT * FROM test_table WHERE user_id = " + Recordset1__MMColParam + "");
    ResultSet Recordset1 = StatementRecordset1.executeQuery();
    boolean Recordset1_isEmpty = !Recordset1.next();
    boolean Recordset1_hasData = !Recordset1_isEmpty;
    Object Recordset1_data;
    int Recordset1_numRows = 0;
    %>
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>Untitled Document</title>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
    </head>
    <body>
    <form action="test.jsp" method="get" enctype="application/x-www-form-urlencoded" name="form1" target="_self">
    <p> Submit a user id and a lastname will be displayed.</p>
    <p>
    <input type="text" name="user_id">
    <input type="submit" name="" value="Submit">
    </p>
    </form>
    <p>The User's lastname is <%=(((Recordset1_data = Recordset1.getObject("lastname"))==null || Recordset1.wasNull())?"":Recordset1_data)%>.</p>
    </body>
    </html>
    <%
    Recordset1.close();
    StatementRecordset1.close();
    ConnRecordset1.close();
    %>

    Step 1: Sales Document Type
    IMG > Sales and Distribution > Sales > Sales Documents >
    Sales Document Header:
    1. Sales Document Type:The sales document types represent the different business transactions, such as Inquiry, Quotation, Sales Order, etc. To create new sales order type, always copy as with reference to similar sales order. If possible use standard sales order.
    2. Define Number Ranges For Sales Documents: Maintain number range with discussion with core team.
    3. Assign Sales Area To Sales Document Types:
    A. Combine sales organizations / Combine distribution channels / Combine divisions: Ensure to maintain these, else Sales Order creation will give error.
    B. Assign sales order types permitted for sales areas: Assign only required Sales Order Types to required Sales Area. This will minimize selection of Sales Order Type as per sales area.
    Sales Document Item:
    1. Define Item Categories: If possible use Standard Item Category. Incase if required to create new, copy as from standard & maintain New. (Item Category TAD is used for order related billing & in Material Master Item Category group is LEIS)
    2. Assign Item Categories: If possible, use standard. Formula for deriving item category: Sales Document Type + Item Category Group + Usage + Higher Level Item Category = Item Category
    Schedule Line:
    1. Define Schedule Line Categories: If possible use Standard Schedule Lines. Incase if required to create new, copy as from standard & maintain New.
    2. Assign Schedule Line Categories: If possible, use standard. Formula for deriving Schedule Line: Item Category + MRP Type / No MRP Type.
    Step 2:
    IMG > Sales and Distribution > Billing >
    1. Define Billing Types: If possible use Standard Billing Type. Incase if required to create new, copy as from standard & maintain New.
    2. Define Number Range For Billing Documents: Ensure to maintain number range.
    3. Maintain Copying Control For Billing Documents: Maintain relevant copy controls such as Sales Order to Billing, Deliver to Billing, etc.
    Note: Ensure that Copy Control settings are done
    Sales Order to Billing (OR --> F1): VTFA
    Billing to Sales Order (F2 --> RE): VTAF
    The configuration differs from scenario to scenario & requirement of the client.

  • Who know how to handle pl/sql table return from stored procedure calling from jsp

    I have some stored procedure which return pl/sql table (index by table), It is look like an array. how jdbc handle this?
    CallableStatement cs = con.prepareCall("EXECUTE bill.getcountry(?,?)");
    cs.setInt(1, cid);
    cs.registerOutParameter(2, java.sql.Types.VARCHAR);// ARRAY?
    ResultSet rs = cs.executeQuery();
    Array array = (Array) rs.getObject (1);
    ResultSet array_rset = array.getResultSet ();

    Not that familiar with the OCI (Oracle Call Interface), but I think this call will be problematic - the OCI deals with SQL data types and not with PL/SQL structures.
    The OCI has since Oracle 8i sported an object call interface (see OCI Runtime Environment for Objects for details).
    This allows you to use the CREATE TYPE command to create advance user data types - and these are supported by the SQL engine, PL/SQL engine and external languages via the OCI.
    So you need to have a look at the Perl-DBI documentation to see how it supports Oracle object types and consider using these. As for internal PL/SQL data structures. These are not supported by the SQL engine and I would expect limited or no support in the OCI for these. Anyway, using SQL data types makes a lot more sense ito flexibility and transparency across languages and environments.
