How to have some top level menu items not be hyperlinks

I have a navigation band where 5 of the 6 top level items need to NOT be hyperlinks but simply "category titles" that you mouseover to display the submenu - which are the links to web pages.
An example of this is on the Amazon.com home page - the items under "Shop All Departments" has categories that are not clickable, but when you mouseover display the clickable submenu.
Is it possible to customize some but not all of the top menu items and how?
What do I need to modify in the CSS so that the top "category title" looks/behave the submenu (same font color/bgcolor changes) but no active hyperlink?

Here is a link to my pagewhere I am testing the navigation. Currently there is only this one page and I have <a href="#"> for the links.
The only menu item that should be clickable in the top level is "Contact"
Everything in the second and third level (Events > Research >...) needs to be clickable
Everything is working as I want except that "Research" needs to be clickable
- and I would like to have the clickable item text be underline when in the hover state but I want to get the base navigation working first
The closest matching code I found in the CSS is:
#MenuBar1 li .MenuBarItemSubmenu,
#MenuBar1 li ul li .MenuBarItemSubmenu {
cursor: default;
If I remove this, all the top level items become clickable. Let me know if there is other information you need. I super appreciate your help with this!

Example case: I'm designing a Muse site which is basically a portfolio of our work. We design books, doing page layout and covers. We have numerous book categories and sub categories which I put in a horizontal menu. When a given top level category menu item doesn't have a submenu, it is a hyperlink and it displays active state when the browser displays its linked page. But when a given page is displayed from a submenu link, its top level menu item does NOT display active state. I think it should.
For example, we have a "Nostalgia" category which has "Film" and "TV" subcategories. Because the menu item, "Nostalgia" has a submenu containing "Film" and "TV", the label "Nostalgia" is not a hyperlink. The submenu attached to it has the two hyperlinked items "Film" and "TV". When the browser is displaying either linked page, the submenu is hidden. So it would be nice if the top level item, "Nostalgia" would display in an active state.

How to add a top level menu to TestStand Sequence Editor

Am unable to add a new top level menu item like File, Edit, Tools, Windows in Sequence Editor. Is it possible to add the same? Can anyone share code snippet to use TestStand API so that a new menu is created?

Hello Mrm,
Adding a new menu is not going to be possible since the source code of the Sequence Editor is not accessible. However, you do have a few options:
1) Add a new toolbar
2) Create and entry point (configuration or execution) that will show in one of the existing menus. Here is a KnowledgeBase article that describes this more.
3) Customize the right click context menus.
4) Build your own UI or customize one of the shipping UI's (since you have access to that source code).
What is the overall goal in doing this? Let me know so I can assist you further if needed.

My user defined menu items not shown up in Main Menu

Hi,
I have some my own menu items need to add into Main Menu list, it works fine but only issue is the screen flash lot. Since all the menu items are in the form called "Main Menu" form then I tried to use oForm.Freeze(true) and oForm.Freeze(false) before and after adding menu items. Now the weird thing is though the screen doesn't flash but i can't see the new added menu items in the Main Menu form. But I can see them under the system menu Modules menu. Any idea?

Top navigation menu items should open in new tab

In a share point 2013 site, i have created top navigation using term set from managed meta data. some of the menu items navigate the user with in the site whereas some other menu items will navigate to the external sites. My requirement is I want to open
external links in new tab and internal links in same tab itself.

Assuming that internal URL are relative and external urls are absolute, you can use a jQuery script to add target="_blank" attribute to the links.

If you take a look under the location where the application was deployed, you should find a file with the name of your interface (or class) and the extension .wsdl.
If there is already a file of that name, we do not try to re-generate it. If this file is not a valid XML file, then it will explain the error message you are seing.
Another reason for this error is when the code generation fail silently. It can occurs in some rare case, when you have started oc4j using a JRE instead of JDK (without javac).

does anybody know how to create a link to a top-level navigation item from an jsp iView? the idea is similar to Home-page and area-page concept in the new ESS with WebDynpro. From the home-page, users can navigate direct to an item which is displayed in the top-level navigation. fyi, we are on EP6.

How to make the spacing between menu items equal with varied menu item sizes

If the title isn't clear, what I mean is how do you make the space between each of the items in a horizontal the same when some of the menu items are up to double the size of others. Currently I am using the margin property and the space between the larger items is smaller than between the smaller items.

Hi,
I am trying to send a XML file to a web browser from a servlet. I read the contents of the XML file into a string and I am sending it to the brower. Before I do this I set the 'Content-type' header of the httpResponse to "application/xml" . Embedded in the XML file is an xml-stylesheet elemetn indicating which *.xsl stylesheet to use to parse the XML content.
I get the following error:
The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.

Now, if I take the stylesheet element out of the XML string I sent, then the browser stores the content into and *.xml file. I manually run the "xml-to-xsl " stylesheet mentioned in the error output above, and there is no problem, the xml content gets successfully transformed in a viewable HTML .
It is only when I embed the "stylesheet" element into the XML content that I get this error.
So the browser is receiveing valid XML.
I am not sure if the above error is complaining about the XML content I send or the stylesshet .
Does anyone have an idea of what am I doing wrong?

Well, if one more character had been deleted from that message then you would have a problem. But as it is, the error message says there's an error processing a resouce whose name ends with "xml-to-html.xs" followed by something. That would be the stylesheet if I'm not mistaken. Most likely the browser can't find it at the URL mentioned in the error message.

How to un-checked the sub-menu items in the active document?

Can anybody let me know, how to make the "checked" sub-menu items in "Window" menu to "un-checked" through scripting. More clearly, i need to open a document alone without showing the tools bars, Document info, etc. Kindly help me the possiblities via scripting(vbscript / javascript). I am using illustrator cs3.

With vb you could call an action that changes the workspace. I do this with AppleScript but its only any use for in-house stuff where I know the actions and workspaces are saved.

Hi, I am trying to generate an XML. Below is a sample code from my function. The function generates a 0 byte file which when I try to open gives me 'xml document must have a top level element' error. Any ideas?
