How to help GC to free images created via FilteredImageSource

Hello,
I use several RGB Filters to process input image. I would like to help to GC to free allocated resources(even I remove all pointers to this object ), but I cannot use Image.getGraphics().dispose() for images created via FilteredImageSource(it raises an exception).
When I open a new dialog with simple created({ Image im = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().createImage(new FilteredImageSource(JPG, ...)) }) huge image(JPEG 2MB) and I close this dialog, the memory (allocated by this image)is still used till I close the application. System.gc() doesn't help and I am really sure that i have no pointers to the image.

Are you looking at the memory usage in the taskmanager or something? Java doesn't release memory it claims until the JVM shuts down.

My problem is that I need to return this image to the client, so that his browser could display it.
Unfortunately I don't know exactly how to proceed.
I've seen it's possible to define result type for Struts 2 actions through xml config file, but I don't what I need to write into che action class.
Could you help me with this topic?

How do I download my free U2 album via iCloud?

I have an iCloud account and iTunes tells me I have the free U2 album waiting to be downloaded to my MacBook via the iCloud icon.
Just one problem, I cannot see the iCloud icon anywhere so it only allows me to listen to snippets of the album. Can you help me?

In iTunes open the iTunes Store.
Sign into your account from the "Store" menu.
Use the "Quick Links" section at the right side of the iTunes Store panel. Click the "Purchased" link there. That should take you to a page where you can download the album.

But this question was posted in the WebHelp forum category, so one might assume that you are producing WebHelp output.
So the question we ask here is this:
What *IS* the output type you are creating? WebHelp? Microsoft HTML Help? FlashHelp?

How can I convert an image created in Photoshop into a format that Java's ImageIO library will take?

Hi all,
I've been trying to write an image resize tool to use the Lancoz resample algorithm to resize images to a high standard in Java. The library with the algorithm/filter in it is mortennobel's image scaling library and it takes a buffered image as an input and returns the resized image as desired. However the trouble I’m having is that the ImageIO library in Java, a standard library, which converts images given to its read method to buffered images doesn't accept certain images created in Photoshop and so it throws an exception. My library needs to be fully automated to process possible thousands of images at a time and so manually converting them by resaving them as JPEG's is really feasibly. Is there some way I can convert these images from Adobes Exif format to standard JFIF format? I've tried simple inserting the APP0 marker from a JFIF image in-between the SOI and APP1 marker but the ImageIO library still failed.
The above image is a screenshot of the binary in hex of one of the images that cause an Invalid Format exception when passed to ImageIO.
Any help you could offer me with this would be much appreciated.

The image scaling library does have a BiCubicFilter in it so I'll experiment around with them and see what happens. As for the imageIO library I think it accepts Exif image types, but still for some reason it just doesn't like Adobe Photoshop types. Maybe its the colour map it doesn't like I just can't seem to work out what's wrong which is slightly frustrating but looking round to see if I can find an answer

On windows movie maker you could just select "fit to music" but this program isnt as easy to figure out! Any help?

Double-click on the still image in the project timeline to open the Inspector. In the Inspector, adjust the duration by typing in a new duration to match the length of your music. I think the limit for a still image is 10 minutes. If you need more than this, simply drag the image into the timeline again then adjust its duration. The two images will play seamlessly (no gap will be visible).

You can achieve more precision when entering durations by changing a preference in the menu item iMovie Preferences. Check (tick) the preference for Show Time As HH:MM:SS:frames. This will enable you to enter the duration of stills down to the frame level, rather than full seconds (NTSC is 30 frames per second; PAL is 25 fps). When entering times, type a colon between each time segment, such as 2:50:15, which represents 2 minutes 50 seconds and 15 frames. For 5 seconds 20 frames you would enter 5:20 and so forth.
Note that the music will only run to the length of the video in the timeline (in your case, the still images). So, after increasing the stills duration you will need to drag the end of the music track as far as required. The stills can be dragged inwards to reduce the duration if necessary.

Thanks but I have no "Put Back" option when right-clicking. When I attempt to open a photo in iPhoto I receive a white exclamation point on a black background. I have restarted my PC since first encountering this problem but have not emptied trash though i appear to be out of memory. Also, iphoto library shows size as 17GB however, each photo shows 0KB. When i attempt to open a photo i receive message "Item <photo filename> is used by Mac OS X and cannot be opened." I can see the images when scrolling in iPhoto but they disappear when the screen is still. THANKS!
