How to highlight portion of Image

Hi
I have a image. i want to highlight the portion of an image. I have the start pixel value, end pixel value and height and width.
I want to highlight the particular area by yellow color and color should be transparent so that highlighted portion can be seen.
What would be the approach.
I tried it with coloring the particular pixel value but i couldnt achieve transparency.
Please provide me piece of code
Any help would be highly appreciated.
thanks

All your tiff images are black and white. Thus, they can't be highlighted since the highlight will result in a color that's not black or white. This problem will extend to all palette based images (ones with an IndexColorModel).
The solution is to turn the palette image into a full RGB one, which you did by using an intermediate image.
Any improvement on this.1) You don't need an intermediate image if ColorModel#getPixelSize() returns >= 24. This will mostly be a memory/garbage collection improvement.
2) You don't need to use TYPE_INT_ARGB for the intermediate image if the original image doesn't have and alpha channel. Instead you can use TYPE_3BYTE_BGR. Again, this would be a memory improvement and the file size may be less since there's no alpha channel.
3) The TIFImageWriter supports several compression schemes. Some of the compression schemes (LZW, JPEG, DEFLATE) offer better file sizes then the default one. When you do a straight call to,
ImageIO.write(newImage, "tif", new File("D:/DocHighlighting/Out.TIF"));you're using the default compression scheme. LZW will offer a smaller file size and the tiff file will be just as portable. JPEG will offer the smallest file size, but more image editing programs will have a trouble opening it and it's a lossy compression. I think DEFLATE is even less portable than JPEG, but it's a lossless compression and will offer a smaller file size than LZW.
Although i tried this way and it worked but new image size is almost 14612KB and original image size was 289KBThat's because it went from black and white (with a specialized black/white compression) to a full colored image. Such is the consequence of introducing more colors. You can decrease the file size a bit by changing the compression type and not introducing an alpha channel if not needed, but for the most part the file size will still be much larger then the black and white one.
If you're really ambitious, you can create an IndexColorModel with 4 colors - black, white, black under highlighting, and white under highlighting - and use that as the color model for your black/white-highlighted images. Then the TIFFImageWriter may very well save the image as palette based, resulting in a significant decrease in the file size.

  • Acrobat 9 - How to highlight portions of an image?

As my screen name suggests, I am not well versed in Acrobat 9.  I am attempting to highlight areas of an application that we send out to our students.  Apparantly the portion of the application in the PDF that I am attempting to highlight is part of an image and not text.  Other text portions of the PDF can be highlighted with the highlighting tool, just not the image.  Does anyone have any ideas?  Thanks in advance for your help!

You can try one of the tools, like Rectangle Tool, Polygon Tool.

If the App supports that, it would be in the Print dialog. Otherwise, copy and paste the section into something else to print.
The OS doesn’t render pages to print, the App does. The App must support rendering the selection.
You can create an Automator workflow that automates the copy/paste/print/quit functions.
Just create an new Automator Service and make it look like this:
The text of the Applescript is this:
    on run {input, parameters}
         tell application “TextEdit"
              print document of front window
close document of front window without saving
              quit
         end tell
         return input
    end run

I am very curious as to what you are trying to do. In a nutshell, you need to first select the part of the image that you want to adjust (via the lasso tool, etc.), then press Command/Control + T to enable rotation/scaling. If you're adjusting part of an image you will most likely need to fill in some areas after doing so.

When I drag the item off of the trifold that I am creating, it just disappears but I still want to use it.  I just need to move it out of the way to modify other portions of the document.

Add another page below the current one to use as a storage area. You can't use the grey area around the page for storing items you want to use later.
Go to the Pages Menu>Provide Pages Feedback if you would like to request this feature be added in future versions.

    Hi there,
Are you referring to the text, the color effect, or both?
Adding type is very easy - just grab the Type Tool from the tool bar. The article linked above provides some great tips for editing type in Photoshop.
As is the case with many "how to's" for Photoshop, there are several ways to acheive the colorized effect like the one applied to image you linked to. One method is to use Adjustment Layers, which I have outlined below.
    1. With your image layer active (it will be highlighted in blue in your Layers panel, as shown below), create a selection of the area you'd like to colorize. I'm using the Polygonal Lasso Tool to create a diagonal selection - to do so, I held down the Shift key on my keyboard as a created my diagonal lines. This might take a bit of practice, but you'll get the hang of it quickly.
    2. Then, in your Adjustments panel (if you don't see it, go to Window > Adjustments), click on the Curves adjustment layer, as highlighted below. Now you can play around with the curves to get the effect you'd like. (Here's a quick guide on using the Curve tool)
    3. To select the other areas of your image, command (Mac) / control (PC) click on the adjustment layer thumbnail (highlighted below). Then, go to Select > Inverse.
    4. Now we want to deselect part of our selection. Grab the Quick Selection Tool from the toolbar and set it to Subract from selection. Then, simply drag the selection brush over the area you want to deselect. In my case, I only want to have the upper-left corner of my image selected.
    5. After you have your selection, click on the image layer and add a Curves adjustment layer like before.
    6. Repeat steps 3-5 for the other corner of your image and you should end up with something like this:
The nice thing about using adjustment layers is that you can always change them - just double click on the Adjustment layer thumbnail (highlighted in step 3).
Alternatively, you can select areas of your image and fill the selections with flat colors on separate layers. You can then go in a change the Blend Mode and Opacity for each layer.
Feel free to reply with any questions!

Consider adding the delete symbol to the Finder window tool bar.  This way you can highlight all the photos you want to delete at the same time then hit the "delete" symbol.
Open a Finder window/View/Customize Toolbar - follow the directions in the customized pop down window.

  • How can I save my images like a "wedding photographer" does?

    I have a Pixma PRO-100. . . with a Windows 8.1 PC. . . and printing through Adobe Photoshop Elements 11.
I just printed some wedding pictures of my daughter - which I got from the "wedding photographer"... when I printed them - they were an exact match to what I saw on my screen (which I've calibrated)... and dead on crisp, great quality.
I'm wondering what a wedding photographer does to their images to make them so "solid" in printing.  How do they save them?
when I print something from a my files, (Raw, NEF, or JPEG's) - there always seems to be a color or quality problem? Never a match.  It takes several adjustments and print samples before I get what I want.
Is the ICC Profile a problem - or How can I save my images like a wedding photog does?  So they print exact?

    " ... (Raw, NEF, or JPEG's) ... "
I suspect there are some minor differences you are not seeing and/or noticing on screen.  But right off, no real wedding photographer will shoot in anything except RAW.  You should be using RAW, only, too.  The RAW file to start with has way more info in it than any jpeg does.
Next I would bet your wedding photographer does some tweaking to highlights and shadows, plus s ome other stuff that you are not.  In other words he is getting the photos ready for printing. Remember printing on paper and "printing for on screen" is two different things.

How can I make an image appear partially in front and partially behind another layer in Adobe Illustrator?

Put the image behind the layer (at the back of it or on a layer below). With it still selected, Copy.
Now Paste in Front (Ctrl+F). Depending on your Paste Remembers Layers setting, you may have to bring the newly pasted copy to the front, or to the upper layer.
Draw a shape over the image to define the portion of it you want to appear "in front."
With the shape and the image selected, clip the image using the shape. (Object > Clipping Mask > Make)

there red one shows the break and green show how it should be.
Any suggestion or help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think this is a problem of String manipulation, but rather of HTML/Rendering.
Many scripts render some characters differently based on other characters nearby (it also happens in latin scripts, but less noticably, see ligatures).
The problem seems to be that when you separate the two characters (for example with a <b> tag), then the rendering engine won't know that it should use a ligature.
Unfortunately I don't know how to highlight parts of the word in this case, you'll probably need to highlight the full word in this case.

If this sort of thing is not covered on this forum please direct me to an off site forum that would help me with this graphics question

Trial and error, putting both the reference image and your new experimental image up side by side, is the only way I know.  I'd probably use the Info panel as well, to see that I'm getting the same or very similar color numbers from the new drop shadow.
You can probably use the Magic Wand set to a very low tolerance value to select and copy the light colored object, then make a new document with a white background, paste in the copied object, then start experimenting with drop shadow.  Alternatively you could just redraw a portion of it.

Convert it to the much more web-friendly png format.

  • How do I use copyprofile, image manager and create a wim file to Sysprep a reference Windows 8 computer.

Im trying to deploy a reference machine (configured) to other machines (exact or close image) with different hardware.
I have successfully used sysprep in out of the box, generalise, shutdown mode although i havent tried to deploy this to another device.  Unfortunately it doesnt copy the profile to default.
I understand that I have to create an answer file using image manager based on that image, save it to a usb drive and attach this in the sysprep command line when sysprepping it.
My problem is I dont know how to easily capture an image of windows 8 into a wim file so that i can add this into image manager to create a answer file.  Im also not sure what I have to do in image manager, is it a simple matter of creating and saving
the answer file or do i have to configure it to copy the profile specifically (theres only one account anyhow).
I also want to know if i have to attach the drivers or are all the standard drivers put into the sysprep image as standard.  I would like the machine to be an exactly replica, same as doing a clone (but with the drivers for the new machine installed
so it will boot) same as doing a clone and then repair? If thats possible.
Any specific instructions on this would be helpful.  I have read the microsft links but they are somewhat confusing.

I know this is a very late response but I thought I'd post for others who search.
The easiest way to create the .wim file is via WinPE, this guy's two YouTube videos explain the entire process in detail -
Windows 8 ADK Part 1: Capture an OS image - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJ8zKX_8E9w
Windows 8 ADK Part 2: Windows Image Deployment - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHIvoqSw_FI
Here's a quick rundown from my notes:
    WINPE
Create WinPE via imaging tools command prompt
    copype amd64 c:\winpe
    makewinpemedia /iso "c:\winpe" "c:\winpe\winpe64.iso"
    UNATTEND
    Open Windows System Image Manager
    Configure unattend.xml
    Save unattend.xml to sysprep folder
Create script and save it to sysprep folder to launch sysprep with unattend
    @echo off
    cd C:\Windows\System32\sysprep
    Sysprep /oob /generalize /unattend:C:\Windows\System32\sysprep\unattend.xml
    SYSPREP
    C:\Windows\System32\Sysprep
    Run as administrator
    OOBE/Generalize
    Shutdown
    CONFIGURATION of WINPE
Set IP - netsh int ip set address "Local Area Connection" static 192.168.1.2 255.255.255.0 192.168.1.1
Set DNS - netsh int ip set dns name = "Local Area Connection" source = static addr = 192.168.1.4 validate = no
Map Network Name - net use z:
    \\WindowsADK\reflex\images password /USER:domain.local\username
    DISKPART
    diskpart
    list disk
    select disk zero
    list partition
select partition 2 (OS partition #)
Assign letter=S (assigns drive letter to partition)
    Exit
    DISM
    dism /capture-image /imagefile:z:\image.wim /capturedir:s:\ /name:"Windows 8.1 Custom"
Verify image is saved in the image share (z:)
