How to implement workflow without UWL in portal?

Hi,
Our project has a requirement where we have to implement workflow. We need to display notifications and workitems(approve or reject) in the enterprise portal. The problem is that the client says we cannot use UWL as its their policy.
My question is whether it is possible to create a workflow and execute the tasks in the portal without UWL. Is there any alternative like connectors or third party tools etc? please help asap

Hi Gokul,
I had faced the same issue in my project.
In case you aren't able to use UWL you could directly call the transaction associated with SBWP(Sap Business WorkPlace) in the portal by calling the link associated with transaction SBWP.
for example in my case instead of Portal I had to work in BSP wherein I used this method by directly calling the link associated with SBWP.
the link as was used by me is:-
http://SAP Servername.com:8001/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui/!?sap-client=100&sap-user=sapuserid&sap-password=saplogin password&~transaction=sbwp
please note that you need change in the server name after Http:// in my case the server name was blrkecisbank.ad.infosys.com in your case it will be different. so try it out from your end and let me know whether you were able to get results.

Hello,
There might be some mismatch of attributes between BSP workflow and UWL configuration.Please check the UWL configuration file and check the display attribute name. Please check UWL configuration guide for more details

How to invoke Workflow and UWL through Webdynpro for Java

In my Development Component there are three applications .The requirement is that the data will flow between one application to another only through workflow in
UWL.
Can anybody help me out as to how to invoke workflow programatically from Webdynpro for Java .
After data goes from one application to workflow UWL, how the second application will work on it . If possible please send me the links of some tutorials .
I searched in Webdynpro Tutorials site but there are no tutorials available there .

Implementing Workflow without HR module

Hi everybody!
I have to implement workflow in a company there is implementing SAP now. The problem is that the company will not install HR module.
The question is:
- How can I work with organizacional structure in the workflow?
I never attended a implementation of workflow before, only some developments e maintenace, what are the main steps to have a sucess implementation? With or Without HR

Create an approver table and assign the user ids of various approvers to it
Later on use this table to determine who the approver is.
Ex:
If suppose you have created a workflow for release of parked doc and it shud first go to Vp , then to Chairman and then to MD.
So create a table with company code , fiscal year , level , amount and user id.
1000 2009 1 amount < 1000 USabcd(user id of chairman)
1000 2009 2 amount >1001 and amount <2000 usabcdef(user id of VP)

How to implement a java application in Portal

I was asked if it is possible to implement a java (not a web application / not java web dynpro) to implement into the portal. Is this possible with something like the java web start? Is someone using something like that in the real world?

Yes, it is possible to integrate Java applets into portal. Have a look at XML Form Buider or SAP Management console (http://portalhost.domain:5xx13).

How can i start webdynpro ABAP application from workflow without portal?
Workflow and webdynpro ABAP are located on the same system.
I assume it must be possible without transaction SWFVISU.

First you need to define a external service then you have to generate a task from this external service and then you need to include this task id in you workflow for a ACTIVITY step then this step can be either background or can be assigned to any agent

I want to implement the new Search page for Workflow Notifications. Search page containing Company, Paygroup, Source, Initiator, Supplier Name, From date & To date fields. These fields(Poplist & Calendar) are getting the values from different tables and these fields are not in WF_NOTIFICATIONS table only Initiator & dates are there. After selecting the values in all fields or one field based upon these values I want to display the all Workflow Notifications ( Those are satisfy the search criteria only not all ) in Advance Worklist Table RN in the Notifications page. Is it possible to create the Search page based upon the above scenario if Yes Let me know how to implement this search page for Workflow. Page was designed but how to get the sortlisted Notifications and how to pass these values to next page?

Hi Guru,
I crete the Search page having 5 poplists and select the values from dropdown list and click GO button it serch the records and displays that records in ResultsTable in same page.
My case, Search page is running fine if I select the values and click GO button page is refreshed without errors but I am unable to displays the records in ResultsTable.
What I am missing?

Hi Shanthakumar,
The "GoogleSearch.WSDL" is no longer available as google has replaced it with the new AJAX based searching and they have eventually removed it from public use as well from 7th September 2009. So, I would imagine you would not be able to use the earlier WSDL file for google search. You might have to look in using the new "AJAX Search API". How to implement a Date Picker (Calendar) as a LOV in Portal Form? Do I need to choose POPUP and LOV for Date?
Instead of typing the Date within a Portal form, a popup Calender that will allow user to Pick a date.

Once you have the JavaScript and have added it to your form, you need to the the following. First off, you need to be able to customize the HTML code for the form (i.e. choose custom for form type when creating the form). Once you do that go into the custom layout to customize your HTML code. Find the field you want to add the date picker to. It will be <#your_field_name.ITEM#>
Paste this code after it:

You will have to play around with the forms[0].elements[16]. 16 is what date field is set to. However your will differ, so just play with it.

One piece of advise I can give is to NOT* use the Shopping Cart fuctnionality inherent in WLP (com.beasys.commerce.ebusiness.shoppingcart. The Online Commerce functionality in WebLogic Portal has been deprecated.

How to implement Master-Detail Search in TopLink without using DataControl

I am using TopLink and EJB in our requirement. But we are not creating any data controls. Without data controls how to implement master detail search using TopLink and EJB. I did search for a single table. It is working fine. The way i implented is as follows.
1) Taking search parameter from UI and passing it to A delegator class's method.
2) Delegator class's method calls the EJB's NamedQuery which i already created using expression builder.
3) EJB executes the NamedQuery with the parameter we are passing. And it returns the results back to UI.
But as i am new to TopLink, can anyone tell me the procedure to implement Master - Detail search. Here we need to search based on Master table's column.

Also, about deploying Portal from development server to production server (using Export Import) , do we have to deploy it to all nodes , or can we just deploy it once to the cluster ?
