How to improve the load time of my swf group
Hi,
I need help to have some tricks to improve my load time on my swf captivate online traning. My training has 6 sections and it takes 3 minutes to download each time I open the window of the training. It takes too much time and if there are 50 users at the same time, it will take lots of my website bandwidth. Do you have any tips on captivate settings or other tips to help reduce my training download time? I do not understand why the 6 modules loading simultaneously and not every time I click to start a new part of training.
Can you help me with my problem?
Thank you
Bryan,
If "read from spreadsheet file" is the main time hog, consider dropping it! It is a high-level, very multipurpose VI and thus carries a lot of baggage around with it. (you can double-click it and look at the "guts" )
If the files come from a just executed "list files", you can assume the files all exist and you want to read them in one single swoop. All that extra detailed error checking for valid filenames is not needed and you never e.g. want it to popup a file dialog if a file goes missing, but simply skip it silently. If open generates an error, just skip to the next in line. Case closed.
I would do a streamlined low level "open->read->close" for each and do the "spreadsheet string to array" in your own code, optimized to the exact format of your files. For example, notice that "read from spreadheet file" converts everything to SGL, a waste of CPU if you later need to convert it to DBL for some signal processing anyway.
Anything involving formatted text is not very efficient. Consider a direct binary file format for your data files, it will read MUCH faster and take up less disk space.

How to improve the load performance while using Datasources for the Invoice
HI All,
How to improve the load performance while using Datasources for the Invoice . Actually my invoice load (Appx. 0.4 M records) is taking very long time nearly ~16 to 18 hrs to update data from R/3 to 0ASA_DS01.
If I load through flat file it will load with in ~20 Min for the same amount of data.
Please suggest how to improve load performance.
PS: I have done the Inpo package settings as per the OSS note.
Regads
Srininivasarao.Namburi.Hi Srinivas,
Please refer to my blog posting [/people/divyesh.jain/blog/2010/07/20/package-size-in-spend-performance-management-extraction|/people/divyesh.jain/blog/2010/07/20/package-size-in-spend-performance-management-extraction] which gives the details about the package size setting for extractors. I am sure that will be helpful in your case.

How to improve the load performance
can any body tell me how to improve the load performance
Hi,
for all loads: improve your ABAP code in routines.
for master data load:
- load master data attributes before the charateristic itself
- switch number range buffering on for initial loads
for transactional loads:
- load all your master data IObjs prior loading your cube / ODS
- depending on the ratio No.Records loaded / No.Records in Cube F fact table, drop / recreate indexes (if ration is mor than 40/50%
- switch on number range buffering for dimensions with high number of records for initial loads
- switch on number range buffering on master data IObjs which aren't loaded via master data (SIDs always created while transactional loads; eg document, item....)
these recommendations are just some among others like system tuning, DB parameters...
hope this helps...

How to improve jsp load time?
Hi everyone --
Got a question for all of you.
I have a form in a JSP, which does a (Oracle 9i) db lookup on 13 fields and populates the drop-down boxes. The load time for the JSP is slooooww.
These are my options for speeding up the load time (I think):
1. When the web/app server starts the application, have it do all the db lookups and store the resultsets...somewhere. Maybe have some dblistener thread that periodically checks for updates to the db. Then, when someone actually requests the JSP, all the JSP has to do is read the pre-populated drop-down boxes and load.
2. Wait until someone requests the JSP and store all the resultsets as cookies for the session. The resultsets will be good for the home JSP and its sister. This doesn't really solve the problem, since the initial load will still be slow.
3. Combine all the lookup statements into one huge statement, and store the results somewhere. This method queries the db only once, and the drop-down boxes can be populated from one query (instead of 13 separate connections and queries).
All of these ideas seem mediocre to me, and they don't address the fact that the results of the queries change contantly. What I need is a
way to make the JSP load quickly and with the most current information.
Does anyone have any ideas? Which of my suggestions is rather boneheaded?
Thanks for any advice,
-KwjIt's still not perfect, but it's better at least.
I'm querying 4 different tables overall, and I have a Db class that the jsp instantiates.
from home.jsp:
Db d = new Db();
ResultSet [] all = d.getAll();
<body>
%>
<tr><td align=right>Correspondence ID: </td><td><select>

rs = all [1];
while(rs.next()){
%>
<option><%=rs.getString("sak_correspondence")%></option>
<%
%>
</select></td>
</body>
[\code]
from Db.java:public ResultSet [] getAll() throws SQLException
ResultSet [] all = new ResultSet [4];
all [0] = con.prepareStatement
("select nam_category from doco.corr_category " +
"order by nam_category asc").executeQuery();
all [1] = con.prepareStatement
("select sak_correspondence, dte_received, dte_response_due, " +
"dte_sent, file_path, id_outref, subject " +
"from doco.correspondence").executeQuery();
all [2] = con.prepareStatement
("select nam from doco.corr_type order by nam asc").executeQuery();
all [3] = con.prepareStatement
("select nam_subcategory from doco.corr_subcategory " +
"order by nam_subcategory asc").executeQuery();

How to improve the execution time of my VI?
My vi does data processing for hundreds of files and takes more than 20 minutes to commplete. The setup is firstly i use the directory LIST function to list all the files in a dir. to a string array. Then I index this string array into a for loop, in which each file is opened one at a time inside the loop, and some other sub VIs are called to do data analysis. Is there a way to improve my execution time? Maybe loading all files into memory at once? It will be nice to be able to know which section of my vi takes the longest time too. Thanks for any help.

How to improve the run time of this query
Is there any way to improve this query,
I have a table which SR_WId with atleast one subtype as 'Break Fix', 'Break/Fix','Break Fix/Corrective Maint','Break Fix-Corrective Maint'. then i can have other subtype as 'Break Fix', 'Break/Fix', 'Follow Up', 'Follw-Up','T&'||'M Break Fix','Break Fix/Corrective Maint','Break Fix-Corrective Maint'.
Let me know if this is okay or to modify it.
SELECT DISTINCT A.SR_WID AS SR_WID
FROM WC_SR_ACT_SMRY_FS A
WHERE EXISTS
(SELECT NULL FROM WC_SR_ACT_SMRY_FS B
WHERE B.ACT_TYPE = 'Maintenance'
AND B.ACT_SUBTYPE in ('Break Fix', 'Break/Fix','Break Fix/Corrective Maint','Break Fix-Corrective Maint') AND B.NBR_OF_ACTIVITIES = 1 AND B.SR_WID = A.SR_WID
GROUP BY B.SR_WID
HAVING COUNT(B.SR_WID) >= 1)
AND A.ACT_TYPE = 'Maintenance'
AND A.ACT_SUBTYPE IN ('Break Fix', 'Break/Fix', 'Follow Up', 'Follw-Up','T&'||'M Break Fix','Break Fix/Corrective Maint','Break Fix-Corrective Maint')SELECT DISTINCT A.SR_WID AS SR_WID
FROM WC_SR_ACT_SMRY_FS A
WHERE EXISTS(
SELECT NULL
FROM WC_SR_ACT_SMRY_FS B
WHERE B.ACT_TYPE = 'Maintenance'
AND B.ACT_SUBTYPE IN
('Break Fix',
'Break/Fix',
'Break Fix/Corrective Maint',
'Break Fix-Corrective Maint')
AND B.NBR_OF_ACTIVITIES = 1
AND B.SR_WID = A.SR_WID
GROUP BY B.SR_WID
HAVING COUNT(B.SR_WID) >= 1 )
AND A.ACT_TYPE = 'Maintenance'
AND A.ACT_SUBTYPE IN
('Break Fix',
'Break/Fix',
'Follow Up',
'Follw-Up',
'T&' || 'M Break Fix',
'Break Fix/Corrective Maint',
'Break Fix-Corrective Maint');First of all, you can omit the GROUP BY and HAVING part in the sub-select -
we already know thath the only value for B.SR_WID can be A.SR_WID and
COUNT(B.SR_WID) will always be at least 1, otherwise the sub-select will
return nothing.
As a second step, you could transform EXISTS() into IN():
SELECT DISTINCT SR_WID
FROM WC_SR_ACT_SMRY_FS A
WHERE SR_WID IN(
SELECT B.SR_WID
FROM WC_SR_ACT_SMRY_FS B
WHERE B.ACT_TYPE = 'Maintenance'
AND B.ACT_SUBTYPE IN
('Break Fix',
'Break/Fix',
'Break Fix/Corrective Maint',
'Break Fix-Corrective Maint')
AND B.NBR_OF_ACTIVITIES = 1)
AND ACT_TYPE = 'Maintenance'
AND ACT_SUBTYPE IN
('Break Fix',
'Break/Fix',
'Follow Up',
'Follw-Up',
'T&' || 'M Break Fix',
'Break Fix/Corrective Maint',
'Break Fix-Corrective Maint'); -
How can I improve the response time of the user interface?
I'm after some tips on how to improve the response time to mouse clicks on a VI front panel.
I have data acquistion application which used to run fine, but after spending a couple of weeks making a whole bunch of changes to it I find that the user interface has become a bit sluggish.
My main GUI VI has a while loop running 16 times a second, updating some waveform charts and polling about a dozen buttons on the front panel.
There is sometimes a delay (variable, but up to 2 seconds sometimes) from when I click on a button to when it becomes depressed. I have wired the iteration terminal of the while loop to an indicator on the front panel and can see that the while loop is ticking over during the delayed response to the mouse click, so I know that the problem is not that the whole program is running slow, just the response to mouse clicks.
Also, just for debugging purposes, I have indicators of the iterations of all the main while loops in my program on the front panel, so I can see that there are no loops running abnormally fast either.
One thing I've tried is to turn off multi-threading, and this does seem to work - the response to mouse clicks is much faster. However, it has the side effect of making the main GUI while loop run less evenly. I was trying to get a fairly smooth waveform scrolling across the screen, and when multi-threading is off it gets a bit jerky.
Any other suggestion welcome..
(I am using LabVIEW 7.1, Windows 2000).
Regards,
Mark.Hi Altenbach,
Thanks for your reply. In answer to your questions:
I am doing both DAQ board and serial data acquisition. I am using NIDAQ traditional for the DAQ board, and VISA for the serial. I have other similar versions of this program that do only DAQ board, or only serial, and these work fine. It was only when I combined them both into the same program that I ran into problems.
The multiple while loops are actually in separate VIs. I have one VI that acquires data from the DAQ card, another VI that acquires data from the serial port, another VI that processes the data and saves to file, and another VI, the GUI VI, that displays the data in graphs and charts. The data is transferred betwen the VIs via LV2 globals.
The GUI VI is a bit more complicated than I first mentioned. It has tab control, with 4 waveform charts on one page, 4 waveform graphs on another page, and 3 waveform graphs on another page. The charts have a history length of 2560, and 16 data points are added 16 times a second. The wavefom graphs are only updated once per minute.
I don't use the value property at all, but I do use lots of property nodes for changing the properties of the graphs and charts e.g. changing plot colours, Y scale range etc. There is only one local variable (for the Tab control). All the graphs and charts have data wired directly to their terminals.
I haven't done any profiling yet.
I am building arrays in uninitialised shift registers, but this is all well under control. As the experiement goes on, more data is collected and stored, and so the memory usage does gradually increase, but only to the extent that I would expect.
The CPU usage is 100%, but I thought this was always the case when using NIDAQ with DAQ cards. Or am I wrong about this? (As a side note, I am using NIDAQ traditional, but would NIDAQmx be better?)
Execution priority of the GUI vi (and all the other VIs for that matter) is set to normal.
The program is a bit large to post here, and I'm not sure if my company would be happy for me to publicise it anyway, so I suspect that this is turning into one of those questions that are going to be impossible to answer.
Just as a more general question, why would turning off multi-threading improve the user interface response?
Thanks,
Mark. -
How to improve the speed for backing up files to time capsule via in hose wifi?
How to improve the speed for backing up files to time capsule via in hose wifi?
via in hose wifi?
Use a bigger hose??
House??
Need to spell this out a bit more..
But speed via 2.4ghz to the TC is restricted by Apple to max 130mbps link speed.. much slower actual transfer.. latest TC and laptops can do 450mbps on 5ghz but you need to be up close.. so place the TC near the device using it.. and force 5ghz connection by using a different name for 5ghz network. -
How the loading time populate in a standard dilivery
Hi
I got an issue in which I have to find out that one delivery does not having the loading time .
I want to know how the loading time and date is being populated.
Please reply ASAP.
thanks in Advance
GauravHi,
if You have no results in "Where is used" list, then it is called dynamically
- problably information about this is stored in a database (somewhere...).
I suggest following steps:
1. Put breakpoint with Your user id in PAI module (if You know / are able to guess t-code which uses it).
If You get debugger screen - check the call stack
2. In PAI module write few instructions to store t-code, report, etc. (or just whole SYST structure) in Z-table.
After some time check if the screen exit was called and from which transaction.
3. You can also store in PAI module whole call stack in Z-table using SYSTEM_CALLSTACK function module.

How can I speed up the load time?
My website is completed and I am happy with everything.
Everything except the time it takes to load. All the images have
been optimized. What can I do to speed up the load time?

Typically, your budget is around 50k for the first page,
total including
all external files. When you add up all the external files
you have used,
like images, Flash, external JavaScript, etc., you have 98
separate HTTP
requests in that page. Just looking at the headers, you have
about 80k in
requests and responses, not even counting the actual files.
Browsers are limited to just a few simultaneous streams, so
most of your
files wind up having to wait until the prior files download.
Included among your 98 requests, you have these six files
that each
individually exceed that total budget:
headerLinked.swf 2,621,578 bytes
2007_fishing_video_web.flv 95,989,898 bytes
2008_aoy_graphic.png 65,582 bytes
jensen_beach.png 59,105 bytes
liquid_fire_logo_new.png 142,277 bytes
DanSchaad.png 379,111 bytes
Your entire total is 99,816,652 bytes. I've put a complete
breakdown here:
http://testing.apptools.com/newsgroup/liquidfire.php
Files are requested from the server in the order they are
encountered in
the source code. They are displayed in the linked page in the
order in
which they are requested. You can see that some of the huge
files are
requested fairly early in the sequence. That means that those
files and
their extended download times are occupying streams and
preventing other
files from being downloaded more quickly.
My suggestion would be to really trim down the content on the
page. Break
it up into several pages. Dump the huge Flash movie at the
top of the
page. Optimize the four .png's above.

Hi
You check in SM50 by executing the programing, You will come to know which select is taking more time and accordingly you modify that select.
You can do SQL trace and Run time analysis and analyse and see.
check this and use
1) Dont use nested select statements
2) If possible use for all entries in addition
3) In the where addition make sure you give all the primary key
4) Use Index for the selection criteria.
5) You can also use inner joins
6) You can try to put the data from the first select statement into an Itab and then in order to select the data from the second table use for all entries in.
7) Use the runtime analysis SE30 and SQL Trace (ST05) to identify the performance and also to identify where the load is heavy, so that you can change the code accordingly
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/5d0db4c9-0e01-0010-b68f-9b1408d5f234
ABAP performance depends upon various factors and in devicded in three parts:
1. Database
2. ABAP
3. System
Run Any program using SE30 (performance analys) to improve performance refer to tips and trics section of SE30, Always remember that ABAP perfirmance is improved when there is least load on Database.
u can get an interactive grap in SE30 regarding this with a file.
also if u find runtime of parts of codes then use :
Switch on RTA Dynamically within ABAP Code
*To turn runtim analysis on within ABAP code insert the following code
SET RUN TIME ANALYZER ON.
*To turn runtim analysis off within ABAP code insert the following code
SET RUN TIME ANALYZER OFF.
Always check the driver internal tables is not empty, while using FOR ALL ENTRIES
Avoid for all entries in JOINS
Try to avoid joins and use FOR ALL ENTRIES.
Try to restrict the joins to 1 level only ie only for tables
Avoid using Select *.
Avoid having multiple Selects from the same table in the same object.
Try to minimize the number of variables to save memory.
The sequence of fields in 'where clause' must be as per primary/secondary index ( if any)
Avoid creation of index as far as possible
Avoid operators like <>, > , < & like % in where clause conditions
Avoid select/select single statements in loops.
Try to use 'binary search' in READ internal table. Ensure table is sorted before using BINARY SEARCH.
Avoid using aggregate functions (SUM, MAX etc) in selects ( GROUP BY , HAVING,)
Avoid using ORDER BY in selects

How to improve the performance of the application
Hi,
We have customized the standard SRM BSP application and integrated to portal.
Now it has got some performence issues. It is taking time to load the page and also while navigating between the views.
We have done the performence tuning for the application to the maximum extent. But the problem is while loading the application, its taking time.
Can anyone suggest how to improve the performence of the Application.
Thanks & Regards
WarunThe system configuration is more than enough to run java applications.
You are probalbly doing time-consuming operations in the event thread. Which blocks the event thread and the gui seems not to be responding. If you you have a very bad design.
Use a thread for time consuming operations. -

Please suggest : -
Treat this is very urgent.Hi Shyamal,
In your program , you are using "into corresponding fields of ".
Try not to use this addition in your select query.
Instead, just use "into table it_list".
As an example,
Just give a normal query using "into corresponding fields of" in a program. Now go to se30 ( Runtime analysis), and give the program name and execute it .
Now if you click on Analyze button , you can see, the analysis given for the query.The one given in "Red" line informs you that you need to find for alternate methods.
On the other hand, if you are using "into table itab", it will give you an entirely different analysis.
So try not to give "into corresponding fields" in your query.

How to improve the OpenGL performance for AE
I upgraded my display card from Nvidia 8600GT to GTX260+ hoping to have a better and smoother scrubbing of the timeline in AE. But to my disappointment, there is absolutely no improvement at all. I checked the OpenGL benchmark of the 2 cards with the Cinebench software and the results are almost the same for the 2 cards.
I wonder why the GTX260+ costs as much as about 3 times the cost of the 8600GT, but the OpenGL performance is almost the same.
Any idea how to improve the OpenGL performance please ?
Regardsjuskocf wrote:
But to scrub the timeline smoothly, I think OpenGL plays an important role.
No, not necessarily. General things like footage I/O performance can be much more critical in that case. Generally speaking, AE only uses OpenGL in 2 specific situations: When navigating 3D space and with hardware-accelerated effects. It doesn't do so consistently, though, as any non-accelerated function, such as a specific effect or exhaustion of the avialbale resources can negate that.
juskocf wrote:
Also, some 3D plugins such as Boris Continuum 6 need OpenGL to smoothly maneuver the 3D objects. Just wonder why the OpenGL Performance of such an expensive card should be so weak.
It's not the card, it's what the card does. See my above comment. Specific to the Boris stuff: Geometry manipulation is far simpler than pixel shaders. Most cards will allow you to manipulate bazillions of polygons - as long as they are untextured and only use simple shading, you will not see any impact on performance. Things get dicy, when it needs to use textures and load those textures into the graphics card's memory. Either loading those textures takes longer than the shading calculations, or, if you use multitexturing (different images combined with transparencies or blendmodes), you'll at some point reach the maximum. It's really a mixed bag. Ultimately the root of all evil is, that AE is not build around OpenGL because at the time it didn't exist, but rather the other way around OpenGL was plugged-on at some point and now there is a number of situations where one gets in the way of the other...
