How to install gcc!!

please tell me in details !!!
thank you very much!!

Gnu C++ compiler that is part of GCC ( Gnu COmpiler Collection ) can be downloaded from http://www.sunfreeware.com.
Once you download the GCC compiler collections, you will have zipped format file called gcc-3.0.1-sol8-sparc-local.gz in your current directory. Here we are using GNU 3.0.1 version
compiler collection.
You need to unzip the file and that will give you gcc-3.0.1-sol8-sparc-local file.
After you unzipped your package you need to install it with the following command.
#pkgadd -d . gcc-3.0.1-sol8-sparc-local
Hope it helps.

    Also how can I install Berkeley DB (including development package) on archlinux with all the header files and configure it.
    thanks to all of you

    Thanks guys I am loving Archlinux, the speed and control is amazing.
    I installed GCC 3.3 and db.h was already in /usr/include/db.h
    but when I compiled the code (MAIN.c) it gave these errors in db.h ??? I don't know what to do now, db.h itself is reflecting errors..huh.
    As you can see the starting lines are directing towards db.h as having errors

  • How to install GCC and DKMS on Oracle Linux?

    Hello,
    I am a newbie to Oracle Linux. I installed Oracle Linux on a virtual machine using Oracle VirtualBox. Now I need to install the packages DKMS and GCC in order to share drives between the host and the ghost.
    Here is what is happening:
    # yum install dkms
    Setting up Install Process
    Setting up repositories
    No Repositories Available to Set Up
    Reading repository metadata in from local files
    Parsing paskage install arguments
    No Match for afgument: dkms
    Nothing to do
    Please, advice what to do.
    Thanks in advance.

    Here is what you need to install under Oracle Linux or Red Hat Enterprise Linux to install the VirtualBox Guest Additions:
    <pre>yum -y install gcc kernel-uek-devel-$(uname -r)</pre>
    The packages are available from the Oracle public yum repository as already mentioned, or on the installation DVD in the server directory.

  • How to install gcc on solaris 7

    Hi everybody
    I downloaded "gcc-2.95.2-sol7-intel-local.gz" from sunfreeware.com site. I unzipped it but i don't know how can i install it on my solaris intel 7. please help me.
    Thanks
    Behrad

    Seeing as how this is an old post I assume you already figured it out, and unless I'm way off it's a simple matter of using the pkgadd utility. Something like this I believe (while your in the directory):
    pkgadd -d gcc-2.95.2-sol7-intel-local .
    If you don't have enough room in your /usr/local or /opt directories, you might need to use the -R <root-path> to redirect the install to a different location. You must be root when installing.
    Good Luck,
    -Mel

  • How to install gcc and its related packages?

    In Debian, we can install a virtual package build-essential which relys on packages like gcc and libc6-dev to bulid a base development environment.
    If I want to compile the source codes in Arch Linux , or compile my codes, which packages should i install??

    none usually, it's all there already
    You are basically expected to compile, using makepkg, all packages you want/need in the AUR, so the standard toolkit is already available...

    You misunderstood pacman's output.
    I just now saw it.
    I'm currently compiling GCC from source anyway though, to keep the bleeding-edge, so I won't need that package. Once it becomes official I'll just upgrade as usual.
    Thanks, everyone!

    If you really need to, I think the best way might be to install a 32-bit chroot and install the 32-bit version of gcc inside of it, which will then be able to compile 32-bit programs.  Seems like it might be a bit of a hassle though .

  • How to install C/C++ compiler in Solaris 10 (ie gcc)

    HI all,
    I have just installed Solaris 10 on my x86 machine. I thought that I installed the C/C++ compilers but when I went to check it turns out that I don't. When I type which gcc or which cc I get gcc not found.
    Am I missing something?
    If I need to instal gcc/c how do I do it. I am new to Solaris 10, I don't have rpm installed either apparently. I have found the pkgadd utility? but I don't know the first thing about how to use it. I have picked up a Solaris 9 book from my university library but I just thought that this might be a tad faster.
    Hope you can help.

    Correct, the Companion CD installs into /opt/sfwI can confirm this.
    Can someone from Sun check this?I'm not from Sun, but...
    I just installed the companion cd, and it installs in
    /usr/sfw ... not /opt... this cannot be correct. If you install the full Solaris 10
    product (the released version), then you do have
    /usr/sfw/bin/gcc, /usr/sfw/bin/gas, /usr/sfw/bin/gmake, ...
    If you install the Solaris 10 "Software companion CD" on top
    of a full Solaris 10 install, you get more free software installed
    under /opt/sfw, including another gcc3 in /opt/sfw/bin/gcc, a
    gcc2 in /opt/sfw/gcc-2/bin/gcc, ...
    The only software in /opt is:
    SUNWits SUNWmlib SUNWspro netbeans
    There is no /opt/sfw/bin directory.Then you didn't install the Solaris 10 "Software Comanion CD" !
    Perhaps I installed the freeware versions?
    http://sunfreeware.com/index.html
    sunfreeware.com != "Solaris 10 Software companion CD".
    When I downloaded the Solaris 10 DVD image, the software
    companion CD was an extra optional CD image download
    item on Sun's download center web page.

  • How to install Oracle 10g on to Red Hat Linux 5 Server

    I'm new to both Linux and Oracle. I've been working on an installion of Oracle 10g on a Red Hat Linux 5 Server for about 2 weeks. I've been doing a lot of reading about installing Oracle on a Linux environment. I finally got to the installation portion and the Oracle Installer displayed a message that I had to have Red Hat 4 or 4 Enterprise to continue.
    How can Install Oracle 10g onto a Red Hat 5 Linux Server"? Is there an option that I can use to bypass the OS checking?
    Thanks

    Unfortunately there is no way to access metalink without a valid account. You could then just try to skip preinstall requisites with this clause:
    ./runInstaller -ignoreSysPrereqs
    or this method:
    Copy the oraparam.ini from the installation source install/oraparam.ini to /tmp directory.
    Edit the file /tmp/oraparam.ini so this file reads:
    After
    [Certified Versions]
    Linux=redhat-3,SuSE-9,redhat-4,UnitedLinux-1.0,asianux-1,asianux-2,redhat-5
    also, make sure you have these packages installed:
    # rpm -ivh gcc-c++-4.1.1-52.el5.i386.rpm gcc-4.1.1-52.el5.i386.rpm
    libstdc++-devel-4.1.1-52.el5.i386.rpm glibc-devel-2.5-12.i386.rpm
    glibc-headers-2.5-12.i386.rpm libgomp-4.1.1-52.el5.i386.rpm
    libXp-1.0.0-8.i386.rpm compat-libstdc++-296-2.96-138.i386.rpm
    compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-61.i386.rpm
