How to install Portal Examples in Weblogic Portal 10.3.5

I downloaded installation file portal103_win32.exe from Oracle site which is for Weblogic Portal 10.3.5. During the installation process I could not find anywhere I can choose to install Portal Examples.
Did I miss anything when I did the installation or Portal Examples have just been removed from the installation file for Weblogic Portal 10.3.5?

Thank you Emmanuel.
Is it because the features in Portal Examples were not supported anymore since 10.3.4?

  • How to add Friendly URLs in Weblogic Portal?

    Hi,
    We are developing a portal using Weblogic 10gR3. Right now the URL's that are getting formed are very long which includes the nfpb, nfls, pagelabel e.t.c. The requirement is to have a very user friendly url something like http://www.x.com/portal/<<pageLabel>>
    The Weblogic documentation mentions something about URL compression, however unable to apply it for dynamic URL's. We have URL's which are formed on the fly from the WLP Content Repository
    Is there some kind of servlet / filter provided within WLP. I read somewhere about an URLTransformationServlet. But there was no documentation on its usage. Can some one share a sample code snippet with me. That would be really really helpful, as we are having a slight time crunch here.
    Any kind of help on this will be deeply appreciated. Thanks
    Thanks and Regards,
    Lilly

    As mentioned earlier, changes to the portal url is not provided out of box, the documentation link that I provided mentions a possible way of achieving this by creating a start up servlet, this may or may-not work in all circumstances. If the suggestions provided so far has not helped you so far, I would recommend you engage oracle professional services team to get assistance.

    Dear Team,
    Please find below comments from Dev team.
    While try to incorporate the URL navigation changes at
    our development environment we are getting exception Unable to render /framework/skeletons/bharti_skeleton/singlelevelmenu.jsp .
    I have also checked feasibility for the URL navigation changes provided and will not work for left menu
    and footer URL because while rendering these URL we are not using single level menu jsp or multilevel menu jsp.
    Please check with these comments and update ASAP.

    Since your question about Rich Text support in CMS is not related to portal urls, I would request you raise this as a separate issue.
    In the new SR, please elaborate what you mean by the Rich Text support, whats your proposed use case, whats working and what is not.
    Could you also confirm if the further information I have provided regarding making changes to the url meets your requirement.

    WLProxy configuration falls under the weblogic server product hence you will have to raise an SR with that product to get any suggestions.
    Before that I would suggest you play around with the parameter I have suggested and see how it is impacting the url and then if there is any specific area you are stuck on check with the WLS team.
    Like I mentioned earlier, I do not know if this will completely meet your business requirement, but something you can look into.

    URLCompression servlet is the only option that weblogic portal provides out of the box to compress the URL of WLP. I understand this does not suite your requirement.
    The other option I can think of that can possibly help you achieve this is to configure any weblogic proxy plugin that you might be making use of, see the document
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15051_01/wls/docs103/plugins/plugin_params.html#wp1143055 look for PathTrim, PathPrepend

    Hi,
    Even thogh after implementing the below changes,still we are not able to get the result. " nfpb parameter is still existing in URL ".
    Implementing URL Compression :
    To configure a webapp to use url compression, follow these steps:
    1. Define the compression servlet in web.xml; for example
    <servlet>
    <servlet-name>UrlCompressionServlet</servlet-name>
    <servlet-class>com.bea.portlet.compression.UrlCompressionServlet
    </servlet-class>
    <init-param>
    <param-name>defaultPage</param-name>
    <param-value>/index.jsp</param-value>
    </init-param>
    <init-param>
    <param-name>errorPage</param-name>
    <param-value>/errors/error.jsp</param-value>
    </init-param>
    <load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup>
    </servlet>
    2. Map the compression pattern; for example:
    <servlet-mapping>
    <servlet-name>UrlCompressionServlet</servlet-name>
    <url-pattern>wlp.c</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>
    3. Add the token {url:compression} to the templates for which you want to apply compression.
    Please suggest on this ASAP.

  • How to hide the menus in Weblogic Portal?

    I have to develop a page in Weblogic Portal 10.0 that uses a portlet for the UI presentation.
    I have a requirement that the page is hidden by default. When I navigate to the page by selecting a link, I have to display the contents in that page. While displaying I should hide the portal level menus of other books/pages. But I have to display other contents like logo, etc.
    Can some one please help me on how to hide the menus in the selected page?
    Edited by: [email protected] on Apr 19, 2010 3:43 AM

    As a quick and dirty solution i would edit the navigation jsps (singlelevel/multilevel/yourcustom menu jsp) and disable the navigation for all hidden pages.
    Or create a backing file and dynamically change the navigation state on the desktop when the hidden page is requested.
    Or have the page in a different portal file if possible and set the same header and footer there as well.
    Or You could have a look at the detached portlets. These are used as popups often.

  • How to achive Geo Targetting in Weblogic Portal 10.3

    Hi,
    We have a requirement of Geo Targetting in Weblogic Portal 10.3. Requirement is that once the Portal is rendered first time, based on IP tracking, content & services for that region need to be shown.
    Need to understand is there any API or feature to achieve this?
    Also, we are creating the desktops out of the portal, so will it be possible to have geo targetting code in .portal & once desktops are created through portal, is it going to reflect the Geo Targeting feature in desktops.
    Thanks,
    Uttam

    Your question is too generic to be answered. Detecting which country the user is from does not have anything specific to do with BEA portal, you'd implement this as in any other J2EE app. Once you know this,
    Where / how is this country specific content stored? Its likely that there isnt one answer for this. You might be
    a. Storing this in CMS
    b. Have some form based labels that arent country specific. have validations messages.
    c. Have country specific images (e.g. buttons)
    d. have some content that you get from other systems in your enterprise and or your database.
    e. have rules for defaulting e.g. if no france specific content use usa.
    There are various ways you could model each of the above but since we dont know the constraints / context of your question , its doubtful anyone can give you any useful answer. If there is a specific question you have (e.g. Im storing content in the BEA repository in the following model , how would I vary what the user sees) you might get an answer for those.

    Thanks in advance.

    First you install a JDK6 version after which you can install your WebLogic and Forms, Reports...
    A step-by-step example is presented here: http://middlewaremagic.com/weblogic/?p=7265
    Look in the 'Install WebLogic' section. Note that you probably do not have to create a separate user,
    also you can use HotSpot instead of JRockit.

  • How to install j2ee examples

    I originally downloaded the j2ee bundle which had the sdk, application server, etc... together. it installed the examples.
    I had a problem, uninstalled. Then could not install the bundle. So I downloaded everything separately.
    when i downloaded them seperately, it was just in a zip file and did not install. the docs dont say how to install them.

    The samples come with a self contained build scripts which do all the reqyured setup and cleanup. So you can just execute those scripts of individual samples to be able to deploy and test the samples

  • How to install BPM Enterprise for weblogic

    I need to install BPM Enterprise for Weblogic 10.3. However, the weblogic is installed in another machine. BPM and weblogic are installed in different machines.
    When I configure the BPM, how to set the weblogic home and workspace folder?

    Hi Ruben Vidaurre,
    Thanks for your reply.
    During the configuration of BPM after installation, I should key in the Weblogic Home address and select a folder for it. I can configure it and know where the weblogic home address is if weblogic server and BPM enterprise for weblogic are installed in the same machine.
    How to key in the weblogic home address if the weblogic is installed in another machine (BPM Enterprise for weblogic and weblogic are install in different machine) ?

  • How to Monitor  ALBPM  APPS with Weblogic Portals

    Hi All,
    I am new to BPM,
    I have created a sample application with roles and participants ,My Requirement is i need to monitor the ALBPM Application through weblogic 9.2 Portals ,
    Please let me know if any one is working on this kind of scenario
    Thanks
    LRK

    Monitoring examples can be found here: http://middlewaremagic.com/weblogic/?p=7340
    The WebLogic monitoring dashboard can be reached at: http://hostname:7001/console/dashboard.
    For example, to view how the memory of the individual JVMs are doing you can start the JVM Runtime Heap view.
    (Some examples can be found here: http://middlewaremagic.com/weblogic/?p=7716 - in the 'testing' section.)

  • How to install a servlet on weblogic ??

    Hi : (I have Weblogic Server 6.0 on Redhat 6.2)
                   I have a simple servlet from bea tutorials :

              import javax.servlet.http.*;

              out.println("<html><head><title>" +
              "Hello World!</title></head>");

              where i put the compiled class ¿?¿?
              can i do this on live ¿?¿?
              how can i do to "execute" my simple servlet ¿?¿?¿?
              i'm very new to WL .

              I'm impressed for the difficulty of WL , i am looking for
              change all to Tomcat or JRUN or so ...
              Thanks

    This is a very basic servlet and deploying it to WL is actually pretty
              straightforward. Before you abandon WL, go to:
              http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs61/servlet/introprog.html#134557
              This example will take you step-by-step through the process...
              email me directly if I can help!

  • How to Install Cocoon 2 into Weblogic 6.0

    My department has worked out the following steps to install C2 into Weblogic
    6.0.
    1. Start a DOS window.
    2. Go to the top directory of the disk where BEA is mounted.
    cd \
    3. Log in to CVS:
    cvs -d :pserver:[email protected]:/home/cvspublic login
    4. Checkout Cocoon 2 from CVS:
    cvs -d :pserver:[email protected]:/home/cvspublic -z3 checkout
    xml-cocoon2
    Wait for several minutes for the source files to download.
    5. Go into resulting directory:
    cd \xml-cocoon2
    6. Build Cocoon 2 by doing 6a or 6b.
    6a. If you are running Windows, run:
    build.bat
    On my machine, this took 15 seconds; your mileage may vary.
    6b. If you are running unix, run:
    build.sh
    7. If you haven't done so already, build a domain and a server. In this
    discussion, the name of the domain is 'mydomain' and the name of the server
    is 'myserver'.
    These are the BEA default names.
    8. In Windows Explorer, drag COPY (i.e. hold the ctrl key down) the
    directory
    C:\xml-cocoon2\webapp
    to
    c:\bea\wlserver6.0sp1\config\mydomain\applications
    (if in Unix, do the Unix equivalent.)
    9. Rename the newly created folder
    c:\bea\wlserver6.0sp1\config\mydomain\applications\webapp
    to
    c:\bea\wlserver6.0sp1\config\mydomain\applications\cocoon
    10. Edit the following file
    C:\bea\wlserver6.0sp1\config\mydomain\startWebLogic.cmd
    to modify the classpath with the following lines:
    set COCOON_ROOT=c:\xml-cocoon2
    set
    COCOONCLASSPATH="%COCOON_ROOT%\lib\xerces_1_3_1.jar;%COCOON_ROOT%\lib\xalan-

    VA_HOME%\lib\tools.jar;%COCOON_ROOT%\build\cocoon\cocoon.jar;%COCOON_ROOT%\l
    ib\logkit.jar
    ;%COCOON_ROOT%\lib\w3c.jar;%COCOON_ROOT%\lib\fop-0_18_1.jar;%COCOON_ROOT%\li

    hino.jar;%COC
    OON_ROOT%\lib\Tidy.jar;%COCOON_ROOT%\lib\velocity-1.0.1-rc1.jar"
    set CLASSPATH=.;.\lib\weblogic_sp.jar;.\lib\weblogic.jar
    set CLASSPATH=%COCOONCLASSPATH%;%CLASSPATH%
    11. Continue to edit the same file by inserting the following system
    property into the java run command for Weblogic:
    -Dorg.apache.cocoon.components.parser.Parser=org.apache.cocoon.component
    s.parser.XercesPa rser
    In other words, after you modify the java run command, it should look
    something like this:
    "%JAVA_HOME%\bin\java" -hotspot -ms64m -mx64m -classpath
    %CLASSPATH% -Dorg.apache.cocoon.components.parser.Parser=org.apache.cocoon.c
    omponents.parser.XercesPa
    rser -Dweblogic.Domain=mydomain -Dweblogic.Name=myserver "-Dbea.home=C:\bea"
    "-Djava.security.policy=C:\bea\wlserver6.0sp1/lib/weblogic.policy" -Dweblogi
    c.management.password=%WLS_PW% weblogic.Server
    12. Save the startWebLogic.cmd file.
    13. Run the startWebLogic.cmd file.
    14. Using a browser, link to your web site's cocoon page:
    http://<your machine name>:<port number>/cocoon/
    (Don't forget the final / in the link)
    15. You should see the Cocoon welcome page.
    Hope this helps,
    Scott

    Hi Dipendra,
                         For running the Adobe application You need to configure some thing in both Java as well as in ABAP stack for that abobe form application to work. You need to do some configuration in the Visual administrator for Java & also in the ABAP stack sidi using your SAP user id line creating ADSUSER , ADS_AGENT    user id creation and roles assignment and RFC destination creation etc..
    Just refer these documents for the installation and post-configuration of Adobe Document Service on NW2004s.

  • Error in Starting weblogic Portal Domain

    I have created weblogic portal domain using configuration wizard in Weblogic portal 9 and in weblogic portal 10.
    Weblogic portal 9 it is started fine and when started in weblogic portal 10 it throwed following exception.
    weblogic.security.SecurityInitializationException: Authentication denied: Boot identity not valid; The user name and/or password from the boot identity file (boot.properties) is not valid. The boot identity may have been changed since the boot identity file was created. Please edit and update the boot identity file with the proper values of username and password. The first time the updated boot identity file is used to start the server, these new values are encrypted.

    Can some one help me in this exception
    Thank You

    I am not sure how you got into this state, but to clear it up you can edit the boot.properties file to enter (clear text) the username and password for the server (entered when running the Configuration Wizard).
    The boot.properties file is located in your domain at:
    <domain root>/servers/AdminServer/security
    Just enter the username and password in the file:
    username=myUserName
    password=myPassword
    WebLogic Server will boot up using these values and immediately encrypt the username and password in the file.
    An alternate approach would be to delete boot.properties in which case WLS will prompt you for the id/pw each time it is started/stopped.

  • Weblogic Portal 10.3.5 using JSF 1.2 portlets with ADF faces

    We are developing Portal site using Weblogic Portal 10.3.5 with JSF portlet 1.2 and ADF faces (ADF Application runtime 11.1.1.5 ). But the JSF portlets not supporting ADF faces. Please let me know how we use ADF faces in JSF portlet 1.2 in Weblogic Portal.

    Hi Murthy,
    We did a detailed analysis.
    (1) How do we add ADF taskflows, JSF in to weblogic portal desktop/pages? Do we create portlet out of JSF, and display on desktop/page? If this is the case, what about ADf task flows?
    --> Taskflows can be deployed as WSRP2.0 portlets. Note 2 options are there JSF page as portlet or taskflow itself as portlets.
    (2) How do we integrate weblogic user profiles and UUP (unified user profiles) with ADF and JSF?
    --> ADF Security can use Weblogic Server realm as the security provider. Entitlements in WLP will have to be provided based on Weblogic Server roles. In case you are using external LDAP then both can be integrated withe external LDAP
    (3) Can anybody shed some light which this better?
    (a) weblogic portal with JPF (Java page flows), NetUI --Legacy approach
    Pros:
    -Easy Development
    -Well tested integrated
    Cons:
    -Future support
    -Enhancements may not be available
    -Not really portable or standards based
    (b) weblogic portal with ADF, JSF?
    Pros:
    -If your on Oracle stack then great
    -Standards based
    Cons:
    -JSF Portlet bridge issues
    -ADF Faces does not work on IE6!
    Well what we are going for is JSR 286, Trinidad components (Supports IE6), JSF.
    Difficult choice.
