i followed the "Creating Your First Web Dynpro Application"
the final step need prerequisites: sap 2ee engine && sdm
I just download the Developer Studio software (SAP NetWeaver 04s SP9), should i still download the Java Trail Version software (SAP NetWeaver 04s SP9) for j2ee engine setting?
what is the TREX software used for?

Hi,
yes you are right, you have to install a Java Application Server for testing. In the netweaver studio no testing environment is integrated by default.
If you just want to check out WebDynpro, the Slim Java Edition-Trial should be enough.
Trex is the search engine of the Enterprise Portal... but for simple WebDynpro Apps you will not need it.

How to install local J2EE engine

Hi Experts,
I am trying to install the J2EE engine to my local PC in order to do development for WebDynpro.
Does anyone have any step by step procedure of doing this?
I have searched through the forum and found some threads, but I couldn't quite understand the steps and the files needed to do this instalation.
FYI, I have the complete SAP Netweaver instalation CD. Does all the instalation file available on these CDs?

Hi,
1.you can install only 32 bit engine on your system,since your system doesn't support 64 bit engine.
2.Check for available space in C:\.since your default installation drive will be C:.It should have minimum of 9GB space and your RAM should be 1GB minimum.
3.Install JDK .Run exe file of JDK.By default ,it will be installed in C:.Take latest j2sdk1.4.2_13.4.Set environment variables in Mycomputer-->properties>advanced--->enviroment variables.
Under user variable,add parameter JAVA_HOME with path of JDK.(c:\j2sdk1.4.2_13)
Under System variable,click path and add path of JDK at the end and give path till bin.(c:\j2sdk1.4.2_13\bin).
5.Then you have to downlaod the CD's for 32bit Java stack.Copy those files to your desktop and run sapinst.exe.

I am looking for a trial version of the SAP J2EE Development Environment and the corresponding SAP J2EE Engine for windows environment. I looked at the link https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/nw-downloads. But the downloads are for the Linux environment. Are there any downloads for the Windows Environment.

Currently trial versions of SAP NetWeaver 2004 and 2004s (7.0) are only available for Linux.
Java EE development environment (the latest Java EE version - 5) trial versions for Windows are available in the [SAP NetWeaver CE download section|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/nw-ce-downloads].

How to install local J2EE Engine for NTW4 Dev Studio ?

We installed a full Web As 640 ABA+J2EE stack9 , and activated all the JDI components (DTR, CBS, CMS).
NOw we instaleld on local pc the Developer Studio and are trying to begin teh develop of java packages.
We are not able to activate the debug on the remote J2EE ENgine.
According the HelpOnline we should install a local J2EE Engine in order to be able to do debugging.
The problem is taht nowhere is written where to find out this software and how to install.
Anyone has some experience on that ?

For installing SAP Web AS (Java) copy the following
two archives to your local machine:-

ftp://ftp.sap.com/pub/sdn/devkits/netweaver/java/NW04SneakPrevJavaSP11.part2.rar
Steps:
1. Download both the .rar files in the same directory
Note: The path name length of the destination directory should not exceed 10 characters.
If you exceed the 10-character limit, the extraction process will fail.
2. You can erase the contents of this archive after the installation process.
3. A folder "NW04SneakPrevJavaSP11" is created after extraction.
Execute start.bat file in this directory to start the installation.

Hi Raja,
Use t code SLICENCE in your ecc6 and solman.
Determine the hardware key.
Go to sap market place. click on 'Keys & Requests' tab. Here select 'Request permanent license key' tab. Enter the required information. This way you'll get the license key.
Now go back to the SLICENSE in sap. select 'EDIT' - 'Install license key'' (F6).
Log in to client 000 with DDIC for installing the license.
As per my knowledge you dont need to install oracle key because, oracle comes in a bundle package with SAP.

How to install LV runtime engine and run .vi's in linux

I am attemtpting to load run time engine and run a .vi on Linux system.
Here is what I have done so far.
1. I don't have rpm on my system (gentoo) so I used the app on the install cd called INSTALL.norpm to install
labview70-rte-7.0.1.i386.rpm. It looks like it worked, there are a lot of files copied to /usr/local. A couple of .so files and a directory called Labview-7.0 (12M of files).
2. Made a test vi on other linux box that has full development system installed (also gentoo but i have rpm on this system).
    Do I need this application builder i keep hearing about to make an .exe or can I run vi's with this run time engine?
    What is the syntax to run a vi in linux? ./test.vi   ????
    Is application builder a seperate program that I must purchase?
When I attemp to run a vi I get garbage printing to the console, not unlike when you cat a binary file.
Any help would be appreciated. Is there instructions somewhare??? A manual perhaps that explains rte install and operation.

You need the application builder to create an exe. The rte by itself will not run a VI. The exe does require the rte. It is possible to create a "loader" program that you can use to run separate VIs but the loader program must be created with the app builder. The app builder is a separate add-on or if you buy the professional version of LabVIEW, it comes included with that.

Starting and stopping SAP J2EE Engine

Hi guys,
         I have downloaded and installed trial version of SAP Web Application Server (SAP Web AS) Java 6.40 for Microsoft Windows XP.
   I wanted to launch SAP J2EE Engine and Software Deployment Manager (SDM) to run my web dynpro application. The Netweaver Developer studio getting started guide has a link for starting and stopping the SAP J2EE Engine but its not working for me. I get an error with the link.
Is it possible for someone to let me know how to launch J2EE engine and SDM. Also what server settings I need to make in the menu path Window -> Preferences -> SAP J2EE Engine.
Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks for your help, It works fine. For some reason after starting my J2EE server, when I start my Netweaver developer studio, it gives the following error

SAP J2EE Engine configuration in NWDS 7.1

Hello everybody,
I would like to configure the SAP J2EE engine server (host and port) in NWDS 7.1.
In NWDS 7.0 I used to go in the Preference > SAP J2EE Engine and select "SAP J2EE engine is installed on a remote host" and enter the "Message server host" and "Message server port".
In NWDS 7.1, there is no "SAP J2EE Engine" in the preference and the only place where I found a field for J2EE engine was a local host only one.
How can I do in 7.1 what was able to do in 7.0?

I feel you just installed NWDS CE 7.1. But there is a lenghty process to achive that. After installation of 7.1 in menu path goto help>software updates>link*(first option)>login to servicemarketplace>there are two options first select 1st after completion next select 2nd it will take long time(bcozz it will download nearly 1.7gb).
try this and let us know....

I'm developing the simple webdynpro object using netweaver developer studio, but when i deploy it to sap J2ee engine and go there to set the JCO connection, I find the jco connectiuon tab in the diabled mode. I need to configure the new jco connection in order to run the project. Please suggest.

How to install license for expired SAP J2EE engine?

I had used evaluation copy of the SAP J2EE engine. This copy works for few days and now the SAP J2EE engine is stopped. After its expiration, we purchased the permanent license.
My question is: how to install license for the expired SAP J2EE engine so that the engine can be started without re-installation?

To install license of the J2EE Engine :
In the Visual Administrator -> Server 0 -> Services -> Licensing Adapter. Then choose tab page Runtime -> Installed Licenses and Install subsequent temporary license.

Error when installing DI:J2EE Engine J00 of SAP system WS3 did not reach st

I am trying to install WAS Dialog Instance,but found error :
first run \Master\IM01_NT_I386\SAPINST\NT\I386\sapinst.exe
then set some parameters as usual and start installation.
when coming to phase 10 of 11:start sap j2ee engine,the log shows as follows:

and at last it gives up,shows:

The problem could be with any of the following.
1>check JDK version you are using. use supported JDK in case if you you don't have
2>check your memory parameters. Notes 597187, 552522
might be of help.
may be the problem could be with the Heap Size.change it to value (ex:1024 MB) and try if it works.
also
3>check whether you started in safe mode. if so, change it to normal mode.
