How to install the Oracle ODBC driver for all NT users

I need to schedule a task on a SQL server running on NT to access an Oracle DB.
I have installed the Oracle ODBC driver on it and it is working well under my NT account.
But the SQL scheduler runs on another NT account and the task failed.
How is it possible to install the Oracle ODBC Driver for all NT users ???
Thanks for your inputs...

The above link is a comprehensive "How to get set up and on my way" that I made for someone else learning Oracle/jdbc. Kind of a self-help resource page. I would start from the beginning and download the newest drivers, then set up your environment,...etc.
hope this helped,

Users can individually change the refresh rate through "Personalise View" in UWL.But we want this to set it for all users(we have 10k portal users).
It was defaultically set to 5 mins for all users. How to change this to 20 mins.

  • Oracle ODBC Driver for Rdb 2.10.11.00 on  Windows 2008 64-bit

    Hello,
Our application runs on Windows 2000 Professional SP4 and connects to RDB databases on Alpha Open/VMS via Oracle ODBC Driver fro Rdb release 2.10.11.00.
We are migrating to Windows Server 2008 64-bit environment.
We tested both recent Rdb ODBC driver releases (3.3.0.0 and 3.3.1.0) but we are getting errors intermittently when the application loads data from certain tables. Trace logs show no errors which could indicate the origin of the issue.
We want to use the old (2.10.11.00) release but it cannot be installed only on the Win 2008 32-bit version.
Can anyone suggest how to install the Oracle ODBC Driver for Rdb release 2.10.11.00 on a Windows 2008 64-bit Server?
    Thanks in advance,

  • Oracle ODBC Driver for Rdb on WinME

The Oracle Universal Installer is not working properly when I try installing the new ODBC driver for Rdb (version 3.0.1.2). The Installer starts, but does not present the NAME field as it has for both Win95 and Win2K. In the destination PATH field is the pathname to the temporary folder I've unzipped the Installer/Driver to and when I change this to an existing folder, i.e., C:\ORAHOME, the Installer informs me that it cannot access the staging area and asks that I check the staging area and destination pathnames.
I have successfully installed the older version 2 driver on ME, but it uses the older installer software. Despite Oracle's claims to the contrary, this new Java-based Installer just doesn't work on ME.
If anyone can help with I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

  • Result Sets with the Microsoft ODBC Driver for Oracle

    Howdy all.
I have an Oracle database that I have migrated from MSSQL2K. My front end is mostly VB, and I have many (hundreds) DLL's that use ADO to access the database and execute stored procedures in the database. I cannot seem to get result sets from the Oracle procedures. I have tried passing a SYS_REFCURSOR as an IN OUT parameter, and I have tried returning a SYS_REFCURSOR in a function. The Microsoft ODBC Driver for Oracle does not seem to handle the ref cursors. If I use the Oracle ODBC driver, then ref cursors are handled sort of magically. Just like the result sets are in MSSQL with the SQL Server ODBC Driver.
The question that I would like to pose to anybody willing to answer is this: Is there any way to use the Microsoft ODBC Driver for Oracle without changing the way I do the database access (using ADO connection/command/recordset objects)? I need the same DLL's to work on top of both MSSQL and Oracle.
I know that what I want to do is possible using the Oracle ODBC driver, but this will take some major changes to some of my DB components. I am trying to stay away from this, but it looks like I am going to have to go that route - that is unless somebody wows me with a good answer to this post.

As you are using Microsoft driver which works in XP and does not on Win 2003 you should post this on microsoft forum.

  • How to select active Oracle ODBC Driver programmatically?

    Hi,
My application creates ODBC DSN to connect with Oracle 10g database server. I need to find out Oracle Driver installed on the system programmatically. I am trying to read KEY_<PRODUCT NUMBER> registry key and eventually searching ORACLE_HOME value. This helps me in searching Oracle Driver in ODBCINST.INI registry key. (Oracle in OraDb10g_home1)
If multiple Oracle clients are installed on the same system, multiple KEY_<PRODUCT NUMBER> registry keys and oracle drivers would be available. I am not sure which and how to select the current active oracle driver.
    Oracle in OraDb10g_home1
    Oracle in OraDb10g_home2
Can anybody help me out? Can I use inventory file (inventory.xml) to determince current active home directory? Reading PATH environment variable to identity active home directory would be tedious.

Please look at following thread for answer.

If this is a type-4 JDBC driver, it could occur if the JDBC

If this is a type-2 JDBC driver, it may also indicate that
the Driver native layers(DBMS client lib or driver DLL)
have not been installed properly on your system
or in your PATH environment variable.
This is most likely caused by one of the following:
    1. The native layer SO, SL, or DLL could not be found.
    2. The file permissions on the native layer SO, SL, or DLL
    have not been set properly.
    3. The native layer SO, SL, or DLL exists, but is either

Hello, Jenny I am glad you found your resolution. I too am having problems isung

    crashing with JVM errors.
    Here are my configurations.
    DBase=Oracle 8.1.7,OS=Win2000, running 6.1 with Portal 4.0
    pool config =
    <JDBCConnectionPool CapacityIncrement="0"

    RefreshMinutes="0" Targets="portalServer"
    TestTableName="WIP_TABLE" URL="jdbc:oracle:oci8:@servername"/>
My classpath sets my classes12.zip file first. My path sets %WEBLOGIC_HOME%\bin\oci817_8
    and %WLCS_ORACLE_HOME%\bin.
Am I setting the right dll and protocol in my .dll? Where can I find documentation

Its not CLASS_PATH it should be CLASSPATH.
when you say oracle\bin and oracle\lib , on what driver is the oracle
folder?I meant to say 'on what drive' not 'on what driver'
you have to specify the full path.
    post your startup script here.

    1. Dont copy this file oci8jdbc.dll, to bin folder. Make sure
    you
    place
<oracle_home>\lib in your PATH before starting the server. Make
    sure
    your
ORACLE_HOME environment varable is set to <oracle_home> folder.
eg. set ORACLE_HOME=c:\ora816 before starting the server.
so you must have done something like
    set ORACLE_HOME=c:\ora816
    set PATH=%ORACLE_HOME%\bin;%ORACLE_HOME%\lib;%PATH%
    2. double check if you set your CLASSPATH something like this,
    CLASSPATH=%ORACLE_HOME%\jdbc\lib\classes12.zip;%CLASSPATH%
in the server startup script just before starting the server.
    3. start the server the connection pool should work.

my weblogic version is 6.1 and oracle is 8.1.6 .
why the thin driver is ok but the oci driver can not work?
I logined in the oracle website and look for the jdbc.but I find
    that
    jdbc
all provide for jdk1.2 or jdk1.1. because the weblogic6.1 based

    To use oracle oci8 driver:
You should have classes12.zip in weblogic classpath.
You should have ocijdbc8.dll in your weblogic path..
You can download ocijdbc8.dll from oracle website.

The only way you can get 9iR1 release software is by asking it to your Oracle representative. The oldest 9i release available for public download is 9iR2.
You could try the administrative 9iR2 client, it can work with 9iR1 releases.

Before attempting a re-install, why don't you try connecting to the same instance using SQL/Plus with the a connect string specifying hostname:1521:SID. If you are not able to connect you need to determine why.
