BangladeshSDF files are used by Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition. SQL CE is not supported for Windows Store Apps/Universal Apps. Only WP Silverlight Apps can use SQL CE. You will have to switch to a different database format.
As far as I know the only DB currently supported for local deployment with Windows Store Apps is SQLite.
This article gives an introduction on how to get started with SQLite in Universal Apps:

How to handle power managment features of Windows Vista
Hi guys
I searched a little bit in the Toshiba Technical Knowledge Base and found very interesting article about the power management features of Windows Vista.
*[How to handle power management features of Windows Vista|http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD84026Q0000R01.htm]*
The point is that you will not find a same Toshiba Power Saver tool on Vista like on the Windows XP notebooks and the power saver settings are a little bit hidden in the Vista Power Saver settings.
But you can also control the certain options like Cooling Method or Power Saving Mode.
I think this document could be interesting for some here in the forum!
Greetings to all!Hi Jayjay
Thanks for posting this here in the forum.
Several days ago I searched for such further power option in Vista.
This document was really, really helpful for me.
Thanks again -
How to use offline map for windows store app using c# and xaml
Hi friends,
I want to integrate offline map in my windows store app but I am not able to achieve that.
Below is my requirement:
When a user wants to go somewhere where she/he doesn't want to use wi-fi or mobile data but wants to use map to assist her/him to roam around. For this I want to give an option to download the map for that region/area before leaving for that place and there
she/he can use map even in offline.
Is it possible that I can achieve this using Bing maps?
If yes then tell me the processes to follow.
If no then can I achieve this using "Here" or by using any other API or by tweaking any way?
Note: I am showing maps in case of online and user can search for directions or any places in that. I am using Bing maps for that.
Thanks,
S.SandeepHi Sandeepmsandy,
There is no available code sample for this scenario. You may write your own.
Step 1: Get pdf URL from sqlite database. Please refer to the following MSDN blog and see a code sample.
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/robertgreen/archive/2012/11/13/using-sqlite-in-windows-store-apps.aspx. Note, you need to retarget the project to 8.1 and then get two sqlite packages from NuGet before building this sample.
Step 2: Use some special classes to get file from serer.
HttpWebRequest can help download small pdf files. For more information to see
https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsapps/en-US/de96a61c-e089-4595-8349-612be5d23ee6/download-file-with-httpwebrequest?forum=winappswithcsharp. It’s easy for use, but if you want to download the larger or many files, it’s recommend to use
BackgroundTransfer namespace. The classes in this namespace provide a power way to transfer files in the background. See a code sample from MSND.

How to distribute my windows phone 8 app and windows store app without publishing in the store
How to distribute my windows phone 8 app and windows store app without publishing in the store
any business license or enterprise license needed..
I am a windows developer talking behalf of my company i.e wipro
I have a question about the enterprise license and we are building an app for the limited users i.e our company employees and users and we do not want to publish in the store
How to release the app?
what are licenses etc needed?Hi,
for developers distributing apps without Publishing in the Store, the sideloding Enterprise key license through volume licensing is required.
Starting May 1, 2014, customers who want to enable sideloading will be able to purchase an Enterprise Sideloading key for $100 through the Open License program.
An unlimited number of devices can be enabled for sideloading using this key.

How can we get a url for a "Meet Now" conference call from within the Windows Store App?
Hi,
Is it possible to get the url for the current meeting / new "Meet Now" call from within the Windows Store app?
You have the option of inviting your current Lync contacts, but I don't see a way of giving a URL to clients that would launch Lync on their device, or take them to the web app.
I can see how to get the link using the Outlook plugin, for pre-scheduled meetings. Is this link always the same and the one that should be used for an impromptu "Meet Now" meeting? It would still be good to know how to get this URL from within
the store app so I can tell clients where to get it.
Some people may be on Windows RT devices and not have access to the plugin in Outlook, and want to start a meeting at short notice and then invite others via email or pasting a link to them elsewhere.
Any help appreciated.
If I have answered your question, please mark it as the correct answer. If I have provided helpful information, please mark it as so.Hi,
Agree with Holger, I check on my Lync Windows Store app and can't find the meeting URL as well.

Can you create a WinRT component written in C# that consists of a library of XAML based controls and then used those controls within a Windows Store app using WinJS or via a JS Cordova plugin for Windows 8.1 & WP8.1?
Is this possible or can you only use a C# based WinRT component that contains a library of XAML controls in XAML/C# based Windows Store apps?
My understanding is that a C# based WinRT component containing non-UI code (i.e. no XAML controls) can be used in a Windows Store app written C#, VB.NET, JavaScript or VC++, but not sure if that principle would work with XAML controls
wrapped via WinRT types. In theory a XAML control is a C# class, so could work, but not sure how would JS code read that and then launch for example a page or user control from/into its HTML based UI?
Sandip AhluwaliaRight. The code in your app is C# code, but the actual Xaml controls (like the rest of the Windows Runtime) are native code. They are projected into each language (C#, VB, C++ in the case of Windows.UI.Xaml) in a way that appears natural for that
language and the interop layer is hidden.
You could expose a Xaml control in a Windows Runtime Component written in any of C#, VB, and C++ to an app written in any of C#, VB, and C++, and the control would appear as a normal C#, VB, or C++ runtime class. This won't
work for Xaml controls in JavaScript, since the HTML window doesn't have the Xaml hosting infrastructure, but for non-UI code you can write a WRC in C#, VB, or C++ and it will appear as a normal JavaScript class to a JavaScript app. -
Integrate existing VB database with windows store app
Hi
Can I integrate a VB Database Access 2007 with a Windows 2008 store app?
If yes, can I have a hyperlink that retrieves a search inside this database and goes directly to a page created by this database?
Imagine that I have an e-book with a table of contents where I have several hyperlinks for a query that shows me a specific poem and image inside a page.
Is there a sample?
thanksHi Rui - there are no APIs that will connect to an Access database directly within a Windows Store app. You can convert the database to SQLite, or provide a web-based interface to the Access database in order to retrieve/update the data.

Windows store app how to load a DLL in local directory or the SDcard
The DLL is notpackaged together with APP,
but by APP download from our company's Web site,
and then placed the DLL
in SDcard or a local directory.(DLL不是和APP一起打包,而是通过APP从公司网站上下载了相应的DLL然后放在SD卡中或APP本地目录中。)
Question(问题)
1、Windows store APP how
to dynamically load a dll in
a directory, and then call
the interface of DLL?(APP如何能动态的加载并调用某一个目录中的DLL呢?)
2、How to manually push a
DLL into the phone?(如何手动把DLL放到手机中?)
Can you share your code of a Demo?We do have
such a demand:
APP Test against
many different devices, each device
provides several DLLs for APP
to perform different tests,
However,
to the APP DLL interface
is the same(such as: start()/end()...).
To test
a type of device, user need to download DLLs of the device
from our website, the only way to support for test
a device. When users
download the DLLs for a device, then they can
select the device
for testing. At this
time
,we can
know the name of the DLLs and load them.
We support
hundreds of devices, each device has a number of
DLL files!!!
we also do it on android and iOS.
If can not achieve the
requirements, we may have to give up
the windows platform -
I want to create a log file in ApplicationData local folder.
m_StorageFile = await ApplicationData.Current.LocalFolder.CreateFileAsync(m_Name.Replace(" ", "_") + ".log",
CreationCollisionOption.OpenIfExists);
First time when my app is launched, the file gets created and logs are written.
When I close my app, and re run the app once again, the log file that was created is now hidden and when i try to call
the code : m_StorageFile = await ApplicationData.Current.LocalFolder.CreateFileAsync(m_Name.Replace(" ", "_") + ".log",
CreationCollisionOption.OpenIfExists);
m_StorageFile is NULL.
How can i prevent the file from becoming Hidden or ReadOnly.

From where can i get the Windows 8 sideload product key and the process how to get it .please explain in detail .
I was able to resolve my issue once I worked with Microsoft Professional Services. Here are the steps needed to deploy a Windows 8 Store app for anyone else looking for help on this.
Create your app package in Visual Studio
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/jj874388.aspx
Create an app certificate using PowerShell as administrator, here is one way to do it.
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/jj835832%28v=vs.85%29.aspx
Install the app on the device
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/jj835832%28v=vs.85%29.aspx
Ensure Device has the correct GP settings
http://blogs.technet.com/b/scd-odtsp/archive/2012/09/27/windows-8-sideloading-requirements.aspx
Install the application on the device
Refer to Sideload the app for user section
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/jj874388.aspx
* If you run your app now you should get an error, this is because you have not installed a Sideloading Key
And the missing piece of the puzzle What is a Sideload key and how can I get one?
* Documentation on this is confusing so here is what I needed to know and found out
Sideload key is a product key that is needed to be added to the device so that it can use Windows 8 apps that are not from the Store
It is not a requirement to have the machine joined to the domain or have Windows Enterprise installed on it. In my case my target was a Windows 8.0 Pro tablet.
You do not need Windows 8.1 to use sideloading it will work on Windows 8.0 as well
You can purchase a key from a Third Party Distributor but you will need to know what to ask for
Ask for a Windows 8 Sideloading Key, Sometimes referred to as a Windows 8 Embedded Sideloading product key
They cost about $100.00 a pop but they sell them as a Volume License so the minimum you can by is 5.
However in my case it turned out that my company had an Enterprise Sideloading License, I just needed to know who to ask and what to ask for.
Once you get your xxxxx-xxxxx- Slideloading key from the distributor here are the steps to installing it on the device (Section 2 Step 3)
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/micham/archive/2014/05/30/sideloading-store-apps-to-windows-8-1-devices.aspx
Once I installed that my application worked.
