How to interact with external database in CQ5

Hi,
I need to interact with external database like SQL or Oracle to store some/fetch some data in CQ5. Can someone pls provide some help regarding the same. I guess I need to do it through JDBC. Please guide me step by step how to do this.
Thanks

Hi,
Bellow you find some references to the documentation related to CQ and DB configuration and developments:

  • How Users Interact with Oracle Database Express Edition in a Network?

Please i just want to know how users can relate or access the Oracle DB xpress on a network. Coming from an oracle enterprise edition background i know when you install oracle on a network, isqlplus for example is centrally loaded meaning you dont need to install oracle on each machine in the network, so users can access the DB from their nodes. I am presently working in a big estate management firm and i want to create a structured database for them, they use excel to store records and want to introduce Oracle.

You can access XE remotely through the browser after following the instructions here:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B25329_01/doc/admin.102/b25107/network.htm#BHCBCFBA
If you are using APEX as the application, you'd need to do that. There may be other firewall consideration though (ie opening the relevant server ports).
[There's no isqlplus anymore, but there is a similar sql worksheet in the Apex development environment).
If you are just using the database as a data store behind, for example, a Java application, then connections will probably be through ODBC/JDBC/OCI and probably need some client installation too.

  • How to interact with database?

    Hi,
I am exploring sampleportal application in Weblogic Portal8.1 SP4. There in login portlet they are using login.jsp file which uses examples.login.DirectorBacking class for login form authentication. DirectorBacking class uses default com.bea.p13n.security.Authentication class’s authenticate method for authentication. I could not understand the basic functionality of Authentication class as how it interacts with the database.
Can we use simple JDBC for the login authentication in login.jsp ?

U can define several authentication realms - which could be RDBMS, LDAP etc.
    Does that answer your question?

  • How can I interact with a Database?

I've got a project I'm working on in my Java class, and I can't find out how to make the program interact with a database. I was wondering if anybody here could help me out at all? My partners and I have already gotten most of the program figured out (but not programmed), and this is giving us a little bit of trouble. Our books don't have this information, and our teacher told us to check here, so here I am. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You need to get a jdbc driver for your database. Your vendor should provide you with one. If not then you can try looking for free implementations of that particular database.
This jdbc driver is used by your program to execute sql statements in the database itself, removing the need for you to handle all the nitty gritty stuff. Kind of like ODBC.
Like the earlier post pointed out, the tutorials is a good place to look at code samples

  • Can oracle database interact with sysbase database in real-time?

There are two database, one is oracle, one is sysbase, sysbase is produce database. My program only can visit oracle database, and can't directly visit sysbase database. My question is whether there is a directly link from oracle database to sysbase database, when I visit oracle, oracle database can interact with sysbase database through this link real time? How to realize above function? Please give plan for it.
    Thanks in advance!
    Best regards,

Yes there is. You have to create heterogeneous connection between these two databases
Take a look at below links:

  • I am having much trouble with the new reminders in IOS7 and how it interacts with Outlook Exchange. Many features lost in the new version.

When I downloaded IOS7, I found that the reminders/task app and how it interacts with Outlook Exchange is much more difficult to use. Some of the issues that I am having are...
    1. Trying to edit my task on my phone is not possible, if the notes are lengthy. When you click on the text to edit data near the top, it will scroll to the bottom and not allow you to edit the text because you cant see it.
    2. Now all of my task are in one long list. I can not move from day to day like we could in previous version IOS6
    3. When I do edit a short task reminder and click done, it crashes and completly goes away. It does save the edit though
    4. You can only add task at the bottom of each days reminders. This is very inconvient and much more difficult than IOS6
    5. There is a major delay or latency when interacting inside of reminders in this version. Much more than IOS6. It is very unstable and quirky.
I have never seen Apple take a step back with a product until now. I am a huge Apple fan and always will be, so I am hoping they make enhancements to fix these issue. It is a big time prodcutivity killer.
Thanks for any and all help you can give.

Some power supplies or designed so that if there is a short or overload they shut them selfs off and some will not turn back on. Some have a relay that will click back on and work, some you have to  cycle the power switch. Those that won't come back on will have to be replaced. I'm not saying that yours is that type as I have no way of telling. But if you have a friend who will loan you a good power supply you might try it. As someone else said just turning off the power will not darn all the power from some motherboards. To test this turn off your power supply than turn on the computer with the start botton. Mine will flash the lights and fans will start to spin than die. So every time you turn off computer to work on it. After turning off PSU hit the start botton to drian any power left in it before working on it. Also do this after unplugging it just to make sure.

  • Do migrated forms still interact with EBS database?

Once you have completed a EBS forms conversion into APEX, are you able to have the new APEX applications forms read/write from the EBS database?
For instance ,say your wanting to take currently used forms XYZ out of EBS and put them into APEX so you can create a better UI and such for them or just give the users better use of the data. Can the EBS users then use those forms rather then the EBS ones to do their same day to day functions?
I'm just not seeing anything regarding how the APEX forms would interact with the EBS data tables, but i could be overlooking something.
A simple Yes/No would be great, a yes w/ some pointers or tags to documentation would get ya some bonus points!
    Thanks,
    Jeremy

A good example could be a custom form for some module that you built using Oracle Forms for the 11i stack. Maybe it maintains data in a custom table that you use for reporting or extension purposes.
You know that although R12 supports Forms in the techs tack, its going to be de-supported in the future in favor of ADF/Fusion/Next Java technology. You don't have a lot of java experience in your shop and want to retain the pl/sql developers you have, so you decide you will use Apex for your custom form development from now on instead of forms or OAF.
Apex is really no different than any other framework (no matter what anyone will lead you to believe). Its great for interactive applications, forms, read-only..etc. So if you can do it in java, you can do it in Apex. I completely agree that you absolutely do not want to modify the EBS forms in any way - in fact by doing so you are pretty much de-supporting yourself as support won't touch anything that didnt come from Oracle directly.

  • Connecting AIR with external database

Is it possible to connect AIR application to the external database in MySQL technology?

Are you trying to connect to a MySQL database on a web server somewhere? If so, by far the easiest way to do so is to use some sort of application server layer (e.g. PHP, ColdFusion, Java) on the web server, and have the AIR application call the PHP (or whatever) code to get the data. That is the approach that all the links Greg has given you are talking about.
Of course, in order to make that work you need to know enough PHP/Java/ColdFusion to write that middle layer. In the example you're asking about, the information it wants to know is the name of the server that the MySQL database is running on, and the MySQL username and password for the MySQL account that your PHP code is supposed to use. There are tons of resources on the web for writing PHP code that accesses MySQL, so you'll find much more and better information in other places than what you'll find in the Adobe AIR forums.
However, maybe you want to have the MySQL server running directly on the user's computer rather than on a web server somewhere. In that case you would have a few options:
Run a web server and application server (e.g. Apache and PHP) on the user's computer and use those to connect between the AIR application and the MySQL server.
Write Java code to communicate between the MySQL server and the AIR app, and call that code using Merapi (http://merapiproject.net/)
Run the MySQL server on the user's computer and call the server directly from AIR using ActionScript. While there is no built-in support for MySQL in AIR, there is a third-party (open source) library for calling MySQL directly from ActionScript available here: http://code.google.com/p/assql/. I haven't tested it so I have no idea how complete it is, but it's a solution to consider.
However, in all three cases you're depending on some external pieces that have to be installed and loaded separate from your AIR application. (For instance, most users probably don't want a MySQL server running on their computer all the time if they aren't using your AIR app all the time -- so you'd want a way to start and stop the server, which also couldn't be done directly in AIR.) People do write applications that use external resources like this, but it's not the easiest thing to implement.
If you're really wanting to run the database locally, the best solution (assuming it works for your needs) is to use AIR's built in local SQL database engine (based on SQLite). If you've looked at that option already, and found that it doesn't work for you, I'd be interested to know more about what you're trying to accomplish that you can't accomplish with the AIR local database.

    Hi everyone,
I have one application, which needs to save and load data from/to an external database,SQL server.I have no idea on how to implement this. But with my knowledge I managed to create DSs and using new data connection wizard, some how I managed to list the fields in the Data View.BUT i still worrying about the way i did is rigt or wrong?.. how can i save and load data to sql server from Adobe LC..Please help me

You created the data source on the app server which is the first step. Now you can use the JDBC service to query the database:

  • How Client interact with Server in regular interval

    Hi friends,'
I want to develop a chat server where the user should sent the request to server in background(as server can not sent response unless the request appears). So on regular request from the Client the server check the updation in database and sent the correspong message to user.
How can i do this where the Client should interact with server in regular interval?
Is there any other way to accomplish this ,any reference guide /tutorial to develop this ?
    Regards,
    Sachin Warang.

You could add an <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="5;http://yourhost/context/servlet/"> to the HTML which will refresh the page every 5 seconds (change the 5 to 10 for every 10 seconds, etc.). The other way is to set up a JavaScript timer and use an XmlHttpRequest to make an asynchronous call to the server and update the HTML dynamically (using DOM) when a response is received (AJAX). Lastly, you could implement the client as an Applet, which gives you a much richer feature set and is a lot cleaner (having half of your app in JavaScript/DHTML is kind of messy).
There are some vendors, such as IceSoft (http://www.icesoft.com/) producing JSF components that do the AJAX stuff transparently, so you just code a normal JSF app using their components and wire up to bean action methods where you need to.

  • Interact with extern process by Runtime.exec()

    Hi,
I want interact with a extern process by Runtime.exec(), but I don't Know the way for introduce the params required for the extern process.
So, Is posible, interact with the extern process from Java?
    Thanks

Exactly, I would like to know how exec can pass a PIN
number when the proccess already has been launched. Sounds like you're doing it through the process' stdin. Read that article I linked.
You'll have to call Process.getOutputStream() or whatever that method is. To you it's an OutputStream, to the process, it's input. You'll write the stuff to that stream that you'd type to the command line. If you want to get that from the user interactively, you'll do it like you would any interactive user input in any Java program--get it by reading System.in or from some GUI element, and then take that and write it to the process' stream.

  • How to Link to External Database

I can't figure out a good way to keep track of photos within Lightroom that I submit for contests, sales, etc. I could make comments in the caption metadata field, but that would mess up my caption field and is not that flexible. I could color code, but that's very limited. It seems like the ideal way would be to create an external database with something such as Microsoft Access. Using  the Filename as the primary field, I would link it to additional fields, date submitted, where sent to, type (contest, stock sale, gift, etc.), price obtained, published date, etc. Then I could see the history of any given image, run queries for all images submitted to a particular place where amount is > $0, etc.
As this is just a hobby and the numbers are small, I could just enter all the data by hand, but if I ever enjoy a lot of commerical success it would be nice if the database integrated with Lightroom. Ideally the queries run would not only show the Filename, but also show photos, perhaps as a Collection in Lightroom. It seems there must be professionals that track such information. Perhaps there is a third party program that does this. I'd appreciate any suggestions.
    Dan

I think Access would be better in the event a given photo is used multiple times. Suppose a particular photograph sold at iStockPhoto.com for $1 on 22 occasions, at a local gallery as a 5 x 7" print for $2 on 14 occasions, as an 8 x 10" print for $8 on 9 occasions, and on one's own web page for $3 on 9 occasions, plus published in Pop Photo on 4/17/03. To make custom fields in Lightroom would be onerous, and it couldn't do the math for you. In Access one could use one to many tables (tblPrintSize, tblWebSite, tblSellerType, etc.) to track this fairly easily. The only time consuming part would be entering each sale if one had a lot of them. Of course one could choose to enter quarterly or yearly sales instead if desired.
Queries and reports would show where one's income is derived, what formats sell best, etc. It might help in tax preparation.
This may be more power than professional photographers would ever want. It's probably a fantasy that won't come true that it will ever be an issue for me, but I like to be proactive on data management before it becomes unmanageable.
