  • How to kill an app which hangs

    How to kill an app which hangs or takes a long time to load?
    As an example I opened the IE, choose settings --> delete history
    the status is: 'Deleting browsing history' for the last 20 minutes and I don't really know how to kill the IE or restart it? The back button doesn't work in this case.
    same happens with other apps, like games when there's a limited internet access. Apps may try to load and the back button doesn't work in this case.

    It's not that there's no response, cos I can switch apps and other apps respnd. It's just that a specific app hangs (or loads data or whatever) which takes too long for me to wait for and I'd like to kill it.
    So the question is - if the phone is generally responsive but one app in the background needs to be killed, can I somehow do this not rebooting the whole device?
    edit: just to add: the back button while hold get's me to the app list and I can switch apps and work with others.

    How to kill the hanged frame in swing?
    I am opening multiple JFrame and working on them.These frames are plcaed in JDesktopPane.

    I need to kill the hanged frame.
    Assist me.

    am opening multiple JFrame and working on them.These frames are plcaed in JDesktopPaneWell, a JFrame, can't be added to a JDesktopPane, so your question doesn't even make sense.
    As was suggested earlier, if your GUI is unresponsive, then that means you are blocking the GUI EDT and the GUI can't respond to events. Don't do this.
    Read the Swing tutorial on Concurrency to understand why this happens and to learn the proper way to write GUI code so it won't happen.

  • How to kill Forms Runaway Process using 95% CPU and running for 2 hours.

    We had a situation at E-Business Suite customer (using Oracle VM server) where some of Form processes were not being cleared by form timeout settings automatically.
    Also when user exits the form session from front end, the linux form process (PID) and DB session did not exit properly, so they got hung.
    They were spiking CPU and memory usage and causing e-business suite to perform slowely and ultimately causing VM host to reboot the production VM guest (running on Linux).
    We could see the form processes (PIDs) using almost 100% cpu with "top" command and running for a long time.
    Also we verified those Form Sessions did not exist in the application itself.
    ie. Using from Grid Control -> OAM-> Site Map -> Monitoring (tab) -> "Form Sessions".
    It means that we could safely kill that form process from Linux using "kill -9 <PID>" command.
    But that required a continuous monitoring and manual DBA intervention as customer is 24x7 customer.
    So, I wrote a shell script to do the following;
    •     Cron job runs every half an hour 7 days a week which calls this shell script.
    •     Shell script runs and tries to find "top two" f60webmx processes (form sessions) using over 95% cpu with 2 minutes interval.
    •     If no process is found or CPU% is less than 95%, it exits and does nothing.
    •     If top process is found, it searches for its DB session using apps login (with hidden apps password file - /home/applmgr/.pwd).
    a.     If DB session is NOT found (which means form process is hung), it kills the process from unix and emails results to <[email protected]>
    b.     If DB session is found, it waits for 2 hours so that form process times automatically via form session timeout setting.
    It also emails the SQL to check the DB session for that form process.
    c.     If DB session is found and it does not timeout after 2 hours,
    it kills the process from unix (which in turn kills the DB session). Output is emailed.
    This are the files required for this;
    1. Cron job which calls the shell script looks like this;
    # Kill form runaway process, using over 95% cpu having no DB session or DB session for > 2hrs
    00,30 * * * * /home/applmgr/forms_runaway.sh 2>&1
    2. SQL that this script calls is /home/applmgr/frm_runaway.sql and looks like;
    set head off
    set verify off
    set feedback off
    set pagesize 0
    define form_client_PID = &1
    select count(*) from v$session s , v$process p, FND_FORM_SESSIONS_V f where S.AUDSID=f.audsid and p.addr=s.paddr and s.process='&form_client_PID';
    3. Actual shell script is /home/applmgr/forms_runaway.sh and looks like;
    # Author : Amandeep Singh
    # Description : Kills runaway form processes using more than 95% cpu
    # and Form Session with no DB session or DB session > 2hrs

    If you have the same problem with some other unix and DB processes, the script can be easily modified and used.
    But use this with thorough testing first (by commenting out <kill -9 $PID1> lines.
    Good luck.

  • How to kill aprocess

    Hi,
    could anybody tell me how to kill a process which is runnuing on unix OS.
    actually I have an RMI server, and I want to write an applet or some thing simillar to stop this server.
    So I need to know it is pid on the server to kill it.
    Any body has an idea??

  • How to kill a process chain in an intermediate step...?

    How to kill a process chain in an intermediate step...?
    I have tried doing it using SM37... but still the chain is hanging....
    Please help ASAP...
    Regards
    Sneha

    Hi Sneha,
    If its a loading process then:
    1. Go to monitor & make its overall status RED.
    2. Go to the target & make the QM status RED.
    3. Since its loading data to BW, its R/3 will be active even if you make any status RED in BW.
    4. Cancel its corresponding R/3 job. U'll get its R/3 job from monitor>Header tab>Job name. Copy that job name& go to R/3 side>sm37>in Job name add B*followed by the job name copied & then delete the Active job.
    Once this is done then your loading process will anyhow stop further stopping the Process chian.
    If your job is other than loading, then simply go to that process chain & remove the link between the active process nad the next process after cancelling the active job (as mentioned in the various replies for your question).
    Give some time to update the staus of that cancelled job in Db, because even if you cancel any active job, it requires some time to refresh it updated status. Once it is cancelled you can rejoin the link between the proceses and reactivate & schedule your process chain.
    hope it'll help

  • How to clear a form

    Hi,
    since I've received no answer to my earlier question yet, I try to ask it again.
    I have a form to input data. The primary key of the new data record is created from a sequence. If I open the form the first time, everything is right. But if I save the new record and open the form again, the afore entered data are in the input fields and instead of "create" occurs "apply changes". I guess, the form gets the primary key of the saved data record instead of a new primary key from sequence. Where can I have an effect on that?
    The application is on the Oracle workspace "GILLETTEDH" and the application is 25515. The form I talk about is on tab "Input Form" (page 2).

    Bettina,
    I wasn’t referring to the processes or branches on the form page. You should keep them just as they were generated by the wizard. The branch I was talking about is the one that takes you to the form page. This is typically a report page or some kind of menu page. If you use the form & report wizard, then you’ll get that pre-build. The create button takes you to the form page and resets the form page session state and displays the form in create mode. The report link takes you to the form page while supplying a key to query data and displays the forum page in edit mode. So it depends on how you call the form page.
    If you just want to keep adding data though, i.e. create a record, return to page 2 and create another record, then resetting session state for page 2 and branching back to page 2 when clicking on create would be the right thing to do. Try creating a reset session state page process on page 2 and make it conditional on clicking “Create”.
    Also, when looking at your form, I found that your page process to generate the PK is currently set to “Never”. With that setting you won’t be able to create new records. You should make that process conditional on clicking on “Create” as well.
    You also may want to look into using before-insert triggers for generating the primary key. This would be a cleaner approach to generating this key than having a page process. By using triggers, the primary key would be generated no matter how to records gets inserted, i.e. by using this page, direct insert statement or another client interface.
    Hope this helps,
    Regards,
    Marc

  • How to run the form that is only installed on a PC and not using a server?

    Hi
    I am new to Oracle and have taken the forms class. But I do not understand how to run the form from my PC using XP windows. (Do not have access to a server).
    I have started the OC4J, made sure the listener was started, compiled the form and then when I run it, it automatically goes to the HTTP:
    ERROR: res://ieframe.dll/acr_depnx_error.htm#,http://kevin:8889/forms/frmservle
    I connected to the database correctly. I can process a report and it does nor try to access the internet. My only issue is running the form. I verified it compiled.
    Sorry for a basic question. Could someone please help, I tried reviewing other questions, but not sure if they are connecting to a server or not.
    I see webutil but is it required if I don't have a server? Thank you in advance.

    Regardless of the version, it appears that you may not have configured the Builder. Do the following:
    1. Open the Builder
    2. From the menu, select Edit > Preferences > Runtime
    3. In the box labeled "Application Server URL:", enter a local URL needed to run a form OR click the button labeled "Reset to Default". If you decide to manually enter a value, it would looks something like this:
    http://localhost:8889/forms/frmservlet
    4. In the field labeled "Web Browser Location:", enter the path and executable to your preferred browser. So for example if IE is your browser of choice the entry would most likely look like this:
    C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE
    5. Click on OK and retest.
    By the way, you can manually enter a URL in the browser. Clicking the RunForm button from the Builder is strictly optional. To run the "test" form directly from the browser enter the following into the browser's address field:
    http://localhost:8889/forms/frmservlet?form=test
