Unfortunately, it is not possible to have direct access to this system from outside of Oracle.
This problem refers to an issue that was fixed in 3.5.3 and 3.6. Let me know (directly by email) what you want to know about this problem. I will try to get you the information that you are looking for.

If I have a codetable in database that has new or modified values I have to refresh the codetable in my J2EE application.
Most effective way would be send a message to initiate a table reload from J2EE app, but I don't know how to do this.
Now I have a background thread that regular reads the table and looks for changes.

In this example, the messages are going to Oracle BAM.. your message could go to your J2EE application listening to its own topic/queue.
an alternative idea.
you could also just cache your lookup table with something like Oracle Coherence and than try to ensure that all changes to the lookup go through Coherence, so that you won't need to do notification from the db up to the application. the application and the lookup data management tool would be using the data grid for management of the lookup table data, and the data grid (coherence) would persist the lookup data changes back to the db.

I'm trying to make a Bug Database

Hi there,
I am trying to make my own bug database app using Objective-C(I will try and work out the Core Data part later - sticking to the code now).
So here goes.
I have created the code to add a column;

[tableView addTableColumn:newColumn];
That works. But I have two questions;
1. How do I clear the table of all columns on startup?
2. How do I add contents to the table! I don't have a data source, I just want to add things when in the application.

P.S - I can't understand why there is a formatting issue in that code.

The tutorial is based on having a list of "VersionReleases"... and each VersionRelease can potentially have many CommitMessages... so the interface has the two table views. One table view shows you the list of all the VersionReleases and then when you've selected one of the VersionReleases the second table view shows you a list of all the CommitMessages associated with the selected VersionRelease. In addition, each CommitMessage has several pieces of data associated with it (the message, creationDate, and isCommitted attributes). And when you select one of the "CommitMessages" from the second table view then it's data items display in the remaining fields.
But based on your screen shot it appears that you want to create a list of Bugs to track... each individual bug item will have one notes field, one date founded and one platform (and also one bug name). But there doesn't appear to be a list of several items associated with each bug (like in the tutorial where there's a list of CommitMessages associated with each VersionRelease). So there doesn't appear to be any reason to split the information related to a single bug report into two different entities.
So (assuming I'm understanding your screen shot correctly) in essence you don't need the "VersionRelease" entity. Your interface looks like it could be handled with one entity similar to the "CommitMessage" entity from the tutorial. Sort of like you removed the "VersionMessage' table view from the left side of the tutorial window and then moved the "CommitMessage" table view from the top right of the window and instead placed it along the left side of the window where the first table view used to be... that gives you essentially what your screen shot displays and eliminates the need for the two entities.
Your "BugEntry" entity could contain a name, notes, date and platform. The table view on the left of your window would display a list of all the bug names (like the "CommitMessage" table view displays a list of commit messages in the tutorial), then depending on which one was selected the remaining fields would display the notes, date and platform of the selected bug.

You should be looking into com.sap.security.api.IUserFactory, methods newUser(String) which gives you and IUserMaint and commitUser(IUserMaint, IUserAccount) -- IUserAccount can be obtained using com.sap.security.api.IUserAccountFactory, method newUserAccount(String)

If the data is on a remote server (for example, PHP running on a web server, talking to a MySQL server) then you do this in an AIR application the same way you would do it with any Flex application (or ajax application, if you're building your AIR app in HTML/JS).
That's a broad answer, but in fact there are lots of ways to communicate between Flex and PHP. The most common and best in most cases is to use AMFPHP (http://amfphp.org/) or the new ZEND AMF support in the Zend Framework.

How to look at mail queue

I have installed Collaboration Suite 9.0.3, and am curious to know how to look at the mail queue on the OCS server, and more specifically, how do I delete emails in the queue? Somebody apparently found us during the installation of this server before I could lock it down with spam rules, and I have a ton of junk emails stuck in the queue that won't go anywhere. How do I get rid of those messages? They are literally using up the server resources after about 5 hours of the server trying to send them.

Well, I guess that's part of the problem too. I'm not sure I have emails in the queue. I have the OCS server set up with the relay host set to another server on the network running sendmail. If I stop the smtp_out service on the OCS server, and then start it again, I see a bunch of messages being sent to the relay server to be delivered, most of them spam as far as I can tell. The sendmail server is set to reject those messages, so it does not try to deliver them and therefore does not put them in the queue on that server. However, regardless of restarting smtp_out, restarting Unified Messaging, restarting OCS, or restarting the entire server, those messages continue to remain in what I'm assuming is the queue on the OCS server. Does that make any sense? From what I can get from the documentation, they must be sitting in the mailstore database somewhere, and I'm wondering if there is a query I can run to at least look and see what is there, and preferable delete them. Otherwise, I guess I have to wait 5 days for the server to finally give up.
Any ideas?

Using Coherence and Oracle Database as the CacheStore

We are working on implementing a solution using Coherence and Oracle Database as the CacheStore. We initially implemented the Cache as a distributed-scheme which in turn uses the backing-map-scheme. We are trying to introduce transaction management and I used a scheme-ref in a transactional-scheme to point to an already existing distributed-scheme. However when I bring up the server, my custom coherence-cache-config.xml file is not recognized and Coherence comes up with the default setting. Given below is the snippet of my configuration file.
1)     I would like to understand why the below configuration doesn’t work and am I doing it the right way? If not, what is the correct way of doing it?
2)     There are a multiple transaction management options given in the documentation. Which are the ones that will work with a distributed-scheme and read-write-backing-map-scheme?
3)     If transactional-schemes cannot work with distributed-scheme, what is the best way to have a distributed cache with a oracle database as a cache store?

If you look at the documentation for transactional-scheme here: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24290_01/coh.371/e22837/appendix_cacheconfig.htm#BHCIABHA
you will see that it says The transactional-scheme element defines a transactional cache, which is a specialized distributed cache. That means that a transactional-scheme is already a distributed-scheme.
You will see from the same documentation above that there is no way in a transactional-scheme to configure things like cache-stores or listeners or even the backing-map-scheme as these are not supported on a transactional-scheme - so you cannot use a cache store.
Personally I would not use transactional-scheme unless you have some really big reason to do so - the restrictions far outweigh any perceived advantage of having a transaction. There are better ways to build applications so they do not require transactions, that is what we have been doing for years with Coherence so far, and there is no real reason to change that.

How to batch upload PDF files into database BLOB

Hello.
I have a requirement to batch upload PDF files into BLOB column of an Oracle 8.1.7 table from Forms 6i Web. The content of the blob column (ie. the PDF content) MUST be displayable from all client software (eg. Oracle Web forms, HTML forms, etc.)
Our environment is
Middle-tier is 9iAS on Windows/2000
Database is Oracle 8.1.7.0.0 on VMS
Oracle Web Forms 6i Patch 10
Basically my Oracle web form program will display a list of PDF files to upload and then the user can click on the <Upload> button to do the batch upload. I have experimented the following approaches but with no luck.
1. READ_IMAGE_FILE forms built-in = does NOT work because it cannot read PDF file. I got error FRM-47100: Cannot read image file
2. OCX and OLE form item = cannot use this because it does NOT work on the Web. I got error FRM-41344 OLE object not defined
3. I cannot use DBMS_LOB to do the load because the PDF files are not in the database machine.
4. Metalink Note 1682771.1 (How to upload binary documents back to database blob column from forms). When I used this, I got ORA-6502 during the hextoraw conversion. In using this solution, I have downloaded a bin2hex.exe from the Google site. I've noticed that when I looked at the converted HEX file, each line has the character : (colon) at the beginning of each line. I know the PDF file has been converted correctly to HEX format because when I convert the HEX file back to BIN format using hex2bin.exe, I'm able to display the converted bin file in Acrobat Reader. When I removed the : (colon) in the HEX file, I did NOT get the ORA-6502 error but I CANNOT display the file in Acrobat Reader. It gives an error "corrupted file".
5. upload facility in PL/SQL Web toolkit - I tried to automatically submit the html form (with htp.p) but it does NOT load the contents of the file. I called the URL from Oracle forms using web.show_document. There seems to be issues with Oracle Web forms (JInitiator) and HTML (+ htp.p).
The other options I can think of at this point are:
1. Use SQL*Loader to do the batch upload via SQL*Net connection and use HOST() built-in from Oracle Webforms to execute SQL*Loader from the 9iAS.
2. Write a Visual Basic program that reads a binary file and output the contents of the file into a byte array. Then build a DLL that can be called from Oracle webforms 6i via ORA_FFI. I don't prefer this because it means the solution will only work for Windows.
3. Write a JSP program that streams the PDF file and insert the contents of the PDF file into blob column via JDBC. Call JSP from forms using web.show_document. With this I have to do another connection to the database when I load the file.
4. Maybe I can use dbms_lob by using network file system (NFS) between the application server and VMS. But this will be network resource hungry as far as I know because the network connection has to be kept open.

Looking to idenify how Oracle Database Client for OpenVMS communicates with database server and whether the protocol used is secure. Im getting an error when i open a form from system administrator responsibility saying that table doesnot exist.
My basic doubt is, how to know which table in the database a form is accessing.

I was reading through the release notes for 2.4.16 and saw a reference to bug #16288 might have bearing on a problem I'm having. Would anyone know where I could find a detailed description of this bug? Also, if I find something that looks like a bug in the Berkeley DB XML, where would I send my report?

How to delete archivelog file at standby database

I'm running Physical Standby Database on ASM. At standby database, I can see all logs using asmcmd:

This appears related to Bug 3298797 that was supposed to be fixed in 10.2.0.1. The workaround is to switch over to the standby, register the standby and then switch back.

You cannot use "Logical Standby".
You are allowed to use Fast Start Failover (FSFO) but SAP Support is not provided.
You can use Data Guard Broker.
You can use Maximum Performance Mode, Maximum Availability Mode and Maximum Protection Mode.
In the case of Maximum Availability and Maximum Protection, you must pay particular attention to a fast network connection in order to avoid performance problems.
Maximum Protection causes the primary database to terminate if problems occur in the standby database.
