How to open a package body in Oracle sql developer..any shortcut for that

I need another way to get to my package body. I'm on a locked down system, so the only way I can reference anything is if I already know the name of it. I accidentally overwrote my text document that I was using to work on it and I closed out of the package body in sqldeveloper. There must be a command, like an alter or some such. Anyone know the old fashioned way of looking at a package?

Edited by: user13373417 on 07-Jul-2010 09:06It appears you don't have a very clear understanding of how the client and the server are configured to communicate with one another.
    ============
    A couple of important points.
First, the listener is a server side only process. It's entire purpose in life is to receive requests for connections to databases and set up those connections. Once the connection is established, the listener is out of the picture. It creates the connection. It doesn't sustain the connection. One listener, running from one oracle home, listening on a single port, will serve multiple database instances of multiple versions running from multiple homes. It is an unnecessary complexity to try to have multiple listeners. That would be like the telephone company building a separate switchboard for each customer.
Second, the tnsnames.ora file is a client side issue. It's purpose is for address resolution - the tns equivalent of the 'hosts' file further down the network stack. The only reason it exists on a host machine is because that machine can also run client processes.
Assume you have the following in your tnsnames.ora:
    larry =
      (DESCRIPTION =
        (ADDRESS_LIST =
          (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = myhost)(PORT = 1521))
        (CONNECT_DATA =
          (SERVICE_NAME = curley)
)Now, when you issue a connect, say like this:
$> sqlplus scott/tiger@larrytns will look in your tnsnames.ora for an entry called 'larry'. Next, tns sends a request to (PORT = 1521) on (HOST = myhost) using (PROTOCOL = TCP), asking for a connection to (SERVICE_NAME = curley).
Where is (HOST = myhost) on the network? When the request gets passed from tns to the next layer in the network stack, the name 'myhost' will get resolved to an IP address, either via a local 'hosts' file, via DNS, or possibly other less used mechanisms. You can also hard-code the ip address (HOST = 123.456.789.101) in the tnsnames.ora.
Next, the request arrives at port 1521 on myhost. Hopefully, there is a listener on myhost configured to listen on port 1521, and that listener knows about SERVICE_NAME = curley. If so, you'll be connected.
    What can go wrong?
First, there may not be an entry for 'larry' in your tnsnames. In that case you get "ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified" No need to go looking for a problem on the host, with the listener, etc. If you can't place a telephone call because you don't know the number (can't find your telephone directory (tnsnames.ora) or can't find the party you are looking for listed in it (no entry for larry)) you don't look for problems at the telephone switchboard.
Maybe the entry for larry was found, but myhost couldn't be resolved to an IP address (say there was no entry for myhost in the local hosts file). This will result in "ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist"
Maybe there was an entry for myserver in the local hosts file, but it specified a bad IP address. This will result in "ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist"
Maybe the IP was good, but there is no listener running: "ORA-12541: TNS:no listener"
Maybe the IP was good, there is a listener at myhost, but it is listening on a different port. "ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error"
Maybe the IP was good, there is a listener at myhost, it is listening on the specified port, but doesn't know about SERVICE_NAME = curley. "ORA-12514: TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor"

  • Editing views in Oracle SQL Developer

    Hi All,
I have only just downloaded Oracle SQL Developer and have vreated a view. Now I want to be able to go back to that view and edit. When I right click on the view, it gives the option to edit but my scripts to edit isn't there, morre or less telling me to start all ove r again.
Can some one help on this or am I just to new to the program.
    Many thanks
    Cube60

    Hi,
I don't seem to get waht you mean. When I right click on my view, then I choose edit, then on the first tab, Entire SQL query, mine comes up as blank.
When inserting new records on a table with its primary keys based on sequence numbers, it does not automatically pick the nextval in the sequencce.
For example, before downloading SQL Developer, I used to work in SQLplus and I have created records and have now moved them from that table to history table for records purpose. Lets say I have moved or deleted records with empid 8 -101 to a history table without a link between my source table and my destination table. The next record I should be allowed to enter in SQL Developer should be 102 and not empid 9 as it presently does.
    SQL> select seq_empid.currval from dual;
    CURRVAL
    101
Any comments or way round this?
    Thanks

  • How to show Primary_key in Column Tab - Oracle SQL Developer 2.1.1.64

How to show Primary_key in Column Tab or It bug? i can not see. thank you for answer.

This was removed for performance reasons, but a lot of us asked for it to go back in.
Don't know if it is currently planned, so better request this at the SQL Developer Exchange, so other users can vote and add weight for possible sooner implementation.

  • How to abort a running process in Oracle SQL Developer?

Is there a keystroke combination I can use? Thanks!

I had a problem earlier today when I was running some code with > 50,000 lines and it kept on bringing up the "Enter substitution variable" box, which would not allow me to click anything else and once I clicked cancel I didn't have enough time to get to the red x before the next box appeared. Although this happened a bunch of times eventually there was enough time for me to get to the red x and change the code, but that's why I was wondering if they was a keystroke combination.

  • Pivot Dynamic for Query in Oracle SQL DEVELOPER ??

    Hi
I have the following question, someone who has a dynamic pivot.
I need a dynamic query that is that when the transfer column to row do receiving any type declared as these can change data.
    Example:
    ID_PROJECT
    PROJECT STAGES
    DATE
    12345
    Requirement Analysis
    17-01-2013
    12345
    Quotation
    20-01-2013
    12345
    Project Preparation
    29-01-2013
    12345
    Model Verification
    04-02-2013
    12345
    Closed requirement
    10-02-2013
    23456
    Building and Unit Tests
    With dynamic pivot:
    ID_PROJECT
    Requirement Analysis
    Quotation
    Project Preparation
    Model Verification
    Closed requirement
    12345
    17-01-2013
    20-01-2013
    29-01-2013
    04-02-2013
    10-02-2013
I mean that in this case the stages of the project will be changing.

    Hello,
Do you want to do this in an SQL - Developer application-setting or by using any SQL / PLSQL block or both ?

    Hi Florian,
I believe if SAP does not want the table to be maintained manually it has done so for a purpose (may be i am wrong).
And for your observation on maintaining the table through SE16N this is because in the table attributes it must be "Entries can be maintained".

  • Exported CSV files are locked by Oracle SQL Developer 2.1.0.63

Whenever I export my query result into a CSV file, the resulting file is always locked for editing by Oracle SQL Developer 2.1.0.63.
Have anybody encountered the same problem? Do you know how can I report this as a bug to Oracle?

I got it too if I left SQl Developer open then go to Excel to edit my CSV - got message 'table_export.csv is locked for editing by another user'. If I close SQL Developer then open the file, it works. Seems SQL Developer's holding onto the file after creation.
Bugs are being reported in this forum.

  • Can I use Oracle SQL Developer to "Move" data?

    Hello,
I'm new to Oracle and I'm trying to use Oracle SQL Developer to export data from one table (on server A) to another table (on sever B). I'm able to create a .ldr file but I don't know how to use the .ldr file in Oracle SQL Developer? I would appreciate any help you can provide.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
The name of tables are different ?
If I understood then try this below:
    e.g:
    C:\> exp user/password@connectionA file=maytable.dmp tables=SAFETYADMIN_TBL_0022_43
    C:\> imp user/password@connectionB file=mytable.dmp full=y
After this import, then you can:
    [pre]
    C:\>sqlplus user/password@connectionB
    SQL> insert into SAFETYUSER_TBL_0022_44
         select * from SAFETYADMIN_TBL_0022_43;
SQL> drop table SAFETYADMIN_TBL_0022_43;Feedback if this is not that you want.
    Cheers

  • How to maintain entry in V_T160M_CS

    Hi,
Can anybody help me to know, how to maintain entry in table V_T160M_CS?
    Raj

    Hi Raj,
    Have you tried OPJB.
    1.'New entries'.
    2. Enter version as 000, application area (the first two digits of the message no, for BOM it would be CO ), & message no.
3 Under category maintain as E Or W.
Check if it work. So far I know you can not update Change Message type of BOM from customizing.

  • How to make entry for transit loss in the system

    Hello to all,
I am having an issue with one subCon material.
    Suppose,
Material A is the product required of 3000 MT Qty.
SubCon vendor have sent that qty, but there is a transit loss of 500 MT.
How to make entry for this transit loss in the system.
    regards,
    Anisha

correct me if i am wrong-
    ur scenario is
    for making material A ,
3000 MT of material B required.
but for producing A vendor uses 3500MT of B
solution : if this ia the case then u can overwrite the value of B at GRN from 3000MT to 3500MT.
    OR
    ur scenario is -
    u require material A of 3000MT
    vendor sends u 3000MT
    but actualy u recieve 2500MT
and u have to pay for 3000MT as per bill
solution : if this is ur scenario then.
prerequisite-activate direct posting to G/L and material at MIRO
Path - SPRO->MM->LIV->activate direct posting to G/L and material at MIRO.
    now procedure is -
step 1) do GR for 2500MT
step2) in LIV pay to vendor for 3000MT for that put 500 qty in material tab and the relavent amount.
in this way loss in transite will be book on inventory.
    regards,

  • How to maintain EOIO for JMS to multiple webservices scenario

    Hi,
    I have a requirement that
how to maintain EOIO for JMS to multiple webservices scenario.
JMS queue has multiple messages, each message has to be sent to either of 2 receivers.
How to maintain EOIO in case, when there are 2 receivers.
    Regards
    Sekhar

    Hi,
since messages are split between 2 webservices receivers, each would have its own SOAP adapter.
So if order of messages in the JMS queues is M1, M2, M3 and M4 . There is a field based on which split happens.
Say, if M1 and M3 have to go Webservice1 (will have its own mapping)
and M2 and M4 have to go Webservice2. (will have its own mapping)
we'll have two receivers in the receiver determination and hence two Interface determinations.
    The result should be
    M1 delivered to Webservice1
    M2 delivered to Webservice2
    M3 delivered to Webservice1
    M4 delivered to Webservice2
How will we maintain EOIO in this case?
    Regards,
    Balaji.M
