I'm inserting a JLabel into a JTextPane, and want it to look like the other text there. However when you select the text, the JLabels don't have the highlight painted on them. Does anyone know how to make the highlight be painted over the label?
I've tried looking at the Highlighter, HighlightPainter classes but as yet no joy.

If I understand what you're after you may find the following will achieve it:
((DefaultHighlighter)textPane.getHighlighter()).setDrawsLayeredHighlights(false);Don't ask me why, though!!

How to make s link button highlight

Can someone help me. On my iWeb website, I have a number of buttons to link people around the site. I started from scratch so I'm not using any of the templates. I want a button to change colour/grow larger or something so that the user knows it is a button. How do I do this?

1. Save the page as HTML. Then edit it with a HTML Editor of your choice.
2. Save the images. (Open the activity window in Safari (Command-Option-A) and option-double-click to download the images)
3. Put everything in a folder on the server.
Paste this code in a HTML Snippet :

Simple Question: How to make a text subpicture highlight not appear by default?

I'm sure I am missing some very easy one-button solution here, but here goes...
I have a menu with just one single button on it. I have the 'Create Text Subpicture' box checked in the button properties panel. What I want is for the highlight to appear only when I roll over the button. But when I preview the menu, the button highlight is on automatically. It functions just fine. I just need to solve this one little highlight issue.
Is it as easy as I am thinking it is?

Hi there! Just want to know how to make a category highlighted after user click on it, so he will able to track on which category he is currently on?
I've already created 3 categories (links) through creating library elements, I already have the hover effect I made through CSS external stylesheet, everything works, but the category is not highlighted when I browse within it.

If I am not wrong, a table cell can hold only one component or none. In order to place the radio group to different positions vertically, you can use subforms instead of table.

How to make characteristic as Mandatory

Dear All,
In Batch Management, for a class, how to make particular characteristics as a "Required Entry".
In class, I can see "Required Entry" check box, but it is greyed out. How to make it as Mandatory.
Because, we have maintained "LOBM_HSDAT" characteristic for a class.
But while doing MIGO and MB1C, it is not asking to Manufacturing date.
Please let me know how to make it as mandatory field in a Class.

Not sure this would help you but you can try,
In t.code CT04, enter the characteristic LOBM_HSDAT and click on change button. Go to basic data tab. Check the box required entry, which you can find on the right hand side and then save. Test again. You must also test in t.code MSC1N apart from MIGO.
MullaiRaja, I must take a step back. The above solution proposed will not hold good for MIGO. To force the user to enter the manufacturing date/expiry date, then in material master ->Plant data/Stor.1 view, maintain the settings for min.shelf life, total shelf life and Period indicator for SLED. If these data are maintained, then when the user does MIGO and if there is no batch master already maintained, then the system will force the user to enter the manufacturing or expiry date.

install all this 0FIAP_O03 ODS from the Business content.

Now type the transaction code RRMX , you will get into the query designer

Drag and drop the characteristic infoobject in to the row which is necesseayfor the report output

Drag and drop the Keyfigure infoobject into the column which is necesseayfor the report output

Now under Free characteristics draga and drop the charactor infoobject which you need to navigate in the reporting.
Note: Before dragging the objects in the freecharacteristic make sure that you need to check the navigation in the ODS level

Now save the report , when you save give the technical name of the report and save

Can't figure out how to make "sub-tabs" / Too many "top-tabs" / Other ?

First of all, the website that I am webmaster for is: www.cindydennis.org .
I am having some problems:
1) There are TOO MANY tabs at the top. I can't figure out how to make sub-headings on one page...
For example, I'd like on the "About CDM" page, tabs that can be clicked on to go to other information tabs, but that don't end up appearing on the top (e.g.: having "Remarks" and "What We Believe" tabs go there, but not appear at the top).
Another example, if you look at the home screen, I'd like to have the link to the "Privacy Policy" and Terms of Service" pages on the bottom, but not have them appear as tabs in the top, too.
How do I do this, please? I've searched, and can't figure out/___sbsstatic___/migration-images/migration-img-not-avail.png
2) How do I add "Copyright 2011" automatically? I saw in the Rapidweaver trial version, it automatically adds it when you publish... is there a way to tell this program to do this? Or do I need to type that in on each page? (I don't want to purchase RW... I'm not ready for that yet.)

Cindee ~ One way to do the copyright notice is to use a Text Clipping — Select (highlight) the copyright text you want to use and drag it to the Desktop. If necessary, change the name of the Clipping icon so that it's more easily identifiable on the Desktop. Then, when you need it in iWeb, simply drag the Clipping icon from the Desktop to iWeb's main canvas.

How to make an index in InDesign CC 2014.1 using a topics list?

I have read the long help document on how to make an index in InDesign CC 2014.1 using a topics list, and still can't work out what to do.
I have done a 548 page book, using a document for each chapter, and a book file to put them all together in the right order.
I now need to make an index at the back, as the author has many quotes throughout the book at the start of each chapter and section.
I have a list of those people quoted and want to upload this list and get the index feature in InDesign to find all instances of the name occurring in the entire book.
After reading the help document I still cannot work out how to do this.
My questions are:
1. Do you have to use an InDesign document as a source for the list of topics? If so, should the document be added to the book file or outside it?
It seems a bit recursive to have the list of topics in an ID document that is in the book file.
2. Once you have uploaded the topics into the Index feature, how do you get it to look for all instances of that 'topic' througout the entire book? I can't figure that out from the help documents. What do I select? Do I do it from the Index panel? Do I highlight the text in the source document? Not sure how to do this...
3. I need the names to list surname first of the quoted authors in the index. This command seems to be different between various editions of ID. For ID CC 2014.1 is it ctrl+alt+shift+]
4. To make the surname show first, what do I highlight? The topic? and then do ctrl+alt+shift+] and select find all as well? Or do I have to just go through the text and manually do this and ditch the idea of uploading topics first?
I am confused as you can see and any help with this is appreciated.

Anyway, as Justin mentioned, if you have an index on ename, it may be used when doing a comparison predicate statement with the ename value.
What it depends on are several other things: stats, how many rows in the table, use of an index hint, etc.
Rather than questioning the group on this, why not just turn on autotrace and run the query for the different scenarios.
The output will show you if it used the index, number of rows returned, blocks read, etc.

How to make a clipping of an email address

My situation is that I'm in the middle of a job search, and I'm registering all over the place, and everyone wants my email address -- in fact some use it for my "user name" -- and so (for security etc.) I set up a couple of new mailboxes (which I can then simply dump once I land a gig). And I'm getting tired of typing in the whole address all the time, so I thought I'd make a couple of text clippings of my addresses and just drag the appropriate one into the "user name" box as needed. (Yes, I know I can do this in Text Substitution sysprefs, but I'm a mouse-oriented kind of guy, I use key commands relatively rarely; think of this question as an academic exercise.)
The first thing I tried was what I do whenever I want to make a clipping: I highlighted my address in a document and dragged it to my desktop. When I try that, however, instead of a clipping, I get a .mailtoloc document. If I then change the extension to .textclipping, I get an useable clip, but the contents of the clip include "mailto:" appended to my address ( e+.+g., "mailto:[email protected]"). And that's where I'm stuck. I can't find how to edit out the "mailto:" yet keep it a clip. If I open it with TextEdit I see a bunch of html code; if I edit that down, and save it as a .textclipping, the resulting clip itself is empty ("Clipping contents: unknown"); if I open it with TextWrangler it opens a Mail message (which is annoying).
So that's what I want to do, I want to make a standard text clipping, the contents of which are a standard email address -- without "mailto:". It would seem the simplest way would be to edit that string, if I could find it. I am competent and confident using Terminal and other system-level tools, and have Developer Tools installed. (If this were still pre-X, at this point I'd whip out my copy of ResEdit and start looking for a 'STR ' resource. Alas, I did not keep up.)

Good suggestion. It gets rid of the "mailto:", but I have to remove the space after dragging the clip into the user name box. Interestingly, I can open the clip with TextWrangler, remove the space, and save it as a clip. However, the clip, as a clip, still has the space! When I open it again in TextWrangler, the space is gone, but still appears when I drag the clip or open it in the Finder. So not quite a cigar. But definitely useful.
So the question remains, where is a clip's data stored? Is it editable? If so, how? If not, why not?

How to make a gradient on two paths

I am fairly new to Illustrator, although have used Photoshop, Fireworks and DW to some degree in the past.
In CS4, I am trying to make a country map with different counties or states. Using the map of the UK and including Wales, Scotland, and some of the counties as an example. I need to portray the whole country, but only highlight a specific part of the land, along a train line and so quickly fade away to almost transparent in the further edges.
Using the pen tool I have traced the country and county borders as paths. I then used the fill tool to make each country, or sea, a different colour. Now I want to fade the edges of my map away to transparent to bring attention to the middle. I have drawn another path on top and beyond the edge of the artwork and tried to make a transparency overlay and gradient in this path to make it fade to the edges. However, this does not work as I had hoped for three reasons.
1) the darkest edge of my 'fade path' does not blend into the country below but is quite an obvious line.
2) the gradient is a different colour as it sits on top of other paths of different colours.
3) the gradient is linear, from top to north, of radial, from a certain spot. I need the gradient to flow out in all directions from a un-uniform 'blob' roughly in the middle.
Can you please tell me how I can achieve my aim?
3) I had one more query when tracing my map ... I have two shapes and the paths align along one edge, think of the south border of Scotland, and the north border of England for example. At the moment I have these two paths running alongside each other but not joined. So if I didn't draw my pen accurately, there are small pockets where they don't touch. Ideally I would like to borrow the other path line for a time then leave it as it continues on it's own route.
Sorry if I mixed up the terms, I hope you can understand me.
Hope you can advise which tools I should be using, or some tutorials I can follow?

Thanks Mylenium. I've certainly learnt something from both replies. I have now finished tracing the countries using your paste and cut method. It was quite a tedious job! I also found using the lasso tool and direct selecion tool that I could highlight just the area that bordered the next county/country. My the latter stages I had to select multiples, join them and then add, delete more anchor points. I'm sure there must be an easier way to trace an image!
I tried the live trace, but the map I was using was too detailed it traced geography and not the borders. Anyway, I'm there now. Thanks for the advice.
I think I'm on the wrong track with the 'blob'. I didn't mean the blob tool on AI, but was referring to the middle content of my map following the railway line, which is the bit I wanted to 'stand out' from the rest. I have perservered and think I'm getting somewhere with the gradients.
Thanks also Skullmaster for the idea of gradient. It wasn't working how I need, but from your link I found how to make a 'transparent opacity mask' which I have used with a photo in the background to some effect.
It is a feature rich software and hard to know what to look for when I'm not sure of the terms. Unfortunately I have a deadline for what I'm doing and this map is only a small part of it. It will have to remain a work in progress as I slowly learn more techniques.
I'm sure I'll be back with more ...
