How to make a list item

I have an input item on a canvas that represents a column with only 3 typical values. As a result, i would like to replace the text item in the canvas with a list item so that new values can be easily selected with the mouse without typing.
I have put a list item on the canvas, but i dont know how to actually make it work so that it is linked to the column i want and give the values i want.
Any help would be great.

Ok this was done.
I found that it was much easier than i expected. Basically you need to use the "Elements in List" property to specify the values, making sure that the values are the same as the ones in the database, after removing the text item first because of duplication.

Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to set the list item read only based on the status column.
If you want to do it using Event Receiver, you need to check the status column value using Server Object Model, then break role Inheritance and rest role assignments to set the item read only.

How to delete a list-item with Contribute 4

I use Contribute for a lot of my client for years and a few
weeks ago i installed Contribute 4 for the first time for a new
client .We dicovered that it's difficult or impossible to delete a
list-item in a unordered list. Maybe also in other list-types but
we haven't tried this yet. Does anybody know how to delete a
list-item? In Contribute 3 you just had to use the backspace button
but that isn't working anymore.

Workflow - how to update multiple list items

Is it possible to update up to 3 list items with the same information using a workflow? My scenario is where a company vehicle (registration number) has up to three drivers assigned to it - Driver Name 1, Driver Name 2 and Driver Name 3. I
have two separate lists - one for vehicles (fleet list) and one for drivers (driver database). In my workflow when an item is created or changed in the fleet list, I would like the current vehicle registration to be updated in all three driver records
in the driver database. I am not sure if I can do this as I am unsure of what my unique look up would be as I need to be able to tie a vehicle registration to a driver name. Any advice would be much appreciated.

I am trying to create a JSF web page and populate Woodstock Basic drop down with options from a MySql database and highlight some options that a user had selected from previous session. How do I make the selected items appear highlighted?

when i m loading a page ...how to make value of select list as read only ..
i tried doing this ....
i added readonly attribute to the select list's element attibute ...it is showing as read only field by darkening the select list field but ... the select list is editable even now... its allowing to choose from drag and drop ...

I have the same requirment..
I have a select list on a editable form and i want to make that one read only.
When I use read only property it doent do anything. (But this is working for text items well).
When I use "disabled' option it works fine. But then that value does not post when use POST the form. So making select list disabled is not a solution.
Any Idea..

I haven't tested this at all, so it may not work, but the first thing that springs to mind is not returning the two dates, base it on the current date, i.e. have your select list return something like -
Last Week - Return 'W'
Last Month - Return 'M'
Last Year - Return 'Y'
then use a query something like -

          CASE v ('ITEM')
             WHEN 'W'
                THEN TRUNC (SYSDATE, 'd')

How to make a text item appear in columns

I have a form which is split into two blocks. The Block on the left hand side is a tree which causes data to appear in a block on the right when nodes of a certain type are selected.
The data block on the right is a Tlist which comprises a number of data values that I am trying to concatenate to look as if it's one record (a bit like NT Explorer to look at).
The problem is that as I am using a proportional font I cannot line up the various data into neat columns. I have tried using chr(9) between the data items but this wont work (because its a list item I think). It's not good enough to use (eg) courier new as our standard is MS Sans Serif.
Any bright ideas on how to get round these problems?

Hai,
If you want to hide the text box immediately when form is loaded, then write in the WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE Trigger.
And no Need to set the ENABLED property to PROPERTY_FALSE, because, when u are hiding an item, its ENABLED, UPDATE_ALLOWED properties will be set to FALSE automatically.

I have a list containing field named "Category". I want to develope a solution which will take two inputs: Old Category and New Category. The expected result is: all the list items will be fetched which have Old Category input value in

I don't think CEWP can help you because you won't be able to find old and new category when there is any change in list. However you can identify the latest modified item from list but how will you identify whether category is old or new. If you have any
other column in list which can tell you that category value has been updated then you can write ECMA or Jquery script to update other items.
If have any column in list then see below jquery code, where you will see how to query the list: (In my case it is Active)

if i'm understanding your questions correctly, the easiest way to achieve the functionality you're after is to have your query criteria fields submit the page when values are entered/selected. the page should then branch back to itself using the submitted criteria in the query. because you're asking about dynamically adding in your where clause predicates, you should consider using a report region of type "SQL Query (Pl/sql Function Body Returning SQL Query)". that way you can use pl/sql to piece together your query based on the provided criteria.
so the part of your question i'm not sure of is when your page should submit itself ("without a GO button" as you said). for your first question, it seems to be a simple matter of javascript. you want users to be able to enter search criteria into a field and have that criteria be using in the report. to facilitate that we have a few self-submitting item types such as "SelectList with Submit" and "Text Field (always submits page when Enter pressed)". for your second question, it seems that you should have a Go button for the user to indicate he's done entering in his query criteria. anyhow, that's up to you, i suppose. hopefully this response will give you the concepts you need to implement this as you'd like.

ps-after re-reading your post, i now realize there's a chance that you wanted users to not have to submit the page at all when filtering their result sets. if that's the case, you'd have to use javascript for that cumbersome feat. google would be a good place to go for that code.
