How to make a scanned document into text in pages to save time from rewritting it?

HELP!!! Just like there is a way for Word Microsoft to have a document scanned and then convert it to text to save time from rewritting/retyping it, I want to know if there is a way for pages?  If so, please tell me at least step by step. thank you.

Hi penguin,
You might try PDF OCR X, a drag and drop application for OS X. The 'community' version is free, but is limited to single page PDF documents. The 'enterprise' version removes that limitation, but costs $30 (US).

  • How do i attatch scan documents into an email on my ipad2? i do not see a paper clip on my email

    Call me the villiage idot, but I can not figure out how to attach the scaned documents from the hp app to my email?

    Hey, glad to see you are using web services to make your life easier!
    You should try scanning your document as a photo and moving it to photo gallery, that way, it will show up to attach on your email.
    Let me know if this works!

  • How do I upload scanned documents into SharePoint?

    Is there a way to automatically upload scanned documents from a scanner into SharePoint without the use of a third party tool? I was just thinking about this, but then couldn't figure out how the metadata piece of the scanned document would work. Has anyone
    implemented anything like this? Or is there a blog that can be recommended? I have not been able to find anything that could point me in the right direction.

    Hello,
    Several MFP manufacturers are releasing solutions for this. You should see what your reseller has to offer.
    Personally, I'd recommend you try Udocx. It's designed to include metadata, OCR etc when scanning to SharePoint folders. There's more information on www.udocx.com/SharePoint

  • HT4641 how do I organize my documents into files on pages?

    I want to organize all my documents into specific files, however I can  not figure out how to create new files.

    A "document" is a file. When you create a Pages document, you are creating file. Perphas you can provide a little more context or detail as to what you are trying to accomplish.

    i knew how to do this once, but have forgotten:  on my palm tx, how do i make the five way button scroll down a page at a time?

    Yes, you'll simply need to open up your docs-to-go program and once you've accessed the program, select the document your needing to view. After selecting the document using the stylus tap in the upper left corner of the screen and you'll see a drop down menu populate (from the File option), Next select preferences and lastly, place a check mark next to the page scroll on Five-Way device.

    If you don't have iTunes you will need to buy the song from the iTunes store and download it that way. If it is a custom track you may be out of luck.  The only way to get a song on your device without iTunes involves jailbreaking it.
    iOS is set up to prevent people from emailing each other songs, videos, movies, books, etc. This is how Apple got their contracts with the content providers by promising that they would do what ever it takes to prevent people from sharing content that they didn't pay for.

  • How can I convert scanned docs into reconizable text?

    I have a very large PDF file of scanned documents the content of which is mostly text. How can I convert this into recognizable text so I could do a word search that would reveal results like a web search (speed wise)?

    Can the OCR apps convert preexisting PDF files on
    your system to text or do you have to scan directly
    into the OCR program at the time you do the original
    scan?
    You don't have to scan again. OCR apps can read from graphics files. If the OCR you pick can't use PDF, you can use Preview, or another application (e.g. Graphics Converter), to convert to a file format that the OCR can handle. All OCR apps should be able to handle TIFF. OmniPage Pro X can read both TIFF and PDF, but I wouldn't recommend it. It is overpriced, has no support, and is tricky to install on any OSX more recent than 10.1

  • How to copy paste a table structure from word document into Text Field [field format Rich Text]

    In our current implementation we have a Blank page with Text Field [field format Rich Text] on generated PDF Document.
    Once the PDF document is generated, user can copy paste content form any word/rtf document to into the Text Field.
    Pasted content retains all text formatting [Bold, Italic, Underline, Indentation] except the Table format. Text Field is removing table metadata from the content and converting it into plant text.
    Is there anyway to copy paste table structure as it is from word document into Text Field?

    Hi,
    I don't think you can! While you can paste formatted text into the rich text field, the table metadata means nothing to the textfield.

  • How to convert a Word document to text or html in an ABAP program

    Hi,
    At my client's site, for the recruitment system, they have the word processing system set to RTF, instead of SAP Script. This means that all the correspondence is in Word format. A standard SAP program takes the word letter, loads word, does the mail merge with the applicant's info and then sends the document to a printer.
    The program name is RPAPRT05. The program creates a document proxy (interface I_OI_DOCUMENT_PROXY) and manipulates the document using the methods of the interface.
    Now what we want to do is to instead of sending the document to a printer, we want to email the document contents to the applicant. But I don't know how to get the content from the Word document into text or html format so that I can make an email from it.
    I know I can send an email with the word document as an attachment, but we'd prefer not to do that.
    I would appreciate any help very much.
    Thanks

    Ok, here's what I ended up doing:
    First of, in order to call FM 'CONVERT_RTF_TO_ITF' you need the RTF document in a table with line length 156. The document is returned from FM 'DP_CREATE_URL' in a table with line length 132. So first I convert the table:
        Transform data table from 132 character lines to
        256 character lines
          LOOP AT data_table INTO dataline.
            IF newrow = 'X'.
            Add row to new table
              APPEND INITIAL LINE TO xdatatab ASSIGNING .
              newrow = space.
            ENDIF.
          Convert the raw line of old table to characters
            ASSIGN dataline TO .
          Check line lengths to determine how to add the
          next line of old table
            newlinelen = STRLEN( newline ).
            ADD addspaces TO newlinelen.
            linepos = linemax - newlinelen.
            IF linepos > datalen.
            Enough space available in new table line for all of old table line
              newline+newlinelen = oldline.
              oldlinelen = STRLEN( oldline ).
              addspaces = datalen - oldlinelen.
              CONTINUE.
            ELSE.
            Fill up new table line
              newline+newlinelen(linepos) = oldline(linepos).
              ASSIGN newline TO .
              newrow = 'X'.
            Save the remainder of old table to the new table line
              IF linepos < datalen.
                oldlinelen = STRLEN( oldline ).
                addspaces = datalen - oldlinelen.
                CLEAR newline.
                newline = oldline+linepos.
              ELSE.
                CLEAR newline.
              ENDIF.
            ENDIF.
          ENDLOOP.
        Write the last line to the table
          IF newrow = 'X'.
            APPEND INITIAL LINE TO xdatatab ASSIGNING .
    Next I call FM 'CONVERT_RTF_TO_ITF' to get the document in SAPScript format:
        Convert the RTF format to SAPScript
          CALL FUNCTION 'CONVERT_RTF_TO_ITF'
            EXPORTING
              header            = dochead
              x_datatab         = xdatatab
              x_size            = xsize
            IMPORTING
              with_tab_e        = withtab
            TABLES
              itf_lines         = itf_table
            EXCEPTIONS
              invalid_tabletype = 1
              missing_size      = 2
              OTHERS            = 4.
    This returns the document still containing the mail merge fields which needs to be filled in:
          LOOP AT itf_table INTO itf_line.
            WHILE itf_line CS '«'.
              startpos = sy-fdpos + 1.
              IF itf_line CS '»'.
                tokenlength = sy-fdpos - startpos.
              ENDIF.
              token = itf_line+startpos(tokenlength).
              REPLACE '_' IN token WITH '-'.
              ASSIGN (token) TO .
              ENDIF.
              MODIFY itf_table FROM itf_line.
            ENDWHILE.
          ENDLOOP.
    And finally I use FM 'CONVERT_ITF_TO_ASCII' to convert the SAPScript to text. I set the line lengths to 60, since that's a good length to format emails to.
        Convert document to 60 char wide ascii document for emailing
          CALL FUNCTION 'CONVERT_ITF_TO_ASCII'
            EXPORTING
              formatwidth       = 60
            IMPORTING
              c_datatab         = asciidoctab
              x_size            = documentsize
            TABLES
              itf_lines         = itf_table
            EXCEPTIONS
              invalid_tabletype = 1
              OTHERS            = 2.
    And then the text document gets passed to FM 'SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1' as the email body.

    How to make a scanned PDF file searchable? I bought an Adobe service which I thought allowed me to do this, but I do not see any instructions how to do it.

    Hi,
    When using Adobe ExportPDF online service, it will run OCR itself when converting any PDF to other file format.
    It also depends upon the quality of the scanned document, so it might be possible that it does not make the file searchable.

    Please instruct me step by step on how to convert several Word documents into the PDF format?

    If properly installed and updated (depending on the WORD version), you can simply do any of the following:
    1. Open the doc in WORD and select Print, choose the Adobe PDF printer, print.
    2. Open the doc in WORD and go to the Acrobat menu in WORD and select create PDF (this uses PDF Maker).
    3. Open the doc in Acrobat and the conversion should be done based on PDF Maker.
