How to make a table to be partitioned automatically in 10.1.0.2.0 ?

I am using Oracle database 10.1.0.2.0.
I created a table. I have done partition on Date column.
Initially I created partitions for 2007 year.
Now I should create partitions for 2008 year. So every year, I have to add partitions manually.
Could any one help me, how can I automate this process.?

I don't know.. how much it would effect.
In my case, I am having around 100 tables which are partitioned using date column.
I am loading a table with 5 crore records on an average for its load frequence.
If I use trigger, it would verify..whether the value in the coumn is new value or not.
So I am thinking.. it would effect.

Another way to create this type of chart is to create the pieces in separate charts and then layer them.
You create two stacked bar charts. There are two rows of values in each. The color of the bottom value is set to "no fill" to create the floating bar effect.
The width of the stick bar is changed by setting the gap to the maximum allowable (999%). The "stick" chart is placed behind the other.
For this to work, they need to be the exact same size and with the same axis values. Setting the axis to have fixed values makes this easier. Also, it improves the appearance to limit all the axis labels and lines to be in just one of the charts.

How to make use of a list partition key in an IR?

Hi all -- wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the following:
I have a table like this:
CREATE TABLE protocol (
ptl_id INTEGER,
ptl_name VARCHAR2(100),
and this table is LIST partitioned on the key value PTL_ID. (There are many reasons for this need which I won't go into).
My question is, queries that use this table in Interactive Reports I have always have the PTL_ID in them, but it's never a displayed column, it's always hidden (as it's a meaningless surrogate key, not to display to the user). However the default IR behavior, when filtering, won't use it, it will use PTL_NAME (if filtering on a particular PROTOCOL).
What can I do to make the IR use the list partition key PTL_ID instead of PTL_NAME, even though PTL_ID is hidden and PTL_NAME is displayed? I'd get MUCH better performance if I could get it to query via the list partition key.
Any thoughts??

Users can change the name of the protocol at will, so that is not an option. Switching the partitioning is not an option either, as the PTL_ID's/partitions get pre-created during scheduled maintenance, and there is no tolerance to downtime to create a new partition for every new protocol as they are needed.
Each partition is put in a separate tablespace as there is a need to archive off protocols once they are done.
So I'm back to the original question still. My guess is the answer involves a bunch coding work arounds, not something native in the IRs. I figured I'd ask.

Make a simple class with properties id, name, number, address, status. Then create a Hashtable that indexes instances of the class by id or some other property.

How to make a table field Required

Hi,
I tried to make a table field as 'Required'. It works fine. But it gives unexpected results. Imagine the table has 10 rows. when the user make an entry in the first row, the system gives the error messages for the required field in the remaining rows as well. How can we restrict it so that it checks for the required field only for the row with entries. How to specify the condition type?

don't set table field as 'Required'.If your table data contains in a internal table , then use Below code under <b>PAI</b> event.
LOOP AT i_data.

      FIELD: i_data-fld1.
      MODULE validate_field.

MODULE validate_field INPUT.
write the code to validate the each line of the table control, if validation fails , cursor will stop at the table control row

"You can't actually have two lines but you can create a title which you may be able to align with the headings to achieve what you want. On the table control tick the 'w/title' box. It then forces you to put an element into a line at the top of the table control."

I used the HR sample schema (employees table) for this.

How to make a table of annual data from a table of quarterly data?

I've got a table of quarterly data. I'd like to create a table of annual data, where each cell has the sum of the four cells for the four quarters that make up a calendar year.
I can do this by pasting a formula into every 4th cell of a second column, but I'd really like a way that doesn't require so many paste operations. Also, when I try doing the same thing into a column that doesn't leave three blank cells, I don't get the annual totals I want (the totaling just moves down one cell, rather than four).
Two related questions:
Is there anyway to move my data so that the four quarters appear side-by-side in 4 columns? (Then the annualizing would be easy.)
Is there any way to take every 4th element from a column and put it somewhere?

I'm having trouble picturing what you have. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I see a single column blocked off in groups of 4 cells. You don't mention them, but you must have additional columns with some sort of identifiers including quarter numbers and items? With this picture in mind let's go to your questions.

Could you please let me know how can I make an editable table. I read all the contents of the table from a spreadsheet file but I would like when I click on any of the entries in the first column I get checkboxs for all the entries in that row and after updating them the table should also automatically be updated with new values
For example
Let's say this is my table
Device Name Bit 0 Bit 1 Bit 2 Bit 3 Value in binary
1 1.bit0 1.bit1 1.bit2 1.bit3 0000
2 2.bit0 2.bit1 2.bit2 2.bit3 0000
3 3.bit0 3.bit1 3.bit2 3.bit3 0000
4 4.bit0 4.bit1 4.bit2 4.bit3 0000
Now if the user click on 1, I should see 4 check boxes for 1bit0 1.bit1 1.bit2 1.bit3 and as soon as the user update any of them the binary value should be updates . For example if the user enable 1.bit1 and 1.bit 3 then the binary value should become 0101

Here's what I had in mind (LabVIEW 8.2). All you need to add is parsing your input file into the cluster structure. If the number of clusters is large, show the vertical scrollbar of the array.
(...note that it would look much better with my above mentioned idea implemeneted! )

The table TRDIR is write protected. One cannot chahge the content of that table using MODIFY or UPDATE Statemnt.
I want this write protection in my ZABC table also.

TRDIR is not a database table...
its database view
and the maintenance status for it is assigned to read only... and also the data browser setting is mentions as Display/Maintenance allowed with restriction...
so if you want the same for your z table make a custom view for it and give the same setting no body can change the entries in the view....

HR Processes will be the same in all the organizations. But, you will come up with different Actions.
