How to make available certain features available to a particular user group in APEX.

Hi
I am trying to make available certain features like (updating/viewing some fields) to a particular set of users. Our requirement is to use SSO for signing in. So when a particular user logs in she/he will be allowed to update or view only certain fields depending on the job role or designation.
E.g If an analyst logs in she/he would not be able to edit certain fields. Those should appear to her/him as read only.
I would appreciate if a step-by-step guide is provided using APEX since I haven't done any such things earlier.

Powershell (or vbscript if you want to be old school).
You can trigger a powershell script which will remove the offending user(s) easily enough with out resorting to a TOLDAP pass.  Nearly any script type thing would work but powershell is preferred.  It can be triggered separately from the TO AD stuff and will take multiple objects to run in one pass if you can construct the command line (or create a text file and feed it in).
Otherwise, TOLDAP is the way to write to AD...

    You would have to either -
    * edit the code pointed to by the new action attribute to
    include the form
    processing and email generation, or
    * edit the form processing script to also include the insert
    record and
    check user name scripting
    The former is probably the better procedure, since I suppose
    you'd want to
    do the check user name before sending the email.
    Unfortunately, this means
    you will have to get your hands into the code, or hire
    someone to do it for
    you.

    I want to find out how many times the application was accessed by a particular user,their session IDs for each of the applications in a particular workspace. I am using a role based authorization scheme for my application. I am using Oracle APEX 3.2 version. Are their any underlying APEX tables/Views to find out the above details.

    You can hide and show portlets of Web providers (OmniPortlet, Web Clipping, and Java portlets) on portal pages dynamically. This functionality is controlled by security managers. The PDK provides a number of security managers. For example:
    o Group security manager: The group security manager makes the portlet appear to users who are members of a specified group, while hides the portlet for those who are not members.
    o Authentication level security manager: You can use the authentication level security manager to control access to the portlets based on the user’s authentication level. For example you may hide the portlet from public users, but display it to authenticated users.
    In addition to the security managers provided by the PDK, you can build your own security managers.
    Although OmniPortlet and Web Clipping do not expose security managers through the user interface, you can apply them by editing their XML provider definition file.
    For PL/SQL portlets you can use the is_runnable method to control whether the portlet is hidden or shown.

    The user wants to toggle between seeing/not seeing the Results row at the bottom of each row. How to make it like a toggle checkbox/selection on the screen so that the user can decide on seeing/not seeing it in the report.     For each characteristics in the query designer, right-click and go to properties....
    then in the 'Display of Results' section in the 'Suppress Result Rows' option, select: "Always".
    This will suppress the result rows.

    I tried with the above SP Workflow and it doesn't work for me. I am not getting the mail. This what i did,
    I have calendar for training in Sharepoint -> I added a training session to the Calendar on todays date and Start and End time is set as 1.05 pm- 2.05 pm -> I saved the event in my Calendar
    Then i selected the Calendar in the "List Workflow" option in Sharepoint Designer and i created a Workflow in Sharepoint which i named it as "Sample Workflow". Here i created a Action as given below,
    Inserted Do Action:
    Calculate (Current Item:Start Time:Returned as Number of Seconds) (minus) (180) (Output to Variable:calc)
    Inserted Pass until Date Action:
    then Pause until Variable: calc
    Inserted Send by E-mail Action
    then E-mail (Specific user)
    I saved and Published the above workflow. I waited for the mail 3 minutes before the Start time and i didn't receive any mail. I have also selected all the Start options in the Workflow
    settings
    I even tried another Action and that too doesn't work for me,
    Inserted Add time to Date Action:
    Add 1minute to
    Current Item:Start time (Output to Variable: Created a new variable by giving some name)
    Inserted Pass until Date Action:
    then Pause until Variable: New Variable name selected
    Inserted Send by E-mail Action
    then E-mail (Specific user)
    Please give me a solution to fix this issue and make this work

    For the  two user groups maintain two different desktops, two/same themes and frame work.change the headeriview jsp in masthead par file to Google and save it as masthead1 and another one with gmail as masthead2 then create iviews with that par file and assign them to different groups and make invisible the default masthead iview.then the users get the logoff based on group you can get some wikis on changing log off or redirecting log off, check these threads

    We want to deploy to all our desktop the pac file to configure proxy. We have a Windows 2008 R2 server, and i've enabled the GPO "Make proxy settings per-machine (rather than per user)", and i've add a registry key AutoConfigURL in "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current
    Version\Internet Settings" with the pac file link.
    I've tested on my pc, and all was configured without any problem. I've try to login to my computer with another user (without admin rights) and the automatic configuration proxy was compiled and not modificable. It's seems that all works.
    But, our users are not local admin, so i've tried to deploy the GPO in a collegue computer. I've forced the update of GPO, checked on registry that all new keys are added, and i've reboot the pc. When i've check on IE settings, autoconfig URL was empty and
    grey. I'm disconnected from user and i've login to the pc with a local admin. With my surprise, the IE settings was compiled. When i'm come bac to the user profile the IE settings was compiled and not modificable.
    The problem is: i've over 750 users in 3 countries, and i don't want grant them the local admin permissions. How can i configure proxy settings via GPO without login to every machine at least one time?

    In the past, we experienced various issues with machine proxy settings,
    so we don't use them anymore. The simple approach:
    Block access to the connections page through ADM template settings and
    deploy the proxy through GPP Internet Settings.
    This is what we do (with a pac file, too), and it works well :)

    We have installed Adobe Acrobat X Pro- English,Francais,Deutsch version 10.1.9 in our test environment and tried  testing it for converting SAP pages into PDF with a few pilot users. In doing so we faced a challenge, where only one user at a time can use Adobe Acrobat PRO to convert SAP pages in to PDF.As long as the first user who  is connected to Adobe Acrobat Pro via SAP isn’t logged off, other users connected to the same  server  are not being able to get the “Save As” dialog box to save the PDF in their preferred location.
    This is a business requirement and we need an urgent solution for the same. Can anyone help us in telling us if this is possible and if yes the how to go about?

    1. What is the Acrobat feature that you mean? There's nothing specific to SAP included with Acrobat.
    2. Yes, some Terminal Server configurations appear supported (check carefully). All users of the terminal server will need a license, so far as I know - total licenses = total individual people using.

    Frankly speaking, that would be much easier to have an installation set onto one of your own computer (laptop/desktop), configuration of PIA over Internet can be very tricky and risky especially to bypass/configure the company firewall just a your own training.
    That said, if you get the authorization from your company to do it, the "easiest" way to do what you are trying to achieve would be to have a DMZ where a PIA is running in, this PIA would point to the in-house AppServer within very specific port/security level.

  • How to hide/disable certain features in left panel, need help...

    Heya,
    So I upgraded to Leopard recently and I see that Mail has some lovely new features that appear in the left panel. Things like "On My Mac", "RSS", "Reminders" and my IMAP drive. Basically all I want to see is my "Inbox" drop down (this connects to GMail via IMAP) and all of it's sub-folders - nothing else.
    I can't seem to figure out how to "turn off" these other features, can anyone help?

    A Gmail account is not exactly a POP is accessed as POP, and not exactly an IMAP, if accessed as IMAP. For example you are told to not use your own email client's Junk filter, but if you have more than one account, and that additional account is not Gmail, then you lose the ability for Mail to filter Junk for that account.
    The bottom line is that every feature of Gmail is set to encourage your accessing via a Browser rather than an email client to expose you to the maximum ads.

    or if you don't want a template, when the Chooser comes up, down the bottom corner are 2 buttons:
    *Open Recent* and *Open an Existing File…*
    But better would be drag the document to your Dock and open it direct from there.
