How to make export/import of an Enterprise portal application flexible?

Hi,
I've created simple portal using Portal Content Studio. The portal contains lots of URL iViews that shows some parts of the UI of a third party product deployed on the same NetWeaver App server.
If the portal is exported and afterwards it is imported at Enterprise portal on another machine - all the URLs should be modified according to the new hostname and port of the Netweaver App.
Is there a way to pass the host name+port as parameters, so these should be defined only once, when importing at new location - not to modify the location for each URL iView?

You should use an AppIntegrator iView to do this. It references a System Definition (of type com.sap.portal.httpconnectivity.urlsystem) in the PCD and allows you to build the URL from the System Definition properties. You need a

Configuring Standalone Proxy with Enterprise Portal Application

Hi All,
I am attempting to set up a standalone proxy DC for use inside of an enterprise portal application DC (deployable). I successfully created the standalone proxy and I created an API public part as well as an SDA public part, both of which contain all of the classes from the standalone proxy. In my deployable portal application, I have included both of these public parts in the Used DCs. At compilation, everything is fine, and NWDS recognizes the API and does not give any errors with references to the proxy classes while coding or building the application. However, after deploying and running the application, I receive a NoClassDefFound error for the proxy classes at runtime. I have worked with using APIs/SDAs a lot in other types of DCs (EARs, WebDynpro, etc.), and simply including the SDA as part of the used DCs has always worked fairly simply, however I am still relatively new to using Portal Application DCs, so I am not sure if I am doing something incorrectly in this situation. Any light you could shed on the situation would be a great help. Thanks.

I believe you need to do the following. In your standalone DC, create two public parts, one for compiliationand one for assembly (the two radio buttons on the first screen when you create public part wizard).
Then in your PAR Standalone DC, reference both public parts as used DCs. The jar file from the Standalone Proxy DC will be packaged into the EP Build results and deployed with the PAR file.

Please guide me how to do the client copy -import/export method. i want to do from prd to dev. os -windows,db-oracle,sap 5.0
1. What are pre request for that.( pre checking)
2.approx. time for client copy.
3. how to check the client size and dbsize.
4.test run will effect the prd system.(ie client wants to lock during the client copy testing..)
5.what are the other things i want to follow.

You may want to do the client copy when users are not working on the system. For the client export/import, source system can be used as soon as export process is ready. You can use reports like RSSPACECHECK for the size of client. Client copy export/import timings depends on your hardware configuration, database size etc. You will need to decide on client copy profile before starting the export.

The recommended way is to export the User Manager configuration template out (using the AdminUI), import it into your new enviroment (again using the AdminUI - you have to type the password of the LDAP user in since it is not exported) and then initiating an LDAP Synch.

I am trying to rename LEAD with Constituent in Web ui and for that purpose i have created ZClass in Web UIWorkBench, I am able to make changes to the related Method in the Zclass where i have replaced the string with Constituent. Now when i open Webui i see Lead overview page with the description as ConstituentBPLEAD. Can some one let me know how to remove BPLead from the description. How to bind an IIS to the enterprise portal installed on a linux machine

Dear all,
I am very new to the topic of Enterprise Portal.
Our intention is, to develop .NET IViews and deploy them in the Enterprise Portal.
The Enterprise Portal Server is set up on a linux machine.
The Guy who did install the Portal Server, has no idea how to "integrate" the Microsoft IIS to the Portal.
After deploying my .net Component, i tried to view this component in the portal (by right clicking the mouse on the Component in in the .NET Solutions Explorer).
This gives me the following error:
Portal Runtime Error
An exception occured while processing a request for:
iView:N/A
Component Name: N/A
Could not find portal application com.sap.portal.dotnet.framework.
Exception id: 02:06.......
See the details for the exception ID in the log file
I think that this has something in common with integrating the IIS on the Linux Machine, and maybe additionaly installing the pdk.net on the IIS webserver machine which should be used.

Seems to me like you are trying to use the PDK for .NET. If so - Please read the overview section in the documentation to get a general idea of how it works (for example - IIS is not used at all!).

Anyway, It seems like the problem is that you didn't deploy the 2 required SDA's to the portal. You should also take a look at the "installation and configuration" guide. XI will need a triggering event to do this. That is, if you can send a message to XI, then using XI you can route the message to a Proxy and from the proxy (which could be a java proxy) you can make a call to a java program outside XI. But, basically, XI on its own will not make a call, but it needs a triggering message. So, you can configure a file adapter to send a triggering message from a file system to the intergration server, and configure routing rules so that the messages reaches a proxy.

What i mean to say is if a user logs on to the portal can he able to see the IView
that i have created ? How to make iView available to the end user.
See if you have made a role from the iView, and assigned that role to a user, then that user will be able to see the iView when he logins into the portal. Just like you have Content Administration, System Administration, and User Administration tabs (which are actually roles), he will get a tab of the role which you assigned to him. It would be better if you create a dummy user, and try assigning different roles to it. You can then come to how exactly it works.

How to display active directory users through weblogic portal Application?

Does anyone has faced this situation?
I configured the activedirectory and able to see the users and group in the weblogic console at Security->Realms->Myrealm->users. when I run my portal application,I am able to see only the users that are configured in embedded weblogic LDAP ie, I can see only the users weblogic,portaladmin and yahooadmin that are of defaultauthenticator provider.I need to display the active directory users also in our portal.
I have two doubts on this?
1)Is it I need to write custom code to view the active directory users in our portal?
2)Does I need to use any jars that supports active directory authenticator?
I would appreciate if any one can reply on this with helpfull docs/information.
We are using BEA 8.1 SP4.
