How to make UTF-8 filtering

I need to use the ldapsearch utility on a directory which uses hungarian characters. When I use a file based filter with -f flag it works fine (it uses a UTF8 based comparism)
But when I use a command line filter it wants to use the current locale.
Can I do UTF-8 based filtering with command line argument filters?

Yes. I believe the command line ldap tools (the ones shipped with the directory server anyway - not sure about the ones in /usr/bin) support the -i argument. So, if your data is already utf8 encoded, use -i UTF-8 (or something like that).

The default encoding that you set in Firefox/Tools > Options > Content is only used if a server doesn't send an encoding via the HTTP response header and if there is also no meta tag or other indication in the file.

• I created a form and I'm not sure how to make the 'submit' button send me the collected information.

Hello everybody. I am a web designer (NOT a developer)
I created a form and I'm not sure how to make the 'submit' button send me the collected information.
I have used phpform.org/ to custom build a submission form. Then I opened that html in dreamweaver (so that I could edit colors, fonts, and delete the phpform.org advetisement)
Now I need to link the 'submit button' so that it will e-mail me the completed form.
(formphp.org wants me to subscribe to a servie that I pay for in order to have the form e-mailed to myself.)
(after I get the submit button linked to an e-mail I will pull the html of my completed form into Muse- but I don't think that is really relevent)
I'm sure one of you can help point me in the right direction! I can't write my own code so detailed help is appreciated!
-Brenna
The e-mail I would like the form sent to is:

I'm afraid not. It's not rocket science but you need to do some coding.
You'll need to find a script (php) and save it to your local site folder. Then reference the script in your form's action attribute like so.

The input fields in your HTML form need to exactly match the script variables.
I'm assuming you're hosted on a Linux server which uses PHP code. Linux servers are also case sensitive, so upper case names are not the same as lower case names. It's usually best to use all lower case names in your form and script to avoid confusion.

• How to make saved IR available for all users

Hi,
I've created IR and saved it to several tabs based on search conditions.
But they're only visible for developers.
How to make these tabs available for all end-users ?
Does version 4.0 support this option ?
Thank you!

Hi
At present this feature is not included, although I believe it may be in 4.0. Many people have provided workarounds for this. None of which I have tried. I cannot find the original thread but here is a solution from a chap called Ruud
>
One way to share your saved reports with others is to 'Publish' your report settings to a few intermediate tables in your application and have other users 'Import' your settings from there. The reason for using intermediate tables is so that not all your saved reports need to be 'visible' to other users (only those that you've chosen to publish).
Basically you have available the following views and package calls that any APEX user can access:-
- flows_030100.apex_application_pages (all application pages)
- flows_030100.apex_application_page_ir_rpt (all saved reports - inclusing defaults and all user saved reports)
- flows_030100.apex_application_page_ir_cond (the associated conditions/filters for above saved reports)
- wwv_flow_api.create_worksheet_rpt (package procedure that creates a new saved report)
- wwv_flow_api.create_worksheet_condition (package procedure that creates a condition/filter for above saved report)
The way I've done it is that I've created 2 tables in my application schema that are straightforward clones of the 2 above views.
CREATE TABLE user_report_settings AS SELECT * FROM flows_030100.apex_application_page_ir_rpt;
CREATE TABLE user_report_conditions AS SELECT * FROM flows_030100.apex_application_page_ir_cond;
( NB. I deleted any contents that may have come across to make sure we start with a clean slate. )
These two tables will act as my 'repository'.
To simplify matters I've also created 2 views that look at the same APEX views.
CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW v_report_settings AS
SELECT r.*
p.page_name
FROM flows_030100.apex_application_page_ir_rpt r,
flows_030100.apex_application_pages p
WHERE UPPER ( r.application_name ) = <Your App Name>
AND r.application_user 'APXWS_DEFAULT'
AND r.session_id IS NULL
AND p.application_id = r.application_id
AND p.page_id = r.page_id;
CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW v_report_conditions AS
SELECT r.*
p.page_name
FROM flows_030100.apex_application_page_ir_cond r,
flows_030100.apex_application_pages p
WHERE UPPER ( r.application_name ) = <Your App Name>
AND r.application_user 'APXWS_DEFAULT'
AND p.application_id = r.application_id
AND p.page_id = r.page_id;
I then built 2 screens:-
1) Publish Report Settings
This shows 2 report regions:-
- Region 1 - Shows a list of all your saved reports from V_REPORT_SETTINGS (filtered to only show yours)
SELECT apex_item.checkbox ( 1, report_id ) " ",
page_name,
report_name
FROM v_report_settings
WHERE application_user = :APP_USER
AND ( page_id = :P27_REPORT OR :P27_REPORT = 0 )
ORDER BY page_name,
report_name
Each row has a checkbox to select the required settings to publish.
The region has a button called PUBLISH (with associated process) that when pressed will copy the settings from
V_REPORT_SETTINGS (and V_REPORT_CONDITIONS) into USER_REPORT_SETTINGS (and USER_REPORT_CONDITIONS).
- Region 2 - Shows a list of already published reports in table USER_REPORT_SETTINGS (again filtered for your user)
SELECT apex_item.checkbox ( 10, s.report_id ) " ",
m.label,
s.report_name
FROM user_report_settings s,
menu m
WHERE m.page_no = s.page_id
AND s.application_user = :APP_USER
AND ( s.page_id = :P27_REPORT OR :P27_REPORT = 0 )
ORDER BY m.label,
s.report_name
Each row has a checkbox to select a setting that you would like to delete from the repository.
The region has a button called DELETE (with associated process) that when pressed will remove the selected
rows from USER_REPORT_SETTINGS (and USER_REPORT_CONDITIONS).
NB: P27_REPORT is a "Select List With Submit" to filter the required report page first.
Table MENU is my application menu table where I store my menu/pages info.
2) Import Report Settings
This again shows 2 report regions:-
- Region 1 - Shows a list of all published reports in table USER_REPORT_SETTINGS (filtered to show only other users saved reports)
SELECT apex_item.checkbox ( 1, s.report_id ) " ",
m.label,
s.report_name,
s.application_user
FROM user_report_settings s,
menu m
WHERE m.page_no = s.page_id
AND s.application_user :APP_USER
AND ( s.page_id = :P28_REPORT OR :P28_REPORT = 0 )
ORDER BY m.label,
s.report_name,
s.application_user
Each row has a checkbox to select the setting(s) that you would like to import from the repository.
The region has one button called IMPORT that when pressed will import the selected settings.
It does this by using the 2 above mentioned package procedure to create a new saved report for you
with the information form the repository. Be careful to match the right column with the right procedure
parameter and to 'reverse' any DECODEs that the view has.
- Region 2 - Shows a list of all your saved reports from V_REPORT_SETTINGS (filtered to only show yours)
SELECT page_name,
report_name
FROM v_report_settings
WHERE application_user = :APP_USER
AND ( page_id = :P28_REPORT OR :P28_REPORT = 0 )
ORDER BY page_name,
report_name
This is only needed to give you some feedback as to whether the import succeeded.
A few proviso's:-
a) I'm sure there's a better way to do all this but this works for me :-)
b) This does not work for Computations! I have not found an API call to create computations.
They will simply not come across into the repository.
c) If you import the same settings twice I've made it so that the name is suffixed with (2), (3) etc.
I did not find a way to update existing report settings. You can only create new ones.
d) Make sure you refer to your saved reports by name, not ID, when matching APEX stored reports and the
reports in your repository as the ID numbers may change if you re-import an application or if you
auto-generate your screens/reports (as I do).
Ruud
>
To me this is a bit too much of a hack and I personally wouldn't implement it - it's just an example to show it can be done.
Also if you look here in the help in APEX Home > Adding Application Components > Creating Reports > Editing Interactive Reports
...and go to the last paragraph, you can embed predicates in the URL.
Cheers

• How to make Mail stop marking messages from my Contacts as Junk?

I use Mail to access both my Gmail and Mac mail. Mail has begun marking as Junk messages from my Contacts, including VIPs. In Preferences, I have checked the boxes to have Contacts and Previous Recipients exempt from email filtering, yet they still sometimes end up marked as Junk and sent to the Junk folder. These are all Gmail messages: I use my iCloud account very little. I've unchecked the Trust junk mail headers... and Filter junk mail before applying my rules. I don't see how to make Mail leave my Gmail alone! Can anyone help?

Google recommends turning off Apple mail Junk filters if using gmail filters.

• How to make dynamic search items in a report?

Hi all,
I have two questions.
1. How to make dynamic search (i.e without GO button) field above report to provide dynamic search by words in one field of report query?
2. How to make similar multiply dynamic search fields on report to provide individual search by selected fields of report with refine capability (i.e any search conditions in different fields must work together as complex WHERE clause)
Thanks in advance

hey yuri--
if i'm understanding your questions correctly, the easiest way to achieve the functionality you're after is to have your query criteria fields submit the page when values are entered/selected. the page should then branch back to itself using the submitted criteria in the query. because you're asking about dynamically adding in your where clause predicates, you should consider using a report region of type "SQL Query (Pl/sql Function Body Returning SQL Query)". that way you can use pl/sql to piece together your query based on the provided criteria.
so the part of your question i'm not sure of is when your page should submit itself ("without a GO button" as you said). for your first question, it seems to be a simple matter of javascript. you want users to be able to enter search criteria into a field and have that criteria be using in the report. to facilitate that we have a few self-submitting item types such as "SelectList with Submit" and "Text Field (always submits page when Enter pressed)". for your second question, it seems that you should have a Go button for the user to indicate he's done entering in his query criteria. anyhow, that's up to you, i suppose. hopefully this response will give you the concepts you need to implement this as you'd like.
regards,
raj
ps-after re-reading your post, i now realize there's a chance that you wanted users to not have to submit the page at all when filtering their result sets. if that's the case, you'd have to use javascript for that cumbersome feat. google would be a good place to go for that code.

• How to make a download page?

Hi!
I need to make a downloadable page out of a stream (or byte array - it doesn't matter) with a content of any type (e.g. a csv file or a binary file).
I would like to make a link on a page which whould trigger an event. In the event handler I would prepare the needed data (generate, etc.) and let the client download it as a binary file (so that browser whould display a download page with options to open the file or save it).
The problem is that I can't find out how to do that?
Are there any how-tos or examples?
Thanks!

Well, a problem arised again when we moved our web application to the https protocol. DownloadPageRenderer didn't work at all with Internet Explorer browser, however other browser worked well and downloaded our file.
I've made a separate servlet for simply returning a file from HttpSession in a doGet method, this is done by the following code:
public class FileDownloadServlet extends HttpServlet  {
* Process the HTTP doGet request.
public void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
throws ServletException, IOException {
System.out.println("FileDownloadServlet.doGet() call in progress . . .");
response.setContentType(contentType);
response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment;filename=\"" + fileName + "\"");
OutputStream os = response.getOutputStream();
// save our data to the OutputStream...
os.close();
}This code works well with Internet Explorer in our test server, Oracle9iAS/9.0.2. However this doesn't work with Internet Explorer on the client's server, Oracle9iAS/9.0.2.3.0.
In our server (where it works), I get the following HTTP headers in IE (with ieHttpHeaders IE plugin):
HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Date: Tue, 31 Aug 2004 07:36:49 GMT
Server: Oracle9iAS/9.0.2 Oracle HTTP Server

Content-Disposition: attachment;filename="HTD Proov.htm"
Keep-Alive: timeout=15, max=98
Connection: Keep-Alive
Transfer-Encoding: chunked
Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8On client's server (where it doesn't work):
HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Date: Tue, 31 Aug 2004 07:36:03 GMT
Server: Oracle9iAS/9.0.2.3.0 Oracle HTTP Server
Pragma: no-cache
Cache-Control: no-store
Surrogate-Control: no-store
Expires: Sat, 11 Jul 1970 17:55:19 PST
Set-Cookie: JSESSIONID=<skipped>; Path=/komm
Cache-Control: private
Content-Disposition: attachment;filename="proov.htm"
Connection: close
Transfer-Encoding: chunked
Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8Any ideas about how to make IE work with our application are welcomed. Can this be because of a wrong server configuration? Can any HTTP headers of the second response cause such behaviour in IE?
Thanks,
Alexey.

• How to make an avatar like this,

Hello Adobe Community, i'm new here, i have a big question. I want to know HOW to make an avatar like this:
I want to know how to do that effect that who zoom in and zoom out etc. WITHOUT SNOWING, only that effect, if you can help me please!
That zoom effect is AWESOME... send me a tutorial please!

I thought you said you knew how to make animated gif. A frame is the composite of the layers that have their visibility on for the frame a frame may be made using many layers. You use tools and filters on layers.You make frame using layers.
Photoshop also supports any size layer. Layers can be larger the canvas size can have image data out side the canvas. Layer image data position above can be move relative to the canvas. The Cloud logo animation has two layer one is masked is masked the mask is not linked to the layers image data it stationary over the canvas and is more on less a masks more foe the background canvas then the layer its on. The layer it is on image data is more off canvas then over canvas. Photoshop also notes layer position in a frame information, A layer potion can be change from frame to frame. I only create two frame for that animation. The first and last frame, The first frame I had the top late image JJMACK high and off canvas to the left. The last frame had it low and off canvas to the right. I then had Photoshop generate 138 frames between the two frames I created. So Photoshop moved the top layer position across the canvas left to right and high to low direction and the stationary layer mask masked it as if it were going through the background layers clouds. The two layers are visible in all frames.

Hi,
If I create a somethingk like a datagrid and filled it with data during runtime, and then I would like to display the datagrid in another place at the same time. So how to make a copy of the datagrid with the data filled?
Thanks.

Hi webvalue, do you wish to display the same data that this DataGrid is using? If so just create a new DataGrid instance and give it the same data as its dataProvider. For example the code below uses two DataGrids that both consume the same data:

<mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
layout="absolute"
applicationComplete="init(event)">
<mx:Script>

[Bindable]
private var _dp        :Array;
private function init(e:Event):void
_dp = [
{label:"FlashGen.Com", data:"http://www.flashgen.com"},
{label:"Adobe", data:"http://www.adobe.com"},
{label:"Flex.org", data:"http://www.flex.org"},

</mx:Script>
<mx:Panel x="10" y="10" width="600" height="207" layout="absolute" title="Multiple DataGrids using the same data source">
<mx:DataGrid id="dg2" dataProvider="{_dp}"  left="0" top="0" bottom="0" width="50%"/>
<mx:DataGrid id="dg1" dataProvider="{_dp}" right="0" bottom="0" width="50%" top="0"/>
</mx:Panel>
</mx:Application>
Cloning a DataGrid component doesn't seem to be the right solution given the information you have provided. If you wanted to reuse the DataGrid in a separate view you could always reparent it to the new view by removing it from the current views displaylist and adding it to the new views displaylist like the example below illustrates, here I'm moving the DataGrid (dg) from one Panel component (dghost) to another (dghost2):

<mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
layout="absolute"
applicationComplete="init(event)">
<mx:Script>

[Bindable]
private var _dp        :Array;
private function init(e:Event):void
_dp = [
{label:"FlashGen.Com", data:"http://www.flashgen.com"},
{label:"Adobe", data:"http://www.adobe.com"},
{label:"Flex.org", data:"http://www.flex.org"},
private function moveDataGrid(e:MouseEvent):void
dghost.removeChild(dg);
dghost2.addChild(dg);

</mx:Script>
<mx:Panel id="dghost" x="10" y="10" width="300" height="207" layout="absolute" title="DataGrids original parent container">
<mx:DataGrid id="dg" dataProvider="{_dp}" right="0" bottom="0" top="0" left="0"/>
<mx:ControlBar>
<mx:Button label="Move DataGrid" click="moveDataGrid(event)"/>
</mx:ControlBar>
</mx:Panel>
<mx:Panel id="dghost2" x="10" y="225" width="300" height="207" layout="absolute" title="DataGrids original parent container">
</mx:Panel>
</mx:Application>
While you could clone the DataGrid, when dealing with display objects it's often easier to reparent them as you are only moving it from one view to another; this has the added benefit of saving on memory as you still only have the original instance of the DataGrid not that instance and a new "cloned" instance.
I hope that helps provide additional options beyond just cloning

• How to make it move correctly?

I made a simple Flex application. There is a helicopter which
will move to points that user clicks in the canvas. For example, it
is at A point. When I click at B point, the helicopter will move to
B. Then it will move to C when I click at C.
However, the problem arises when I click at B, C, D
continuously. It moved from A to B. However, I don't think it moved
from B to C. Maybe it moved from B' to C.
Please tell me how to make it move correctly.
[CODE]

layout="absolute">

Make clicking disabled when the helicopter is moving. So
right after a click, disable clicking.
There are many coding possibilities for doing so. Make your
own, then add the code below after it:
MoveEffect.addEventListener("effectEnd",
callHandlerFunctionOfSomeSort);
private function callHandlerFunctionOfSomeSort(e:Event):void
// In this section, re-enable it using your own method.
Good luck!
